Word on the street is, after season 7 of Game of Thrones starts filming, the cast will be getting a big olโ raise!
While the main cast (that is Peter Dinklage, Kit Harington, Lena Headey, Emilia Clarke, and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) is already earning quite a bit, with news that the show will have two more seasons, there have been negotiations for a pay raise.
In 2014, the cast were reportedly earning $300,000 an episode from that point onwards, however they have renegotiated to earn upwards of $500,000 per episode from Season 7 onwards according to Deadline. As they should!
So basically, they have just another reason to keep making this one of the best shows on TV!

Blake Lively has had a busy couple of days promoting her new horror film, The Shallows. She attended the premiere yesterday, and afterwards she headed out in this simple but chic after-party look.
This is one of her many looks in the past couple of days as she does interviews and promotions.
She wore a dress by David Koma that showed off a little bit of shoulder, featuring a black top and navy skirt. And we LOVE the gridded detailing on that skirtโฆ
She accessorised the look with black diamond disc hoops from Ofira Jewels and same Lorraine Schwartz black jade and diamond bangles.

Women in Northern Ireland are now being supplied with abortion pills through the use of drones.
It is illegal to administer a drug to induce an abortion in Northern Ireland (unless the motherโs life is in danger), so feminist charity Women On Waves arranged to send a drone from The Republic of Ireland to Northern Ireland carrying mifepristone and misoprostol, which can be taken up to nine weeks into pregnancy to induce a termination.
โResearch by the world health organisation has proven that an abortion with pills can be done safely at home by women themselves till 10 weeks of pregnancy. The health impact is similar to a miscarriage. Restrictive abortion laws will not keep women from accessing abortion pills, by ship, by mail, through the internet, drone or RC speedboat!โ says Dr. Rebecca Gomperts of Women on Waves.
Women On Waves runs a ship that provides abortions for women who are unable to access them on land due to local laws.
They said the โAbortion droneโ was sent partly out of solidarity with women who are currently being prosecuted for procuring abortions in Northern Ireland.
In April, a 21-year-old Northern Ireland woman was given a suspended prison sentence after ordering abortion pills online.
In Ireland, women who wish to undergo an abortion must travel overseas, even in cases of rape, incest and when the foetus wouldnโt survive.

When Gigi Hadid stepped out on the red carpet at the IHeartRadio MuchMusic Video awards this week โ it wasnโt just her bold red Mugler suit that stopped us in our tracks.
We couldnโt get past her perfect red lip.
The red lip is the LBD of make-up, and weโre always looking for new ways to wear it.
Gigiโs look is the perfect example, of how a red lip can make you look like a million bucks โ when in reality it only has to cost a couple.
Makeup artist Patrick Ta created Gigiโs look by mixing together two shades from the Maybelline New York The Loaded Bolds collection, Smoking Red (a flesh-toned lipstick to match her non-toured cheeks) and Orange Danger, to create her own personalised hue.
โItโs all about trial and error,โ Ta tells marie claire US. โI love mixing colours because it makes the look original. If you want the lip brighter, you can make it lighter, if you want it darker, you can have it darker. Just find lipsticks in the same colour family.โ
Of course however, being Gigi โ and the face of Maybelline โ sheโs the only one lucky enough to have her hands on this new range. So until it lands here in Australia, you can shop similar styles here.

Kit Harington has a fan in Game of Thrones director Miguel Sapochnik. The British actor, 29 was recently made to confront his worst fears when filming a scene for the climactic โBattle of the Bastardsโ and according to Sapochnik, took it like a trouper.
Harington, 29, made the mistake of confessing his phobia to the director, who took it upon himself to make the showโs star as uncomfortable as possible.
โKit had mentioned to me that his worst fear is being buried alive,โ says Sapochnik, โso I exploited that to its fullestโand being the amazing game player that he is, he let me.โ
Apart from being brave, Harington has โhumility, a sense of humour and a work ethic that is like a breath of fresh air for a director,โ Sapochnik, who has also worked on True Detective, told The Hollywood Reporter. โI wish I could work with him on everything.โ
Before the โBattle of the Bastardsโ, which saw Haringtonโs character Jon Snow pitted against arch enemy Ramsay Bolton, Snow was famously left for dead in last seasonโs cliffhanger finale only to be brought back to life in season 6.
The plot twist was one of showbizโs most closely guarded secrets which few except Haringtonโs family (and a lone police officer who pulled him over) knew.

For Madonna Badger, Christmas Eve in 2011 felt like any other. Sheโd recently moved into a new house and was looking forward to spending Christmas with her then-boyfriend Michael Borcina, her parents, Lomer and Pauline, and her three beautiful daughters Grace, Sarah and Lily.
But tragedy struck in the early hours of Christmas morning, when a fire erupted inside the home, claiming the lives of Badgerโs three young daughters and her parents.
This week, Badger gave an emotional talk at Cannes Lions advertising festival about how she found the will to live and new hope in the aftermath of such a tragedy.
Recalling the incident, Badger said, โIt was Christmas Eve and I stayed up very late wrapping presents, my children were asleep on the third floor, my parents were asleep on the second floor โฆ it was our first Christmas in my new house with my children and my mum and dad. Finally I got to sleep, but there was smoke in my room, and I woke up gasping for air, I went to the window and I opened it and I crawled out of the window onto the roof of a porch โฆ and I ran to the far end of the house and I could see sparks flying out of where the electric metre was.โ
โSo I then made the impossible decision to run past my parentsโ window, so that I could go up the scaffolding to get to the third floor, where Grace was asleep. I opened the window, but I could not get in, the smoke was as thick as gravy and the flames were as hot as the flames from hell, and I could not get in, my body would not allow me to get in.
โI was screaming, โWhere are they?โ โฆ All of this went by like it was in slow motion, it felt like an eternity, but in reality it was only minutes before the fireman came and dragged me off the scaffolding.
Madonnaโs three daughters: Grace, Sarah and Lily (Credit: Facebook)
โMy three children died that night, my parents also died, and I lived. I am still their mother, and I am still their daughter โฆ I lost everything but I didnโt lose my mind, no matter how many times I wished I had.โ
In the weeks and months following the house fire, Badger โ understandably โ was in a bad way. Her hair was falling out and her skin turned grey. She begged God to take her too.
โI felt like killing myself many times, everybody assumed I was going to kill myself, including me. But I was too afraid, that when I got to the other side, that somehow people that kill themselves go to a different place and I wouldnโt be able to find my three little girls. I was afraid that Iโd have to do this life over again and I was not prepared to do that.โ
A year later, things took a turn for the better when Badger returned to work at Badger & Winters, the advertising agency she co-founded. She came back with a new perspective and began studying the enormous harm done to women by the objectification of the advertising industry.
โThis is where I found my purpose, after studying the enormous harm done to women, we decided never to objectify a women or a man in any advertising we do, we wanted to encourage the advertising industry not to objectify women.โ
Badger and her colleagues started the campaign #womennotobjects, which included a video that went viral.
โThere are millions of girls taking to heart what we put in our campaigns. We Googled objectification of women, and what came up, was advertising. This is how I found my purpose, because Jim [Winters] and I decided, after studying the enormous harm done to women by objectification โฆ we decided that we wanted to encourage our industry to also stop objectifying women.
โNow I have found my reason to be here, and it gives me a great sense of hope โฆ the legacy I want to give Lily, Sarah and Grace is to stop the objectification of women in advertising โฆ This is the future I am fighting for.โ

Comedian Sammy J has provided critical satire of Australian politics over the past few weeks of the federal election campaign, in the form of a Play School spoof called Playground Politics. However his most recent episode on Australiaโs refugee situation is perhaps the most clever, hilarious and brutal of the lot.
Whilst Australiaโs offshore detention centres have been something that politicians have desperately tried to keep off peopleโs minds in the upcoming election, Sammy J has ensured itโs something weโre all thinking about in this terrifically written piece. In only 24 hours, the video has already been watched over 300,000 times.
We start off in a boat with Sammy, and he invites us to come โbe a refugeeโ with him. Whilst listing all the ingredients it takes, including โa well-founded fear of persecutionโ, he spots a โBorder Force Boatโ. In a kids voice, he playfully remarks โBut Iโm allowed to seek asylum!โ, quickly followed by the punchline: โUh oh. Looks like weโve sailed into a moral vacuum!โ.
Soon we are invited to come โmake an Immigration Detention Centreโ with him, in classic Play School style โ on the floor, with all the materials set up. Dripping with irony, he uses a shoebox for the creation.
He continues to jibe at the government ignoring ethics, by using the first page of the United Nations Refugee Convention of 1951 as a โroofโ for the creation. As Sammy brutally mocks โ โItโs not really standing up is it? Doesnโt look like itโs going to provide any protection whatsoever! Thatโs ok. We donโt really need it.โ
Channel 9 even pays a visit and he suggests that: โIf anyone can save kids from the Middle East, itโs Channel 9!โ, referring to the baby snatching scandal from earlier this year.
He leaves us with a final observation of our own forgetfulness, a stark reminder that this issue will not go away until it is properly addressed.
โAre you feeling sad? Thatโs ok. Maybe we can just put a lid on this for now. Maybe we can put it under the rug. If you havenโt got a rug you can just put it in another room, or anywhere out of sight! Then just sit down and try not to think about it. Might feel a bit uncomfortable, but youโll get used to it!โ
If thereโs one thing you watch today, make it this:

Spanish wine-making start-up Gik have created a brand new (allegedly delicious) blue wine.
Fans of alcohol and Parks and Recreation will know that ~Blueberry~ Wine has existed for a long time, but this unique new creation is made with grapes like tradish wines, so the flava flav is still totally on point.
Gik created their wine with the help of the University of the Basque Country and Azti Tecnecalia. They make it by using both red and white grapes from vineyards all over Spain.
According to Eater, โThe 11.5 percent ABV juice is hued neon blue with anthocyanin (a pigment found in grape skin) and indigo (a dye extracted from the Isatis tinctoria plant), and a non-caloric sweetener is added as well.โ
The 750ml bottle retails for โฌ10, or $15 AUD, and itโs categorized as a โchilled, sweet white wine.โ
ATM the drop is only available in Spain, however the company have plans to launch sales in France, the UK, the Netherlands and Germany this year. After that, theyโre even thinking of expanding to the U.S.
The product was supposedly made with social-media lovinโ millennials in mind. Because if itโs not on Inatagram, it didnโt happen.
It might be some time until us Aussieโs can glam up our feed the blue vino, so for now we will just admire from afar.
Despite their viral goals, the company keeps things real when talking about their โprocess.โ
โWe were raised in a country with a strong wine culture,โ co-founder Aritz Lรณpez explained to Eater, โbut wine has always been a beverage put on a pedestal. So we thought about how it would be to have real people making wine for real people, not a wine made by experts to pseudo-connoisseurs.โ
โWe do not believe in wine tasting rules and we donโt think that anybody should need to study the bible of enology to enjoy a glass of wine. That is why we made an anti-technical sheet.โ
The site also recommends pairing the drink with sushi, smoked salmon or (our favourite option) โnachos and guacamole.โ

Calling a castle โhomeโ has got to be the dream, right? And designer Heidi Middleton, one half of the duo that founded sass & bide in 1999 has just made it a reality, pocketing the keys to a sprawling, towering chateau in Medoc in the Bordeaux region in the south west of France.
โYou called our nameโฆ and we came,โ Middleton wrote in her Instagram post celebrating her new home. The designer currently lives in Paris with her family, having relocated to France in 2015.
The familyโs new home is situated in Medoc, the wine-making town in the south west of France slowly making a name for itself as one of the trendiest villages in the country. Thatโs mostly thanks to Medocโs most famous resident: the food blogger and life goals incarnate: Mimi Thorisson. It should come as no surprise that Thorisson and Middleton are friends, with both sharing Instagram snaps from a lunch the two families shared four months ago. Middleton captioned one โdreaming with a fellow dreamerโ. And now, neighbour!

