Opening Ceremony – Founded in 2002 by Carol Lim and Humberto Leon, Opening Ceremony is still the boutique for both established and up-and-coming brands. Not to mention, they have the coolest shop assistants known to humankind.
Barneys – No trip to New York could be complete without a wander through the famed Madison Avenue department store. This is drool-worthy fashion of the highest order.
Bird – Stop by this Brooklyn boutique for Marni, Acne and Rachel Comey, not too mention the store’s in-house eponymous label.
Where to eat
Balthazar – A it approaches it’s 20th birthday next year, this French-style bistro (above) is still as chic and fabulous as ever. Think oysters and wine or a cheeky cocktail (or two) at the bar.
Freemans – Find the alleyway that is home to Freemans and you will be in for a a treat. This relaxed but oh-so-cool restaurant is a great spot for dinner and a glass of wine. Trust us – you are going to want to order the artichoke dip.
Dimes – Hit this uber cool Chinatown café for tuna nori roll wraps and chia bowls.
The must-see museums
The Frick – Housed in former industrialist Henry Clay Frick’s house on Fifth Avenue, this museum boasts a jaw-dropping collection of Old Master paintings and European sculptures.
Neue Gallerie – The Neue Gallerie celebrates early 20th century German and Austrian art. The strudel in the café is a must.
The Whitney Museum – In 2015 the venerable museum moved into it’s new incredible Renzo Piano-designed home in the Meatpacking district. The museum is home to the work of more than 3,000 of the US’s most incredible artists.

The ‘only in New York’ experiences
Grab a bagel from Russ & Daughters – Having celebrated it’s 100th birthday in 2014, this deli and now cafe has definitely earned the moniker ‘iconic’.
Pick up a sandwich from Katz’s Deli – This deli and cafe will look familiar – it was where the famous scene from When Harry Met Sally was filmed. It’s also been family–owned for more than a century.
Cocktails on top of the city – See the glittering lights of New York from the 65th floor of the famed 30 Rockerfeller Plaza with a cocktail in hand. Perfection.
