It seems some of Tammy Hembrow’s fans aren’t too pleased with her after she attended Derby Day at Melbourne’s Flemington Racecourse on Saturday, October 31 with model boyfriend Grayson Te Moana. For the event, the mum-of-three opted for a strapless white dress with a lace bodice and drop waist, while Te Moana wore a black pinstripe suit.
“So you ditched your kids’ Halloween tradition for this? Lucky Po has her other mum doing it,” one Instagram user commented on her photo, referring to her Hembrow’s youngest child, four-year-old daughter Posy, who she shares with ex-fiance Matt Poole. Poole married his partner Annelyse Oatway in October 2026.
“Annelyse doing all the mothering while Tammy does all the partying,” another comment on Hembrow’s Derby Day post read. Many other comments pointed out they thought the white dress was a wedding dress, and that she was marrying Te Moana.
The discourse on Hembrow’s post is underpinned by familiar misogynistic assumptions, casting her as an irresponsible, absent mother for the apparent audacity of making childcare arrangements so she could enjoy a day out. It reflects the enduring expectation that women should bear the burden of care, and that motherhood must come at the expense of personal freedom.
While the tide has been turning against the cult of perfect motherhood for some time, it is clear that netizens remain all too eager to engage in mum-shaming.
Earlier in the month, Hembrow had shared two TikToks of herself and her kids dressed in costumes, writing: “Spooky seasonnnn” and “My lil vampire fam”. A week later, she posted a TikTok taking her three kids to Sydney for White Fox’s Halloween gifting suite at their headquarters.
Hembrow, who is also mum to 11-year-old Wolf and 9-year-old Saskia, made her first public appearance with Grayson Te Moana at the Australian premiere of “Wuthering Heights” in Sydney in February this year. The couple share a nine-year age gap. Since then, they’ve appeared on each other’s socials regularly. In May, Te Moana posted two black-and-white photos of the couple from inside a photo booth, captioning it: “you wouldn’t get it”.
In September, Hembrow and Te Moana sparked engagement rumours when Te Moana posted a TikTok of Hembrow with a diamond ring on her left hand, captioning it with a ring emoji and a dancing man. When a Daily Mail photographer caught up with the pair at an Adelaide airport that same month to ask about the potential engagement, Hembrow cheekily replied with a “maybe”.
Hembrow has been engaged three times and married once, in November 2024, to Matt Zukowski. In an episode of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! Australia, Zukowki said the marriage had only lasted three months before they’d separated.
