From Disney star to beauty mogul and talented musician, Selena Gomez really has grown up in the spotlight. And now, she’s celebrating her 30th birthday—time really does fly.

Hosting a lavish soirée for her big 3-0 birthday bash, the Only Murders In The Building star’s party had a black-tie dress code, with guests and Gomez herself swanning around a home in flowing gowns and sharp tuxedos.

Posting images of the party to her Instagram, the Rare Beauty creator can be seen floating down a staircase wearing a pale pink Versace gown, compiled of sheer chiffon, a ruched bodice and a beaded train that would fall behind her. She finished off the look with embellished hoop earrings and a delicate heel, and wore her chocolate brown mane in a slicked, ’60s-inspired ponytail.

Posting the imagery a few days after her actual birthday on July 22, Gomez also shared a black-and-white portrait from the occasion, paired with a heartfelt caption to her fans.

“Though there are so many words to say I’ll simply leave it at this,” she wrote on the post. “My twenties were a journey through good, hard and beautiful moments that I will never forget.”

“Each of them has shaped me into the person that I am today. I am someone who is still learning, but is more certain about what matters and what she wants. Someone who is grateful for every single gift and every single lesson along the way.”

She also shared her gratitude for the “empowering” people in her life, explaining that she tries her best to “take the beautiful and the painful one day at a time and let it all make me into the very best me that I can be for myself/others/you”.

Aside from her sweet ode to herself, another element of the birthday bash caught fans attention—her outfit change. In a series of portraits from the event, posted by one of Gomez’s friends Connar Franklin, the Wizards of Waverly Place star visibly swapped out her pastel-hued number for an ivory feather-trimmed sequin wedding dress from 16Arlington’s bridal collection.

The reason behind her choice to wear a wedding dress will remain unknown, but fans have been divided as to whether she donned the dress for aesthetic purposes or to send a message about what she wants for herself in her 30th year around the sun.

Gomez has been repeatedly vocal about her relationship status, notably taking to TikTok in May 2022 to poke fun at being single. On the social media platform, she shared a video of herself sitting alone, next to two couples taking part in some PDA.

“No, I’m fine. I’m totally fine being single, it’s a real thing, it’s fine,” she said to the camera, before panning to the loved-up couples.

And mere days ago, Gomez shared a TikTok video of her grandmother accidentally asking her about her love life on camera.

While the 30-year-old is applying lip liner, and seemingly in the middle of filming a makeup tutorial for Rare Beauty, her grandmother suddenly calls out in the background: “So, how did you end it with that guy?”

Realising what her grandma just said on camera to her 42.3 million fans, Gomez responds “Ah, I’ll tell you in a second” and laughed to herself.

And even when she hosted Saturday Night Live in May of this year, she delivered some anecdotes about her hunt for love.

“One reason I’m really excited to host SNL is because I’m single—and I’ve heard SNL is a great place to find romance,” she said, seemingly referring to either Ariana Grande or Kim Kardashian’s SNL-induced romances with Pete Davidson.

“Since I don’t really want to try the dating apps, I just want to put it in the universe that I’m manifesting love. But at this point, I would take anyone.”

The “Lose You To Love Me” singer hasn’t been officially linked to anyone since she split from on-again, off-again boyfriend Justin Bieber in 2018—and he has since married Hailey Bieber.

Naturally, fans are desperate to know what’s in store for Gomez’s love life, and who knows, she might be asking herself the exact same question too.