Amongst Blakeโs many press interviews about The Shallows, she appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon last night to promote the movie.
When talking about her family, she mentioned that they were recently separated for Fatherโs Day, and instead she was on a flight with her daughter, James.
She hilariously described the experience of watching other people on the plane watching Deadpool and having to endure the particularly graphic sex scenes in it.
โEverywhere I look, every screen, is my husband in a sex montage throughout the holidays, with another woman โ because everyone wants to watch Deadpool on a plane!โ
โBut for 14 hours having your husband have mashed potatoes out of his butt-hole, because thatโs in the films, itโs lovely!โ she joked. โItโs like a cruel and unusual form of torture.โ
But her description of her daughterโs reaction was even funnier!
โAnd then my daughter goes โDada!โ โ hugging and kissing the screen, and waving at him! And heโs not waving back and she doesnโt know whyโฆโ

A high-profile custody case in the UK has ended in tragedy after a father, previously sent to jail in 2009 for shaking his then baby daughter Ellie, was found guilty of her murder.
Ben Butler, 36, has been found guilty of killing his six-year-old daughter, and her mother charged with helping him cover up the crime.
In 2009 Butler was jailed for shaking his then six-week-old daughter, a conviction he later appealed and had overturned. The father then went on a public campaign to win back custody of his daughter, who had been placed in the care of her grandparents.
Appearing on television and speaking with newspapers, Butler claimed his daughter had been wrongly taken from him and her mother, Jennie Gray, and declared his case a waste of tax payers money.
โIf it can happen to me, it can happen to anyoneโ he claimed at the time.
In 2012 Ellie was returned to her parents home. 11-months later little Ellie was found dead.
The prosecution described her injuries as similar to those one would suffer in a high speed car crash.
The court heard that the Gray helped Butler cover up the fact that he had lost his temper and beaten the little girl to death.
The pair reportedly re-arranged the six-year-oldโs room to make it appear as though she had fallen off her bed, and sent her younger sibling into the room to โdiscoverโ the body, reports The Telegraph, before finally calling emergency services two hours later.
โThus it is that when, on October 28, you feeling under the weather and trying to catch up with your chores, lost your temper with Ellie and attacked her with lethal violence, it was not a tragic aberration but was all too consistent with your treatment of, and your attitude towards, her,โ said the judge.
The court heard that Butler was โangry, overbearing and manipulativeโ with a โvolatile temperโ which could โexplode at any timeโ, reports mamamia.
Butler reportedly sent hundreds of texts threatening Gray along with their two children in the months leading up to the incident.
The court also heard how he physically abused both Gray and Ellie on several occasions, with the child reportedly suffering a broken shoulder.
A witness statement provided by Butlerโs ex-girlfriend, Hannah Hillman, also added to the prosecutions case, describing him โpure evilโ. This statement was not given to the jury reports The Telegraph.
The Judge described Gray as โexceptionally naive and stupidโ for helping Butler cover up the crime, reports the BBC.
He added: โYou played your full part in the grotesque charade that was the 999 call whilst subjecting your dead daughter to the indignity of pointless CPR when you knew full well she had been dead for two hours.โ
Grayโs mother, Linda, who had cared for Ellie with her husband Neal when their parents lost custody, died on the first day of the murder trial.
In a joint statement written ahead of the trial, the grandparents said: โOur lives have changed so dramatically due to the impact and shock and horror of this event that we struggle every day to deal with the reality of the death of our dear granddaughter Ellie. She was our shining light.โ
โWe did not realise that some people could be so wicked in life,โ they added.
Father jailed for life with minimum term of 23 years for murdering his six-year-old daughter Ellie Butler https://t.co/r52sTjzbTA
During sentencing, Judge Justice Wilkie told Butler he was a โself-absorbed, ill-tempered, violent and domineering manโ.
โ[You] regarded your children and your partner as trophies, having no role other than to fit in with your infantile and sentimentalised fantasy of family life with you as the patriarch whose every whim was to be responded to.โ
Butler has been sentenced to 23 years in jail for the murder of Ellie, which he has said he will appeal.
โIโll fight for the rest of my life โ unbelievable,โ before adding: โI want to be sentenced now so I can fight in the Appeal Court.โ
โI will fight forever to prove this wrong. My daughter was jumping in the house. Iโm 100% not guilty.โ

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull spoke at a press conference on Tuesday in Darwin and added his voice to the outrage against Eddie McGuireโs violent โjokeyโ comments for the first time.
Malcolm said โthere is no place for disrespecting womenโ, particularly when it comes to people in positions of privilege.
He went on to say:
โYouโve heard me say this before, but itโs worth repeating. Not all disrespecting women ends up in violence against women. But that is where all violence against women begins.
โThere is no place for disrespectful language towards women, and that particularly applies to people who are in the public eye, whether theyโre leaders like myself or media personalities who have a big megaphone.โ
Eddie McGuire came under fire for making a โjokeโ about drowning sports journalist Caroline Wilson on Triple M radio. He had jibed at her with other men on the show about having a one-person ice water slide just for Caroline Wilson to raise money for the Cure for MND Foundation, and Danny Frawly even joked that he would โhold her underโ. You can read the full transcript here.
Malcolm has been sick with a heavy cold, so commented a little later than other public figures when the recording of the comments broke on Sunday.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Julie Bishop has dismissed the comments, saying that we should not take offence too easily, but adding that โthe issue of domestic violence is significantโ.
Domestic violence against women is a big topic on the agenda for the election in the second last week of the election campaign, and these comments make the issue all the more topical.

Taylor Swiftโs latest flame, actor Tom Hiddleston, has appeared in a photo spread for W Magazine wearing nothing but white boxers.
Leaving little to the imagination, Tom is โjust as comfortable wearing the dapper suits that have made him a leading contender to become the new #JamesBond, as he is out of them,โ according to the publication.
The Cambridge University scholar, who has a degree in Classics, traded academia for drama school, which saw him land his award-winning role as Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe moviesโand now a romance with Taylor Swift.
Taylorโs latest leading men have more than their UK heritage and professional success in common.
Before their June 2 public split, Calvin Harris and Taylor were showbizโs young power couple. The Scottish DJ might not have the upper-crust breeding of Etonian-educated Hiddleston, who counts Prince William and Eddie Redmayne as classmates, but he does look equally as dapper in his underwear.

Do you sometimes feel like you have a coffee and it does absolutely zero to pep you up?
Turns out it might not just be in your head.
According to a new study from the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research, drinking coffee for two days can help give you that much needed boost, but by the third day, itโs totally ineffective.
Thatโs right, they found that after three nights of restricted sleep, not even a double latte can help boost alertness and productivity.
In the study, 48 study participants were allowed just five hours of sleep for five nights in a row (according to the Sleep Health Foundation adults should be aiming for 7 to 9 hours a night).
Some participants were given 200 mg of caffeine (a typical flat white usually contains 150-200mg) twice during the day, while the rest received a placebo.
They then performed a series of cognitive tests that found the caffeinated folk performed better on the first and second days, but after the third night, the benefits had all but disappeared.
The only way to recover from sleep deprivation is โ surprise surprise โ more sleep.

After Day 1 of the official inquiry into sexual abuse in the Australian Defence Force (ADF), horrific stories of forced sex and rape have emerged.
The inquiry is being held in Sydney this week, and is investigating the conduct of the ADF Cadets division from 2000 onwards and the treatment of apprentices of the ADF from the 1960s onwards.
So far, the commission has heard from 111 people who claim to have experienced physical and mental abuse during their time within the defence force. 30 people will be giving evidence before the commissioners: Justice Peter McClellan, Robert Fitzgerald and Professor Helen Milroy.
The Sydney Morning Heraldhas reported on accounts given to the commission. One man, who was given the pseudonym CJA, joined the navy in Western Australia in 1967 and opened up about his experiences being hazed during his time there.
โOn multiple occasions I was snatched in the middle of the night and dragged to a sports oval,โ he said.
โI was forced to suck another recruitโs penis or lick a junior recruitโs anus. This was often after another recruit had been buggered by an older recruit and ejaculated into.
โOther times I was forced to have anal intercourse with junior recruits or I was raped by another junior recruit who was directed to do so by the older recruits or base staff. This happened repeatedly.โ
His seniors even told him: โSuck it up boy, I did it, and it will make a man of you.โ
But this wasnโt the only account of such events, another man came forward under the pseudonym CJT and described being forced to give oral sex to another man.
โ[One of them] then exposed his penis to me and said: โDonโt think you can get away that easily. Now youโll suck this.โ
โThen they rolled me over and applied shoe polish to my penis and scrotum and started scrubbing it with a brush.
โI was left lying on the tiles, bleeding, with black shoe polish all over my penis and scrotum.โ
Perhaps the scariest part of everything was that there were complaints from survivors of this abuse that these events are being ignored. Before being removed from the hearing, 55-year-old sexual abuse survivor Robert McJanett said:
โWe are just rubbish for you to flush down the toilet, this is the biggest cover-up in the country.โ
16-year-old Eleanore Tibble is another person that was victim to sexual abuse. She was just 14 when she joined the Australian Defence Force in Hobart in 1999, and she took her own life in November 2000. She was engaged in a sexual relationship with a 30-year-old instructor, and was told that she could either resign or be dishonourably discharged. Her mother, Susan Campbell, will be giving evidence before the commission on the relationship.
The hearing will continue this week, and there is hope that it will cause change amongst the culture of the ADF.
Lieutenant General David Morrison, Chief of the Army has released this message two years ago on the unacceptable sex scandal within the ADF:

A female university student in New Zealand has been suspended for sexual harassment in a case that has prompted debate over the ditch.
The 30-year-old Auckland University physics student reportedly sent her lecturer an email asking: Would you like to have sex in Bali?
The Herald On Sunday reports that on March 6 the woman sent an email to her lecturer which read:
โItโs rather forward of me but I wondered if you and your wife are the open experimental type?
โI met an interesting person I respected of this lifestyle she had several honest concurrent relationships of varying degrees of intimacy and a couple who are my close friends have shared with me they invite a third person in for a short time when it feels right.
โBali Indonesia rendevous [sic] in July if you are interested Iโve made a booking for a week here before I go diving in the komodo islands ๐ Iโd like to spend the week getting to know you intimately.โ
โI hope [the attraction is] mutual, but Iโll be fine if itโs just my overactive imagination too, distracting me pleasurably from math, so please continue relaxed and happy!โ
The woman added that if the attention was unwanted, her lecturer should ignore her email: โNo need to compute a rejection letter! And I would never expect you to be unfair, Iโm happy to wait until after the exam.โ
The lecturer forwarded the email to his boss, who conducted an investigation and found the student guilty of sexual harassment.
The decision has caused controversy, with the student appealing it and one leading New Zealand employment lawyer describing the suspension as โextremeโ.
Thousands of people have debated the case on social media, where many are grappling with the idea of sexual harassment directed at a man.
It has subsequently emerged that the student also propositioned a second staff member. Although the woman rejects the claim. โThe student says the other incident referred to by the university happened at the start of 2015,โ she told The New Zealand Herald.
โHe wasnโt my lecturer, he was a full-time student and a part-time tutor. I feel like theyโre dragging out my past.

Selena Gomezโs Carpool Karaoke with James Corden has just dropped and itโs everything.
Not only did they belt out some of the 23-year-oldโs biggest hits, including โCome & Get Itโ and โHands To Myself,โ but James gave her the third degree on dating.
When he asked if boys are allowed in Taylor Swiftโs famous squad, she responded, โI donโt know. Find me a boyfriend and then weโll talk about it!โ
So of course James dug a little further and asked if she was looking for a boyfriend and she said, โSure, why not? I donโt know. I like to have fun.โ
Then when James implied that she likes to โget a guy in every [place],โ on tour, Sel clarified, โnot every place.โ
Watch the whole clip to see Selena belt out โCome and Get itโ on a rollercoaster, head through the maccas drive through and even belt out โShake It Offโ at the end.

Are you mistreating your much-loved wardrobe staple? Follow these tips to care for your denim so your jeans will last for years and years.
1. Washing right side out:
The first mistake your making is leaving your favourite jeans right side out when washing. Always turn pants inside-out to reduce abrasion on the fabric.
2. Washing jeans too often:
As a rule of thumb, wash your jeans after 4 or 5 wears. Washing too often deteriorates the fabric and colour plus denim usually masks dirt well.
3. Washing too many pairs at once:
You might be trying to get laundry day over and done with but cramming too many pairs of jeans in a load will increase the chance of snags caused by zips. Your jeans will be much better washed when they have a bit of room to move during the cycle.
4. Using a rough wash setting:
A cold hand wash is the ideal way to preserve dark jeans, however most of us are too busy to hand wash our denim every time. Instead, choose the gentle cycle with cold water on your machine to get the job done well.
5. Not using anti-fade detergent:
Look for a washing detergent with anti-fade properties to lock in the colour of dark indigo and black denim.
6. Mixing dark and light garments:
It is especially important to wash like colours together to avoid dark denim bleeding onto other garments. Be aware that dye from new jeans can rub off on other clothing and should be washed separately for the first time.
7. Using a dryer:
Opt for line-drying or drying flat in the shade to extend the life of your jeans. Leaving them in the drier too long will fry the fabric and cause shrinkage. If you have to use the dryer, use a cool temperature setting and remove them when slightly damp and allow to air dry.
8. Not pulling wet fabric to shape:
Leave your jeans crinkled up and they will stay that way when dried, so keep your jeans in great shape by gently pulling them back to shape when damp.
9. High iron setting:
If your jeans are wrinkly, use a steam iron on warm setting.
10. Folding jeans in a wardrobe:
Never fold your jeans to store them as these folds will set into the fabric over time. Instead, hang your denim in your wardrobe.

Itโs common knowledge that everything Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge wears turns to gold.
An outfit worn by Kate has the power โ and likelihood โ to sell out immediately. A phenomenon that has been dubbed the โKate Effectโ.
However itโs not just Kate whose fashion choices have the power to inspire the masses, her children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte are quickly following in her footsteps.
The littlest royal stole the show at the Trooping The Colour parade last weekend, with Princess Charlotte attending her first-ever official royal engagement wearing a pale-pink smock dress with ruffled details and matching pink socks, booties and bow in her hair.
George didnโt let his little sister steal all his sartorial thunder however, the future king looked dapper in a blue and white combo that Prince William wore to Prince Harryโs christening in 1984.
According to a report by Brand Finance published by Fashionista, His Royal Cuteness, Prince George is worth 2.4 billion pounds to the British economy.
But itโs the youngest Cambridge member, who is quickly taking over from her big brother.
Princess Charlotte, who cannot even put her own shoes on her feet yet, is worth a staggering 3.2 billion to the British economy, according to the report.
A fact which it puts down to simply that โboysโ fashion market is smaller than the girls.โ
โI see an immediate increase in email from readers asking about whatever style George is wearing: where to purchase it; how to go about ordering from EU countries; questions about the possibility of it being reissued by a retailer,โ Susan E. Kelley, editor of What Kate Wore and What Kateโs Kidโs Wore, tells the Daily Beast.
โMore than anything, I think mothers, grandmothers and other shoppers like the cachet of putting their infant or toddler in the very same piece Prince George has worn,โ adds Kelley.

