Abandoned after birth when her parents were told she was born missing her left and right hemispheres in her brain, a tiny unnamed baby faced a short, terminally ill and lonely future of being left in the corner of a hospital to die.
Or would have, had it not been for the super heart of Cori Salchert.
Along with her family, Cori took in the fragile baby, named her Emmalyn, and showered her with love until the very end, making it her mission to constantly hold, love and comfort the vulnerable child.
โSheโd left this world hearing my heartbeat. She didnโt suffer, she wasnโt in pain, and she most certainly wasnโt alone,โ foster mum Cori Salchert told TODAY.
Emmalyn was the first of many hospice children Cori and her husband Mark have taken into the homes and hearts to love and hold until they pass away, and this is on top of caring and nurturing their eight biological children.
Their Salchert family home is known as the โHouse of Hopeโ was inspired by Coriโs own upbringing โ her younger sister, Amie, was disabled and lived in a childrenโs home. When Amie was just 11, she died at the childrenโs home after a terrible drowning accident. The traumatic event โ and the thought that Amie died all alone โ jolted Cori into a life-changing mission.
She became a perinatal bereavement nurse, and founded Hope After Loss Organisation for families dealing with the death of a newborn and became more involved in working with newborns with terminal conditions.
But now itโs fostering that is where she dedicates a lot of her time and energy. โWe invest deeply, and we ache terribly when these kids die, but our hearts are like stained-glass windows,โ she says. โThose windows are made of broken glass which has been forged back together, and those windows are even stronger and more beautiful for having been broken.โ
And now itโs two-year-old Charlie thatโs basking in the warmth of the familyโs devotion. Arriving as a four-month-old, Charlie has neurological impairments and depends on a ventilator and tube feeding, among other medical challenges. But this certainly doesnโt stop the Salcherts taking him on excursions, picnics and outings.
His siblings do complain when their motherโs time is stretched or when sheโs at the hospital with Charlie rather than at school performances, but they work through as a family.
By healing her past loss, Cori is making the world a kinder, softer place for children like Charlie.
โWe can make a difference in how he lives and the difference for Charlie is that he will be loved before he dies.โ

Never heard of it? Itโs a little phenomenon weโve come across often enough, where we look great in the bathroom, putting on our makeup, but not so great in the resulting photos from nights out. Whatโs up with that? Why canโt our photos be as flawless as, say, Kim Kardashian West, any of the Hadids, or our spirit animal Zoe Foster Blake?
A reddit thread has finally answered the question about why photos donโt represent our true, most beautiful selves, and the answer is good old science.
Are you ready for some myth-busting? So the major reason is the disparity between 2D (photos) and 3D (mirrors). A mirror will give you the most animated and in-depth representation of your face, the closest approximation of actually being in front of your beautiful visage.
A photo, however, can be more stilted and flattened. Itโs literally a two-dimensional representation of you. And letโs face it, thatโs never going to match up to the real thing, is it?
As one Reddit user said, โIt also has to do with the tiny movements in your face and your head turning side to side, up and down, etc. These little movements provide a full 3D picture of yourself. Meanwhile, a photo is static and can only show one portion of your face at a time.โ
Donโt even get us started on flash, which makes everything look cold, harsh and completely flat. Itโs not unusual to find your gorgeous, glowing IRL tan completely dissipate in front of your eyes in a photograph. Blame your phoneโs camera and its wide-angle lens. Blame your bathroomโs non-flash reliant flattering light. Blame the fact cameras seem to miraculously appear in the exact moment when you are not living your best life, and youโre putting all of the pizza slices, or all of the sav blanc, in your mouth.
Blame whatever you like, just donโt blame yourself. Because youโre gorgeous. Itโs all your phoneโs fault.

While you were sleepingโฆNYFW guests schlepped downtown to the Coach 1941 show at Hudson River Park to find moody lighting and a bunch of trashed old cars balanced on top of one another. What was this? Mad Max 5?
Better!
Designer Stuart Vevers swept the house clean โ then let it get dirty again in the coolest way possible. Gone was last seasonโs varsity innocence, and in its place: an edgy melange of โ50s rockabilly, neo punk and โ90s grunge.
Rivets, studs, fringing and tough-girl leather set the tone, which was anchored by brilliant โbrothel creeperโ shoes like the ones London Teddy boys used to wear, only exaggerated in their proportions. Coachโs version comes with very high crepe soles, the uppers made from red velvet or studded leather โ theyโre clearly going to be one of the the cult shoes of the season. (At this point, some of you will be scratching hour heads and saying, โBoots in summer?โ but forget about logic โ fashionโs about magic; anyway Americaโs spring is our autumn so theyโll be perfect for Australia.)
These cult-boots-in-the-making were shown with the jacket shape du jour โ the bomber, in camouflage, khaki, or embroidered satin or leather.
Prints ran from Elvisโs head on shirts, to Coachโs signature florals on dresses โ but there was nothing sweet about them.
Sticking largely to a colour palette of black, green and wine, the new Coach girl wears her floral frock with serious attitude โ sure, it might be sheer; you might even be able to see her pink satin shorts underneath it, but sheโs no pretty little lady.
She knows exactly what she wants (and how to get it): arm candy. For Coachโs Spring โ17 bag collections, that means small and structured, possibly bubble gum pink, certainly embellished to the hilt, and carried by a super-chunky metal chain strap. Get your motor running indeed.

Michelle Williams is known for her daring fashion choices and when she stepped out for a Vanity Fair and Tiffany & Co. dinner to celebrate Lupita Nyongโo was no exception.
At first glance, the 36-year-old was wearing a classis LWD (little white dress) until you see it in full length.
The Louis Vuitton gown had an asymmetric hemline to end all asymmetric hemlines.
With itโs futuristic feel, she then went and paired it with a thick leather belt, tied at the waist. Perfection.
The event was held as part of the Toronto Film Festival, where Michelle is there to premiere her new film, Manchester by the Sea.
The Oscar-nominated actress is receiving rave reviews for her role in which she plays the estranged wife of Lee Chandler (played by Casey Affleck) who is forced to take care of his teenage nephew after the boyโs father dies.

A toddler suffocated under a bean bag after a childcare worker unknowingly sat on top of him, as he read a book to the other children.
Police have confirmed that they were called to the West Jordan Child Center in Utah where they found one-year-old Leonardo Sanchez unresponsive.
Security camera footage showed the boy crept beneath the bean bag chair to hide, and under it for around 15 minutes, according to the Washington Post.
The child later died in hospital, police confirmed in a statement.
โWe have a toddler that was under a bean bag that was sat on by an adult,โ the spokesman says. โThat adult, according to everything weโve seen, did not know the child was underneath.โ
โHow could this happen? Heโs a big boy. How did they lose track of him?โ the childโs mother, Danielle Sanchez, told KUTV.
โSomebody dropped the ball, and now weโre going to have to bury a boy because of that.โ
โWe regret deeply the tragic death of a young toddler at our day care facility,โ said West Jordan Child Center in a statement through attorney Barry Johnson.
โNo words adequately describe the depth of the sorrow we feel. And, of course, we do not pretend to understand how devastating this is for the family,โ
No charges have currently been laid towards the centre of the employee, who has not been named.

Jonah Hill stopped by French TV show Le Grand Journal to promote his new film War Dogs with costar Miles Teller, but he ended up getting way more than he bargained for.
One of the presenters, Ornella Fleury, preceded to hijack the interview with some seriously awkward sex jokes.
โItโs when I saw you get sodomized by a three-meter-tall demon in This Is the End that I told myself, now thatโs the man of my dreams!โ Fleury began. Um ok.
โAnd you? I hear you get sodomized pretty often,โ an unamused Hill snapped back.
Still, Fleury pressed on.
โAnyway, thatโs why I have a sexual fantasy with you, Jonah. It would be thatโฆโ she began before getting cut off by the audience laughing. โAll I said is โsexual fantasyโ and you guys laugh. Guess I donโt need to finish the joke.โ
But you guessed it. She did.
โMy sexual fantasy would be that weโd meet up in a hotel room at night,โ she continued. โWe would chat, youโd make me laugh. Youโd make me laugh a lot. And then all of a sudden, youโd bring your friends [Leonardo] DiCaprio and Brad Pitt, and then youโd go away!โ
WAY harsh Tai.
The 32-year-old, clearly unimpressed replied: โIโm glad I came to this show to get ridiculed by a local weather girl โ itโs nice.โ
So pissed was Hill that he ended up calling off all other interviews promoting the film in France.
Fleury later issued an apology to the actor, saying she felt like she could joke around with him, but clearly was mistaken.
โJonah, the problem is that for 10 years I have lived with you through your films. In fact Jonah, I really had the impression that I knew you so last Friday I thought I was just messing around with a friend, but the reality is that we are not friends.
โNo the reality is that you two have two Oscar nominations and I have two videos on my YouTube account. You have made films with Scorese and Tarantino and me, I have made an advert for Spontex (a company that specializes in making cleaning products).โ

Lucky for us, Eric is also an actor, having starred in โThe Butterfly Effect 2โ and โThe L Wordโ.
As well as acting, the 35-year-old has also dabbled those chisled features in the modeling world, working with the likes of Abercrombie, Leviโs, and Tommy Hilfiger.

Blake and Eric come from a close-knit family, and shared a cute snap on Instagram of the whole gang earlier this year for National Siblings Day.
โHappy National Sibling Day,โ she wrote. โYes, our parents are breeders.โ
One last fact to leave you with about the Livelys. Their last name isnโt actually Lively. Blake was born Blake Ellender Brown. Lively was her mum Elaineโs married name from her first marriage, and Blakeโs dad, Ernie Brown, took on the name Lively and so did all their children. Mind blown.

Burke Ramsey was just nine years old when his sister JonBenet Ramsey was brutally murdered. For 20 years the mystery surrounding the unsolved pageant queenโs murder has captivated the world.
While conspiracies swirled about Burkeโs alleged guilt, he remained silentโ until now. And the cold case is once again making headlines due to his bizarre tell-all interview.
In three exclusive interviews with Dr Phil McGraw, Burke responds to why he chose to keep quite for two decades, saying his life became a โchaotic nightmare.โ
โFor the last 20 years, I wanted to grow up like a normal kid, which does not include going in front of TV cameras,โ Burke told Dr Phil. โI was pretty sceptical of any sort of media, it just made me a very private person.โ
The first interview in the series debuted last night leaving viewers in shock at Burkeโs chilling smile as he recounted the night JonBenet died. Dr Phil has addressed the interview, speaking to Today he explained:
โThis is a very socially awkward young man but understand that from the time this happened, his parents, depending on your interpretation, either protected him or hid him โฆ so he has not had the social contact that most kids have growing up. When youโve got reporters at the end of your driveway you couldnโt go to school.โ
Another burning question Dr Phil answered was โ why now, after 20 yearsโ worth of public suspicion primarily focused on himself and his parents?
โHe was starting to get bombarded, people were finding him,โ he said. โHe knew his anonymity was gone, he said he wanted to control the narrative. His story was going to get told, he wanted to tell it.โ
12 years after the crime, the Ramsey family was cleared of any involvement with Boulder, Colorado police issuing all three members a public apology.

