If you’re looking to fill the Materialists-sized hole in your heart now you’ve made it through your third cinema watch (or is that just us?) then Splitsville probably isn’t the answer. In fact, the new film seemingly sits at the opposite end of rom-com scale.

There are some similarities; the gorgeous Dakota Johnson being one and messy entanglements being the other.

So, what do you need to know about Splitsville? If you ask us, everything. Because, this film looks downright debaucherous.

What Is Splitsville About?

The film, which made its debut at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year, centres on two couples who find themselves in the depths of marriage woes, contemplating divorce.

The official synopsis reads: “After Ashley asks for a divorce, good-natured Carey runs to his friends, Julie and Paul, for support.

“He’s shocked to discover that the secret to their happiness is an open marriage, that is until Carey crosses the line and throws all of their relationships into chaos.”

‘Crossing a line’ as you may have guessed, relates to Carey (Kyle Marvin) and Julie (Johnson) sleeping together, and ‘chaos’ is the fallout – think manchild  fisticuffs – between friends that follows.

There are also appearances from our favourite Succession star, cousin Greg, aka Nicholas Braun as well as The Umbrella Academy’s David Castañeda.

Is There A Splitsville Trailer?

A trailer for Splitsville has been released, and be warned it will have you running to watch the film.

In the clip we see Ashley (Adria Arjona) confess she’s been cheating on her husband, Carey, before asking for a divorce.

He hilariously runs from the car and straight to his friends to lament over his disintegrating marriage. The carnage that ensues really can’t be captured well enough with words, so we suggest you watch on, below.