A man has been arrested after he inappropriately touched a teenage girl on an American Airlines flight.
Chad Cameron Champ, 26, was accused of groping the girl for half an hour on the flight from Dallas to Portland on Wednesday night.
The flight was not full, and there were lots of seats available, yet Chad took a seat next to the unaccompanied teenage girl.
Image: Multnomah County Sheriffโs Office
He made several attempts to โcasuallyโ touch the girl, by โaccidentallyโ dropping his headphones on her lap and leaning over her to put his magazine in her seat pocket. He brushed up against her upper arm and shoulder, and put his hands on her knee and upper thigh three times.
A flight attendant made him move seats when she spotted Chadโs hand near the girlโs crotch, and she noticed a single tear falling down the teenagerโs cheek.
Chad was arrested by police and FBI agents when the plane arrived in Oregon for abusive sexual contact, and he is currently in custody at Multnomah County jail.
He has denied doing anything wrong, and pleaded โnot guiltyโ to the charges.
The teenagerโs parents are planning on filing a civil lawsuit against American Airlines for not noticing the issue sooner, despite her father paying the $150 fee for โunaccompanied minor serviceโ on the flight.

Sydney PR powerhouse Roxy Jacenko has penned an impassioned letter begging a judge to spare her husband from prison.
Jacenkoโs husband, Oliver Curtis, was recently convicted of insider trading to the value of $1.43 million, and is awaiting sentencing. He faces up to five years in prison.
In a letter to the judge presiding over the case, Jacenko said that her husband is their childrenโs primary caregiver.
The founder of Sweat Betty PR and mother to Instagram sensation Pixie Curtis, 4, and son Hunter, 2, said that her frantic schedule means that her husband plays a crucial role in their family.
In the three-page letter, the former Celebrity Apprentice star says she is on call 24-7, with her husband taking on most of the responsibilities โ with the help of a nanny โ when it comes to their children.
โWhile I have a team of staff to assist me, I am the face of the business and my clients demand a personal touch,โ she wrote. โAs a result, I work long hours and ensure Iโm contactable by clients at all times.โ
โHe is generally the one who is home to ensure that they have dinner, are bathed and put to bed, as I am often unable to be relied upon to be home at a regular time to do these things due to the nature of my work.โ
โAdditionally, it is often the case that Pixie and Hunter are looked after by Oli alone on weekends as my job involves weekend work for various client events and clients who require that I am on site during their appearances or events.โ
โBecause of my work I would describe Olie as the primary caregiver.โ
The PR maven also touches on the special bond Curtis shares with the two. โThey screech with excitement as soon as they see him and then no one else matters to them โ not even me.โ
โWhen Oli is away, Pixie and Hunter both miss him badly and can struggle with eating and sleeping while theyโre unsettled.โ
Jacenko outlines the negative impact the trial has already taken on her family, and expressed her concern over providing for her family if Curtis is sent to jail and she cannot maintain her work.
โI know I have lost some prospective clients and will continue to do so, โ she continued.
โI have also been the target of media and public speculation as to the source of my own wealth, ignoring the fact that I have built up my business from scratch from a time well before I met Oli. Oli and I do not have any joint financial interests. We do not have any joint bank accounts.โ
โI am able to provide financial support to my family entirely. The business that I run and my personal salary are sufficient to ensure the payment of school fees, other expenses (such as the nannyโs salary), rent on our apartment and living expenses such as groceries.โ
โMy work life, and as a result my ability to provide for the family, would be severely impacted should I be unable to maintain the hours I currently work.โ
Curtis is due to be sentenced in the NSW Supreme Court this Friday.

An Adelaide father of two was so furious about the AFLโs โpatheticโ and โweakโ response to McGuireโs โdrowningโ comments that he wrote a letter of complaint. What happened next surprised him.
When Daniel Michael heard about Eddie McGuireโs controversial drowning comments he was incensed. The Adelaide father of two was so upset by McGuireโs remarks โ โjokingโ about drowning female journalist Caroline Wilson โ that he typed up a furious complaint.
Michael wrote that although his two young boys, who are five and two, love footy, he โwonโt be encouraging them to go anywhere near a footy gameโ.
โIt saddens me to think that you would announce a womenโs league, do White Ribbon Day, and then when a bunch of dinosaurs carry on about drowning a respected female journo, you do nothing except a little slap on the wrist,โ he said.
Michael then found a selection of email addresses on the AFL website, and hit send.
Less than two hours later, he had an unexpected phone call: AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan.
โI saw the number come up, with an โ03โ,โ says Michael, who owns an events venue in Adelaide. โI honestly wasnโt expecting himโฆ [McLachlan] said, โSo you think what we came out with wasnโt strong enough?โโ
The pair then spent the next few minutes talking about the AFLโs response to McGuireโs remarks.
When Michael said that as a father he found McGuireโs comments troubling, McLachlan pointed out that he too was a father โ of daughters.
โSo I said, โDo you want your girls to be subjected to this kind of thing when they reach the pinnacle of their field?โโ
Michael said he was โpassionate without being rudeโ and told McLachlan that while his words were strong, the consequences faced by McGuire were not.
At one point, Michael said McLachlan accused him of wanting โa head on a spikeโ. โBut I said, โNo, I want consequences.โ
McLachlan called Michael at 3.24pm Adelaide time. At 4:46pm Melbourne time, Collingwood FC released a statement about its support for womenโs charities, saying โthere is no place in our community for the support of violent behaviour or language, even in humour.โ
The statement came after Holden โ which last year signed a multimillion-dollar deal with Collingwood โ tweeted that it was disappointed with McGuireโs comments. The tweet said Holden is โengaging with Collingwood to directly express our disappointment and discuss the future of our sponsorshipโ

Aussies are being urged to reconsider plans to travel to Indonesia after the country has experienced โsporadic transmissionโ of the Zika virus in the tourist hotspot.
โGiven the possibility that Zika virus can cause severe malformations in unborn babies, and taking a very cautious approach, pregnant women should discuss any travel plans with the travel doctor and consider postponing travel to Indonesia,โ the department issued in a statement.
Despite the warning, Travel Doctorsโ medical director, Jennifer Sisson tells NT News that while the governmentโs warning is serious, the risk at this stage is relatively low.
โSporadic transmission means from time to time there is a case but itโs certainly not an outbreak like Brazil,โ she said of the mosquito-borne virus.
That said, pregnant women, or women hoping to conceive, are advised to avoid countries affected wherever possible.
โWe certainly know that exposure in the first trimester can be very severe (in terms of birth defects like microcephaly),โ Dr Sisson said.
โWe are just trying to work out if it applies to the whole of pregnancy but at this stage we donโt differentiate and provide the same advice for women at any stage of pregnancy.โ
49 countries including Fiji, Vietnam, Brazil and Samoa are now listed as having โcurrent or recent transmissionโ of the virus.
This news comes as the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) have announced plans to start a small clinical trial of the first experimental Zika vaccine on humans in the coming weeks.
The Washington Post reports that Inovio Pharmaceuticals will conduct tests on 40 healthy humans with results expected later this year.

A man who commented a stream of abuse on a womanโs screenshotted Tinder profile after it was uploaded could face up to three years jail time for his actions.
Zane Alchin, 25, who is a labourer in Sydney, is now pleading guilty to the charge of using a carriage service to menace, harass or offend.
The abuse occurred after 31-year-old Chris Hall posted a screenshot of Olivia Melvilleโs Tinder profile to Facebook, where she was quoting Canadian hip-hop artist Drake: โType of girl who will suck you dry and then eat some lunch with youโ.
Zane posted abuse on the status, and then when Oliviaโs friends defended her on a different post, he commented back 55 messages of abuse.
โWhat law am I breaking? Iโm not the one out of the fโing kitchen.โ
He even commented mentioning โthe best thing about raping feministsโ.
Paloma Brierley Newton, 24, screenshotted the abuse and handed it to police.
Alchin was arrested in October last year and claimed that he was drunk at the time and was not aware trolling was a crime.
Paloma started a Facebook group called โSexual Violence Wonโt Be Silencedโ and has spoken out about the crime: โI think that, by standing up and saying that he is guilty of a crime, it can put an end to all the backlash of, โThis is just the internet, this isnโt a crime.'โ

First she conquered the fashion world with her blog, the ode to minimalism Harper and Harley. Now Sara Donaldsonโs ready to take on the big business of e-commerce with her longterm friend, publicist Georgia Martin, with an online store called The UNDONE.
Just imagine Harper & Harley, only in physical, tangible form: sleek, chic, minimal clothes that you can buy (and you will want to). Stocking an intelligent edit of local and international labels, in Donaldson and Martinโs preferred colour palette of black, white, grey and neutrals (with a sprinkling of denim for good measure), itโs basically the dream wardrobe of any classicist. Launch designers include cool girl favourites Christopher Esber, Georgia Alice and Natasha Schweitzer, as well as international brands like Charlie May and FRAME Denim.
For anyone thinking this is a part-time thing, a side project or the dreaded H word (โHobbyโ), think again. โThereโs a lot of skin in the game,โ Martin laughs, when we catch up for lunch. The two have a CFO, they are expanding their staff to include team members who will oversee despatch, and they are launching with a full complement of big-name brands. And although she will continue to juggle both the online projects, Donaldson doesnโt miss the good old glamorous days of full-time, 100% dedicated blogging one bit.
Sara Donaldson and Georgia Martin at Australian Fashion Week.
โI remember reading an article and it was like, do you want to create a hobby job where you just work and have fun with it, or do you want to create a real business?โ she says. โThis isnโt a hobby. Weโre all in.โ
We sat down with the pair to find out their secrets to success, their best business advice, and how their friendship has survived the perils of working together.
MARIE CLAIRE: Why did you want to start your own store? SARA DONALDSON: We are constantly online shopping and we found there was a massive gap for a site where it was really tailored and niche. GEORGIA MARTIN: We both wanted to create something that was new and ours and something we could own.
MC: What is the niche that you want to fill? SD: Itโs definitely based around colour: black, white, grey and neutrals. Itโs also very much a trend in fashion: going back to basics. The UNDONE is very much about adding pieces to your wardrobe that you will have forever. And because weโre about the simplicity of the colour palate itโs all about the attention to detail and itโs all about a little twist here or a little embellishment there, nothing thatโs too trendy. GM: Someone asked me the other day, โOh, but donโt you think itโs a bit boring to have that?โ And my response wasโฆ SD: Youโre not our customer. We have nothing for you. GM: Weโre not against people who dress colourfully or brightly โ thatโs individualism and a sense of style and thatโs great. But weโre not trying to appeal to that person, weโre appealing to the person who [dresses] essentially like us. SD: When a little spaghetti strap is the most beautiful part of a garment, and you can wear a simple black dress but you can be the most chic woman in the roomโฆ Thatโs what weโre looking for.
MC: Do you remember the first thing you ever bought from an online store? GM: Thatโs a good question! I think mine was probably something like ASOS or something. Growing up in a rural town I feel like I was quite quick on online shopping. Once I worked out how the debit [card] thing worked. SD: I would buy all the designers on Ebay.
MC: Did you find it hard to switch from being friends to being business partners? SD: Weโre in a unique situation where weโve passed a few friendship tests already. So we lived together, and thatโs a hard thing for friends to survive. And weโve also worked together on Harper & Harley, and we found we had a really great balance there. GM: We both have a lot of respect for each other. We have a personal relationship and we have a business relationship, but itโs still us. SD: 9 times out of 10 weโre on the same page. GM: We havenโt had any major issues. Talk to us in six months.
MC: Whatโs the best thing about working with Sara? GM: I can be a little hot-headed at times. Iโm very opinionated. I think working with Sara it balances that out because she can calm me pretty quickly and then give me another approach to solving an issue.
MC: Whatโs the best thing about working with Georgia? SD: I think because she has so much passion โ GM: My mum calls it my gusto! SD: She just gives it 100% always, which is really exciting and inspiring. We share the same entrepreneurial spirit. Nothing is going to stop her.
MC: What are some of the most important things you need in order to succeed in our startup culture? SD: You need to believe in yourself, because people will always question what sets you apart, why is this different, why will yours succeed, blah blah blah. And you have to answer that with so much confidence. GM: One of the best skills I ever learnt is that itโs okay to ask for help and to ask questions and to get those people around you who are really strong in their fields to help you. SD: Be open-minded. Ask for help when you need it. Donโt think that youโre the smartest person in the room.
MC: Whatโs the best advice youโve ever received? SD: Donโt make the same mistake twice. But you can learn from your mistakes. I like to turn every problem into a solution.
Be open-minded. Ask for help when you need it. Donโt think that youโre the smartest person in the room.
Sara Donaldson, Director & Buyer, The UNDONE
MC: Whatโs the biggest mistake youโve ever made? GM: Staying in a job you donโt like. Know whatโs not right for you. And also know your worth. I mean, Iโve been told multiple times โyouโre too young for that roleโ. But itโs like, well, no, I know my worth, I know what I can do, I know my limitations as well. Make it work for you. SD: Just know when you need to stand up for yourself. Weโve all been in a job where weโve been taken advantage of, right?
MC: Whatโs the one thing youโre sick of hearing in business meetings? SD: We get the whole โyouโre so young, youโre young women, how are you doing this?โ GM: I get the young thing constantly. I actually have a bit of a chip on my shoulder about it and I think itโs getting worse because I donโt tell anyone my age anymore. I let them sit there very confused and bothered sometimes, but I donโt tell them.

