An Australian woman who was just metres from where a truck ploughed into a crowded Christmas market in Kurfรผrstendamm, Berlin has described the horror and devastation that she witnessed.
Like so many others who were there, Trisha OโNeill was at the market with friends celebrating being on holidays, having just finished her last day of German clasess for the year.
โWe sat just behind the stall having a gluhwein and then all of a sudden there was a big boom and the people in front me jumped on top of me,โ Ms OโNeill tells ABC.
โI just saw this huge black truck speeding through the markets crushing so many people and then all the lights went out and everything was destroyed.
โI could hear screaming and then we all froze. Then suddenly people started to move and lift all the wreckage off people, trying to help whoever was there.โ
Ms OโNeill says they waited there while they figured out what they should to, before deciding to try and find somewhere safe.
โPeople, including children and older people, werenโt moving โ people were crying and I just burst into tears,โ she added.
โI never thought I would see something like this in my life. Iโm shaking and scared. It all just happened so fast.โ
So far nine people have been confirmed dead and at least fifty injured.
Reports suggest it was a deliberate attack however it is yet to be confirmed as terrorist related.
The suspected driver has been detained by police and a passenger who was in the truck was found dead at the scene.
Gone are the days where โred and green should not be seenโ and the Duchess of Cambridge proved exactly why when she stepped out in a green and red print dress for a Christmas charity event in London.
Kate looked gorgeous in the festive frock by Vanessa Seward which, FYI, is currently on sale on Net-A-Porter for $521, the perfect dress for Christmas day perhaps?
The Duchess took the festive theme one step further by accessorised her look with a black belt โ which is giving us major Santa vibes, as well as a pair of gold hoop earrings and her trusty black pumps.
Kate was joined by Prince William and Prince Harry at the event, which was hosted by the charity they set up, Heads Together, which aims to fight the stigma around mental health.
The event marks the royal trioโs last official engagement of 2016.
Candice Swnaepoel is one of the latest stars to speak out about breastfeeding in the hopes of normalising it in public.
The 28-year-old model, who welcomed son Anaca in October, took to Instagram to share a beautiful moment with her son, but at the same time slammed societies double standards when it comes to breastfeeding in public.
RELATED: 8 Celebrities Who Arenโt afraid to breastfeed in public
โMany women today are shamed for breastfeeding in public, or even kicked out of public places for feeding their children.,โ she wrote.
โI have been made to feel the need to cover up and somewhat shy to feed my baby in public places but strangely feel nothing for the topless editorials Iโve done in the name of art..?
โThe world has been desensitized to the sexualization of the breast and to violence on tvโฆwhy should it be different when it comes to breastfeeding? -Breastfeeding is not sexual itโs natural- Those who feel it is wrong to feed your child in public need to get educated on the benefits breastfeeding has on mother and child and intern on society as a whole. ๐ช๐ผ๐ ๐ซ๐ญ #mothernatureโ.
Margot Robbie reportedly tied the knot with longtime love Tom Ackerley over the weekend.
The pair are believed to have exchanged vows in a private ceremony in front of their nearest and dearest at Harvest in Newrybar in the Byron Bay hinterland according to The Daily Telegraph.
According to the UKโs Telegraph, Margot was given away by her mother, Sarie Kessler, and her sister, Anya Robbie, served as maid of honour.
The Suicide Squad starโs rep is yet to comment.

While the couple never officially announced they were engaged, the 26-year-old actress sparked rumours when she stepped out at The Legend of Tarzan premiere while wearing a massive, pink, cushion-cut, halo diamond ring on that finger.
The couple met in 2013 on the set of Suite Franรงaise where Tom worked as an assistant director.
โI was the ultimate single gal. The idea of relationships made me want to vomit,โ she said. โAnd then this crept up on me,โ she told US Vogue back in May.
โWe were friends for so long,โ she said. โI was always in love with him, but I thought, โOh, he would never love me back. Donโt make it weird, Margot. Donโt be stupid and tell him that you like him.โ And then it happened, and I was like, โOf course weโre together. This makes so much sense, the way nothing has ever made sense before.'โ
Sometimes a solution is so simple, you wonder why no one else has thought of it. Take a new Illinois law which will see hairdressers trained to spot signs of domestic violence.
Itโs a law that makes perfect sense; after all, the relationship between a woman and her hairdresser is uniquely intimate.
From this January, an amendment to Illinoisโs Barber, Cosmetology, Hair Braiding and Nail Technology Act of 1985 will require salon workers to spend one hour of training every two years to recognise signs of abuse. Hairdressers will also be given resources to which they can refer clients for help, according to The New York Times.
