Appearing on Farmer Wants A Wife comes with one very obvious requirement: you have to be a farmer. But questions have emerged over whether Farmer Zac actually fits the bill, with several former contestants claiming he may not be a farmer at all.
“Zac isn’t a real farmer. He’s just an electrician,” Lily Tomkinson, who appeared on Farmer Dylan’s farm, told Woman’s Day.
The speculation intensified when Zac’s third runner-up, Grace, shared a photo captioned: “Had so much fun on sparky wants a girlfriend.”
Mieke, Farmer Zac’s second runner-up, appeared to join the pile-on, leaving a pointed comment: “the caption ⚡”.
So, what exactly is going on? Have viewers been unknowingly watching Sparky Wants A Girlfriend all along?
According to the Instagram account for O’Brien Electrical & Air Conditioning in Mount Barker, Zac is indeed an electrician, and by all accounts, a pretty accomplished one.
He was named the company’s Employee of the Year in December 2025, with the business even acknowledging the speculation surrounding his career. After Farmer Alex’s contestant Gabbie commented, “Wait isn’t he an apple farmer?”, the account responded, “and a superstar electrician 🍎⚡”.

Further sleuthing revealed Zac celebrated his one-year work anniversary with the company on June 12, 2025.
Of course, he could very well be both a farmer and an electrician. We’d hate to put him in a box! However, given the other farmers’ repeated comments about how demanding and all-consuming farm life can be, balancing two careers would certainly be no small feat.
The season’s resident pot-stirrer, Miranda Chopping, also joined the conversation, posting a video with the caption: “when someone asks me how was ‘farmer wants a wife’ but I only know it as ‘sparky wants a girlfriend.’”
Ironically, despite the debate over his farming credentials, Zac appears to have achieved what many of his fellow farmers couldn’t: a successful relationship.
Eddy and Alex confirmed their split at the reunion, while Dylan and Ally, Jarrad and Brodie, and Jason and Poppy have all since revealed they have gone their separate ways.
Jarrad and Brodie’s breakup, seemingly the most recent of the season’s relationship casualties, came after fans noticed a suspicious detail on Jarrad’s social media. Since January 2026, the farmer has included the hashtags #single and #singlelife in most of his captions.
While the exact timing of their split remains unclear, the reunion was filmed in January and Jarrad began using the hashtags on January 16 hinting the couple may have separated not long after the reunion was filmed.
So whether Farmer Zac is a farmer, an electrician, or a little bit of both, one thing is clear: he’s the only one who seems to have cracked the code this season. And honestly, does the job title really matter if he’s the only one with a lasting love story?
