There’s a very specific kind of energy that comes with being part of a fandom. It’s in the collective joy, the deafening screams at a concert, the shared heartbreak when an announcement doesn’t go the way you hoped.
For K-pop fans, that feeling is dialled all the way up—especially when BTS are involved.
For the uninitiated, the group is made up of seven members: RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jung Kook. Since debuting in 2013, they’ve built a career that’s not just impressive, but genuinely unprecedented.
While their early years were spent steadily carving out space in an already saturated K-pop industry, their global takeover truly clicked into place with the release of Dynamite in 2020. What followed was a run of back-to-back hits—Butter, Permission to Dance and even My Universe with Coldplay—that cemented their status well beyond the genre.
And now, after what has felt like a very long hiatus, BTS are officially back. Having completed their military service, the group is returning with new music, fresh content and a world tour already on the horizon.
From one K-pop fangirl to another, consider this your cheat sheet to everything you need to know about the comeback.

When Is The BTS Comeback?
After what has felt like a very long wait, BTS are officially back—and, unsurprisingly, they’re not doing things by halves.
The comeback begins on March 20 with the release of their new album, ARIRANG. Ahead of the drop, the group has teamed up with Spotify for a pre-release Easter egg hunt, giving fans something to decode before the album lands at 2 p.m. AEDT on Friday.
From there, things only get bigger. On March 21, BTS THE COMEBACK LIVE | ARIRANG will air on Netflix, streaming live from Seoul’s Gwanghwamun Square. With reports suggesting up to 260,000 people could attend—and parts of the city shutting down for the event—it’s shaping up to be less of a one-off performance and more of a full-scale spectacle.

Then, on March 27, Netflix will release BTS: THE RETURN, a documentary centred on the making of ARIRANG. According to Netflix, BTS: THE RETURN, “Serves as a companion to the live performance and chronicles the long-awaited return of BTS and the making of their fifth studio album, ARIRANG“.
And just when it feels like it couldn’t get any bigger, the group will kick off a world tour starting in Seoul on April 9, running through to March 2027. Their label, Big Hit Music, has already hinted there’s more to come—so it’s safe to assume additional dates (and possibly cities) are still on the horizon.
All that to say: this is a big comeback. And after years of waiting, it feels well deserved.
Where To Listen To The New BTS Album?
ARIRANG is available on streaming services such as Apple Music and Spotify and can be pre-saved before it gets released.
The 14-track record features writing credits from all members of BTS, marking a deeply personal return for the group. Much of the inspiration draws from their mandatory military service over the past few years, as well as the traditional Korean folk song Arirang, long associated with themes of resilience and unity.
The album also boasts an impressive list of collaborators, including Diplo, Ryan Tedder and Kevin Parker of Tame Impala. And if early reactions are anything to go by, expectations are high. “I just feel so lucky because I’ve been working for three decades and to link up with a group like that, have them trust and just do awesome music, honestly, it’s going to shock the world — craziest album ever,” Diplo shared.
What Is BTS The Comeback Live | Arirang?
As mentioned, BTS THE COMEBACK LIVE | ARIRANG is a livestreamed concert airing on Netflix the day after the album drops.
Streaming live from Seoul, the performance marks the official on-stage return of BTS in this new era, and is expected to be more than just a standard concert moment. According to Weverse (the group’s fan community platform), “BTS will perform new songs from the album, including the title track, for the first time at Gwanghwamun Square, one of the most iconic spots in Korea”.
For those in Seoul, the concert will be held in Gwanghwamun Square for free. But this isn’t just any location—it’s one steeped in history, dating all the way back to the Joseon Dynasty.
In a move that feels particularly considered, BTS will follow a set route for the performance, emerging from inside Gyeongbokgung Palace, passing through Gwanghwamun Gate and arriving at the stage on the northern edge of the square. It’s a path that quite literally traces a line from Korea’s royal past into its modern, public-facing present.
The scale of the event is already being felt across the city, with major insitutions such as the National Museum of Korean Contemporary Culture set to close during the surge of visitors. It’s a rare, city-wide pause that speaks to the magnitude of the moment, cementing this as not just a concert, but a genuinely historic event for Seoul.
For Australians, the livestream is set to air at approximately 10 p.m. AEDT and will be available to all Netflix subscribers.
What Other BTS Concerts Can I Watch?
If you’re looking to fill a BTS-sized hole in your heart, there’s no shortage of BTS content to revisit. From full-scale stadium shows to behind-the-scenes documentaries, consider your watchlist sorted.
BTS On Disney+
For a reminder of where it all left off pre-enlistment, BTS Permission To Dance On Stage – LA is available to stream on Disney+. It’s the kind of performance that makes it very clear why their live shows have the reputation they do—high energy, tightly produced and genuinely hard to look away from.
Of course, you can also catch Jimin and Jung Kook in Are You Sure?!, the duo’s reality series that follows their travels and time off-duty.
If you’re after something more behind-the-scenes, there’s plenty to work through. J-Hope In The Box offers a closer look at his solo album, Jung Kook: I Am Still tracks the youngest member’s individual promotions, while Suga: Road To D-Day follows his creative process in the lead-up to his solo release.
BTS On Prime Video
Over on Prime Video, you’ll find Yet To Come in Busan—the final performance the group delivered together before their hiatus, and one that’s well worth a rewatch (or several).
If you’re a baby ARMY looking to deep dive—or just in the mood to reminisce—there’s also Speak Yourself, alongside behind-the-scenes content from the Love Yourself tour. Equal parts spectacle and nostalgia, it’s an easy way to dive back into the BTS universe while you wait for what’s next.

Is BTS Coming To Australia In 2027?
The good news: yes, they are.
As part of the tour, BTS will be heading to Melbourne and Sydney in early 2027. Melbourne shows are scheduled for February 12 and 13, followed by Sydney on February 20 and 21.
There’s no word on tickets just yet, but if past tours are anything to go by, they’ll go quickly. BTS tours are synonymous with instant sell-outs, feverish queues and fans willing to go to great lengths (and budgets) to see their bias live.
Consider this your early warning: keep your notifications on, your group chats ready and your bank account… prepared.