โI think itโs great,โ says Domestic Violence NSW CEO Moo Baulch. โWe all say things to our hairdressers that you wouldnโt say to anyone else.โ
Although Baulch isnโt aware of any similar laws or programs involving hairdressers in Australia, she says โthings are starting to move in that directionโ. She points to a checklist thatโs now given to vets to help them differentiate between accidental pet injuries and abuse.
This is because thereโs a strong chance that if a pet is being abused then there may be domestic violence in the home, too. (Studies have found that in up to 70 per cent of domestic violence cases, there is also pet violence.) Plus, vets often have access to peopleโs homes and properties and so can spot signs of violence.
Baluch says that some employers, like Commonwealth Bank, are also training their staff to spot signs of abuse, including financial abuse.
Which begs the question: if vets, hairdressers and bank staff can be educated on how to to spot domestic violence, why canโt we all?
Imagine the impact on domestic violence rates if every manager in the country could spot the signs their employee was in a violent relationship โ if management training included swotting up on the signs of abuse (which could involve frequent absences from work, โaccidentsโ during pregnancy), as well as learning how to fill out KPIs.
At a time when domestic violence rates are rising (up seven per cent this year), itโs time we all educated ourselves on how to help.

The whole New Year, New You idea is very tempting โ particularly given that by December, weโre all strung out at work, staying up late, drinking too much champagne and getting sunburnt at the beach. Circumstances that tend to show themselves all too clearly on our skin.
But make it your mission to follow the below beauty rules and your skin, hair and nails will thank you for it. Hereโs to a more beautiful 2018 *champagne clink*
1. Thou shalt double cleanse
We all know weโre meant to, but how many of us actually do? (cue tumbleweed). โThe first cleanse removes the surface make-up, pollution, dirt, oil and grime from the skin allowing the second cleanse to really target the condition of the skin and allow for a deeper, more thorough cleanse,โ says Dermalogica Corporate Training Manager Dennille Ludenau. โWe recommend performing a double cleanse morning and night.โ
2. Thou shalt start dry body brushing
Miranda Kerr does it, and therefore you should too (her goat milk detoxesโฆ not so much). Dry body brushing exfoliates dead skin cells and encourages cell renewal for smoother skin all over, plus it assists circulation. You can do it daily, but weโre starting small and aiming for three days a week *baby steps*
3. Thou shalt commit to weekly at-home face and hair masks.
Set aside time on a Sunday night for a mini pamper sesh and reap the benefits. The best beauty cabinets are stocked with a range of masks for all skincare situations โ think hydrating for dry patches, detoxifying for congestion and exfoliating for radiance. As for hair: if you hate standing in the shower waiting for your treatment to work its magic, try the Percy & Reed Perfectly Perfecting Wonder Overnight Recovery. Itโs a sleep-in version that you can comb through while you Netflix and chill.
4. Thou shalt not skimp on eye cream
The delicate eye area shows the first signs of ageing, and prevention is a zillion times better than a cure. Invest in an eye cream or gel appropriate for your skin type and start applying religiously each evening.
5. Thou shalt not leave thy house without SPF
โWe should always apply and reapply SPF to protect our skin from the damaging effects of UV, which causes premature ageing in the form of lines, wrinkles and pigmentation,โ says Dermalogica Corporate Training Manager Dennille Ludenau. โNo one wants to age faster than they have to!โ See also: skin cancer.
6. Thy make-up brushes shall always be clean
โMake up brushes can harbour all types of bacteria, and this can in turn be transferred to your make-up!โ says Laura Mercier head of artistry Anne Salem. โI recommend a weekly clean of brushes, and treat the natural bristled brushes as you would your hair, delicately. Wash synthetic brushes daily, as cream products can cake up and make the brushes stiff.โ Salem also cautions against sharing make-up brushes.
7. Thou shalt treat thyself
To regular facials. The experts recommend monthly, but if the budget doesnโt stretch that far, try to factor in seasonal appointments to ease your skin into changing temperatures.
8. Thou shalt refrain from sleeping with thy make-up on
The skin repairs itself most effectively at night โ but it canโt do its job properly if itโs not squeaky clean. โThis can lead to the skin looking dull, more congested, dehydrated and can aid in accelerated premature ageing,โ says Salem. The solution for those nights when you simply cannot be bothered? Stash make-up wipes in your bedside table drawer so thereโs no excuse not to wipe the day away.
