Zendaya will go down in fashion history for her red carpet looks and I can’t be told otherwise. Even by the actress’ standards, her appearance at the London premiere of The Odyssey, is otherworldly. Given the mythological grounding of her character and inspiration for the looks, it is no surprise.
The 29-year-old channeled Athena, the goddess of wisdom, in a Schiaparelli ensemble plucked straight from the Haute Couture runway at Paris fashion week just hours before. The white sculptural bodice appearing as though cut from marble was paired with an intricately beaded skirt.
What truly tied the look together, if you ask me, was the ethereal makeup. From the rosy blush to the shimmering bright eye felt luminous – and that was the intention, according to the makeup artist behind the brush.
“I wanted to give Zendaya a sun-kissed complexion worthy of a Greek goddess, with the eyes pulling in the ethereal nature of the dress,” says her makeup artist Ernesto Casillas.
Much to my delight, Casillas’ kit consisted entirely of a tried-and-tested favourite: Charlotte Tilbury.
Casillas revealed the exact combination of products used, including skin prep with Charlotte’s Magic Cream and Charlotte’s Magic Serum Crystal Elixir before creating an airbrushed-like base with Beautiful Skin Foundation, Unreal Highlighter Fresh Healthy Glow Stick, Cheek to Chic in Pillow Talk Deep and Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder.
“Charlotte’s new Unreal Highlighter in Glazed Goddess added a beautiful glossy, glazed finish to Zendaya’s complexion to emulate this. For the eyes, I created light, mesmerising eyes to echo the ethereal elegance of the dress,” he explains.
For Zendaya’s eyes, Casillas blended three shades from the brand’s new Exagger-Eyes Waterproof Eyeshadow Sticks: Satin Diamonds, a brightening champagne; Nude Sculpt, a cool-toned nude; and Minx Sculpt, a matte dusty rose.