2. The annual White Ribbon anti-violence match took place.
3. Eddie McGuire suggested heโd pay to drown journalist Caroline Wilson.
Thatโs right. In a week when the league was supposed to be celebrating the inclusion of women and raising awareness about domestic violence, Collingwood president and media personality Eddie McGuire, together with his snickering male co-hosts, made disturbing, violent jibes about one of the leagueโs most esteemed โ and female โ reporters.
โI reckon we should start the campaign for a one-person slide next year, Caroline Wilson,โ he said at the Big Freeze ice bath charity event, speaking on Triple M radio. โAnd Iโll put in 10 grand straight away โฆ I reckon we could charge 10,000 for everyone to stand around the outside and bomb her.โ
Today, McGuire issued a general apology, yet defended his comments as โplayful banterโ.
But this is no laughing matter.
According to national anti-violence body Our Watch โ who the AFL recently partnered with โ derogatory jokes about women reflect and reinforce sexist attitudes, and excuse the gender stereotyping said to underpin domestic violence.
Wilson (who, as a hard-hitting journalist, has copped more than her fair share of criticism from disgruntled male football personalities over the years) went a step further when asked about McGuireโs comments, likening his taunts to โcasual racismโ.
โCasual violent language might be meant as a joke but I wonder how many times we have to draw this line in the sand between what is a joke and what is completely unacceptable,โ she said on 3AW radio this morning.
The other reason we cannot simply dismiss McGuireโs on-air remarks as harmless humour, is that they represent a broader, entrenched sexism problem in footy.
The AFL may pride itself on welcoming women (it has a stronger female following than any other code in the world), but inside its blokey culture, the line between mischievous and misogynous is all too frequently crossed.
The leagueโs unofficial but hugely popular The Footy Show regularly serves up the ugliest examples, each episode filled with lewd comments and stunts that objectify women, including the time Sam Newman, McGuireโs ex-co-host on the show, manhandled a life-sized, lingerie-clad mannequin of Wilson.
Positive change may be in the air: earlier this year Rebecca Maddern was named The Footy Showโs first-ever female host and the AFL womenโs league was unveiled. However in both instances, social media was flooded with degrading comments about a womanโs place in football (cutting oranges on the sidelines, for the record).
The scary truth is, footy has become a microcosm of modern society.
If we let public figures carry on with their blokey โbanterโ and sexist jeers that verge on violent, what do we expect off the field?

While the Australian Institute of Company Directors quarterly gender diversity report last week revealed that we are gaining headway in the fight for gender equality in the workplace, it also showed that we are still fighting an uphill battle.
To date, there have been 35 women were appointed to ASX 200 in 2016, which sees the rate of female representation at 23.6%
The institute, who have set a target of 30% female representation on ASX200 boards by 2018, still have a ways to go with Fairfax reporting that there are still 20 ASX 200 companies who do not feature a single woman on their boards.
The companies, in no particular order, are from a wide range of industries including mining, telco, pharmaceuticals and manufacturing.

โItโs pretty extraordinary that there are still large listed companies which have no women on their board, frankly itโs verging on the inexplicable,โ AICDโs managing director John Brogden tells ABC. โMy message to boards that are all-male is that they need to realise and embrace the benefits that diversity brings to their organisation.โ
โThey need to come to terms with the fact that expectations of shareholders are changing and those expectations are that there be a level of diversity on boards,โ he said.

Heโs pretty posh Hiddleston not only was educated at Eton, perhaps the most prestigious boysโ school in the U.K. (Prince William and Eddie Redmayne are also graduates), but his great-great-grandfather was Sir Edmund Vestey, 1st Baronet.
Heโs super smart After school, Hiddleston went to Cambridge where he graduated with a double first. We love a smarty pants!
Heโll make you laugh The man can do a mean impression โ from Chris Evans to Chris Hemsworth and Robert De Niro, Hiddleston is a masterful mimic. We are amused.
He can bust a move To wit, this video of him channeling his inner Michael Jackson while on a south Korean chat show. Perhaps most significant of all could be when he and TSwift hit the dance floor at this yearsโ Met Ball after party. The rest, as they say, was tabloid history.
He can speak many, many languagesโฆ French, Italian, and Greek, to name a few. Itโs a definite plus that most likely Hiddleston would be able to tell you how much he likes you in a variety of European tongues.
His bottom has itโs own hashtag Starring in this yearโs blockbuster mini-series The Night Manager, a love scene between our own Elizabeth Debicki and Hiddleston offered viewers one delectable sighing of Hiddlestonโs derriere. The Twittersphere approved and thus #Hiddlesbum was born.
He well may be the new 007 Hiddleston is considered one of the frontrunners to get a license to kill. Consider us both shaken and stirred.

A Pennsylvania man is facing charges after police found him living with 12 girls aged from 6 months to 18 years.
The man, 51-year-old Lee Kaplan of Bucks County was arrested on Thursday and has been charged with statutory sexual assault, corruption of minors, aggravated indecent assault, indecent assault and unlawful contact with a minor, according to CNN.
According to the police report, one of the girls, aged 18, is the mother of a 3-year-old child and a 6-month-old child fathered by Kaplan.
โThey were living down in the basement, they were hiding in the chicken coop,โ said Robert Hoopes, Lower Southampton Director for Public Safety during a press conference according to 6ABC.
โTheyโre Amish, and they have a different way of life I would guess.โ
It is yet to be determined if Kaplan sexually assaulted the remaining girls.
The girlโs parents, Daniel and Savilla Stoltzfus, have also been arrested after police allege they โgiftedโ her to Kaplan after he helped them with their financial difficulties. She was just 14 when she gave birth to her eldest child.
The Stoltzfuses reportedly claim to be the parents of all 10 of the girls, who they sent to live with Kaplan after they lost their family farm, however they are yet to provide birth certificates or social security documentation to support this.
They have been charged with endangering the welfare of children, while the father faces extra charges of criminal conspiracy and statutory sexual assault, according to official court documents.
Police have revealed they investigated Kaplan after a tip off from a neighbour who spotted a number of the girls looking โunhappy and sadโ.
โI just wasnโt going to let go,โ Jen Betz told 6ABC. โI saw a couple girls last week standing in the driveway. They just looked unhappy and sad โฆ and Iโve been telling my husband for years something isnโt right, something isnโt right.โ
Both Kaplan and the Stoltzfuses are being held on US$1 million bail in the Bucks County Correctional Facility.

Asylum seekers have been held in detention and used as political pawns, but they are more than just headlines.
To celebrate Refugee Week, here are the stories of three refugees who have not only survived but thrived in Australia โ proving that together we can make our country a better place.
Magdalena Roze
MAGDALENA ROZE, 34
TV presenter, food writer and meteorologist. In 1981, her parents fled Poland after martial law was imposed.
โPeople are always surprised to learn I am a refugee. With my blonde hair and blue eyes, I donโt fit the stereotypical image portrayed in the media and by politicians.
โI canโt imagine being in my parentsโ shoes. They fled Poland when my mum was pregnant with me [Magdalena was born in a refugee camp in Austria, then the family moved to Australia when she was six weeks old and spent 10 months in Villawood Immigration Detention Centre] and left everything โ including their farm โ behind.
โConditions were so oppressive, they had no choice. They arrived in Australia with no language skills and no money. St Vincent de Paul gave us furniture and clothing, and Mum and Dad always told us how grateful they were that Australia helped them.
โI think one of the major reasons weโve been able to prosper is because weโve had that great balance of maintaining our Polish heritage, but also being proud and passionate Australians. I recall one Australia Day, Mum and Dad put an Australian flag out the front and invited some tradies who were working on our house to stay for a barbecue. They were blown away by my dadโs generosity.โ
Monika Radulovic
MONIKA RADULOVIC, 25
Has an honours degree in psychology and is Miss Universe Australia 2015. She and her family fled Bosnia in 1991.
โMy parents, who were both professionals, fled Bosnia with me before the war broke out.
โWe boarded a boat for Denmark and spent the next four years living in a tiny room in a dingy hotel, before being sponsored to come to Australia. We arrived with nothing and none of us could speak English, but my dad adapted quickly.
โI grew up in Hurstville in Sydney, which is a multicultural area so I never really experienced racism, but I was aware of our struggles โ we lived in a unit while I dreamt of a house, a backyard and a dog.
โThroughout my life, my parents have drilled in me that education is freedom, so I worked hard and got my degree in psychology.
โI became a model after being approached at school, and in 2015 had the honour of representing Australia in the Miss Universe pageant. Other entrants were often shocked to hear I was originally from Bosnia, but it was nice to explain how multicultural Australia is.
โI am so extremely proud that a refugee has taken out the title of Miss Universe Australia. It demonstrates Australiaโs capacity to be compassionate and kind to those in need. I have been offered safety and freedom.
Everyone deserves that!โ
Nahji Chu
NAHJI CHU, 46
Founder of restaurant chain MissChu. Her family were some of the first Vietnamese/Laotian refugees to settle in Australia.
โI spent my early childhood in a jungle village that was overrun by the [communist] Pathet Lao regime.
โWe were forced to flee โ Mum left first with four of my siblings, then Dad smuggled me and my brother out on a fishing boat.
โIt was 1975 and I was five. After being thrown into jail for a few months, we were transferred to a squalid refugee camp in Thailand. One time I witnessed people being gunned down by drunken officials. We lived there for three years before going to Australia.
โWe arrived with nothing โ none of us spoke English. My parents worked in a chicken farm, a brewery and a condom factory.
โAt school I was called names, spat on and kicked. Growing up, I felt my life was about proving I was worthy. I tried being a photographer, a journalist, an actor.
โBut in the end I thought, โNahji, youโre Vietnamese โ just sell rice paper rolls!โ Turns out that I made the right choice.
โAfter establishing MissChu, within months I got my first order for 20,000 rolls. I succeeded because I was given a gift courtesy of my background: resilience and strength.
โWhat refugees bring to the table is diversity โ it strengthens a societyโs make-up. Iโd like to see our government use more cost-effective and humane ways to house refugees with a much quicker turnaround. They will be so grateful and give so much more back!โ

Just weeks after Brock Turnerโs sentence was delivered, an ex-Vanderbilt university student was convicted of encouraging his football teammates to rape an unconscious woman who he was seeing at the time.
Brandon Vandenburg was found guilty on multiple counts of aggravated rape and sexual battery, as well as one count of unlawful photography.
The decision came as part of a retrial, after Vanderburg and teammate Cory Batey were convicted last year, but verdicts were thrown out after a juror withheld information that he was a rape victim.
Four former teammates were charged in the case, with two of them committing the rape itself.
In the retrial, there was some dispute between the prosecution and the defence over how much of a part Vandenburg had played in the rape.
The prosecution argued that he had taken advantage of the woman and her trust by giving her alcohol and then encouraging his teammates to commit the rape. They even had evidence that he had passed out condoms to the other players before they committed the crime.
However, the defence argued that Vandenburg was too drunk to know what was happening, and that he was merely asking the other men to help him carry her to his room after they couldnโt get into her apartment.
After four hours of deliberation, the jurors found him guilty. The verdict could mean that he may face a sentence of 15 to 25 years.