Rumours about whatโs really โwrong withโ Hillary spread fastest among those convinced there's something innately โwrongโ with a president being female, liberal or just older, says Gaby Hinsliff
Do you know absolutely nothing about medicine whatsoever? Great, then letโs play the internetโs newest game: diagnosing Hillary Clinton.
To join in, you donโt even have to watch the brief film footage of her half-collapsing in the street after a 9/11 memorial ceremony, having seemingly forced herself to go when she should have been in bed.
And you certainly donโt need actual evidence to suggest Clintonโs doctor lied in saying she has pneumonia and had been prescribed rest. You just have to know, deep down, that there must be something wrong with this 68-year-old woman seeking power โ that she must be too weak, or unreliable, or not up to it somehow. Unlike that nice Donald Trump, who once used an interview about 9/11 to brag that, when the Twin Towers collapsed, one of his buildings took over as the tallest in New Yorkโs financial district.
Ever since she collapsed after a speech in 2012, an attack blamed initially on a stomach virus and which led to the discovery of a blood clot on her brain, Clinton has been accused of โsecretlyโ suffering from enough diseases to fill a medical dictionary โ dementia, epilepsy, strokes, liver damage, terminal illnesses galore. If sheโs tough enough to fight a presidential campaign through that lot, she should probably be supreme ruler of the universe, never mind president, but thatโs not the point.
Many people donโt believe politicians tell the truth and Hillary Clinton hasnโt helped herself in some ways (covering for her husbandโs infidelities, using a private email server โ although, unlike Trump, at least she publishes her tax returns for all to see). In carrying on campaigning despite being ill, she was arguably covering up, pretending everything was fine when it clearly wasnโt. But does that say more about her or about the culture in which sheโs operating?
Nick Clegg described in his autobiography this month how he suffered pneumonia, bronchitis, chest pains and chronic coughs while deputy prime minister, but kept it quiet, instead โtrying to look perky in public at all timesโ. He knew otherwise heโd be portrayed as weak and overwhelmed, a minor-league politician not up to governing with the big boys.
Politicians are supposed to pretend they are never ill โ especially if theyโre female, older, or otherwise vulnerable to unfair assumptions about whether theyโre up to handling pressure
Back in the 1990s, cabinet minister Mo Mowlam kept quiet about being diagnosed with a brain tumour, until bitchy press comments about her weight gain (caused by the treatment) persuaded her to go public. The former culture secretary Chris Smith didnโt reveal until leaving office that he was HIV positive. Both felt the truth could, however unfairly, be damaging. If Hillary had cancelled engagements, her health would have become a huge campaign issue, plus sheโd have been accused of letting down 9/11 families โ so, presumably, she gambled on toughing it out in silence.
The irony of all this is that soldiering on when you should be in bed is a recipe for terrible decision-making. Nobody wants to be operated on by a brain surgeon so sick they might faint any minute, or flown by a pilot who can barely function. In other walks of life, we accept that everyone gets sick sometimes, and that itโs sensible to take time off.
But politicians above a certain level are supposed to pretend it just never happens โ especially if theyโre female, older or otherwise vulnerable to unfair assumptions about whether theyโre up to handling pressure. The result is suspicious voters and miserable politicians.
If Clinton really is secretly ill, then sheโll struggle to hide it in office. (American presidents undergo an annual published medical). Until then, all we know for certain is sheโs tough enough to keep going through considerable adversity.
Anyone suggesting Clinton could kill the gossip by publishing all private medical records is missing the wider point, meanwhile, which is that, deep down, conspiracy theories are often cover for something more resistant to treatment. Crazed theories about Barack Obama being born overseas wonโt die, no matter how many birth certificates he produces, because what really bothers many โbirthersโ deep down is that heโs black โ to them, thatโs pretty much the same as foreign. Rumours about whatโs really โwrong withโ Hillary meanwhile spread fastest among those secretly convinced thereโs something innately โwrongโ with a president being female, liberal or just older. If nothing else, Hillaryโs armchair doctors are doing a damn good job of diagnosing themselves.

Fifty Shades fans, youโre going to want to sit down for this one.
The full trailer for Fifty Shades Darker has been released, and Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey are hotter than ever. Seriously.
At the end of the 2015 box office smash Fifty Shades of Grey, we saw Anastasia, played by Dakota Johnson walk out on Christian Grey, AKA Jamie Dornan after he took her โpunishmentโ too far.
In the second installment, we see Christian trying to win Anastasia back.
โI want you back. I had no idea what this was going to become,โ the billionaire businessman says. โWhat do you want, Anastasia?โ
โThis time, no rules, no punishments, and no more secrets,โ she replies.
But itโs the NSFW shower scene that everyone is talking about. The pair start ripping each otherโs clothes off whilst engaging in a heavy make out sesh.
Fifty Shades Darker is released in Australia on February 9.

When police sergeants Peter Venz and Danny Rehe discovered Nikitah Beadman in a shipping container in a Gold Coast backyard in November 2012 she was on the brink of death.
Having endured months of abuse from her boyfriend of one year Robert Galleghan, Beadman was found by the offices bound to a trolley and gagged, having been raped, tortured and left for dead.
โWhen the doors opened weโve seen the trolley, like a fridge loading trolley, and we could see a body strapped to it,โ Sergeant Danny Rehe told A Current Affair four years on from that horrific day.
โThatโs when we went inside and probably saw the most horrific thing weโve seen. My heart actually sank โฆ It was evil and depraved what I saw.โ
With Beadmanโs permission, the show aired chilling footage from the rescue, and the officers recalled the scene as they discovered it.
โShe had a blue yoga mat strapped around her head with wire and she was wired all the way down the shopping trolley. The wire was so tight it was just cutting into her skin,โ he continued.
โWe were getting no movement out of her, we were getting no response out of her. Her dress was up, her private parts were exposed.โ
โThe first thing I did was kneel down, because there was nothing I could do, but was to hold her hand and tell her I was there and that we were trying to help, and reassure her and calm her. That was all I could do,โ Sgt Rehe said.
โIt was bound around her face so tight that there was no way she could breathe. We removed that just to find more, more horror. He had her mouth stuffed with her underwear, and that was wired and the wire was cutting into her cheeks so tight, and the wire was also chained around through the trolley.
โWhat sort of person leaves someone that theyโre supposed to love strapped to a trolley, in a shipping container, down the back of the house in the bush, and go off to the police station to make a complaint knowing damn well that sheโs probably going to die in that shipping container?โ
Police made the devastating discovery after several witnesses at a party earlier that night had seen Gallagher throw his girlfriend against a wall and slam her head into a coffee table.
Beadman has tried to leave on numerous occasions but Gallagher threatened her and her family.
โI knew what was going to happen,โ she told A Current Affair. โHe always said heโd bury me out there.โ
Four years on, itโs not only the psychological trauma but also has a number of physical injuries she is still recovering from.
โI have got a twisted backbone and two rotated ribs, that in any sort of movement or any sort of exercise could pierce one of my lungs; I have got multiple sprains all through my back; I have got sciatic nerve damage; I have also got nerve damage in my right arm, that I still couldnโt use for a year-and-a-half after โ which was from the wire,โ she told the Nine Network.
Galleghan was charged with torture, common assault and threatening violence and will remain in jail until 2021.
If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, contact 1800 Respect (1800 737 732) or 000 in an emergency.
Robert Galleghan was very calm and collected when police arrived, while his ex-partner Nikitah was locked up. #9ACAhttps://t.co/L8AShwgrfR

Straight off the runway at New York Fashion Week - Fashion Designer Rosie Assoulin just showcased a collection of bright colours, clashing prints and detailed cut outs.
In our book, fashion is first and foremost about having fun.
For her Spring โ17 presentation, Rosie Assoulin did just that.
Standing in a sea of styrofoam, models wore looks that were vibrantly striped, ruffled or cut out to reveal a playful hint of skin. Patterns clashed, shirts were bedazzled with smiley faces and voluminous cuts made a fresh statement.
Assoulin, who won the 2016 Swarovski Collective Award earlier this year, also included over 358,000 crystals throughout the collection. Not only did they cover a colour-blocked kaftan, but decorated shoes and wide-brimmed hats in the form of cheerful tassels.
Sure, worn head-to-toe many of the outfits might be a shade OTT for life beyond fashion week. But worn as separates or toned down with simple accessories, these exuberant pieces will earn their keep in any wardrobe.

Channel Nineโs Married At First Sight third series ended last night with all three remaining couples coming to their end of their onscreen romance seemingly happy and committed in their arranged relationships.
Cue the rose petals and the champagne. Start planning the trips to IKEA โ because it seems you can find true, everlasting love on a reality tv show in front of millions of Australians, and a giant production crew.
Exceptโฆ wait. You canโt.
Season two contestant Clare Verrall has taken to Twitter to blow the lid on the reality TV show โ which she described as โmanufactured dramaโ.
To which we say: we know!
(Doesnโt everyone?)
Verrall described the current season of the hit series as โan absolute s**t show from start to finishโ and claimed that there was no three month catch-up with the couples screened on TV because their relationships had all ended.
She accused the showโs executive producers of โlaughing maniacally while toasting champagne and yelling we are untouchableโ.
Verall, who appeared on season two which aired in April, went through a breakup of her own with her โhusbandโ Jono Pitman, accusing him of having a โbad temperโ.
Since last nightโs series finale, it has now been revealed that the happy ending didnโt last long and Clare was indeed correct.
Nineโs The Fix has reported that all six contestants are now single.

The blonde-beauty recently announced that she will be working with Freedom Foods, a gluten-free, nut-free, non-GMO health food company, to try and boost the healthy eating habits of Aussies.
โI am very excited to be working with Freedom Foodsโ, Hawkins revealed in an interview with the โThe Daily Telegraphโ. โFood is such an important part of my life and I have been a fan of their products for a few years nowโ.
The Australiaโs Next Top Model host did not hold back when she spoke of her concerns about the current state of Australian health, explaining: โIn one of my first meetings with the team from Freedom Foods, they told me that 95 per cent of Australianโs do not shop in the health food aisle. It was only a matter of time before Gwyneth Paltrow expanded her Goop empire to include clothing.
The 43-year-old actress turned entrepreneur launched the four-piece line names The September Edition โ this week, and some pieces have already sold out.
โI wanted to create product that is incredibly high quality and delivered at a great value โ I think thereโs a huge white space in the market for luxurious ready-to-wear at a direct-to-consumer price,โ Paltrow, founder and chief creative officer of Goop, said in a statement.
โIt was very important to me to make the clothes in the same way that all of my favorite designer clothing is made, which is in Italy, with beautifully loomed fabrics, incredible tailoring, and incredible attention to detail, but to be able to deliver those pieces at a third of the price.โ
The pieces range from $US195-$US695 and will be updated each month with new pieces.

The mother of a toddler who was found dead in her home in Sydneyโs southwest has been charged with murder.
The 36-year-old mother was arrested and charged with murder overnight and is expected to front court today.
The two-year-old girl was found in the bathtub inside the home after a family friend raised concerns with police after not seeing the child for a few days.
The friend had initially asked a neighbor to borrow a ladder before she was able to get inside the house where she discovered the childโs body, reports SMH.
The coroner will prepare a report on the death. However, the daughter of a neighbour told The Daily Telegraph that the woman who lived in the house had suffered a car accident at the weekend.
โA family friend (of the womanโs) came over and told my parents she had a car accident up in the mountains,โ Ms Fransisco said. โShe didnโt seem like the kind of mother whoโd leave her daughter alone.โ
Another neighbour, Pat Ingram, told The Daily Telegraph that a woman came to her house inquiring about the child. โSomeone knocked on our door, asked if we had seen the little girl. She said she was concerned for the childโs welfare. She said she was the next of kin.
โShe asked if I had a ladder. I told her if she was really concerned, she should ring the police.โ

A toddler has been found dead at a home in Sydneyโs southwest, and itโs believed she died in the bath and may have been there for days.
Emergency services were called to the home in Miller around midday, by a concerned friend who was worried for the childโs welfare. But the girl was declared dead at the scene, according to news.com.au.