9. Thou shalt get enough sleep
Eight hours. Every night. Itโs worth it.
10. Rethink thy routine
Start the year afresh by doing a stock take of all your products and binning any that are past their use-by, you never use or just donโt work. Then hit the shops: investing in products that are right for your skin type is the best way to ensure you see through 2018 with a clear complexion.
Napoleon Perdis has long been a household name, but now thereโs another Perdis on the rise โ his 16-year-old daughter, Lianna.
After launching her own make-up collection, Total Bae, with her father in May, rising star Liana has made her modeling debut for Greek designer Dimitris Petrou in Athens.
She was chosen to close the show for the designer, with her parents watching on from the front row.
Itโs been a massive year for Lianna, who signed with CHIC Management in October after appearing on the cover of the July issue of Girlfriend magazine.
โIt was so surreal and a tad nerve wrecking. But something Iโve been dreaming of, since I was five, when I first โwalkedโ in my mumโs heels,โ Lianna said of the show in a statement.
If the past six months are any indication, this is only the beginning.
Sure, we know all about Gigi and Bella Hadid, the model sisters who have officially taken the fashion world by storm, and weโve all heard about their mum, former model and Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Yolanda Foster.
But have you met their dad?
Introducing real estate tycoon Mohammed Hadid, who has an estimated net worth of $AU274 million (according to celebritynetworth.com) amassed his fortune building luxury hotels and homes โ including the one where he now resides with financรฉe Shiva Safai which has just hit the market for a reported $116.
Hadid built the incredible estate however he actually sold it to the current owners in 2010 for $68 million, and continued to lease it after the sale as the new owners never moved in.
The chateau-style home, named Le Belvedere, sits on 2.2 acres in the exclusive neighbourhood โ with the house itself covering more than 40,000 square feet.
The house features 10 bedrooms, 15 bathrooms, music room, ballroom that seats more than 200, formal outdoor bath, Moroccan-themed room for entertaining, Turkish hammam, 5000-bottle wine cellar โ complete with its own dining room โ screening room, 70-foot infinity pool over looking the city, pizza oven and fireplace, swan pond, eight rose gardensโฆ Need we go on?
This house is truly something else.
Itโs hard to imagine life before Google โ especially in the midst of a skin, hair or make-up related emergency.
Be it a broken powder blush, a smokey eye gone wrong or a skin situation that just will not sort itself out, Google is where we turn when we need a beauty solution, stat (FYI โ youโll usually find the answers on this very site, too).
Google has shared with us the top five most searched beauty how-toโs of 2016 โ and weโve got all the answers. Read and learn.
1. How to Braid Hair
Learning to braid is one of those life skills that stays with you forever, and once you have the basic French braid downpat youโve opened a whole new world of styling opportunities. Braids are versatile and once mastered can take you anywhere from the gym to the beach to red carpet (hey, a girl can dream).
Start with three strands of hair in lieu of a plait and after your first two crossovers, start adding more hair to your sections each time you add to the braid until your whole head is involved (or just the sections you want braided). Master your hand positioning and voila! Youโre an expert.
2. How to get rid of blackheads
Blackheads occur when a build-up of dead skin cells and oil blocks your pores and turns black upon contact with the air. If your skin isnโt super-sensitive, cleansers or scrubs containing salicylic acid or AHAs are good choices, or book in for regular extraction facials if youโre in need of professional help. To minimise the appearance of pores, try the Benefit Pore-fessional Face Primer, $53.
3. How to clean your makeup brushes
When was the last time you washed your make-up brushes? Brushes are breeding grounds for bacteria and can accumulate dirt, oil and make-up residue, so itโs important for your skin that you clean them regularly.
โBrushes are like hair, so a delicate shampoo, or soap for washing is fine,โ suggests Laura Mercier head of artistry Anne Salem. โLay your brushes flat to dry after reshaping them once rinsed โ laying them flat means the water doesnโt run into the neck where the brush is bound, and rot the glue.โ
4. How to remove acrylic nails
Soak cotton wool balls in nail polish remover and place them on each fingernail, before securing with strips of aluminium foil. Leave on for half an hour, then you should be able to easily remove the acrylics. Gently file away any residue.
5. How to grow your hair fast
Some women are blessed with lush, long locks and others, sadly, are not. If you spend your time envying Rapunzel-type tresses, there are a few things you can do: invest in a good quality shampoo and put down the hot tools to reduce damage, and load up on hair-loving ingredients like omega-3s (found in eggs and salmon), zinc (oysters) and selenium (nuts).