When Karen Walsh, Broadway actress and mother of two, found out she had inoperable, Stage IV cancer, she wasnโt sure how her family, friends and mostly importantly, herself, would cope with the news.
A friend and survivor of breast cancer encouraged her to โgo publicโ with her colon cancer diagnosis, explaining that itโs the support of friends and family that will get her through. And thatโs exactly what Walsh, 40, did, using her Instagram account to announce each chemo round with a funny selfie and tongue-in-cheek caption.
But she took things up a notch 18 weeks into her chemotherapy treatment when she recreated a scene from Star Wars โ complete with wigs costumes and yes, lightsabers โ with some of her chemotherapy โsquadโ.
Since then, her friends and family have helped her recreate scenes from Charlieโs Angels, Forrest Gump, The Breakfast Club and Thelma and Louise.
โI really view this as a coping mechanism for myself,โ Walsh told The Huffington Post. โI want it to be empowering, I want there to be forward motion, I want there to be joy or strength. I also want this to be something my daughter and son can see.โ
โWhen people are like, โOh, youโre so brave, youโre so inspiring,โ sometimes I donโt understand that because I just donโt see how else I would handle this,โ Walsh went on to add. โI have to get through this for my kids โฆ I just donโt have any choice if I want to be around to see my kids graduate from college, or get married or whatever they end up doing. I want to be around for that, so I need to try everything that I can.โ

Daily suicide attempts, self-immolations... a trauma expert who has worked in the wake of disasters like the Bali bombings says our detention centres shocked him
A trauma expert who has worked in the aftermath of the Boxing Day tsunami and the Bali bombings says the conditions at Australiaโs offshore detention camps are the worst heโs ever seen.
Psychologist and trauma expert Paul Stevenson, who was awarded the Order of Australia Medal for his work after the Bali bombings, was deployed to Manus Island and Nauru 14 times between 2014 and 2015. His job was to care for the mental health of the detention centre security guards.
Mr Stevenson has written an open letter for The Guardian Australia exposing the appalling conditions at the centres.
โIn my entire career of 43 years I have never seen more atrocity than I have seen in the incarcerated situations of Manus Island and Nauru.
In my entire career of 43 years I have never seen more atrocity than [at] Manu Island and Nauru
The letter has been released as Channel 9โs Current Affairs programme is due to screen an episode offering โunprecedented accessโ to the detention centres, which are closed to the media. Current Affairs claims the show will โstunโ Australia.
โEvery day is demoralising. Every single day and every night. โฆโฆAnd itโs that demoralisation that is the paramount feature of offshore detention. Itโs indeterminate, itโs under terrible, terrible conditions, and there is nothing you can say about it that says thereโs some positive humanity in this. And thatโs why itโs such an atrocity.โ
According to Mr Stevenson, โhanging and choking and head-butting and swallowing pills and nails and detergent and all that โฆ goes on as a matter of course.โ
According to The Guardian Australia, children regularly witnessed their parents self-harming.
Mr Stevenson says conditions at the detention centres are so appalling that recent self-immolations โ where two refugees set themselves alight in desperation โ โdefinitelyโ to be โexpectedโ.
โThis is what detention does to people,โ Mr Stevenson says. โIt turns them against themselves to use themselves as currency. And thatโs a very very significant level of traumatisation, when somebody does that. All they have is their own body to negotiate with. If weโre in any way supporting the development of that very, very mentally unstable phenomena we need to do something about that.โ
During Mr Stevensonโs time at the centres, six children attempted mass suicide, one woman tried to kill herself seven times in five weeks and a three-year-old was allegedly molested by a guard.

Prince William just celebrated his third fatherโs day and had a brilliant message for all the fatherโs out there.
The doting dad to Prince George, two, and Princess Charlotte, 13 months, penned a moving piece for Heads Together, the charity he started with Duchess Catherine and Princess Harry, encouraging dads to open up about their mental health with their little ones.
The Duke Of Cambridge met with other dads, mentors & their children to discuss fatherhood over breakfast #FathersDayhttps://t.co/mPeaCDrN0Y
Today I celebrate my third Fatherโs Day as a father. For me it is a day not just to celebrate how fortunate I am for my young family, but to reflect on just how much Iโve learned about fatherhood and the issues facing fathers in all walks of life. In particular, it is a time to reflect on my responsibility to look after not just the physical health of my two children, but to treat their mental needs as just as important a priority.
Along with Catherine and Harry, I have been spending a lot of time working on issues around mental health. What we have seen time and time again is that so many of the issues that adolescents and adults are dealing with can be linked to unresolved childhood challenges โ addicts that were not getting treatment for a serious psychological condition that started in their teens; men who committed suicide who had been depressed since they were in primary school; homeless teenagers who could not confront significant emotional challenges.
Recent surveys have found that over half of parents have never broached the topic of mental well-being with their children, and a third would feel like failures if their child needed help,โ the British prince added. โThatโs so sad โ no parents whose child needs help is a failure. Taking the next step and actually getting help is what matters.
Take the opportunity to discuss how you are coping with life and fatherhood with your wife, partner or with your friends,โ he said. โAnd know that if your son or daughter ever needs help, they need their fatherโs guidance and support just as much as they need their motherโs.

The school teacher of Orlando shooter Omar Mateenโs wife has spoken out about her struggle with understanding complex situations.
Susan was Noor Zahi Salmanโs teacher at her California middle school, and she spoke to ABC News about her experience with teaching her. Noor was enrolled in Susanโs special education classes.
โNoor had difficulty with retention, she had difficulty with conceptualizing, understanding, all challenges to her,โ Susan said. โShe tried hard. She was very sweet.โ
Noorโs family also released a statement to ABC news in response to Susanโs comments. It outlined that she did not understand โcause and effectโ, and that she needed extra help in high school.
โNoor is completely innocent and [was] unaware of the attacks,โ it said.
Noor is being investigated by the FBI to see whether she had any involvement in the attacks. She has admitted to the FBI that she drove him to Pulse nightclub and other sites, such as Disney World, to โscope them outโ. She also said that she was with him when he bought the gun and ammunition, but didnโt contact authorities.
Omarโs ex-wife, Sitora Yusufiy, said that he was mentally ill and has even alleged that he abused her throughout the relationship.
Noor and Omar married in September 2011 and met online.

Rebecca Juddโs style has been known to cause shopping frenzies in the past, but her latest โKate Middleton Effectโ-like influence has caused Country Road to bring this particular dress back on the market.
Bec Judd posted this photo of the maternity-friendly striped ribbed dress a couple of days ago, captioned: โHello little juddys. Shoot day for @adairs with the A Team.โ
The dress is from this season but sold out quickly as the โseasonโs most popular dressโ according to Country Road. However, Country Road listened to peopleโs requests, and announced on Instagram that they will be restocking the dress. They captioned the photo: โYou spoke. We listened. It was a happy UK Fatherโs Day for British Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne, with the announcement he and his wife Hannah Bagshawe have become parents to a daughter.
Iris Mary Redmayne was born on June 15, his publicist has confirmed to English newspaper The Sun after an announcement was printed in London broadsheet The Times.
Eddie, 34 and Hannah, 33, met when they were in high school. Eddie attended the prestigious Eton College where Prince William was a classmate, whilst Hannah attended a nearby all-girls school.
Friends for 12 years before they started dating, the private couple married in Somerset on December 15, 2014, the same year Redmayne won the best actor Oscar for his portrayal of scientist Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything.
The British pair announced they were expecting their first child in January 2015, with Redmayne (who called his wife โan absolute wonderโ) saying what surprised him most about gearing up for the baby was โpretty much every element of it. We started looking at logistics of all the things we need before we get to the hospitalโand itโs a long list.โ
Speaking to E!โs Ryan Seacrest, former antiques dealer Bagshawe said her first pregnancy was โunbelievable. So much has happened we canโt even compute.โ

Eddie McGuire has come under fire for making a โjokeโ about drowning sports journalist Caroline Wilson on Triple M radio.
Caroline Wilson is The Ageโs chief football writer, and a multiple Walkley award winning journalist. McGuire and the other men on the show joked that they wanted to hold her under icy water for the Big Freeze at the MCG to raise money for the Cure for MND Foundation.
They have since faced criticism from many public figures, who think his attitudes are โdangerousโ and โsexistโ.
The AFL released a statement yesterday saying that Gillon McLachlan had only just been made aware of the issue, and had this to say: โAlthough seeking to be light-hearted, the language and tenor of the wording could be seen to be supporting violent attitudes or actions against women, and was therefore clearly not appropriate.โ
Miki Perkins, Social Affairs Reporter for The Age has also written a scathing piece, saying that โwe canโt let the misogynistic banter of Eddie McGuire slip pastโ, because jokes matter, and reflect some of our societyโs problem with women.
Eddie McGuire has defended the joke, claiming that it was โall in the spirit of the fun of the dayโ. However Caroline Wilson did not agree that it was just playful banter, and she has said that he โcrossed a lineโ. Though people told her it sounded better spoken than written down, after listening to the segment she did not agree.
McGuire: In fact I reckon we should start the campaign for a one-person slide next year. Caroline Wilson. And Iโll put in 10 grand straight away โ make it 20. [laughter] And if she stays under, 50. [laughter]
What do you reckon guys? Who else is up there? I know youโre in JB?
James Brayshaw: No, yep, Straight in.
Danny Frawley: Iโll be in amongst it Ed.
McGuire: Is Duck there?
Wayne Carey: Yes, Iโm here mate.
McGuire: Duckโs in. Dannyโs in โ already spoken up.
Frawley: Yeah Iโm in Ed.
McGuire: I could do an auction here today.
Frawley: Iโll actually jump in and make sure she doesnโt โ Iโll hold her under, Ed.
McGuire: I reckon we could charge 10,000 for everyone to stand around the outside and bomb her.
Damien Barrett: Iโm on Caroโs side now, Ed. Iโm on Caroโs side these days, Ed.
[indecipherable]
McGuire: Sheโll burn you like everyone else, mate. Sheโs like the black widow. She just sucks you in and gets you and you start talking to her and then bang! She gets you.
Brayshaw: If you ran that auction from down there, I reckon youโd start grabbing some bids out of the seats too. Thereโd be money piling in everywhere.
McGuire: Itโs be magnificent. I think we should do that next year. Itโs all good for footy.

Lane Graves, the little boy who tragically died in an alligator attack at Disneyโs Grand Floridan Resort and Spa last week, will be laid to rest on Tuesday.
A rosary prayer service will be held at St. Patrickโs Catholic Church in Elkhorn, Nebraska for the Graves family on Sunday. There will be a wake on Monday, then Lane will be buried on Tuesday at the Resurrection Cemetery.
There will be no mobile, camera or recording devices allowed at the event โout of respect for the familyโ.
The family is not speaking publicly about the incident at this time, with the father, Matt Graves, saying โwe simply cannot at this timeโ.
St. Patrickโs is accepting donations on behalf of the family. The Elkhorn community has also been helping out to raise money for the family at this difficult time.

On Sunday June 12 at 2.02am Omar Mateen walked into Pulse nightclub and opened fire into the crowd. Within moments dozens would be dead, and by morning, the Orlando nighclub would be awash with blood, the death toll climbing to 50, including Mateen.
In the week since the Orlando shooting, troubling questions have been raised about Mateenโs links to ISIS; the role of his wife in the attack and the motives behind the shooting.
However, there is one question that many of us who do not live in the US find particularly incomprehensible: how is it possible that Mateen โ a man who was known to the FBI and even interviewed by them three times โ came to legally access a semi-automatic weapon?
In the US the simple fact is that anyone aged over 18 is allowed to own or carry a gun. If youโre over 21, you can carry a handgun.
Specifics vary between states โ some donโt allow assault rifles; others require gun owners to register their weapons with police. But, worldwide, the laws are considered relatively lax.
The night of the shooting (Credit: Getty)
No one has put the issue in perspective better than The Examiner, which produced a piece in 2013 that drew a parallel between gun laws and abortion laws โ and which recently went viral.
Only one store in the entire state would sell guns. (See: Mississippi, Arkansas, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wyoming for states with only one abortion provider.)
Youโd have to fill out an enormous personal background check including intrusive personal information that has nothing to do with your ability to own or use a gun. Then youโd have to wait at least 72 hours and come back to the store. (Remember, itโs the only one in the state. You better hope you donโt live on the other side of Wyoming.)
If you lived in Virginia, youโd have to come back (again) for an invasive and uncomfortable fMRI (which costs around $300 out of your pocket) to ensure your honesty in answering all the background check information and your intentions to use your gun responsibly. (This was as close as I could get to the invasive transvaginal procedure included in the recently passed Virginia bill.)
Ohโฆ and if you were married, your spouse might have to sign off on your gun ownership.
Depressing isnโt it?
Yet change is possible. Last week a filibuster led by Connecticut Senator Chris Murphy forced the issue into the Senate. As a result, this week, there will be a vote in the Senate on gun control issues.
Itโs unlikely a bill will be passed, but with election tensions ramping up, Murphyโs 14-hour filibuster has at least thrown the issue into the political spotlight and made it an election issue. So thereโs hope. Just.
(Want more? We love this #throwback West Wing clip about gun control.)