Hillary Clinton is having a bad week. She was diagnosed with pneumonia and collapsed while attending a memorial for the September 11 attacks in New York.
Now questions are being raised about the robustness of her health and her fitness, literally, for the presidency.
(Credit: Getty)
But for my money the most discouraging episode of Clintonโs week was the moment when she felt it necessary to explain to voters why she sometimes comes across as โaloof or cold or unemotionalโ, or โwalled offโ.
An explanation precisely zero male politicians have ever had to make.
In a stealth public relations move, Clinton featured on the popular blog โHumans of New Yorkโ, which tells the stories of everyday New Yorkers.
Pictured in one of her trademark pantsuits, Clinton tells the story of taking the law admissions test at Harvard, as one of two women in the room.
They faced, she said, a barrage of harassment from the male students. โA group of men began to yell things like: โYou donโt need to be here.โ And โThereโs plenty else you can do.โ It turned into a real โpile onโ. One of them even said: โIf you take my spot, Iโll get drafted, and Iโll go to Vietnam, and Iโll die.โโ Faced with this kind of harassment and emotional blackmail, Clinton buttoned herself down.
As she entered public life, it became a self-preserving habit.
โI had to learn as a young woman to control my emotions,โ she wrote. โBecause you need to protect yourself, you need to keep steady, but at the same time you donโt want to seem walled off.โ
She then apologises and โtakes responsibility forโ appearing unemotional.
What Clinton describes โ that fine balance between drawing a psychological boundary around yourself, yet worrying that in doing so you will be labelled a bitch โ is familiar to every woman whoโs ever faced a male bully.
And so, pretty much all of us.
โI had to learn to control my emotionsโฆ. but at the same time you donโt want to seem walled offโ
Hillary Clinton, Democratic presidential nominee
Ever been in a bar, or queueing for the train, or even just walking down the street and minding your own business, only to have a random man yell at you, โHey, cheer up! It might never happen!โ like he is the worldโs most Wildean wit?
That is what Clinton is facing on a national, and even a global scale.
The criticisms of Clinton as cold, lacking empathy, lacking the human touch, being โbad with peopleโ have always been with her, but have intensified during the presidential race, where such a premium is put on charisma and compelling oratory.
It is a race which implicitly favour men, because itโs only men who have ever competed in it.
Clintonโs acknowledged skills โ listening, and efficiently getting things done behind the scenes โ are just not performative enough.
Listening and crunching policy compromises donโt make for a good grab on the nightly news, and they canโt be reduced to a quote or a sound bite to feed the media beast.
So Clinton goes out and plays the game and does what doesnโt come naturally to her โ orating, pressing the flesh, trying to pass the โfront barโ test, where you have to come across as the kinda swell guy voters would like to have a beer and shoot the breeze with.
For that, shows of emotion are required. But hereโs the catch. Showing excess emotion is precisely the thing women in politics get criticised for doing.
Remember when Julia Gillard was criticised for not showing enough emotion over the Queensland flood victims? And then she teared up in parliament and it was viewed as somehow emotionally manipulative? She couldnโt win.
Hillary has a similar problem. She is being urged to show voters something approximating the charisma of Barack Obama, or her husband Bill Clinton.
But while she exerts herself in that way, she cannot over-reach, because then she will be written off as angry, shrill, or the worst thing a woman seeking a serious job can be called: โemotionalโ.
Is it any wonder that sometimes Clintonโs underlying irritation shows? Why should it matter if some voters think sheโs a cold fish?
Is she competent, is she qualified? Will she do a good job?

A wealthy dentist who was arrested on suspicion of killing his wife was the victim of continual โphysically and emotionallyโ abuse at her hands, an inquest in Britain heard today.
Stephen Nicoll, 54, was arrested over the death of his wife Helen, also a dentist, after she hanged herself in the hall of their $2.6 million dollar home in Cambridgeshire in June last year.
At the time Police initially treated her death as suspicious, but Mr Nicholl was given police bail shortly after being questioned. The evidence presented at the inquest instead suggested Mrs Nicollโs family โ including her two daughters โ were in fact the real victims of her abuse.
Mrs Nicoll pushed her children to excel, especially in music, and was investigated by police over the alleged assault of her oldest daughter, Georgia, several years ago. However in February 2015, when a patient of 20 years began trying to sue her, Mrs Nicollโs behaviour became increasingly erratic, and eventually lead to her expressing suicidal thoughts. She also became paranoid her husband was having an affair, which he denied. She was prescribed antidepressants and also began to drink heavily.
Helen Nicoll
The inquest heard that on the night of her death, Mr Nicoll returned home from meeting their daughter Georgia in London at around 11.30pm.
He said: โShe walked up to me and said โyou have been talking about me to Georgiaโ and slapped me across the face.โ She continued slapping me across the face, sometimes she pretended to slap me and as I tried to duck she was laughing.โ
The assault continued when he went to bed, where he said Mrs Nicoll struck him with her elbow and kicked him in the face. He said she then smashed her head on the bedside table because she โwas very aware of covering her tracks and she could see that my face was marked as a result of the injuryโ.
He added that she later sent pictures of the marks on her forehead to the children, saying โthis is what your father did to meโ. Later that morning, at around 6am, he went downstairs and found his wife hanging in the hallway.
Yet instead of calling emergency straight away, Mr Nicoll first called his golf partner to cancel the game they had scheduled, then rang his children. At 6.27 am he rang emergency services. โWhen I first found her I rushed to cut her down. It then became apparent to me that she was clearly dead and I did not want to start resuscitation,โ he told the court.
DCI Jerry Waite led the investigation and said that despite the bruise he decided to release Mr Nicoll without charge after he found no inconsistencies in his account. He said: โI believe that Stephen Nicoll was probably of victim of domestic violence. โ

The Coalition's plan means $7.5 million will go towards anti gay marriage campaigns and that's going to have serious consequences for hundreds of thousands young people.
I was 21 when I told my dad I was gay. I asked if we could go for a drive as I needed to complete my hours to get my license. We drove for almost two hours in the rain and I remember him questioning why I was driving so terribly. I blamed it on the weather but really I was trying to figure out how to tell him โI liked dudesโ as I so eloquently put it at the time.
Iโve always been a bit of late bloomer in most aspects of my life but I remember in that moment wondering if maybe Iโd told him too soon, maybe I wasnโt ready. He sat in silence as we continued through the endless downpour until he said calmly and with a smile โI knowโฆnow take the next right son.โ
In high school I studied contemporary dance and ballet and, in retrospect, I was lucky I made it through relatively unscathed. While I had the support of my peers and family I wasnโt immune from bullying. People asked me when I was going to pirouette out of the closet and I was constantly questioned about why I didnโt have a girlfriend.
But thatโs nothing compared to the bullying that many fear will take place in the lead-up to the same-sex marriage plebiscite.
On Monday, the Coalition proposed a plan for a plebiscite (a non-binding public vote on whether same-sex marriage should be introduced).
Under the plan, $15 million of taxpayersโ money will be supplied to both sides of the debate โ the โyesโ and โnoโ campaigns on same-sex marriage.
This means that $7.5 million will go towards anti-gay groups, who will unleash an avalanche of hateful messages upon the LGBTI community.
What makes this even more unbelievable is that we know that most Australians support same-sex marriage. (An estimated 72 percent of the general public is behind marriage equality).
And we also know that one in five lesbian, gay or bisexual Australians currently experience depression, and that up to 80 per cent of LGBTI teens have experienced homophobic language at schools.
Georgie Harman, CEO of beyondblue said โWe know about 10 percent of young people are same-sex attracted or are experiencing gender identity issues. This is not a small number.โ
I was 21 when I found the courage to come to terms with my sexuality and who I was. Just imagine how difficult it would be for the youth of today to walk the streets and see anti gay marriage campaigns plastered on billboards while they make their way to school. Just imagine if it was you or your child. Couple that with the fact that the plebiscite will give every bigot an excuse and a platform to spread homophobic slurs, I cant help but feel it will undermine all the progress we have made so far.
Same sex marriage has been approved in 21 countries and while Australia is well behind our international peers, exposing the LQBTI community to public ridicule from our own government is not the way to achieve equality.
But donโt take my word for it.
Last year Ireland held a plebiscite (before eventually legalising same-sex marriage) โ and it was reportedly โbrutalโ for LGBT people and their families. These are just a few examples of what we can expect to see on our screens and on our streets if the plebiscite goes ahead.

Newborn twins were admitted to hospital this week after being left in the care of a nanny their parents found on Facebook.
The babies, just a few weeks old were admitted to Brisbaneโs Lady Cilento Childrenโs Hospital after their mother was unable to wake them for their night feed.
Queensland police confirmed they are investigating a 41-year-old woman who was working without the required Blue Card.
The Courier Mail reports that the woman was a live-in nanny, hired to help the first-time parents, and the mother is understood to have been at home at the time.
The parents reportedly found the woman after she advertised her services on a Facebook page for parents with some 3,000 members and was also recommended by another family.
The woman will front court on September 26.
โWe are shocked at the Australian Nanny Association by the reports that are coming to light in this case and feel terrible for the family involved,โ president of the Australian Nanny Association Annemarie Sansom told News Corp.
โThis person stated that they had a Working With Children Check and other background information but unfortunately the family was not aware that they needed to sight this documentation and verify it,โ she continued.
โIn fact the person did not hold a Working With Children Check and had an existing criminal record.โ
Unregulated nannies is a growing concern as the costs of childcare continue to rise and parents are seeking alternative avenues.
The Australian Nanny Association are urging parents to ensure they run thorough background checks and the legal requirements involved when leaving their child in the care of someone else.
โPeople working with children in all states and territories either require a Working With Children Check or Working With Vulnerable People Check,โ Samson continued.
โIt is standard industry practice that nannies hold current first aid and CPR, have undertaken professional development training in child care and can also provide recent contactable professional child care related referees.โ

After losing her younger brother to whooping cough a little girl has asked a heartbreaking question about her newborn sister, as her parents lobby for pregnancy vaccination
โCan we keep her forever?โ pleaded four-year-old Olivia Hughes as she snuggled with her baby sister Lucy for the first time.
Oliviaโs seemingly innocent request ran deeper than simply wanting to take home the gurgling bundle for cuddles and playtime.
Last March, Oliviaโs younger brother Riley died at just 32 days from pneumonia-based complications arising from whooping cough.
Amid the tragedy, his parents Catherine and Greg Hughes searched for answers and began researching whooping cough vaccinations. They found that an immunisation during Catherineโs pregnancy could have saved their baby.
Olivia with baby Lucy (Credit: Facebook/Light for Riley)
โStudies show not only is it safe, but if a mum has a pregnancy vaccination for whooping cough, her baby is 90 per cent less likely to catch this disease,โ the Perth mother has said. โUnfortunately, it wasnโt offered to me โฆ Riley would still probably be here if I had known about whooping cough vaccination in pregnancy.โ
The Perth couple has made it their mission to raise awareness of whooping cough and thanks to their relentless lobbying, mothers-to-be in WA are now offered a free jab to protect their newborns against the potentially deadly infection.
Meanwhile, the Hughes welcomed baby Lucy last month, a bittersweet time for the family.
โI cried as we left the hospital โ the last time weโd left a hospital, we were leaving a baby behind,โ Catherine has said. โSometimes I stare at [Lucy] and feel guilty that sheโs alive and Riley isnโt. I know these arenโt very rational thoughts or feelings, but I just feel so bad that heโs gone.โ
But baby Riley will never be forgotten, as the couple continues to fight against vaccine-preventable illnesses in his name.
Speaking to the ABC, said Catherine: โWe will keep doing what we can to protect babies from these diseases, which I hope one day will be relegated to the history books.โ

Sure, we know a lot about the Queenโs hobbies. She loves horse racing and corgis and Eastenders (yes, really). But new photos have revealed her other secret passion: Getting behind the wheel and putting a pedal to the metal. Over the weekend pictures have emerged of of Her Majesty behind the wheel of a Range Rover ferrying not only the Duchess of Cambridge but also Kateโs mother, Carole, around the Balmoral Castle estate. According to People, Her Majesty was shuttling the Middleton women to and from a late summer picnic with William.
She may be 90, but Queen Elizabeth has been spotted behind the wheel, chauffeuring the Duchess of Cambridge. #9Todaypic.twitter.com/OvoG3JRHxA
Itโs not the first time that the 90-year-old has put the pedal to the metal for a guests: In 1998 she surprised Crown Prince Abdullah of Saudi Arabia, in whose own country it is illegal for women to drive, by taking the wheel and personally driving him around her estate. According to The Times, His Royal Highness begged the Queen, via his interpreter, to slow down as they traversed the Scottish countryside, The Times has reported.
In fact, according to those who have actually ridden shotgun with the great-grandmother, she really does adore being in the drivers seat. โThe Queen loves to drive around Windsor Castle and does her own driving when at home, often in a Land Rover (it has been said that she has always preferred manual to automatic),โ Vanity Fair contributing editor Reinaldo Herrera, has written.
The Queen is said to have learned to drive during the second world war when she drove a first aid truck and, we would guess, is the only reigning sovereign who actually knows how to change a spark plug. And while she doesnโt have a license, she doesnโt actually need one. She is the only person in the U.K. Who does not need to have a license or even number plate on her state car.

The Gilmore Girls revival is oh so close, November 25 to be exact, and the creators canโt stop dropping hints about what awaits.
Last week show runner Amy Sherman-Palladino released the first page of the script from episode one, but the latest snippet from Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life, has us reaching for the tissue box.
The photo shows the Gilmore women, Rory, Lorelai and Emily dressed up holding bunches of flowers, paying tribute to Richard. Edward Herrmann, who played Richard, passed away in December 2014.
When the cast reunited at the ATX Television Festival last year, they left an empty chair for their lost cast member.
(Credit: Netflix)
Sherman-Palladino has said that she wants the revival to honor Hermann, and it looks like this photo is apart of that.
So in between tears, we will continue re-watching the entire series before A Year In The Life hits Netflix.