The city of Fukushima on the eastern coast of Japan is still be ringed by an exclusion zone more than five years since the earthquake and tsunami that triggered a devastating nuclear disaster in March, 2011.
But that hasnโt stopped countless parents crossing barriers to search tirelessly for their missing children, as a new documentary on the ABC has investigated.
Naomi Hiratsuka is one of these mothers. She spent months searching through the rubble and debris left behind after the devastating earthquake and tsunami for her 12-year-old daughter Koharu.
Finally, after five months and after gaining her excavators license so that she could keep searching even after the official, government-sanctioned search was called off, Hiratsuka found her daughterโs body in the โwastelandโ that surrounded the Okawa Primary School, where her daughter was a student.
She was one of the 73 children and 10 teachers who perished in the tsunami after leaving their school and running towards higher ground, located perilously near the Kitami River. When the river became swollen with water the result was devastation and an incredible loss of life.
โI understand that theyโre dead, but I canโt leave the dead body underneath the rubble, in the mud, in the river, or in the water,โ Hiratsuka told the ABC. โFinding her made a big difference to my husband and me. We could have a funeral and cremate her. She had come home to us.โ
Hiratsuka considers herself one of the lucky ones. She has reached closure after finding her daughter.
Sadly, many parents are still searching. Norio Kimuraโs seven-year-old daughter Yuna is one of the only missing people from the town whose body has still not been found. Along with Yuna, Kimura also lost his father and his wife in the Fukushima disaster.
Through his countless hours of searching โ first alone, and now with an army of volunteers โ he has unearthed some of his familyโs belongings, including clothing and shoes, and ultimately the body of his father and his wife. But he has not found Yunaโs remains.
โYuna is not really here, but [the clothing is] proof of her existence and that she was here,โ Kimura told the ABC. โAnd to feel that is the biggest joy for me now and itโs a happy moment.โ
Police appear to have had a major breakthrough in the search for missing Melbourne mum Karen Ristevski who disappeared from her Avondale Heights home back on June 29.
Police are conducting their โmost significant search to dateโ as part of the ongoing investigation into the 47-year-oldโs disappearance.
Members of the Missing Persons Squad, Search and Rescue, Mounted Branch, Air Wing, uniform members, Dog Squad and SES volunteers today began searching a number of rural properties northwest of the city in the areas of Toolern Vale and Gisborne.
RELATED: Samuel Johnsonโs Plea For Missing Melbourne Mum Karen Ristevski To Return Home
โIt is the most significant search weโve conducted to date,โ Detective Steve Dennis from the Missing Persons Squad said during a press conference.
โWeโre very keen to search this area as thoroughly as we can.
โWeโre searching for any evidence or information that would assist us with the search for Karen Ristevski.
โWeโre searching grassland, weโre searching farmland here, any wooded areas, certainly any creeks. We will search where we can.โ
The ABC reports that police have drained a dam in Toolern Vale as part of their search.
This is the second time police have searched the area, however they remained tight-lipped around what has brought them back to the area.
Local residents are being urged to contact police with any information or โany changes or any suspicious activityโ since Ms Ristevskiโs disappearance.
โWe are speaking to all the property owners here,โ added Detective Dennis.
โI would encourage any property owner who has seen anything unusual to contact police.
โWeโll be here as long as it takes to search the area. It is going to be dependant on the terrain. It is quite an extensive area.โ
1. Denise Bidotโs stretch marks
US plus-size department store Lane Bryant made headlines when the below campaign image went viral last week. Why? Because model Denise Bidotโs stretch marks are clearly visible in the unretouched shot. Bidot has revealed itโs only the second time her stretch marks havenโt been photoshopped out of images in her nine-year career.
2. Lorna Janeโs curvy model
The activewear label caused a serious stir on social media in November when they posted an image of a curvy girl wearing their clothes. A far cry โ and a refreshing change โ from their usual roll call of tanned and toned size sixes, the image resonated with women worldwide.
3. Ashley Grahamโs barbie
2016 was plus-size model Ashley Grahamโs year: after penning an essay that called out social media body shamers for Lenny Letter, she scored her first fashion magazine cover and her very own, realistically-shaped Barbie.