Dr Susan Carland, lecturer at the National Centre for Australian Studies at Monash University
โOne of the issues thatโs closest to my heart is refugees. Itโs certainly debated a lot, but not in the way I would like and the policies of the two main parties are not those I want to see.
โOffshore detention is very troubling โ now that the refugee situation is being managed by the navy, everything can be called an โoperational maritime matterโ and they can say theyโre not going to talk about it. [But]
โWhen we have politicians like Peter Dutton saying [refugees] are illiterate in their mother tongue and in English, and theyโll be on the dole and theyโll steal our jobs, thatโs just scaremongering. We might not be able to know all the information about whatโs happening in detention centres, but I do think itโs reasonable to expect our leaders to show some logic and leadership in the way they deal with issues like refugees.
โStudies have shown that if you continue to cast a group of people as enemies in the public imagination for long enough, that is how they will be perceived.
โAlso, Iโd like to see the main parties tackle corporate tax avoidance head on. There were some measures towards the end of last year, but I donโt think they were frank and fearless enough.
Itโs entirely reasonable for the average Australian to feel annoyed that they pay tax, while big multinationals can still get away with paying a pittance.โ
โWe need an overhaul of Family Law systemโ
Rosie Batty, domestic violence campaigner and 2015 Australian of the Year. In 2014, her 11-year-old son was murdered by his father

โSince Lukeโs death Iโve been completely swamped by huge numbers of women reaching out to me in desperation regarding Family Court decisions. Overwhelmingly, [their concerns are over] a decision to allow a parent continued access to a child even though there is a history of violence โ in many cases, extreme violence.
โBut there are other problems too. The thing that appals everyone is that the victim can be cross-examined by the very person who has committed violence against them.
โNavigating the Family Law system can take two or three years, and tens of thousands of dollars. It needs a complete overhaul.
โOn June 20 โ Lukeโs birthday โ I plan to present a petition to politicians asking them to enact a five-step plan to keep women and children safe, by fixing Family Law. I know [politicians] would be horrified if they understood the depth of the problem. We need to demand that fixing it becomes a priority.โ
โI donโt want to hear 20-year plans. I want to know about changes that can be made nowโ

โAs a business owner, I want to be in an environment that allows business to flourish โ whichever party is going to be the best economic manager is the one I want to see elected.
โIf we donโt have a strong economy, everyoneโs in trouble; there will be less money to share around. History is a good indicator of who to trust, and policies [that are costed].
โAre renewables going to be much more expensive for the economy, increase business costs and make us less competitive overseas?
โAlso, I donโt necessarily want to hear about plans for 20 yearsโ time โ I want politicians to be able to say what theyโre going to do for the next three or four years.โ
โWe should not be aspiring to an unaffordable American health modelโ
Tara Moss, author and activist
Tara Moss (Credit: Getty)
โI would like to see more recognition of the fact that we live in a society, not just an economy, and some strong campaigning against what appears to be an ongoing move towards an American-style healthcare systeโAs we know, medical bills are greater in America than in any other first world or โWesternโ country, and so is the inequality, in terms of those who can afford it. This is not a system to aspire to.
โIโd like to see a real commitment to addressing the epidemic of family violence in this country. Real commitment means more than words, it means policy and funding. That two out of three women who are fleeing violence are turned away from refuges is not good enough.
I believe there should be specific, clear, federal laws against what is known as โrevenge pornโ โ the dissemination, without consent, of personal, intimate or sexual images and video of a person. This is a form of sexual assault and is acknowledged as such in some countries, like Israel, where they treat revenge porn perpetrators as sex offenders, but in Australia the laws are not as clear, and need updating.
On another note, the arts are being absolutely gutted, and unless we want to see Australian stories and Australian culture lost, and replaced by American and British imports, we need to make it clear to both political parties that the recent cuts to the arts have gone too far. Likewise, the CSIRO and climate scientists are losing their jobs left, right and centre. This seems like a bad time in human history to ignore climate science.โ
โWe need tighter laws on junk-food advertisingโ
Monica Meldrum, founder, Whole Kids
Monica Meldrum (Credit: Supplied)
โIโd like to see real leadership โ politicians listening more to the community and taking much more decisive action on issues like climate change. We need to transition faster to renewable energy and put strategies in place to protect areas like the Great Barrier Reef.
I think government needs to facilitate more of an exchange of ideas between big business and small business: thereโs a lot of talk about the start-up space, but a lack of support for established businesses that are ready to scale up, while bigger business has a lot to learn from entrepreneurship in terms of innovation. Weโre finding a lot of highly skilled women and men are just checking out of big corporate, wanting more flexibility around family and lifestyle.
Also, Australia has one of the highest rates of childhood obesity in the world โ one in four kids are overweight or obese. There is evidence to show that one of the most cost-effective measures to prevent childhood obesity is to restrict unhealthy food advertising to children.
The government needs to introduce tighter regulation on junk-food advertising and ban junk-food ads on TV before 9pm.โ
โIโve just come back from the Great Barrier Reef where most of the coral was dyingโ
Amanda McKenzie, CEO, Climate Council
โIโve been disappointed that climate change and the environment havenโt featured particularly heavily in the campaign so far.
โI have just come back from the Great Barrier Reef as I wanted to see for myself what the damage was, and I was blown away โ it was far worse than I thought. Yesterday, at a dive site that two months ago was 100 per cent alive, most of the coral was dead or dying โ huge swathes covered in in dark brown algae, or [bleached] white. There have been very high ocean temperatures and reefs worldwide have been experiencing this bleaching event.
โWe have left action very late. We need to reduce emissions and move to more renewable energy: the Labour Party does have a policy for 50 per cent renewable energy by 2030, which is really the minimum requirement, but we havenโt yet seen the same commitments by the Coalition.โ

Exciting news for the fans of musicals and the Broadway hit Wicked!
The film adaptation of Wicked is coming December 20, 2019 from Universal Pictures.
Tony Award winner Stephen Daldry, who produces the stage show, will direct the film adaptation. Writer Winnie Holzman and composer Stephen Schwarts, who also worked on the Broadway show, are also joining Stephen for the movie musical.
As of yet, thereโs no word on who will star in the film.
Wicked first opened on Broadway in 2003, launching the careers of Kristen Chenoweth and Idina Menzel.
The Hollywood Reporter reported that in March, the production grossed over $1 billion, with global ticket sales around $4billion. If thatโs any indication, the film is sure to be a hit at the box office.
Although it is quit a long wait until the release, it will so be worth it!

Talk about the ultimate power trip! Michelle Obama and Meryl Streep are heading overseas together. At the end of this month, the First Lady, along with her mother Marian Robinson and her teenage daughters Sasha and Malia, will be heading to Liberia, Morocco and Spain to promote her Let Girls Learn initiative. Streep will join the family in Morocco, along with actress Frieda Pinto, where they will lend their star power to Obamaโs campaign for female education.
This isnโt the first time Obama has called on celebrity help to promote the initiative, bringing Kelly Clarkson, Zendaya, and Janelle Monae together in March for the Let Girls Learn anthem, โThis is for my girlsโ.
Reflecting on the importance of Let Girls Learn, Obama said late last year: โUltimately, for me, this issue isnโt just about politics or economicsโfor me, this is a moral issue. As Iโve traveled the world, I have met so many of these girls. Iโve seen firsthand that every single one of them has the spark of something extraordinary inside of them, and they are so hungry to realise their promise. They walk for hours each day to school, learning at rickety desks in bare concrete classrooms. They study for hours each night, holding tight to their hopes for the future, even in the face of heartbreaking oddsโฆAs a first lady, a mother, and a human being, I cannot walk away from these girls.โ

The grieving grandmother of Orlando shooting victim Luis Omar Ocasio-Capo received a touching tribute from fellow passengers as she flew to Orlando for his funeral.
Flight attendant Kelly Davis Karas said that the woman was, โunderstandably distraught, but met us with kindness and gentleness.โ
Karas and fellow attendant Melinda Sloop Winstead wanted to show their support for Ocasio-Capoโs grandmother, and decided to pass around paper for passengers to write messages of support.
โWhen we gathered them together to present them to her, we didnโt have just a sheet of paper covered in names, which is what I had envisioned,โ Karas said.

โInstead, we had page after page after page after page of long messages offering condolences, peace, love and support. There were even a couple of cash donations, and more than a few tears. As we deplaned, EVERY SINGLE PERSON STOPPED TO OFFER HER THEIR CONDOLENCES.
โSome just said they were sorry, some touched her hand, some hugged her, some cried with her. But every single person stopped to speak to her, and not a single person was impatient at the slower deplaning process.โ

If anyone tries to tell you fashion is not a wise investment you now have proof it is.
According to the new study conducted by Baghunter, the Chanel Medium Classic Flap handbag has escalated in worth by more than 70 percent over the last six years.
The iconic bag, which first hit fashionistaโs radars back in 1955, has seen an annual increase in value and the new research suggests that it will continue to rise, with another increase predicted later this year.
The study examined the historical value of the handbag, which retailed for US$255, by 2010, the style was valued at US$2,850 and by the end of 2015, it was worth US$4,900.
โItโs interesting to see how the value of Chanel bags has skyrocketed over the last six years, a period which coincides with the rise of ultra-luxury marketplaces for such items,โ Baghunter CEO Evelyn Fox said in a statement.
โWe feel that these marketplaces have played a significant role in making these bags available to a wide range of women, piquing interest in more people than ever before, and contributing to Chanel having the ability to increase the value of their bags so rapidly over such a short period of time.โ
Other designโs by the French fashion house including the Chanel Reissue 2.55 and the Chanel Boy Bag have also seen similar growth.

All three of our major political parties currently have female deputies. None have female leaders. It's time to reframe the way we think about female leaders
During my pregnancy, a dear friend of mine, who happens to be a late-middle-aged white male, asked me what kind I was having. A girl, I said.
โGood,โ he told me. โThis is going to be the womenโs century.โ
His words came back to me as my daughter, now 13 months, sat on my lap while we watched footage of Hillary Clinton claim the Democratic party nomination for the United States presidency.
It was a breach of the no-screen-time-before-two rule, but I figured the historic weight of the moment cancelled out any possible infant synapses damage.
I got a bit teary. I quoted Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and I said to her: Look, darling, girls can do anything!
She squawked in appreciation and flapped her limbs.
I hope that one day my baby will think it laughably quaint that we ever found it noteworthy for a woman to achieve high office.

And yet, it was hard to escape the feeling last week, as Clinton punched a big hole in one of the great glass ceilings, that she should have been more broadly celebrated for it.
The sad fact is that instead of lauding her tenacity and obvious intellectual brilliance, not to mention her considerable experience, much of the conversation about Clinton is focused on the fact that people just donโt seem to like her. Even, whisper it, Democrat-voting women, just donโt seem to warm to her.
It is amazing that someone as qualified, hard-working and bountifully gifted as Clinton should have to worry about being liked, as though she were the presenter of a morning television show, or a new girlfriend being brought home to meet the parents.
It is often said of (male) politicians that the public doesnโt have to like a leader, only respect him. In Clintonโs case the opposite seems true. Everyone respects her, how could you not? Her record speaks for itself. But people donโt like her, and that, apparently, is a big problem.
It tells us everything we need to know about the archetypes we fall back on to define โgood leadershipโ and how rigidly masculine they are.
History is scattered with strong charismatic male leaders. JFK. Charles de Gaulle. Gough Whitlam. President Barack Obama is ridiculously charming in a way that would be impossible for anyone to emulate. Even Donald Trump, to his supporters, fits this mould. He is a strong personality, magnetic to his voting public, however insane that seems to the rest of us.
History is scattered with strong, charismatic male leaders.
Then, you have your grandfatherly grumps โ your Winston Churchills and your John Howards. They are men voters didnโt necessarily like, but whom they respected and admired for their decisive leadership.
But there are really no equivalents when it comes to female political leaders.
There are few role models here or overseas. The women who have been most successful on the political stage โ Margaret Thatcher, Angela Merkel, Helen Clark โ lack charisma but are seen as highly conscientious, the girly-swots of the public arena.
In Australia, the girly-swot leader makes for a strong deputy. All three major political parties โ the Liberals, the Nationals and the ALP โ currently have a female deputy. Julie Bishop, Fiona Nash and Tanya Plibersek are all trusted, disciplined and hard-working second-in-commands; safe-hands.
Former Prime Minister Julia Gillard was popular and well-liked as deputy. As was later reported, she was the only one who managed to actually get anything done under the increasingly chaotic leadership of her Prime Minister Kevin Rudd.
But just look what happened when she moved up a rank. Voters didnโt just not like Gillard, they openly reviled her, at least in some quarters. The ability to work hard mattered little in the face of her personal approval ratings.
If this is to be the womanโs century, as my friend boldly predicted, we will have to find new models of female leadership โ in Australia and abroad โ that focus less on the likability of the leader, and more on her competence.

Despite deleting all evidence of their relationship from his social-media platforms, Calvin Harris was all smiles outside a gym on June 16 when questioned about his ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift.
The Scottish DJโs cheery disposition is in stark contrast to the 32-year-oldโs since-deleted Twitter post โItโs about to go down,โ with three ghoulish-looking emoticonsโthough that tweet could well have been in reference to the singer launching his latest music-video clip, โThis Is What We Came Forโ, with Rihanna which he is also heavily promoting on his feed.
Talking to the press before entering Los Angeles gym Heart and Hustle, Harris said, โItโs all good, sheโs doing her thing,โ when the subject of Swift was broached.
The split between the former music-industry power couple was thought to be amicable when Harris referenced the break-up in a June 2 tweet: โWhat remains is a huge amount of love and respect.โ
Reports to the contrary have since emerged, as Swift, 26, was first photographed kissing English actor Tom Hiddleston, 35, outside her home in Rhode Island. The pair were next seen boarding her private jet.
Sources told WHO Harris was not aware Taylor was dating Hiddleston, her Met Gala dance partner, until UK newspaper The Sun published the revealing photos on June 16.