Amanda Seyfried has confirmed she is engaged to fellow actor Thomas Sadoski after six months of dating.
Reps for the pair confirmed the happy news to US Weekly.
โTommy and Amanda recently got engaged and shared the happy news with family and close friends,โ a source told the publication.
The couple met in 2015 when they starred together in the off-Broadway show โThe Way We Get Byโ and they then reportedly sparked up a relationship when they starred together again at the beginning of this year in the upcoming film The Last Word.
The 30-year-old actress split with boyfriend of two years, Justin Long, in September 2015, while Sadoski, 40, and his wife of eight years separated in July 2015.

Yesterday the NSW government announced a $1 million reward for anyone with information regarding the disappearance of missing toddler William Tyrrell.
The reward is the largest in NSW history and police are hopeful it will encourage anyone with information to come forward.
However families of other missing loved ones are calling for there to be uniformity in rewards offered.
Currently in NSW rewards are determined by the NSW Policeโs Rewards Evaluation Advisory Committee who lodge an application in line with the investigation to the Police and Justice Minister, reports SMH.
โWe are looking to see uniformity because right now itโs arbitrary โฆ it is like weighting a personโs life,โ Mark Leveson, whose son Matthew disappeared, and was believed murdered, in 2007, tells SMH.
There is currently a $100,000 reward for information on his sonโs whereabouts.
Victoria and South Australia are currently offering $1 million rewards for unsolved homicide cases.
โItโs like saying, โThis person is worth more than this personโ, and that is how it appears to people and to us,โ added Faye Levenson. โIn our case Matthewโs life isnโt worth as much as the person that got $250,000.โ
Questions remain over whether the rewards system actually works.
When Deputy Premier Police Minister Troy Grant was asked whether they would consider a review of the rewards system he told SMH:
โRewards are one avenue of investigation for police to appeal to the public for information about an unsolved case. The offer of a reward might be enough to trigger someoneโs memory or encourage someone who has been withholding information to come forward.โ

Over a month since Karina Vetrano was found dead near her home in Queens, New York on August 2, chilling footage from moments before her death has emerged.
In the footage, released by Crime Watch Daily, the 30-year-old can be clearly seen jogging on the street in broad daylight.
Police are hopeful that the footage will spark someone who might have information on the crime to come forward.
Vetranoโs father Phillip has also revealed that police are currently searching for a man who used to jog โfour or five days a weekโ on the same trail as Katrina.
โThis is a very important lead,โ he said in an interview with The Drive at Five with Curtis Sliwa.
โI would see him almost every day and now heโs dropped off the face of the earth,โ he said. โItโs very important that we speak to him, because he might have seen something.โ
It was her father who alerted police to his daughterโs disappearance in August 2 when she failed to return home from her run.
She ran the same route almost everyday near their home in Howard Beach, Queens, usually with her father, but that day he stayed home due to a sore back, reports the NY Times.
He urged her not to take this route, which cut through a secluded path without him there, but she reassured him she would be fine.
When she didnโt return home on time, her retired firefighter father knew something was wrong. Calling a neighbor who was the local police commander, they began a desperate search.
Using phone signals to narrow the search, it was her own father who discovered her lifeless body, face down, with her clothes partially removed, in tall grass alongside an emergency trail a way off the running track.
Her father has since set up a GoFUndMe page in the hopes of raising money for a reward for information on his daughterโs killer.

The internet loves a conspiracy theory. And the latest has to do with Hillary Clinton.
After collapsing during a 9/11 memorial event on Sunday in New York City, the US presidential hopeful left abruptly after being escorted into a vehicle. Doctors said she was dehydrated, and had been diagnosed with pneumonia just two days earlier.
After being taken to her daughter Chelseaโs home in Manhattan, Clinton emerged hours later, smiling for waiting photographers.
And this is where the body double theory beginsโฆ
#HillarysBodyDouble started trending on Twitter when the photos emerged of Hillary out and about.

Thereโs no doubt Victoria Beckhamโs style has changed dramatically over the years, but her latest look is one we wouldnโt usually associate with the polished fashion designer.
The mother of four stepped out on the runway after her show during New York Fashion Week sporting an over-sized shirt, a pair of low-slung linen pants, black sash around the waist โ and a pair of black leather flats.
The relaxed silhouette, which carried through her new collection, is miles away from the sky-high heels and figure-hugging pencil skirts she was once famous for wearing.
โI really feel Iโve come into my own this season,โ the designer said backstage.
โThis is how I want to dress now. Itโs looser, much more effortless, more comfortable. I wanted the clothes to look like theyโd just been thrown on.โ

An Indian acid attack survivor has walked the runway at New York Fashion Week in a bid to change the conversation around beauty, and give a voice to survivors.
In 2014 Reshma Qureshi, 19, survived a concentrated sulfuric acid attack from her brother-in-law and two other men.
She has since been the face of rehabilitation charity Make Love Not Scars fronting a global campaign to try and #EndAcidSale in India.
Qureshi had never left India before and suffered depression and suicidal thoughts following her brutal attack that left her disfigured and without one eye. When FTL MODA contacted her to join their #TakeBackBeauty campaign she was moved to tears when she learned she would walk the runway.
Overwhelmed and excited, she joined the movement to empower other survivors that it is possible to โlead normal livesโ reports the Independent.
Opening Indian designer Archana Kochharโs show, Qureshi walked barefoot with a beaming smile and looked every bit the model in a white long-sleeve gown with embroidered details.
โThis walk was important to me because there are so many girls like me who are survivors of acid attacks, and this will give them courage and it will also go to show people who judge people based on their appearance that you shouldnโt judge a book by itโs cover, you should look at everyone through the same eyes.โ
Jaf Shah, executive director of London-based charity Acid Survivors Trust International told the SMH โthere are whole swathes of regions across the globe where acid attacks are occurring but are not being recorded.โ
India currently has the highest number of recorded attacks and itโs people like Quershi and FTL Moda coming forward and providing a platform to confront this issue on a global scale that we will hopefully see changes for the better.

Fans of popular body transformation show, The Biggest Loser, have been saddened to hear that their two favourite instructors, Michelle Bridges and Steve โCommandoโ Willis, will not be returning for the next season.
Channel Ten announced yesterday that the duo will be replaced by Sydney trainer Libby Babet.
Libby and existing personality Shannan Ponton will be the lead trainers on the series.
Titled The Biggest Loser: Transformed, Bridges and Willisโ departure isnโt the only change being rolled out.
โThe biggest difference for me this time around is that the show is going to be much more relatable to a wider audience,โ Ponton told News.com.au. Not just for the obese, Ponton said they want people who are on the โslideโ.
โYou donโt have to be 180 kilos for bad health or bad habits to adversely affect your life,โ he said. โRather than just the people who are 200 plus kilos, we want people who are on the slide โ and if something doesnโt come up now then theyโre going to end up super unhealthy and overweight in the future.โ

Indigenous man Jarred Wall gave new meaning to the term โkill them with kindnessโ when he sent over a pot of tea to two elderly ladies who he overheard having an offensive, racist conversation in a Perth cafรฉ.
Instead of responding angrily, Mr Wall, who was lunching with a friend at a nearby table, bought them a cup of tea and wrote a personalized note on the receipt which read: Enjoy the tea! Compliments of the 2 Aboriginals sitting next to you on table 26.โ
Mr Wall took to Facebook to describe the incident, saying that he hoped the two women โwill be a little wiser and think before they speak,โ before adding the hashtags #blacklivesmatter. โHopefully there wonโt be a next time!โ
His perfectly poised reaction to the incident has since gone viral, with more than 2,000 shares and 22,000 reactions โ including his Mum, who has praised her sonโs mature response.

This yearโs Awards Season chatter has been seriously lacking in anything resembling a frontrunner. Last year everyone knew that Leonardo DiCaprio would finally win his Oscar, and most people hoped (and were rewarded in spades) when Spotlight rode its wave of critical and commercial acclaim to a Best Picture Oscar in March.
But this year has been a strange, murky one for cinema, with some buzzy movies failing to live up to the hype, and no sleeper hits from the northern hemisphere summer to speak of.
That is, excepting Birth of a Nation. The film about a slave rebellion in pre-civil war era America debuted at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year and was purchased by Fox Searchlight for a record-breaking, splashy US$17.5 million after an all-night bidding war that included executives from Netflix and The Weinstein Company.
Back in January at the Sundance Film Festival, Birth of a Nation had all the makings of an Oscar frontrunner. Loosely based on the true story of Nat Turner, a slave who spearheaded a slave rebellion in Virginia in 1831. Directed, co-written, produced and staring Nate Parker alongside Armie Hammer and Gabrielle Union, the film deals with hot-topic talking points including race and sexual assault (a key moment in the film involves a brutal rape of Unionโs character). The film just screened at the Toronto Film Festival, where it received a standing ovation.
But, since mid-August, the film has also been mired in controversy, with the resurfacing of a 17 year old rape allegation of Parker and his co-writer Jean McGianni Celestin when the pair were students at Penn State in 1999.
The cast of Birth of a Nation including Parker (second from left)
The facts of the case, briefly, are thus: Jane Doe, 18, alleged that she passed out drunk in Parkerโs student flat, waking up to find Parker having sex with her, and later, waking again to find Celestinโs โpenis in [her] mouth.โ The case went to trial in 2001 and Parker was ultimately acquitted, although Celestin was convicted, which was later overturned after he argued successfully that his defence had been inadequate.
The allegation is a matter of public record. It appears on Parkerโs Wikipedia page, and has been discussed by the actor/director previously in the media. The director has always maintained his innocence, in the same way that Jane Doe has always insisted that her version of the nightโs events โ that she didnโt give consent to the sexual encounter โ was the true one. Twice in the aftermath of the court case she attempted to commit suicide. She later dropped out of university, and in 2012 committed suicide overdosed on sleeping pills, her brother alleged in an interview with Variety.
โThe trial was pretty tough for her,โ Jane Doeโs brother told Variety. โShe became detached from realityโฆ The progression was very quick and she took her life.โ
Nate Parker at the Toronto Film Festival
After Jane Doeโs brother spoke to Variety, Parker responded with the following Facebook post:
โI cannot โ nor do I want to ignore the pain she endured during and following our trial. While I maintain my innocence that the encounter was unambiguously consensual, there are things more important the lawโฆ I look back on that time, my indignant attitude and my heartfelt mission to prove my innocent with eyes that are more wise with time. I see now that I may not have shown enough empathy for the seriousness of the situation I put myself and others in.โ
Almost simultaneously, Birth of a Nationโs star Gabrielle Union โ who herself is the victim of rape โ wrote a passionate op-ed for the Los Angeles Times, in which she revealed she had read all 700 pages of Parker and Celestinโs trial transcript, and she was โin a state of stomach-churning confusionโ about how to feel.
โOn that night, 17 years ago, did Nate have his dateโs consent? Itโs very possible he thought he did. Yet by his own admission he did not have verbal affirmation; and even if she never said โno,โ, silence certainly doesnโt equal โyesโ. Although itโs often difficult to read and understand body language, the fact that some individuals interpret the absence of a โnoโ as a โyesโ is problematic at least, criminal at worst. Thatโs why education on this issue is so vital.โ
Gabrielle Union and Nate Parker
As Vox discussed late last month, and as referenced in Unionโs op-ed, the vocabulary, definition and boundaries by which we conceive of rape have shifted significantly in the 15 years since the trial. In particular, discussion around rape culture in the American collegiate landscape has taken centre stage this year, with high profile cases such as the Stanford rapist dominating the news cycle.
Since releasing the statement on his Facebook page, Parker has distanced himself from the allegations. While appearing at the Toronto Film Festival to fete the film he directed, produced, co-wrote and starred in, Parker would not be drawn on questions about the trial.
โIโve addressed [the allegation], and Iโm sure in future forms Iโll address it more,โ Parker said at a press conference. Later he responded to another question by saying โIโve addressed this a few times. This [press conference] is a forum for the film and for the other people sitting on this stage. I do not own it. It is not mine. So I donโt want to hijack this with my personal life.โ
Union however, who appeared at the press conference beside Parker, told the assembled media that her op-ed had received a โtremendousโ response.
โFive per cent of me feels like I threw Nate under the bus. Five per cent of me feels like I am a rape apologist.โ
More important for the actress was continuing to be โa voice for people who are voiceless and powerlessโ and using her celebrity to speak out about sexual violence.
โYou are not broken, you are not alone, you have a tremendous amount of support whether you want to speak out or not. You are valid, you are loved, and you are worthwhileโฆ Iโll keep saying it and I will continue saying it after this movie.โ
People are already boycotting the movie and the American Film Institute has โpostponedโ (read: cancelled) a screening of the movie after receiving an influx of complaints.
โFor a lot of different reasons this filmโs going to be difficult to see for a lot of people, and I get it,โ Union told E! at the Toronto Film Festival. โThere are movies I sit out, so I understand Iโd be a hypocrite to say I donโt.โ
The film opens in America next month and in Australia in February next year.