4. Ronda Rouseyโs beauty coup
Pantene bucked the trend of what a beauty brand ambassador should look like when they signed MMA Champion fighter Ronda Rousey for their latest campaign. โIโm fully aware that I might not be the first person people think of to collaborate with a beauty brand,โ Rousey said. โIโve been called โMiss Manโ and โsavageโ because of my physique, but to me, strength isnโt only about having muscles.โ
5. Victoriaโs Secret stretch marks
Theyโre not exactly known for promoting positive body image, but Victoriaโs Secret took a commendable step in the right direction when they shared unretouched photos of Angel Jasmine Tookes in the fabled fantasy bra โ with her stretch marks showing.
6. Robyn Lawley challenges โplus sizeโ
The newly crowned Westfield beauty & wellness ambassador spoke out against plus size labeling in October, telling The Daily Telegraph that โitโs degradingโ that a size 14 is considered plus size. โIf the national average is a size 14, then we shouldnโt be segregating people of that size. I feel healthy and natural at that size,โ she said.
7. Chrissy Teigenโs post-baby body
Hollywoodโs reigning queen of relatability scored bonus points when she snapchatted her stretch marks to the world, with the caption, โLOL my thighs have tributaries.โ She followed the post by highlighting how Hollywood elite lose their baby weight, saying their secrecy placed unrealistic expectations on real women. โAnyone in the public eye, we have all the help we could ever need to be able to shed everything,โ she said. โWe have nutritionists, we have dieticians, we have trainers, we have our own schedules, we have nannies.โ
When Lydia Forte and Dimitri Chandris became engaged, there was never any question of where the wedding would be held.
When your family owns a 12th Century castle in Tuscany โ itโs kind of a no brainer.
โThey bought it as ruins and painstakingly restored it to its former 12th-century glory over several years. We spent all of our summers there as childrenโitโs such a special place for me, with wonderful memories,โ the bride told US Vogue.
RELATED: Inside Louise Roeโs Romantic English Countryside Wedding
But thatโs not where the family connections ended, the brideโs mother also made all of the clothes for the day from the brideโs gown, the bridesmaidโs dresses and the flower girls and pageboys ensembles.
The bride also wore her great-great grandmotherโs lace veil, and for the reception the bride changed into a low cut gown with pale blue flowers โ a nod to her groomโs Greek heritage โ and more suitable for dancing the night away.
The overall result? A medieval Tuscan fairy tale brought to life.
Before Paris Hilton, there was her step-great grandmother: a ravishing beauty who married nine times and made a multi-million dollar fortune- as well as plenty of headlines โ along the way.
In a sleek white Rolls-Royce, the elegantly dressed woman was driving through the palm fringed streets of Beverly Hills when she heard the wail of a police siren behind her and quickly pulled into the kerb. โIs there a problem, dahlink?โ she cooed, as the traffic cop leant through the window. She handed him her drivers license and waited impatiently for a few moments, growing increasingly irritated, before abruptly slamming her foot on the accelerator and speeding away. Two blocks later, the startled police officer caught up with her and hauled her unceremoniously out of the car. โVot are you doing?โ screamed the woman. โZeese is outrageous!โ And then she slapped him.
Only Zsa Zsa Gabor could turn a simple drive into international news. The infamous cop slapping incident I June 1989 unleashed a media frenzy and put the irrepressible actress and socialite, then 7, firmly back in her most cherished position: centre stage. At her headline stealing trial, she wore black Valentino (She didnโt want to look โtoo fatโ on camera) and her trademark diamonds, and had two hairstylists waiting nervously in the wings. At one point in the proceedings, the notorious self- publicist and step- great- grandmother of Paris Hilton evoked her self described โuniquely Hungarian talent for melodrama and self dramatisationโ, and flounced out of the court in a huff. Then, after being sensationally sentenced to here days in prison, Gabor waved off the ignominy as โanother good chapter for my book,โ
Like her ubiquitous relative, Paris, Gabor was famous simply for being famous. With her drop- dead- gorgeous looks, larger than life personality and talent for self-promotion, she remained in the spotlight long after most of her peers.
Gabor first blazed into the worldโs consciousness in the 50s when she appeared on US television and became an overnight star with her hilariously over-the-top quips, delivered in her inimitable Hungarian accent. โOh zeese! Zeese are just my vorking diamonds,โ was one of her legendary one-liners. The former beauty queen quickly became an entertainment institution, appearing on TV shows on both sides of the Atlantic. But although she had the requisite bombshell looks for Hollywood, her wooden acting meant she was forever relegated to Cameo roles. Her greatest talent was simply being Zsa Zsa. Gaborโs enchanting beauty meant she was irresistible to men and, as well as marrying nine- including millionaire hotelier Conrad Hilton and actor George Sanders- Gabor allegedly had affairs with everyone from Richard Burton and Sean Connery to Richard Nixon.
