When Ali Wong’s BEEF hit screens back in 2023, it caught everyone off-guard to become one of the most talked-about shows of its year.
With backing from indie production powerhouse A24 and streaming juggernaut Netflix, we honestly shouldn’t have been surprised. Nonetheless the dark comedy left everyone wanting more, and now, some three years later we’re finally being satiated with BEEF season two.
The show’s sophomore season won’t pick up where it left off, instead returning with a whole new cast who have a whole new set of grievances to air.
As season two returns the drama is getting a whole lot more passive-aggressive, with the show pitting two generations who love to tear each other apart against one another: Gen Z and millennials. This season centres on newly engaged couple Ashley (Cailee Spaeny) and Austin (Charles Melton) who become entangled in the crumbling marriage of their country club boss, Joshua (Oscar Isaac), and his wife, Lindsay (Carey Mulligan).

Through a web of favours and coercion, both couples compete for the approval of the club’s billionaire owner, Chairwoman Park (Youn Yuh-jung), who is navigating her own scandal involving her second husband, Dr. Kim (Song Kang-ho).
Creator Lee Sung Jin has deliberately flipped the generational script this season — rather than pitting older characters against younger ones, he wanted to explore the divide between Gen Z and millennials, asking what happens when two couples who are closer in age collide for the very first time.
Australian Netflix fans, here’s your answer: BEEF Season 2 drops on Thursday, April 16 at 12am PT time, which for those downunder converts to 5pm AEST.
The show streams exclusively on Netflix in Australia, with all eight episodes landing at once, so you can burn through the entire season in a single sitting.