A mother has been charged with criminal homicide, involuntary manslaughter and child endangerment after her two-month-old baby suffocated in her bed.
Jessica M Harperโs son died from asphyxiation while co-sleeping in her bed on July 12 in Peach Bottom, Pennsylvania.
The 28-year-old had previously lost a two-month-old son to asphyxiation in 2011 and had served 85 days in jail. She had reportedly left the baby on the couch with a blanket while she went upstairs.
Just days before the death, doctors had reportedly urged Harper not to practice co-sleeping due to the risks involved, and according to ABC when the child was born she signed documents confirming that โshe acknowledged safe sleeping.โ
Police were called to the womanโs on September 8 and the baby was found unconscious after having slept between his mother and three-year-old sister reports Fox, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
โHarper was warned numerous times by multiple medical professionals not to have the infant sleep in a bed next to her; Harper ignored those directives,โ said the Lancaster County District Attorneyโs Office said in a statement.
Harper has been taken into custody and social services are caring for her other children.
โSharing a sleep surface with a baby increases the risk of Sudden Unexpected Death in Infancy (SUDI), including SIDS and fatal sleeping accidents in some circumstances,โ reads the SidsAndKids website.
If parents choose to sleep with their baby they must be aware of both the consequences and the risk involved and make an informed decision to do so. Click here and here for more information on safe sleeping practices.

It took a drive-by shooting to convince Tiarni Butters, 19, to stop using ice (aka crystal meth). โThere was five bullets through the front window. Thatโs what made me switch on straight away that this is enough โ like, I could have got shot right there and then. Itโs ridiculous.โ
The terrifying epiphany came after eight months of moving between ice dealersโ homes. Crack dens. Her father, Wayne, had stopped working just so he could pursue Tiarni all over Melbourne, following leads from Facebook. He would trick dealers into letting him through high-security doors, but Tiarni wouldnโt leave with him.
โI would hide under a bed in case he came in and tried to find me. I didnโt want him to see me like that,โ she told the ABCโs Four Corners program Monday night (available on iView).
Wayne was horrified by what he saw while searching for his teenage daughter.
โI have been in houses where thereโs been 14-year-old kids there. The house stinks. These kids stay in there for days and weeks, mate. You canโt stand the smell,โ he recalled in the episode dubbed โRehab Incโ.
Renee and Wayne Butters. Image: Four Corners
Wayne broke. One day, he went back to the car, grabbed an axe and hacked through a dealerโs front door. โI did some horrible things to get my daughter out. I turned their water off, I turned their gas off, I pinched their power fuse. I smashed their windows. They worked, but it exhausted me.โ
Tiarni eventually came home. But Wayne and his wife Renee faced a new, unimaginable obstacle. Private rehabilitation centres can cost up to $30,000 per month, and they couldnโt bear to wait up to six months for a spot in a free, public facility. Seeing the โpullโ ice has on users, they were racing against the clock to find Tiarni treatment before she fled and starting using again. In the end, a volunteer helped them negotiate a half-price deal on her rehab. They sold the family car and were left with $139 in their bank account.
Sadly, the Buttersโ story isnโt a unique one. Parents are remortgaging homes, chipping into superannuation, and taking out loans to pay for their childrenโs rehab. It often takes more than one stint to get a user off ice, which means families could fork out more than $60,000.
Tiarni Butters, 19. Image: Four Corners
According to a National Ice Taskforce report released in 2015, use of ice in Australia doubled between 2010 and 2015 โ to 200,000 users.
Last year, there were more than 32,000 requests for treatment around Australia. To meet the demand, private clinics are popping up โ and theyโre unregulated. โI could start a rehab up tomorrow and hire staff who arenโt suitably qualified, call it a rehab, and charge top dollar with no questions asked,โ said Ruben Ruolle, head of the Drug and Alcohol unit at Western Health, a major public hospital network in Melbourne.
Talking to Four Corners, Professor Dan Lubman, from the Turning Point Drug and Alcohol Centre, added that private facilities arenโt necessarily better than the public system. And families who are unhappy with the treatment have nowhere to turn other than the courts.
In December last year, Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull announced a plan to tackle the ice epidemic, including funding for families to access rehabilitation. โIn response to the National Ice Taskforce Final Report, released in December 2015, the Australian Government is providing an additional $298.2 million over four years from 1 July 2016 towards a number of measures to reduce the impacts associated with drug and alcohol misuse to individuals, communities and families,โ a spokesperson for the Federal Department of Health told marie claire. โThis funding will strengthen education, prevention, treatment, support and community engagement, and is provided under the National Ice Action Strategy.โ
Hopefully this funding gives families like Tiarni Buttersโ the help they need.

Thanks to Alexander Wangโs cryptic social media countdowns and penchant for tongue-in-cheek theatrics (pole dancers were a highlight last season), his show is always one of the most highly anticipated of New York Fashion Week.
As expected, Spring โ17 lived up to the hype. Famous fans Madonna, Zoe Kravitz and Kylie Jenner sat front row. Wangโs squad of in-demand models like Kendall Jenner, Lexi Boling and Binx Walton took to the runway. The epic after-party was catered by 7-Eleven and McDonaldโs.
But what of the clothes?
They didnโt disappoint, either. Neon bike caps and Point Break-esque sweatshirts are sure to appeal to his #instafamous followers, but there was plenty for mere mortals to enjoy- deconstructed shirting and pinstripes perfect for the modern workplace, weekend-ready distressed denim and lace-trimmed slip dresses come cocktail hour. Wang signatures- 90s silhouettes, masculine fabrics, sporty undertones- were reinvented with mesh inserts, hits of animal print and top-stitched finishes.
Another headline-making highlight? The unveiling of the 84-piece adidas Originals x Alexander Wang capsule collection, which will land online early 2017. Expect to see all the cool kids in black tracksuit pants, tees and hoodies with adidasโ signature stripes and logos flipped upside down.

One look at Jessica Albaโs healthy figure, and we want to know everything about her workout routine and how she gets that envy-inducing fit body.
Luckily, she shared all about her exercise habits with Shape magazine, and itโs surprisingly doable.
โIf I work out four times, I consider it a successful week,โ the 35-year-old actress told the magazine in her cover interview.
โItโs typically more like two to three days a week because thatโs what I have time for.โ
The actress and co-founder of billion dollar company, Honest, admitted that she prefers morning workouts and taking spin and hot yoga classes, and tries to head outside for a hike, swim or bike ride.
Without a super strict workout routine, Alba relies on sticking to a healthy diet.
She doesnโt eat gluten, diary, fried or processed foods. โMy diet is much more important if Iโm trying to slim down. In that case, I usually donโt eat gluten, dairy, fried foods, or processed foods,โ the mum-of-two explains.
โI try to stick to a diet thatโs low in sugar and carbs and high in lean protein and vegetables.โ
But that doesnโt mean she totally keeps away from a treat. โAlso, while I donโt usually have dessert, I do really like strawberry shortcake. I mean I really, really like it.โ

During this past northern hemisphere summer, the actress had โbeen using Chanel Hydra Beauty Serum as my moisturizer.โ
As a face of the brand, Kruger would know all about this serumโs hyaluronic-acid packed formula that hydrates skin so well you can skip the moisturiser. Plus it feels practically weightless. Because there are few things worse than wearing a heavy moisturiser when the mercury is rising.
Of course, Kruger is also smart about suncare: โI always wear sunscreen.โ

Weโve witnessed Victoria Beckhamโs ever-changing style from her Posh Spice days to fully-fledged fashion designer, and her latest look is the best we have ever seen her in.
Stepping out after one of the biggest events in her fashion career, the Victoria Beckham show at New York Fashion Week, the 42-year-old stunned in a coordinated lilac floral top and midi skirt from her Spring 2017 ready-to-wear collection.
For the Beckham family lunch at Balthazar, the designer paired the look with nude heels, the mint Tissue bag from her collection, her signature oversized black sunglasses and gold jewellery.

The NSW government have announced a $1 million reward for anyone with information regarding the disappearance of missing toddler William Tyrrell.
The development was announced by NSW Police Commissioner Andrew Scipione and Premier Mike Baird today, on the second anniversary of the three-year-oldโs disappearance.
โWe are providing the largest ever reward to bring back William to his family, to his community,โ said Baird during a press conference.
โThose million dollars, we hope, encourage anyone with any information to come forward.โ
Police announce $1mil reward for vital information that leads to the safe return of missing William Tyrrell. #7Newshttps://t.co/YO9YQeOMp6
William was last seen wearing a Spiderman costume in his grandmotherโs backyard in Kendall, near Port Macquarie on September 12, 2014.
The reward is the largest ever in NSWโs history, and unlike other rewards, this is for the location of the child and is not contingent on a conviction, reports SMH.
โItโs unacceptable that two years down the track we havenโt found out whatโs happened to William,โ said Detective Chief Inspector Gary Jubelin who assured anyone who has information regarding Williamโs location they would not be in trouble for not coming forward sooner.
โIโm confident in saying itโs only a matter of time before we find out whatโs happened to William and if we come to you, the offer of the reward is off the table.โ

Bradley Cooper stepped out for a run in Santa Monica, Los Angeles yesterday, and youโd been forgiven for not recognising the Hollywood star.
The 41-year-old was sporting a beard more bushier than usual, and showed off his beefed up biceps in a black singlet, and covered that famous face with shades and a cap.
Earlier in the week Cooper stepped out to buy groceries with pop star Lady Gaga. The two are starring together in a remake of the 1937 classic film A Star Is Born.
Gaga tweeted her excitement to be working with the Oscar nominated star:
Im elated to be directed by & starring w/ Bradley in this project. He's a brilliant visionary artist. #AStarIsBorn#AStarIsBornCooperGaga

