Australians are waking to social feeds flooded with a decidedly un-Monday dose of glitz and glamour as the 2026 BAFTA Awards roll out the red carpet in London.
Overnight, 1,000 guests, including Hollywood stars, British talent, and royalty, arrived at the Royal Festival Hall for the ceremony, now in its 79th year.
Presented by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, the BAFTAs celebrate the very best in film from blockbuster hits to independent films. Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales, returned this year – with the Princess dazzling in Gucci, no less – marking their first appearance in three years following Kate’s cancer diagnosis and treatment.
The red carpet also saw Hollywood couples and rising stars shine. Paul Mescal and Gracie Abrams made their official couple debut. While they attended the 2025 Cannes Film Festival together and have slowly shared candid snaps on social media, the 2026 BAFTAs marked their first red carpet appearance as a couple.
They weren’t the only A-list pair looking loved-up at the event, with Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner photographed in the crowd, although Jenner again chose to skip the carpet.
Australian actress Rose Byrne was also spotted looking ethereal in butter yellow, continuing her award-season run following her memorable Golden Globes nod earlier this year.