After a tough fight with a degenerative neurological disease, 5-year-old Julianna Snow chose to die on her own terms. She passed away on Tuesday in her motherโs arms.
Her story has sparked debate after CNN wrote a series called โHeaven over hospitalโ on her decision.
Julianna was born with an incurable illness called Charcot-Marie-Tooth, which destroys neurons in the brain and spinal cord, causing her to lose control of her movement. Her cognition, however, was unaffected, so she could think and communicate like a normal 5-year-old.
At just 4-years-old, Julianna told her mum, Michelle Moon, that she wanted to go to โheavenโ over staying in hospital. The conversation went like this:
Julianna: Mom, do you want me to get a shot?
Mum: It depends. If you need the shotโฆ
J: Do you want me to go the hospital and get a shot?
M: You donโt want to go to the hospital, right, J?
J: I donโt like NT [naso-tracheal suction, the thing she hated the most from the hospital].
M: I know. So if you get sick again, you want to stay home?
J: I hate NT. I hate the hospital.
M: Right. So if you get sick again, you want to stay home. But you know that probably means you will go to heaven, right?
J: (nods)
M: And it probably means that you will go to heaven by yourself, and Mommy will join you later.
J: But I wonโt be alone.
M: Thatโs right. You will not be alone.
J: Do some people go to heaven soon?
M: Yes. We just donโt know when we go to heaven. Sometimes babies go to heaven. Sometimes really old people go to heaven.
J: Will Alex [her 6-year-old brother] go to heaven with me?
M: Probably not. Sometimes people go to heaven together at the same time, but most of the time, they go alone. Does that scare you?
J: No, heaven is good. But I donโt like dying.
M: I know. Thatโs the hard part. We donโt have to be afraid of dying because we believe we go to heaven. But itโs sad because I will miss you so much.
J: Donโt worry, I wonโt be alone.
M: I know. I love you.
J: Madly.
M: Yes, I love you madly. Iโm so lucky.
J: And Iโm so lucky.
M: Why?
J: Because you love me madly.
Juliannaโs mother has been writing a blog throughout Juliannaโs illness, and on Tuesday she broke the news of her passing away.
โOur sweet Julianna went to heaven today. I am stunned and heartbroken, but also thankful. I feel like the luckiest mom in the world, for God somehow entrusted me with this glorious child, and we got almost six years together. I wanted more time, of course, and thatโs where the sadness comes in. But she is free now.โ
She wrote that Julianna was a โbright lightโ and an โold and delightful soulโ, and that she hopes she will never be forgotten.

The creators of the popular true crime series Making A Murderer are teaming up with George Clooney to make a scripted TV series, called โAmericaโs Most Admired Lawbreakerโ.
The series will be based on a series of articles by Steven Brill that were published in the Huffington Post, detailing the story of how Johnson & Johnson made a powerful drug and promoted it illegally to children and the elderly. The well-loved pharmaceutical company covered up the side effects of this drug and profited from tricking people over 20 years.
Some of the people affected by the side effects included a devastating case of a little boy with autism who grew 46DD breasts. While the company knew the drug had many cases of these side effects, they did not promote this and the family sued the company and were awarded $2.5 million.
The project is the first one to come under George Clooney and Grant Heslovโs deal with Sonar Entertainment. Making a Murderer creators Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos are set to adapt and direct the series.
There is not yet information about when it will be released, and thereโs no network attached as yet.

Once the most photographed child in the world, these days Katie Holmes manages to keep her 10-year-old daughter mostly out of the spotlight.
However she just gave us a rare look at her not-so-little girl in a snap posted on her Instagram account.
The photo shows the mother-daughter duo on the set of her new mini-series, The Kennedys: After Camelot which she stars as Jackie Kennedy and is currently filming in Toronto, Canada.

Therapy dogs are being sent out across the United States to help comfort survivors of the Orlando shooting and their families and friends as they grieve.
The dogs, mostly golden retrievers, are trained to provide empathy, and allow people to have an unspoken connection that they may not get with humans.
Their trainers responded quickly, within hours of the events of the shooting, to send the dogs to many states, including Iowa, Illinois, Texas, Tennessee and Wisconsin, attending vigils in the areas.
The dogs learn as many as 25 commands, such as lying next to people and letting them rest their hands on them.
Tim Hetzner, President of the Lutheran Church Charities, who sent 11 dogs to Orlando following the attacks, has said to The Chicago Tribune that the dogs offer a lot of support.
โThey are good listeners, your conversation is confidential, they donโt take notesโฆ and they show unconditional love.โ
Dogs really are manโs best friend!

Gwyneth Paltrow had opened up the doors to her positively dreamy NYC apartment which she is selling as her family is not โsolidly based in LAโ.
Sharing the look at the Pintrest-perfect home via her Goop website, it is described as a โpale, dreamy cloudโ that โ floats above the cobblestone streetsโ.
โThe quiet attention to the well-made and hand-perfected allows for a lightnessโnot just in palette and texture, but in spirit.โ
Renowned Designer Robin Standefer, who worked on the apartment with the star, said, โGwyneth saw how we couldโฆ channel this ethereal palette: light delicate whites, palest lavenders, grays, silvers, embroidery details.โ
โItโs the classical marble Chesneyโs fireplace paired with a Venini light fixture, the hand-painted wallpaper in one room with the hand-embroidered wallpaper in the next, itโs paper and fabrics and flowers. We worked carefully together on the palette and the textures to create the sense of refinement.โ
The house, plays on the modern and the antique, with features including an antique door turned into a swing with silk cushions where Gwyn would sit and relax with her kids, Apple and Moses.
The stunning kitchen, describes by Standefer as โsensualโ, feauture white tiles and a โintense & strongโ marble counter. (All we can think when we look at this is how hard it would be to keep cleanโฆ)
No word on what the prince tag is yet, but how do you put a price tag on a dreamy cloudโฆ
Head to Goop to see the apartment in all itโs glory!

An MP in the UK has died due to a shooting attack on the streets of Birstall, West Yorkshire.
Jo Cox, the Labour MP for Batley and Spen, was shot three times (including once in the head) and repeatedly stabbed by a man, who was arrested soon after the assault. He also stabbed a 77-year-old man who tried to intervene on the attack.
The assailant, Tommy Mair, was a 52-year-old former psychiatric patient, and was shouting โBritain First!โ, the slogan of groups who oppose Britain staying part of the European Union. Jo Cox was a public supporter of the โRemainโ campaign, which aimed to keep the UK as part of the European Union. She was on her way to hold her political surgery before the attack occurred.
Jo Coxโs husband, Brendan Cox, who she had two children with, has urged the public to unite against the โhate that killed herโ, releasing this statement:
โToday is the beginning of a new chapter in our lives. More difficult, more painful, less joyful, less full of love. I and Joโs friends and family are going to work every moment of our lives to love and nurture our kids and to fight against the hate that killed Jo.
โJo believed in a better world and she fought for it every day of her life with an energy, and a zest for life that would exhaust most people. She would have wanted two things above all else to happen now, one that our precious children are bathed in love and two, that we all unite to fight against the hatred that killed her.
โHate doesnโt have a creed, race or religion, it is poisonous.โ
He posted a photo of her by the Thames as a tribute to her memory on his Twitter account.
The Labour leader, Jeremy Corbyn, also released a statement after her death.
โIn the coming days, there will be questions to answer about how and why she died. But for now all our thoughts are with Joโs husband Brendan and their two young children. They will grow up without their mum, but can be immensely proud of what she did, what she achieved and what she stood for.โ
Jo Cox died doing her job, and fighting for what she believed in. Our thoughts are with her family at this terrible time.

A mother has posted pictures of her son standing on the โexact sameโ spot where toddler Lane Graves was dragged away and killed by an alligator earlier this week.
Jennifer Venditti shared the photos on Facebook, which show her three-year-old son, Channing, playing in the same Seven Seas Lagoon at the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa in Orlando just one hour before the fateful event.
โI took these pics at the exact spot this happened betw 8 & 830, the incident happened at 9,โ she wrtes. โHelicopters flew overhead til 1 am and were back around dawn.โ
She also leapt to the defence of the parents of the toddler, who have been criticised for allowing their son in the water where there are โno swimmingโ signs.
โIโve already seen posts criticising the parents. I can assure you alligators were not on my mind at all when Channing was in the water,โ she continued.
โItโs a tiny beach, surrounded by pools, water slides, a restaurant and a fire pit. I canโt conceive that an alligator would be in such a busy, small space.โ
Parents Matt and Melissa Graves watched in terror as the alligator โ believed to be between 4ft and 7ft long โ grabbed their son and drag him into the lagoon near the five-star hotel.
Despite their best efforts they were unable to pull him from the alligatorโs grasp and it dragged the little boy under water.
His body was found, โin tactโ after more than 15 hours of searching.
โWe recovered the remains of the two-year-old from the water and that body has been turned over to the Orange County Medical Examinerโs Office for an autopsy,โ said Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings during a press conference.
โAutopsy has to confirm, but thereโs likely no question in my mind that the child was drowned by the alligator,โ he continued. โThe child was found within the immediate area of where he was last seen. It took some time to go through, but our divers were able to locate the body using sonar equipment.โ
โThe family says they do appreciate all of the prayers that have gone forward to allow those of us who are working on the professional side to do our jobs to recover their son,โ added Sheriff Demings.

When 90s supermodel Stephanie Seymour made comments in a recent Vanity Fair article about the โnew genโ of social media supermodels it didnโt sit well with Kendall Jenner.
โThey are completely different than we were,โ Seymour said. โSupermodels are sort of the thing of the past. They deserve their own title. [Kendall and Gigi] are beautiful girls, and I support all of them, but they need their own title: โBitches of the moment! That would be a good title for them.โ
Well Kendall Jenner decided to take the high road over the comments and took to her website to share her musings on the topic.
โIโve seen the debate over Gigi and I not being โreal supermodelsโโand I definitely have an opinion.โ Jenner wrote on her website. โIf youโre going to tell us not to be in โyour moment,โ then donโt be in mine! This moment is all about being supportiveโNOT cyberbullying. But, if you choose to be a cyberbully, Iโm going to stick up for myself.โ
โNo one is trying to steal Stephanie Seymourโs thing, or trying to be her,โ she continued. โI actually looked up to her. She has a daughter! I guarantee you that she didnโt imagine someone so publicly shaming her daughter when she made those comments about us being โbitches of the moment.โโ
โBeing a โsupermodelโ is a relative term,โ she explained. โIf people want to call Gigi and I supermodels now, it doesnโt take anything away from supermodels of the past. Obviously, I have so much respect for these women, but right now, weโre the models of this time. Significant? Maybe. Hardworking? For sure.โ
โThere are other supermodels who give me tips and build up my confidence, sending me notes after a spread comes out, saying, โYouโre killing it.โ Thatโs the classy way to behave and I fully intend on being a positive influence on anyone younger than me, my entire life.โ
We need women supporting other women, no tearing each other down, way to go Kendall!

Chrissy Teigen is a model, actress and InStyleโs February 2016 cover girl, but all above all that sheโs a mother, and a great one at that.
If what she revealed to an audience member at a panel event for her latest TV project, โLip Sync Battleโ is anything to go by, sheโs planning on using her mothering skills to teach her newborn daughter Luna a vital tool in life.
โAn important thing Iโll try and teach [Luna] isโฆno matter what, you will find that job, you will find that point in life where people are gonna want you to be exactly the way you are and nothing else, she said.
โI think that was a big thing for me to learn because in the modelling world, you go about your days pretending to be so sexy and poised and together and it was interesting for me to learn that as you go on and meetโฆdifferent groups of peopleโฆand to be with these people that you love, that they appreciate you for having this personality which may be quirky or weird or odd to you.