Sheโs one of the most famous models of all time, a style icon with โthe London lookโ who earns millions of dollars a year, but career success was by no means guaranteed for Kate Moss
The dress is bigger than she is. On a cool October evening, a 20-year-old Kate Moss stands backstage at Paris Fashion Week, her slight frame engulfed by a vast ruffled crinoline and a boned white corset. A powdered wig tops her mousey brown hair, and she has two pink circles of doll-like blusher on her cheeks. The effect is part regal, part kid at a fancy dress party. Never has she looked so delicate and yet so powerful.
Designer John Galliano fusses with the back of her skirt as he delivers some pointers for the catwalk. Moss approaches modelling like an actor with a role; she likes to get in character. โIf you hear a wolf, you can look round like this,โ says Galliano, glancing over one shoulder and widening his eyes for dramatic effect. For now, the wolves are safely on the soundtrack to his spring/summer 1994 show, inspired by the tale of a Russian princess on the run.
What Moss cannot know is that looking constantly over her shoulder will soon become her norm. The London schoolgirl is about to become one of the paparazziโs most hunted prizes. She has already appeared topless with Mark Wahlberg (alias Marky Mark) in a Calvin Klein underwear advertisement, and soon she will meet the second of her famous boyfriends Johnny Depp in a New York bar (her first was photographer Mario Sorrenti, and two rock stars await in her love lifeโs future).
Moss is destined to grace the cover of every major fashion magazine, walk the biggest runways and lend her image to cosmetics and fragrance giants. She will be the subject of songs, dreams and tabloid gossip. By the time Moss, in another Galliano gown, weds The Kills guitarist Jamie Hince in 2011, she is arguably the most famous model in the world.
โMossโs silence about herself is an integral part of the elusive gift that has made her one of fashionโs greatest influences.โ
She is a style icon, muse, total enigma and sometime designer โ her first Topshop collection in 2007 sold out in minutes, and has fronted cosmetics powerhouse Rimmel London for 15 years, becoming one of the longest serving ambassadors for a beauty brand. We, therefore, know every contour of her face, and yet little of her inner life. As journalist James Fox, who was granted a rare interview in 2012 for Vanity Fair, puts it: โMossโs silence about herself is an integral part of the elusive gift that has made her one of fashionโs greatest influences.โ Yet it nearly didnโt happen.
Kate Moss was raised in Croydon, an unremarkable town on the outskirts of London, the eldest child of Linda, a shop assistant, and Peter, who worked for an airline. They divorced when Kate was 13, and her brother, Nick, was 10. A year later, Moss was on holiday with her father in the US when the model agent Sarah Doukas approached them. Doukas is known for her keen โeyeโ. While Moss remains her most famous discovery, Doukas also signed up Liberty Ross, Behati Prinsloo and Cara Delevingne.
Back in 1989, she had been running her London agency, Storm Model Management, for less than two years when she spied Moss arguing with her dad at New Yorkโs JFK airport. Mossโs heart-shaped face, high cheekbones, hazel eyes and obvious spirit stood out. Doukas recognised Mossโs potential, but her clients took some convincing. This was the era of the Amazonian supermodel, when Linda Evangelista wouldnโt get out of bed for less than $10,000 a day. Evangelista and her posse of โsupersโ โ Christy Turlington, Claudia Schiffer, Cindy Crawford and Naomi Campbell โ were shapely, confident power women. And here was Doukas pushing Kate Moss, under-age and 1.7 metres tall next to Schifferโs 1.8. โNobody was interested,โ said Doukas. โShe was in school โฆ We worked in the holidays and stuttered along for a year.โ Initially, Linda Moss accompanied her daughter to castings, but soon decided it was a waste of time. Kate stuck at it, taking herself on the train โ often wearing her school uniform. โFor two years, I did go-sees, I earned no money, I was always borrowing off Mum,โ she later recalled. โShe was beginning to get fed up with it, started telling me to get a proper job. Then I started to work, so โฆโ Moss became friends with stylist Melanie Ward and photographer Corinne Day, who took the famous photo of her mucking about on a beach in an Indian headdress, which made the cover of The Face.
The image would go on to be one of the most iconic shots of Mossโs career. As Ward later described it: โWe were having the best time hanging out and creating images, living in that moment. What we felt in our gut was the antithesis of what was happening in fashion at that time.โ While the supermodels were vamping it up in Versace, Ward and Day took Moss shopping in flea markets for shabby-chic vintage clothes, and styled her as a lo-fi waif, anticipating the fashion for grunge.
In 1992, Moss, 18, landed the now famous Calvin Klein underwear campaign, and moved to New York on the back of its success. Suddenly it was all limo transfers for jobs with Herb Ritts and Steven Meisel. Moss, no diva, thought the fuss was silly. As she told photographer Nick Knight during a video interview for SHOWstudio, โIโd be like, โThat is so embarrassing. Iโm not getting in a stretch limo by myself!โโ But it wasnโt too hard to adapt. โI made friends; Naomi and Christie took me under their wing, and I met Johnny.โ
For three years from 1994 Moss dated Depp, partying at film premieres and LA nightclubs, while her career soared. She was reportedly devastated when they broke up, but back in London found another gang to hang with. She bought a house in Primrose Hill, the neighbourhood that lent its name to a fast living โsetโ that included actors Sadie Frost and Jude Law, designer Pearl Lowe, heiress Davinia Taylor and the Gallagher brothers from Oasis, plus their various girlfriends. Moss became queen bee of the Primrose Hill set.

When Rimmel London, the quintessential British cool girlโs make-up brand, hired Moss in 2001 it made perfect sense. And best of all, Moss, who so rarely spoke to the media, lent her voice as well as her face to the campaign. โThe London lookโ passed into popular parlance, evoking Moss in her skinny jeans and silk shirts, her vintage dresses and flea market furs, with her tousled bed-hair and smoky eye make-up and down-to-earth vibe. In Mossโs words: โYou canโt go round with airs and graces, and I would never want to. I see people do that and I donโt get it.โ
The same year she won the Rimmel contract, Moss won Jefferson Hackโs heart. As the editor of fashion magazine Dazed & Confused (now rebranded as Daze), Hackโs life was a whirl of London parties and alcohol launches. The stars aligned when he interviewed Moss. Her friends were having kids and settling down. In September 2002, she gave birth to their daughter, Lila Grace. From the outside, Moss looked to have it all. The big contracts, the doting partner, beautiful daughter and cool friends, but behind the scenes her relationship with Hack was falling apart.
At her 31st birthday party she met an intriguing musician called Pete Doherty. With his exciting unpredictability and roguish good looks, Moss found the Babyshambles frontman irresistible. But Doherty was the modern-day equivalent of Lord Byron: mad, bad and dangerous to know, a troubled character with a poetโs soul and a considerable drug habit. Many believed their mutual infatuation would be her undoing.
โFor two years, I did go-sees, I earned no money, I was always borrowing off Mumโ
In September 2005, grainy stills from a video allegedly showing Moss snorting lines of cocaine while with Doherty in a London recording studio hit the front page of the British tabloid the Daily Mirror. Her glittering career suddenly looked precarious. Moss was in New York when the story broke, and the paparazzi went into overdrive, something her ex Mario Sorrenti (who she dated between 1992 and 1993) witnessed first hand. One night he and Moss were having dinner when they were accosted. โIt was like rats over the garbage,โ he told Vanity Fair. โShe got pushed and shoved. So did I.โ
Although the police dropped their charges for lack of evidence, and Moss was cleared, the press were full of speculation about which brands would distance themselves because of the scandal. Would Burberry? Would Chanel? Alexander McQueen took his Paris Fashion Week bow in a T-shirt bearing the slogan: โWe Love You Kate.โ Meanwhile, Moss issued a public apology through Storm. โI take full responsibility for my actions,โ she said. โI am trying to be positive, and the support and love I have received are invaluable.โ
While a number of high-profile brands ended their associations with her, Rimmel stood by Moss. While she continued sporadically to see Doherty for the following 18 months, their relationship was over by 2007.
Later that year, Moss met a different type of rock star in Jamie Hince โ cool but also sweet and in control of his life. As Moss has told it, a couple of years into their romance, Hince was asking her to marry him every day. On July 2011, Moss did just that, with 15 bridesmaids and flower girls, including daughter Lila Grace and Mossโs half sister Lottie. The Mario Testino photographs showed a fairytale bride in a John Galliano couture gown that took 700 hours to embroider. In 2015, Moss and Hince separated. Now the British tabloids are speculating she is engaged to her 28-year-old boyfriend, Count Nikolai von Bismarck.
This year Moss, now 42, fronted her 15th Rimmel collection. โKate couldnโt have been a better brand ambassador, as she perfectly embodies the โLondon Lookโ,โ says Montse Passolas, Rimmel vice-president. โAfter 10 years in our campaigns, she created her first lipstick range for Rimmel in 2011. She is meticulous about her creations, stamping her renowned fashion sense to make them unique and authentic, which is great for our consumers.โ
By not blabbing about her private life, the model has created a Greta Garbo-like mystique, which allows brands to project their vision on to the canvas of her image. When Rimmel talks of โthe timelessness of Kateโs unique lookโ, it sums it up. Thereโs just something about Kate.

US Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has sparked fresh health concerns after a video circulated which appears to show her collapsing at a September 11 memorial.
The video shows the 68-year-old being held up by her aides as they put her into a waiting vehicle.
Clinton was reportedly taken to her daughter Chelseaโs home which was nearby where she recuperated, before being seen walking out and smiling for the waiting photographers.
โIโm feeling great,โ she said. โItโs a beautiful day in New York.โ
A statement has since been released by her doctor Lisa Bardack stated that she has been diagnosed with pneumonia.
โSecretary Clinton has been experiencing a cough related to allergies. On Friday, during follow up evaluation of her prolonged cough, she was diagnosed with pneumonia,โ said Dr Bardack.
โShe was put on antibiotics, and advised to rest and modify her schedule. While at this morningโs event, she became overheated and dehydrated. I have just examined her and she is now re-hydrated and recovering nicely.โ
While questions have been raised over health and ability to serve as the President of the United States should she be elected, Dr Bardack said last month that she was โin excellent health and fit to serve as president of the United Statesโ.

Taylor Swift was front and centre to cheer on BFF Gigi Hadid at the launch of her capsule collection with Tommy Hilfiger during New York Fashion Week.
The newly single star was spotted in the FROW next to Gigiโs mum and brother, as well as other squad member Martha Hunt.
Taylor was rocking a look from the Tommy X Gigi collection which featured a sailor-inspired white blouse, navy high-waisted shorts and one epic pair of red velvet thigh-high boots.
โSo proud of you Gigi! That show was insane,โ the Grammy Award-winning star wrote on Instagram alongside a video of Gigi working the runway.
โCongrats to Gi, Tommy and all the girls who just owned that runway #tommyxgigi.โ

So the purpose of a fashion show is to present your collection for the following season to the media and buyers, right?
Wrong, said Tommy Hilfiger and Gigi Hadid in New York this weekend.
WWD summed up the new mood: โFor a big percentage of accessibly priced brands, seasonal fashion shows are no longer about introducing fashion ideas. Theyโre about luring consumers around the globe to social-media swoon, and now, to shop instantly โ browse, click, own!โ
Ergo, the iconic American designer and his model muse didnโt simply stage a catwalk show โ they unleashed a funfair extravaganza complete with ferris wheel, food trucks and (fake) tattoo parlours that lasted two days. The collection was immediately available to purchase. Oh, and Gigi co-designed it.

Hilfiger is known for his grand ideas and mega-budget sets. This time last year, he recreated his favourite beach in Mustique, where he has a holiday home, complete with a replica of his local bar and the actual barman. Shows past have been staged in Hollywood-worthy sets done up to look like rock concerts and tennis matches. But even for Hilfiger this latest venture was next level.

The starry fโrow was there (Taylor Swift, Olivia Palermo) but to watch the show live they were joined 2000 members of the public (whoโd won their tickets in a competition). On Saturday, the gates to โTommy Pierโ were open all day, so fans could watch reruns of the show, while shopping, eating candy floss and lobster rolls and riding the wheel.

All of this was backed up mightily by social media, from the Facebook announcement โ โSee it. Love it. Shop it LIVE โ straight from the runway โ on tom.my/nowโ โ to the Insta vids and cross-platform hashtags #TOMMYXGIGI #TOMMYNOW

So what exactly can we buy NOW? The clothes are a mix of Americana, Hello Sailor! and polished rock chick.

Gigi opened the show in skinny leather pants worn with a charismatic naval officerโs jacket in navy-and-white, and a bandana round her neck. There were logo tracksuits, cropped hoodies and slippery satins that looked like baseball jerseys. Leather jackets had sailorโs tattoo motifs (Gigi as a mermaid! Wrapped around an anchor!) on the back. There were nautical stripes, cable knits, pops of red.

Was it worth whatever it cost to errect a funfair downtown? The proof will be in the sales figures. If it works, and fans empty their wallets on cue (as seems likely), then other brands are going to have to start looking for more ways to reinvent the fashion system. Few have pockets as deep as Hilfigerโs, and it takes serious investment to smash the production cycle on a scale like this.

What does it take to reach global fashionโs top table? Twelve months ago Nicky Zimmermann told me the secret lay in two little words: hard work. Itโs got to help, though, to have Beyonce and Kendall Jenner in your corner.
The Australian label which began more than 20 years ago with sisters Nicky and Simone Zimmermann selling their designs from Sydneyโs Paddington market, is without doubt our greatest international fashion success story. In all the major cities and beach hangouts, the local style setters know about Zimmermann.
Beyonce shops regularly in their NY and LA stores, and wore Zimmermann playsuits all summer, while the brandโs white lace Victoriana dress starred in the singerโs Formation video.
Kendall Jenner is another fan โ she often Instagrams herself in their clothes. And what was the model-of-the-moment wearing when she filmed the video teaser for her big US Vogue September issue cover? Not Balmain or Givenchy or Gucci, but Zimmermann.
Nicky and Simoneโs decision to show each season at New York Fashion Week and open an head office in the city, as well as stores from Manhattan to Melrose, has paid off.
Fridayโs Spring โ17 show in a light-filled Midtown loft space was a return to form after a trickier Autumn/Winter โ16 offering that pushed the boundaries of wearability (those tent-like metallic maxi dresses really only work on willowy six-footers).

