Best-selling author Colleen Hoover is getting another book-to-film adaptation with her thriller Verity coming to the silver screen this year, and none other than icons, Anne Hathaway and Daokta Johnson are set to star in the lead roles.
Following on from the success of Hoover’s latest adaptations, It Ends With Us and Reminders Of Him, the former of which gained further virality due to a controversial press tour, its unsurprising yet another adaptation of her work is happening.
Somewhat of a departure from other novels in her repertoire, Verity finds itself straddling both the romance and psychological thriller genres — and the first trailer just released finds the line between the two, perfectly.

In the first full length trailer for Verity, we see Dakota Johnson’s character, Lowen, pad down a hallway before entering a room where Verity (Hathaway) lies in a comatose state.
She then makes her way over to Verity’s husband, Jeremy (Josh Hartnett), straddles him and kisses him passionately. But, when she pulls away she discovers to her horror, she’s kissing Verity.
What Is Verity About?
The book is based on Verity Crawford, a famous author who, after being severely injured in a horrific car accident, is left unable to complete her successful series of thriller novels.
In lieu of Verity completing her works, the writer’s husband, Jeremy, hires a struggling author on the brink of financial ruin, Lowen Ashleigh, to help finish the series.
The novel’s synopsis reads: “Lowen arrives at the Crawford home, ready to sort through years of Verity’s notes and outlines, hoping to find enough material to get her started.
“What Lowen doesn’t expect to uncover in the chaotic office is an unfinished autobiography Verity never intended for anyone to read. Page after page of bone-chilling admissions, including Verity’s recollection of what really happened the day her daughter died.”
Initially, Lowen chooses to keep the works hidden from Jeremy, for fear of devastating the already grieving father. But, as the young writer slowly develops feelings for him, the story takes a complicated twist—one of many, we suspect.
When & Where To Watch Verity In Australia
The film is being produced by Amazon MGM, with Michael Showalter who also worked on The Idea Of You with Anne, directing.
According to Variety, the film will be released in theatres in May of 2026. Given it’s an Amazon production we could expect it to land on Prime Video later this year.