An aspiring actress spends her days imitating the mythical yowie in a caravan park for cash. Over time โ and as her relationship with both her enigmatic boss, and the sweet manager of the holiday park develop in different directions โ her perception of the creature slowly changes.
This is the premise of Eaglehawk, the whimsical, whitty, completely charming debut short film from Dollhouse, the all-female production company founded by actors Rose Byrne and Krew Boylan, publicist Jessica Carrera and filmmakers Gracie Otto and Shannon Murphy in 2015.
The idea was to found a group that prioritised the telling, producing and making of female stories, and with Eaglehawk Dollhouse has made an admirable debut: one that is seen through the eyes of a vibrant, dynamic female character Eve (rising star Australian actress Tilda Cobham-Hervey) and produced by an almost all-female production crew.
Tilda Cobham-Hervey in Eaglehawk
โThose women that run [Dollhouse] are so amazing,โ Cobham-Hervey says. โTheir energy, their passion, the things they believe inโฆ It was just so nice to be a part of that.โ
Ahead of the filmโs premiere at the Sydney Film Festival this weekend, we caught up with Eaglehawkโs producer Jessica Carrera.
MARIE CLAIRE: What attracted you to the story? JESSICA CARRERA:Eaglehawk was adapted from a short story by American writer Laura Van Den Berg. Itโs a project [director] Shannon Murphy has been ruminating with for some time. Eveโs struggle as a creative artist is at the core of her story. It felt like a fitting piece of work for Dollhouse, one that aligned so well with our ethos to create work about women, for women.
Ryan Corr and Tilda Cobham-Hervey
MC: The creative team is almost all-female. How important is this to Dollhouse? JC: Itโs paramount. There are so many creative female forces in our industry, weโd like to bring as many of them together in the work we create. For Eaglehawk we had Shannon Murphy (Director) Marisa Nather (screenwriter) Nicole Coventry (co- producer) Megan Washington (composer) Amelia Ford (editor) Alice Babidge and Sophie Fletcher (production designer and costume) , Krew Boylan (actress, Executive Producer) to name a few. That being said, we also had a brilliant mix of males in our production team. John Brawley our DOP is incredibly talented and mentors many women behind the camera. Robin Hearfield, is a multi disciplinary artist and we were lucky to have his eye capture our stills and behind the scenes images.
MC: The assembled crew is fantastic: what was the atmosphere like on set? JC: Considering the impractically of our shoot dates- right up to Christmas Eve, in bushfire season, in high forty degree heat, our crew were not only brilliant, but dedicated! We all stayed on location in Sutton, right near Canberra. It was the perfect place. It felt timeless. We wanted everyone immersed in the filmโs world. Shooting on location always creates such a lovely collegiate environment. We all ate in the mess hall for breakfast and dinner, which felt very school camp.
MC: Last year was a big year for discussions about the treatment of women in Hollywood. Do you think 2016 is proving to be a year of big change? What more needs to be done? JC: I think the discussion reached a crescendo last year, the message was loud and clear: the industry needs to actively support and encourage gender parity in front of and behind the camera. At a local level, so many great initiatives have been implemented through funding bodies like Screen Australia and Screen NSW in the past twelve months. In addition, groups like Femme Fatales and Screen Vixens are creating a strong alliance and support networks for women in film. Men are an equally important part of the equation for shifting perceptions and facilitating opportunity. We formed Dollhouse so we had a platform to actively collaborate with our peers and find stories that have complex female protagonists.
MC: Tilda Cobham-Hervey and Ryan Corr star in the short, and theyโre two of the most exciting young actors in Australia right now. What did you love about them in the casting process? What do they bring to the table? JC: We were so excited to work with such talented actors. Wayne, Tilda and Ryan were all attached to the project from the beginning. Each brought a nuanced performance to the piece. It was great to watch the trust they instilled in Shannon and her vision. Tilda is luminous onscreen, she is such an interesting young actress who we loved from her breakout role in 52 Tuesdays. She is the perfect โ Eveโ.
MC: Whatโs next for Dollhouse? What are you working on at the moment? JC: Two feature films, one we are planning to shoot early 2017 written by Krew Boylan and a number of concepts in development. Everything in the film/ TV world takes time and patience.
Eaglehawk screens on June 18 and 19 at the Sydney Film Festival. To purchase tickets click here.

In May this year, Australian backpacker Rye Hunt went missing in Brazil. His body was found earlier this month, after it washed up on a beach in Marica, Rio Di Janeiro. Rye Huntโs sister, Romany Brodribb, has since named her newborn baby Edward James Rye after his uncle, who heโll never get to meet.

Romany took to social media over the weekend to remember her brother. She said: โWhatโs on my mind?โฆ
โI donโt think Iโve begun to process the enormity of what life without my baby brother will be like.
โBut I know that he was loved- by so many of us. And I know he would want his life to be celebrated.โ
Ryeโs girlfriend, Bonnie Cuthbert has also spoken out on social media in memory of her brother. She said: โMy heart and whole body is in agony, every second of every day knowing that I canโt wake up next to your cheesy grin and big squeezes anymore.โ

Anne Hathaway has been juggling a pretty impressive number of roles of late: Hollywood power player, Oscar-winner, new mum and now, UN Women Goodwill Ambassador.
UN Women is assembling โ Avengers style โ a pretty impressive slate of representatives, with Hathaway joining Nicole Kidman and Emma Watson as an ambassador championing womensโ rights.
Hathawayโs role will be to be an advocate for the rights of mothers around the world, particularly in undeveloped nations. Itโs a particularly timely role for Hathaway, who became a mother for the first time to a baby boy in April. One of her key roles, according to UN Womenโs Executive Director Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, will be to focus on workplace gender inequality and fighting the onslaught of what she calls the โmotherhood penaltyโ, or the price paid by women in the workforce.
โI feel honoured and inspired by this opportunity to aid in advancing gender equality,โ Hathaway said in a press release. โSignificant progress has already been made but it is time that we collectively intensify our efforts and ensure that true equality is finally realized.โ

Jason Ball, who is standing as the Greens candidate in the inner-Melbourne seat of Higgins, has penned a powerful response after the word โFagโ was spray painted across a window featuring his campaign posters. Taking to Facebook, Ball, explained his decision to share a shot of the the slur, writing โI post this picture not to give the haters oxygen but to send a message to young LGBTI people that I have their back. To let them know I wonโt be passive or silent in the face of bigotry.โ
Ball, who is a mental health sector worker and advocate for LGBTI equality, went on to touch on the response to the heartbreaking attack on the Pulse nightclub in Florida over the saying:
โThis week, media commentators who have previously vilified us, leapt on the unspeakable atrocities in Orlando and used our grief as a battering ram to prosecute their own agenda against another minority. Then they wring their hands and offer us their โprayers and sympathyโ whilst conveniently ignoring the fact that acts of hate and violence are the logical conclusion to a public โdebateโ that maintains we are abnormal and not worthy of the same rights and respect as our fellow citizens.โ

The worldโs greatest, most perfect film franchise just got that little bit better. Fast & Furious 8, the, ahem, eighth installment of everyoneโs favourite rollicking fast-car romp, just added Dame Helen Mirren to its cast list.
โIโve always rather loved driving. I said, โIโll be in it, but only if Iโm allowed to drive if I do drive in it.โโ Mirren told an American magazine.
This is the fulfillment of a lifelong โ or at least since the first film roared onto the big screen in 2001 โ dream for Mirren, who has spoken in the past about her โgreat ambitionโ to join the series, which also stars Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Dwayne โThe Rockโ Johnson and Gal Gadot.
โI so want to be a mad driver in a Fast and Furious movie,โ she has said. โMy claim to fame is I always do my own driving. . . . I keep putting it out there, and they never ask me.โ
Sheโs also been very vocal in the past about her love of Diesel, the franchiseโs star, producer and, of course, emotional heart. โIโm a huge fan of Vin Diesel,โ she has said. โIt came from me watching him make a speech once at some ceremony. He was just so smart and so funny and so cool. And I just sort of fell a little bit in love with him right there and then.โ
And it is true that Mirren does her own vehicle stunts: you can see her outstanding performances behind the wheel in hilarious over-the-hill action film Red and also in, ahem, The Queen, where she drives a very big Land Rover through the wilds of rural Scotland.
Sheโs also one of the most popular celebrities to ever appear in Top Gearโs much-loved โStar in a Reasonably Priced Carโ series, which you can revisit below.
Helen Mirren in Red 2
Hereโs the thing: we here in the marie claire office truly, madly, deeply and it must be said unashamedly love the Fast & Furious series in all its silly, spine-tingly, illegal drag-racing glory.
We already have our dream storyline in mind, one that sees Mirren play the brutal, boss lady matriarch of the Shaw family, overseeing the vengeance that her sons (played brilliantly by Jason Statham and Luke Evans) will wrought upon Dominic Toretto and his band of petrolheads.
And the news that Helen Mirren brings the films tally of Oscar winning castmembers up to a nice, even two (Charlize Theron has also signed on to play a villain) is cause for celebration. Perhaps 2018 will be the year that Vin Dieselโs prediction that Fast & Furious will win a Best Picture Oscar โ โunless the Oscars donโt want to be relevant everโ โ will come true.

A well-known British politician and broadcaster has been exposed as paedophile โ who also owned a villa in the resort which Madeleine McCann went missing.
Sir Clement Freud โ grandson of Sigmund Freud, and former father-in-law to Elisabeth Murdoch โ was identified as a paedophile in a documentary in the UK this week.
Freud sexually abused girls as young as 10 for decades, according to the ITV documentary. His widow, Lady Freud, has apologised to his victims, saying she is โshocked, deeply saddened and profoundly sorryโ for what her husband of 58 years did to them, according to The Telegraph.
Detectives investigating the disappearance of McCann, who was three when she went missing from the Praia da Luz resort in Portugal in 2007, have been alerted to the fact that Freud had a villa there.

To the McCannsโ horror, Freud befriended them in the wake of the disappearance, which made headlines around the world. The politician entertained the McCanns at his house and kept in contact by phone and email.
In her book, Madeleine, Kate McCann describes how Freud contacted the family two month after their daughter went missing and invited them to dinner.
Vicky Hayes, who was groomed by Freud for years before he raped her as a teenager, says that she read Kate McCannโs book and was โimmediately upset and anxiousโ that Freud had reached out to the McCann family.
โIt really jarred with me, left me feeling very uneasy.โ

Pictures of two-year-old Lane Graves who tragically drowned after he was taken by an alligator have emerged.
Orange County Sheriff Jerry confirmed the body was recovered around 3.30pm from the man-made Seven Seas Lagoon near Disneyโs Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.
Parents Matt and Melissa Graves, from Nebraska, were on holiday in Orlando with their children.
The alligator dragged the boy into the lake on Tuesday night while he was playing on the waters edge of a โno swimmingโ area. After more than 15 hours of searching, his body was recovered โin tactโ.

Witnesses described the alligator as being between 1.2 and 2.1 metres long.
During the search it was reported that five alligators were captured and euthanised.
Orlando Sheriff Demings said โthis type of thingโ had never happened before.
Disney has closed all resort beaches until further notice.

Hollywood descended up LAโs iconic Chateau Marmont to attend Max Maraโs โFace of the Future Awardโ cocktail party ahead of the Women in Film Awards. The eveningโs honouree was Game of Thrones star Natalie Dormer. โIโm a good example of how one should keep going โ itโs a marathon, not a sprint,โ said the 34-year-old English actress at the event. โWhatever industry you want to be in, be in it for the long haul.โ Speaking of the role that made her a household name, she added: โโI donโt think I would have been ready for it 10 years ago. I spent most of my twenties just working out who I am as a woman. So, now in my early thirties, I feel fully comfortable in my skin as an artist and individual.โ

Oscar Pistorius has removed his prosthetic legs during his sentence hearing at the Gauteng high court in Pretoria, South Africa.
The Paralympic and Olympic athleteโs defence team reportedly wanted to show the court that Pistorius was not a โstrong, ambitious man winning gold medalsโ.
โI donโt want to overplay vulnerabilityโฆ I donโt want to overplay disabilityโฆ It doesnโt mean because heโs vulnerable that he can do what he likes. But please letโs understand โฆ who is this man that you must sentence?โ Roux said.

Pistorius is in court over the death of his partner Reeva Steenkemp, who was shot on Valentineโs Day 2013.
The former Paralympian, who was born without fibulas, was initially found guilty of manslaughter. However, this was upgraded to murder on appeal, and he is in court to be sentenced.
He has so far served 10 months in prison.
In court yesterday, Pistorious had tears streaming down his face as his lawyers addressed the room.
โIt was not the man winning gold medals that must be judged โฆ It was a 1.5-metre person, standing on his stumps, three oโclock in the morning when it was dark.โ
But Pistorious lawyersโ attempts to play up his vulnerabilities came as the judge agreed to Reeva Steenkampโs familyโs request to release photos of her dead body to the public.
The graphic photos, which were previously withheld in order to โprotect the integrity of the deceasedโ, have since gone viral, showing up on news outlets across the globe.
They show Steenkampโs fatal wounds and the shocking affect the โexpanding bulletsโ had on her body.
โI want the world to see the photos of the wounds inflicted on her. To know my daughterโs pain,โ said her father Barry Steenkamp in his testimony.
โIsnโt it time we now finally let the world see what this accused did with four black talon rounds through a door?โ Chief Prosecutor, Gerrie Nel, told the court.

โThey have to bear the consequences โฆ We think itโs time that people should see what those bullets did; what the accused did.โ
Prosecutors are calling for Pistorius to receive a 15-year jail sentence which is the minimum sentence for murder in South Africa.
Judge Thokozile Masipa has announced she will hand down the sentence on July 6.

In what has got to be one of the most tired of all the celebrity rumour-mill stories, this week Jennifer Aniston was once again forced to deny that she is pregnant.
InTouch magazine in the US posted photos of the 47-year-old star enjoying a relaxing holiday with husband Justin Theroux and because the star was looking โ shock horror โ not a size 0, so she naturally must be pregnant, right?
โIt is just another total fabrication,โ her rep tells Us Weekly. โJennifer is not pregnant.โ
We can only assume, Jenโs rep now has that standard response permanently saved and ready to issue out in a moments notice.
โShe is not pregnant. Shame on InTouch for making up the whole story, but this is not the first time they have done so. What you see is her having just enjoyed a delicious big lunch and her feeling safe on private property,โ her rep added to Entertainment Tonight.
The former Friends star โ who married Theroux in 2015 โ has faced constant speculation about whether or not sheโll have kids dating all the way back to when she was married to Brad Pitt.
โThis is continually said about me: that I was so career-driven and focused on myself; that I donโt want to be a mother, and how selfish that is,โ she told Allure in January 2015.
โI donโt like [the pressure] that people put on me, on women โ that youโve failed yourself as a female because you havenโt procreated,โ she said. โI donโt think itโs fair. You may not have a child come out of your vagina, but that doesnโt mean you arenโt mothering โ dogs, friends, friendsโ children.โ
Let the woman eat lunch and live her life, if one day she does have a baby, then great. And if she doesnโt, well thatโs great too.
While weโre on the topic, stop asking any woman โ famous or not โ if theyโre pregnant or planning to be, you donโt know what their situation is and what they are going through.