This time, every frilled, ruffled, lacy piece of fabulousness worked a treat.
The show opened with a floaty dress of mismatched asymmetric striped flounces in soft blue-grey and white, worn with long grey suede lace-up boots, and setting the tone of cool romance.
From cropped fitted blouses and deshabille corset detailing to languid layering, loose coating, boudoir cream lace and raw edged tulle, the look was about femininity with an edge.
The designers described it as โmodern rumpled eleganceโ, inspired by Nickyโs nightlife as a teenager in the โ80s, and specifically by a long-gone Sydney club called Stranded.
โFor me, it represented an escape from a sheltered suburban childhood, a place where young and creative people came together to express themselves,โ said Nicky. She recalled a โbowerbirdโ D.I.Y. sensibility borne out of isolation that saw her friends ripping their fatherโs shirts, and chopping into tulle petticoats to create their Friday night outfits.
Hence the nod to the eraโs New Romantics, and Vivienne Westwoodโs iconic 1981 Pirate Collection, but all up the show felt fresh and modern rather than nostalgic. No doubt Zimmermannโs It girl army will make it their own.
From the models and bloggers front row (Shanina Shaik, Nicole Trunfio, Bridget Malcolm, Sarah Ellen, Brooke Testoni and Jessie Bush) to those on the catwalk (Hanne Gabby, Nicole Pollard, Astrid Holler and the pink haired Fernanda Ly) the message was clear โ all the cool girls wear Zimmermann.

In the era of the open-plan office, everything from personal calls to loud music streaming through headphones to dubious eating habits are within earshot. Caroline Webb, author of How To Have A Good Day: Think Bigger, Feel Better And Transform Your Working Life, reveals ways to tell a colleague, politely and professionally, theyโre driving you crazy.
Ask permission โSay something like: โOur working relationship is important to me and thereโs something on my mind โ canโจI talk to you about it?โ Which is a good way to signal your collaborative intent.โ
Describe the โtrue factsโ โPick one specific incident โจand describe the โtrue factsโ: the things โจyou know for sure, stripped of emotion, interpretation or generalisation. Say things such as: โWhatโจI noticed was [fact, fact, fact].โ Be as precise and concrete โจas you can, even if you think thereโs a big issue at stake.โ
Describe how the โtrue factsโ made you feel at the time โJust like the โtrue factsโ, your feelings arenโt disputable, and describingโจthem explains why youโre raising the issue. It also helps to convey that โจthis isnโt about you whining.โ
Ask for their perspective โWhen weโve built up courage to broach a difficult topic, itโs easy to forget we may not have the whole picture. Ask: โWhatโs your perspective on this?โ Pay attention to their answer, even if you disagree. Understanding what lies behind their behaviour will give you a better idea of how to solve the problem.โ
Do some joint problem-solving โFinally, decide together how to improve the situation. Try asking them for their thoughts on this first, before building on their suggestions. This isnโt about caving in to hierarchy, itโs because research shows that people โจfeel far more attachment to any idea that theyโve had a hand in shaping.โ

Despite another big week in the press it would seem itโs business as usual for PR queen Roxy Jacenko has taken to Instagram to snap more of her daily lift selfies.
Earlier this week The Daily Telegraph reported that Roxy had gotten into an altercation with her estranged father and his fiancรฉe, fashion designer Lisa Ho.
The alleged incident occurred back in May during the trial of Roxyโs husband Oliver Curtis for insider trading.
Jacenko has since denied the allegations that she lashed out at her dad.
โThere is no basis for these allegations. I can only attribute such comments to a sad quest for public notoriety by my father Nick Jacenko and Lisa Ho.โ Roxy told the Daily Mail.
However the police have launched an investigation into the claims and are calling for witnesses to come forward.
In a statement to news.com, a spokeswoman for NSW Police said โPolice from Rose Bay local area command were called to Moncur St, near Queen St, Woollahra, about 7pm on Saturday the 14th of May in realtion to reports of an altercation. A number of statements were taken and witnesses to the incident are urged to contact police.โ

Going on a date tonight? You might want to pay attention to what drinks they order. Because if your potential love interest asks for a G&T, donโt hang around. In fact, you should probably run out the door immediately because thereโs a chance that you might have a Hannibal Lector on your hands.
According to a recent study, people with psychopathic tendencies are more likely to prefer foods and drinks that are bitter in taste.
The researchers found that people who liked drinks such as coffee and tonic water, for example in the form of a G&T, were more likely to exhibit signs of Machiavellianism, sadism and narcissism.
And just to make them even more appealing, these same individuals were also more prone to being duplicitous, cold-hearted, vain and selfish. Oh, and more likely to derive pleasure from other peopleโs pain too.
So if G&Ts are for psychopaths, what do all those other drinks say about a person?
Hereโs our not-quite-so-scientific guide to a few telltale date drinks. Donโt say we didnโt warn youโฆ
1. Bloody Mary Almost undoubtedly a complete health obsessive. Make sure you smell it because thereโs probably not even any vodka in there. And everyone knows that people who drink pure tomato juice are not to be trusted even slightly.
2. Jaegarbomb Definite Peter Pan complex. Still hasnโt quite let go of uni and resolutely refuses to grow up. Bail now before the student-style chanting and air punching commences.
3. Absinthe Pretentious arty type who likes to think they are living in 19th century Montmartre. Probably owns a fluffy cat called Gerard. If they also have an easel with them, avoid like the smallpox.
4. Champagne Seriously, who just casually orders champagne for themselves on a first date?! 100% narcissist.
5. Long Island Ice Tea The type of person who literally doesnโt give a sh*t. Expect plenty of rogue behaviour during the evening. Not that this is necessarily a bad thing โ it could go either way โ but just to give you the heads up, you know?

Definitely not a trend for the faint hearted, 42-year-old Victoria Beckham hit the Soho sidewalk in a bold ensemble reminiscent of the very-noughties colour blocking trend.
The usually minimal designer spiced up her look (excuse the pun) by opting for wide leg electric blue trousers and a vibrant coral sweater ahead of her upcoming show for New York fashion week.

The relaxed silhouette on her is a match made in heaven and both pieces are from her upcoming SS17 collection.
Of course itโs her trademark shades that really complete the look and confirms what we all knew, no matter what she wears Posh means business.
VB also took to Instagram to share a collection of snippets from model castings and itโs safe to say weโre beyond excited to see the full collection.

โHonestly, we had both our families on holiday at the same time, just randomly, and we said this is a good opportunity with everyone together so we just did it.โ

Thereโs so many reasons we love Zoe Foster Blake (her LOL-worthy Instagram account, her best-selling books, her adorable son, Sonny โ need we go onโฆ).
But she just went and gave us a whole new reason to love her in a recent interview with The File where she discusses her โdirty little beauty secretโ.
We love all things beauty as much as the next person, but weโll admit even we get a little overwhelmed with all weโre expected to do โ and slather on โ our faces every day.
Well enter Zoe who admits sometimes she sleeps in her makeup. GASP!
โI will sleep in professional eye makeup if I need it for something the next day,โ she says. โWhat a friggen pig, I know. But I will never sleep in the โfaceโ makeup: foundation, blush etc. Not even if Iโm really drunk.โ
Ok, got it, so occasionally leaving your eye makeup isnโt the end of the world but foundation et al is still a no-no.
But thatโs not the only lazy-girl beauty tip she shared.
Hate washing your hair? Then stop it, says Zoe.
โI wash my hair as infrequently as possible because I hate clean, slippery, stupid hairโ.
We know what we *wonโt* be doing this weekend thenโฆ

Controversial former deputy mayor of Auburn Salim Mehajer has had his apprehended violence order amended so that he can now contact his estranged wife, Aysha Learmonth.
The AVO prevents him from physically or verbally threatening Aysha or anyone she is now in a relationship with and well as banning him from the homes in Sydney and Wollongong where she stays, reports Seven News.
Mehajer did not appear in court, with the amendments already agreed upon by both parties.
During the court proceedings yesterday it was revealed that Mehajer reportedly โbombardedโ his wife with up to 70 calls a day as well as installing a tracking device on her car.
The Daily Telegraph reports that court documents outline โobsessive and bizarreโ behavior towards Learmonth after she moved out of the home they shared in April this year.
One incident involved Mehajer filing a missing persons report after she was five-hours late to meet him, telling police he feared she had been abducted.
He told police he had installed the tracking device on her car and provided maps as proof.
This latest news comes after a series of videos were released by A Current Affair in which Mehajar makes threats to both Learmonth and her parents.
โAysha, youโve got five minutes to call me,โ the former Auburn Council deputy mayor screams. โโAysha, I hope you die, you sl*t โฆ I swear on the Koran, I swear to Allahโ.
When news of the coupleโs split first broke, Mehajer denied the reports of a split or an AVO, telling News Corp โonly death will do us apart [sic].โ

The three-year-old daughter who was left orphaned after her parents died in a tragic murder-suicide this week is reportedly traumatised after witnessing her parentsโ deaths.
The child reportedly woke up to her mother Tasmin Bahar, 35, screaming as her father, Dave Pillay, strangled her, reports The Daily Telegraph.
โShe saw it all โ when we found her she was screaming and hysterical,โ a family friend appopinted to speak to the media told the publication.
โShe is deeply disturbed by the ordeal. Sheโs just a baby.โ
The child is now being looked after by Pillayโs nephew, but Baharโs mother and sister are flying in to Australia to fight for custody for the child.
โShe belongs with us. I will do everything in my power to fight to adopt [her],โ sister Sharagin Bahar who is expected to arrive in Sydney next week told The Daily Telegraph.
โShe is all we have left of Tasmin โ that little angel is now my sister.โ

The twin brother of Vincent Stanford who killed and raped school teacher Stephanie Scott will walk free after the DPP opted not to appeal the sentence.
Marcus Stanford pleaded guilty to being an accessory after the fact and was sentenced to 15 months in jail without parole, which means with time served he will be released today.
The 25-year-old admitted to selling the teacherโs rings to a pawn shop in Adelaide for just over $700 after his brother sent them to him.
Twin brother of man who murdered Stephanie Scott to be released from jail after pawning her engagement ring #TenNewshttps://t.co/67gds9zVso
Despite a petition gaining over 50,000 signatures and Premier Mike Baird ordering a review into the sentence the Director of Prosecutions (DPP) has said they will not appeal the sentence.
โI have decided not to appeal the sentence imposed by Justice Hulme in relation to the charge of accessory after the fact to murder against Marcus Stanford,โ the DPP said.
โI have formed the view that there are no reasonable prospects of success on an appeal against the inadequacy of the sentence.โ

Natalie Portman debuted an extra special surprise on the red carpet at the Venice Film Festival overnight.
The 35-year-old proudly displayed a growing baby bump in the most gorgeous white, one-shoulder Valentino gown at the premiere of her new film Planetarium.
Natalie is already a mum to five-year-old son Aleph with husband Benjamin Millepied, whom she married in 2012.
The working mum recently penned a piece for the New York Times describing her life as an actress and mother.
โWhen Iโm not working, Iโm pretty much exclusively with my family, so my rituals have to do with school, meal preparation, playdates, bedtime,โ she wrote.
โ[Parenthood] made me much calmer under stress, because thereโs that weirdparent thing you develop, that when things get really bad, your voice gets calm and your blood pressure slows, and you can make everything okay again.โ
Natalie was also joined at the premiere by her co-star, Lily-Rose Depp.

A Canadian judge is standing trial for his jawdropping misogynistic comments to a teenage rape victim over a 2014 sexual assault case.
In news straight out of โwe cant make this shit upโ Canadian judge Robin Camp was promoted to the countryโs Federal Court after presiding over a trial where he asked a rape victim โwhy cant you just keep your knees together?โ
The judge made the gobsmacking comments to the 19-year-old victim, who claimed Alexander Wagar raped her over a bathroom sink at a party.
At one stage during the trial Camp suggested โwhy didnโt you just sink your bottom down into the basin so he couldnโt penetrate you?โ
And then he berated her for not really trying hard enough to bring attention to her plight saying if she was โfrightened you could have screamed.โ
And when the victim claimed she experienced physical pain during the attack, Judge Camp came over all wise man: โSex is very often a challenge. Sex and pain sometimes go togetherโฆthatโs not necessarily a bad thing.โ
The victim admitted that she hated herself for letting Camp speak to her in that way adding โhe made me hate myself and he made me feel like I should have done somethingโฆ that I was some kind of slut.โ
Mr Camp is set to appear in front of a panel of three judges and two senior lawyers. The allegations against him include using โstereotypical or biased thinkingโ, that his comments โreflected an antipathyโ toward laws aimed at protecting vulnerable witnesses and that he asked the alleged victim questions based on โdiscredited, stereotypical assumptionsโ of how one should behave after a sexual assaultโ reports the BBC.
His lawyer Frank Addario said in a hearing โhe is not perfect, but he is a good judgeโ and that โhe has reformed in his thinking and is sorry for his failing.โ
โThe evidence will show Justice Camp, immediately after the complaint was lodged, apologized and took steps to interrogate his beliefs and to challenge his assumptions.โ
Campโs daughter Lauren-Lee Camp, who is also a victim of rape, wrote a letter to the panel in support of her father noting that while his comments were โdisgracefulโ he โtackled his disgrace directlyโ and โnow speaks with a new kind of sensitivity and understandingโ, reports The Globe And Mail
Camp is currently not allowed to hear cases until the panel reviews the case and make recommendations to the full judicial council.

