A police officer on the Central Coast has been arrested over the sexual assault of a nine-year-old girl.
The Newcastle Herald reports that the incident occurred in 2009, and the man has been charged one count of sexual intercourse of a person aged under ten and two counts of aggravated indecent assault.
An investigation by the Professional Standards Command was launched last year, leading to the arrest of the 48-year-old man today.
The senior constable was part of the Local Area Command in the Northern Region.
The officer has been granted bail until he appears in Newcastle Local Court on February 23.