At a New York Fashion Week party earlier this week, Lancรดme ambassador Taylor Hill modelled a pretty spectacular use of purple eyeliner โ along her lower inner rim. Preheat oven to 160หC. 2. To make the orange syrup, place sugar, water and juice in a small saucepan over a medium heat and bring slowly to the boil to dissolve sugar. Add honey and simmer for 2โ3 minutes. Remove from heat and allow to cool. 3. Combine ricotta, eggs, milk, sugar and grated zest. Gently stir in flour and baking powder. 4. Heat approximately 4cm of vegetable oil in saucepan over a medium heat. Drop half a teaspoon of batter into oil; if it bubbles and rises to the surface the oil is hot enough. Carefully drop dessertspoonfuls of mixture into hot oil in batches (this is easiest done by using a second spoon to gently scrape mixture off the first). Fry for 2 minutes, or until golden. Turn once during cooking and keep an eye on oil temperature while cooking each batch. Remove with a slotted spoon, drain on paper towel and keep warm in oven. 5. To serve, sprinkle fritters with caster sugar and a drizzle of orange-honey syrup.

The statement also confirmed that Anderson was autistic and blind and he โrequired certain medications for his medical conditions/disabilities.โ
The boyโs father, added that if he โdid not take the hydrocortisone medication, he would go into a coma and die.โ
An autopsy showed that Andersonโs brain was swollen from dehydration and shock from the lack of medication.
Lightwine has been charged with second-degree murder and second-degree elder abuse because of her sonโs disability.

As if Australia couldnโt love radio host Andy Lee anymore, heโs gone and done it, he has written and published a childrenโs book.
The Hamish & Andy show radio host, and now published author, originally wanted to write a book for his nephew George as a gift for his first birthday, but a book publisher friend decided it needed to be printed for kidโs around Australia to enjoy.
On The Project on Wednesday night, the 35-year-old explained how the whole process went down.
โIt came about in strange circumstances because I wanted to surprise my sister,โ he explained. โIโve got a nephew, George, whoโs about to turn one. I thought writing a book for him as his birthday present would be a nice thing to do.
โI wrote it up, I gave it to my best mate whoโs a kidโs books publisher and I said โCan you just make one copy for me?โ. He rang me back a few weeks later and said โI asked the other publishers and theyโd like to print thisโ. I said โNah mate, give us the one copyโ.โ
Andy finally agreed, but only if he could surprise his sister, Alex, first. The video, where Andy teamed up with his radio partner-in-crime Hamish Blake with the heartwarming surprise, has been viewed over 600 000 times on Facebook.
Guaranteed, itโs the sweetest video youโll watch all week.

Grease is the word, again. A resurfaced theory from 2013 is gaining new popularity with fans, and it will change the way you look at the classic hit.
Reddit user atomicbolt claims that throughout the 1978 musical there are hidden clues that point to Sandy actually drowning on the beach with Danny.
First clue, the lyrics to โSummer Nightsโ, when Danny says, โsaved her life, she nearly drowned.โ Here, the reddit user explains:
โSandy actually did drown on the beach that day. As she drowned, her brain deprived of oxygen, she had a vivid coma fantasy involving her summer fling with Danny, where they shared a magical year of high school together.โ
The theory continues, pointing out the car flying at the end of the film, which โpromptly defies the laws of gravity and flies at into the sky.The whole film is a dream sequence leading to Sandy ascending to โheavenโ.

November 25. For all the Gilmore Girls fans out there, itโs a date etched in the diary: the date that the reboot drops on Netflix. Conveniently, that date happens to be a Friday. So cancel your plans, clear your diary and get ready for a night of furious Stars Hollow binge-watching.
Not much is known about the series, other than that it follows a year in the life of everyoneโs favourite women named Lorelei, across four seasons. Fans have been furiously theorising about potential plot lines. Will Kirk become Town Mayor? Will Rory end up with Logan? (NEVER).
Today, showrunner Amy Sherman-Palladino revealed the first page of the script from the first episode with Entertainment Weekly.
Yes, itโs a tantalising tease and Sherman-Palladino is a cruel, cruel mistress. The first page of the first scene of the first episode doesnโt reveal much.
But itโs better than nothing. We know that Rory has arrived in Stars Hollow (after an absence) looking fantastic, that nothing has shifted in the mother-daughter relationship, and that Lorelei has definitely been reading Goop. (Of course she has).
Thank you for this gift, Entertainment Weekly. Weโre just going to be over here, memorising those first few lines.

Since his breakup with Rebecca Harding, itโs been rumoured that Andy Lee will be the next Bachelor.
โHamish has been sending this alight for as long as possible. Absolutely no! That would be my answer,โ he said after he was questioned by Carrie Bickmore on the possibility.

Elizabeth Gilbert, author of the best-selling book Eat Pray Love, announced her split from husband Jose Nunes, whom she famously met at the end of the beloved memoir back in July.
The best-selling author took to Facebook to share with her fans, that she is in a relationship with her best friend, fellow writer, Rayya Elias, who has recently been diagnosed with incurable pancreatic and liver cancer.
โSomething happened to my heart and mind in the days and weeks following Rayyaโs diagnosis,โ wrote the 47-year-old. โDeath โ or the prospect of death โ has a way of clearing away everything that is not real, and in that space of stark and utter realness, I was faced with this truth: I do not merely love Rayya; I am in love with Rayya.โ
โFor those of you who are doing the math here, and who are wondering if this situation is why my marriage came to an end this spring, the simple answer is yes. (Please understand that I cannot say anything more about it than that. I trust you are all sensitive enough to understand how difficult this has been. As David Foster Wallace once wrote: โThe truth will set you free โ but not until itโs had its way with you.โ Yes, it has been hard. Yes, the truth has had its way with us. And yes, the truth still stands.)
โSo. Here is where we stand now: Rayya and I are together. I love her, and she loves me. Iโm walking through this cancer journey with her, not only as her friend, but as her partner. I am exactly where I need to be โ the only place I can be.
The author also used Facebook to announce her split from Nunes in July, citing the โvery personalโ reasons.
โI am separating from the man whom many of you know as โFelipeโ โ the man whom I fell in love with at the end of the EAT PRAY LOVE journey. He has been my dear companion for over 12 years, and they have been wonderful years. Our split is very amicable. Our reasons are very personal.โ
Gilbert and Nunes were together for 12 years, meeting during her travels which she wrote about in the 2006 memoir, which went on to sell more than 10 million copies worldwide and was turned into a blockbuster movie starring Julia Roberts in 2010.

Although Miranda Kerr and Evan Spiegel have been in a relationship for over a year, the successful couple still have that one feature usually prominent in the honeymoon phase of a relationship.
The Projectโs Tommy Little sat down with the Australian supermodel at her Malibu mansion and discussed everything from her engagement ring and Snapchat CEO fiancรฉ,33, to her relationship with ex-husband Orlando Bloom.
Gushing about her partner, the Kora Organics founder admitted that her and Evan use Snapchat to contact each other multiple times a day. โI still get butterflies,โ Miranda told The Projectโs comedian.
The ex-Victoriaโs Secret also admitted that she misses Australia, but canโt move back home.

Never-before-seen footage of JonBenet Ramsayโs brother Burke being interviewed after her death in 1996 reveals the last time he saw his sister alive.
The footage, which aired on the new documentary, The Killing of JonBenet: The Truth Uncovered, shows the then nine-year-old dressed in a tracksuit and squirming in his seat.
โWhen is the last time you saw JonBenet alive?โ Detective Dan Schuler asks.
โUmโฆ probablyโฆin the carโฆtired and laying down,โ he responds.
The Detective then asks the child what he remembers about the day she went missing, December 26, 1996.
โI just remember her falling on the bike and sitting on it,โ Burke responds.
The detective also asks Burke about the moment his mother realised JonBenet was missing, when his mother burst into his room frantically looking around.
โHave you ever seen mum like that?โ Schuler asks.
โNo,โ Burke replies.
โI just lay in bed with my eyes closed and like sort of thinking of what might have happened to themโฆ I just heard my mum going psycho.โ
When police and neighbours arrived Burke says he lay there โscaredโ and โworriedโ but at first he didnโt realise she was dead.
โI thought JonBenet was gonna be there, I thought they found her,โ he continued. โI came in excited โฆ almost relieved โฆ then my dad told me that JonBenet was in heaven.โ
Burke is the only family member that has never spoken publicly about the case, that has never been solved and has captivated the world for almost 20 years.
Ahead of the 20th anniversary he sat down with Dr. Phil to speak about the case for the first time.

Brock Turner has been released from jail after serving just three months for the horrific sexual assault of an unconscious woman.
A condition of his release was that the former Stanford University student register as a sex offender his home state of Ohio.
Each state in the US has a sex offenders registry but they all have different laws covering what information must be provided and made available to the public.
Turnerโs listing provides a photo, name, address and details of his conviction.
It doesnโt currently provide information on a job or a school, but will have to be updated with this information if and when he does.
Turnerโs neighbours will also now receive letters notifying them of his name and address.
The 21-year-old, who is classified as a โtier III sex offenderโ must continue to register every 90 days for the rest of his life.

If you had asked us, which lipstick do you think is the most popular on Pinterest, we would have guessed the cult-y Nars Dragon Girl, MAC Ruby Woo or Clinique Black Honey.
With approximately 96,000 pins, the most-pinned lipstick is from MAC, but itโs called Watch Me Simmer, a pink-coral that was launched in 2012, made a brief reappearance in 2015, and hasnโt been heard from since.
You can try your luck tracking down a tube, or you could try MAC Cremesheen Lipstick in Little Buddha, which is a pretty close match and will look fab come summer.

The birthday party of the year took place over night, and no, thatโs not an exaggeration.
Beyoncรฉ hosted her Soul Train themed party to ring in her 35th birthday, and the outfits and guest list were en pointe.
Check out Jay Zโs outfit. He obviously took the dress code very seriously, donning a military-style jacket, wig and bandana for a very Jimi Hendrix-esque look.
And of course the lady of the hour did not disappoint with her style choice. Beyoncรฉ dazzled in a multi-coloured sequin jumpsuit, featuring just one pant leg.
And even though itโs common knowledge that Beyoncรฉ has some serious dance moving, her and Jay Z on the dance floor is still the highlight of the night.
Here are some of the other BeyDay highlights from her star-studded guests, which included Destinyโs Child bandmates Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, sister Solange and her husband Alan Ferguson, Chance the Rapper, Usher, Serena Williams, Diddy, and Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz, and of course, Blue Ivy.
Blue Ivy taking a lick of her mumโs birthday cake during her speech. (Note: Beyoncรฉโs outfit change):

Are you sitting down? Good, because weโve got bad news and bad news, and youโre not going to like it.
Climate change is already screwing over the world, threatening to turn our favourite city (New York) into an underwater paradise, and completely changing the landscape of our beautiful natural habitat.
But today the bad news got even worse, with a new study revealing that climate change could wipe coffee beans from the face of the Earth by 2080, and no thatโs not some kind of a sick joke.
It all comes down to the rising mercury, providing a breeding ground for fungi that attacks the delicious, delicious coffee bean crop. And it gets worse: The boffins at The Climate Institute who have completed the research even said that in the next 35 years the coffee crop could halve with the loss of suitable land for farming the java.
By 2080 it will all be well and truly over, and an industry that employs 125 million people around the world will be gone.
In situations like these โ disaster movies, the worldwide Prosecco shortage โ weโre always cautioned to stay calm and hope for the best. And thatโs exactly what weโre going to do. Just as soon as weโve stocked up on our favourite brand of joe.