But Gabor was capricious and could be charming and coquettish one minute and demanding the next. She was also no stranger to sensationalism. Not only did Gabor claim that Frank Sinatra once forced himself on her, but she also maintains that her daughter Francesca, was the result of rape by her estranged husband, Hilton.
Gaborโs behavior often bordered on the bizarre. She was thrown off a plane for refusing to keep her dogs under control, and threw parties for her nine Shih tzus.
In her later years, she became an inveterate litigator, even suing the makers of Viagra (for supposedly making her ninth husband impotent) and her daughter (for allegedly trying to steal her money.)
But even though Gaborโs life often slipped into caricature, the incorrigible Hungarian somehow remained as endearing as she was enduring. She was well into her 70s when she released her hilariously camp fitness video, Zsa Zsa Gabor: Itโs Simple Darling, in which the prenaturally smooth-skinned Gabor (despite appearances she claims to never have had a facelift) leans excitedly into the camera to share the secret of her youthful vitality.
โIts zimple, dahlingโ she gushed with classic ebullience. โExercise, be beautiful, and have a fabulous love life.โ
The Zsa Zsa Gabor story began on February 6, 1917, although typically, Gabor has judiciously edited her age throughout the years. The middle of two sisters, Eva and Magda, she grew up in an affluent area of Budapest with her parents, father Vilmos, a soldier, and gem dealer mother Jolie. (She was given her first diamond ring by her father, who told her never to accept anything smaller.) She was christened Sari, after opera primadonna Sari Fedak, but soon became known by Sariโs nickname, Zsa Zsa. Gaborโs mother had never fulfilled her ambitions to be an actress and was determined that her daughters would become stars. Life in the Gabor household was one of wealth and privilege and, at 13, Gabor was dispatched to Madame Subiliaโs School for young ladies in Lausanne, Switzerland.
She was given her first diamond ring by her father, who told her never to accept anything smaller.
By her late teens, Gabor had grown into an undisputed beauty; her delicate features, blonde hair and curvaceous figure drew constant admiration. At 19, she received her big break. While in the audience at a concert with her mother one evening she was spotted by the famous tenor Richard Tauber, who was so overcome by the teenagerโs beauty he offered her the lead in his operetta. The Singing Dream, in Vienna, Austria. In rehearsals however, the showโs producer was appalled and begged her: โLook, you canโt sing, you canโt dance, you canโt act โ at least keep that pretty face of yours to the audience!โ It was advice she never forgot.
The Viennese newspapers raved about the young unknownโs beauty and, flushed with her success, Gabor avoided a return to finishing school by marrying a dull but respectable Turkish diplomat named Burhan Belge, whom she met at a party. The couple lived in the Turkish capital, Ankara, where Gabor was feted at embassy parties and, in the first of many extramarital affairs, soon embarked on a passionate tryst with Turkish president Kemal Ataturk, then in his 50s.
Three years later and after telling Belge she was going back to Budapest to visit her family, she slipped out of the country to join her recently emigrated sister, in the US. In 1941 Gabor arrived on Los Angeles and moved in with Eva, who had by then fulfilled their motherโs dream and was an upcoming starlet with several movie roles.
With her blonde hair and sex-siren figure, the middle Gabor sister soon became a permanent fixture at Hollywood parties, and it was at one of these regular soirees that she was introduced to 61-year-old Conrad Hilton. After divorcing Belge (and claiming the pair never consummated their marriage), Gabor married Hilton in 1942, but the hotelier was so shocked by his new wifeโs profligate spending, he banned her form using his credit card and kept her on a strict $250 a month allowance.
Five years later they divorced, but not before a depressed Gabor had spent seven weeks in a mental institution, conceived a daughter, Francesca, who was born in 1947, and had an affair with her 17-year-old stepson Nicky.
It was husband number three, the debonair Academy Award- winning actor George Sanders, who Gabor credits, indirectly, for her entire career. While Sanders was away in London filming, Gabor was roped in by his brother appear in anew TV pilot, which saw her give โagony auntโ advice in response to viewersโ letters. โIn that half hour my career was handed to me on a silver platter,โ Gabor once remarked of the showโs influence on her life.
Audiences couldnโt get enough of the shameless Hungarianโs witty repartee, and by the end o the 50s she was in such demand he once quipped that sheโd become โZsa Zsa, incorporatedโ.
Inundated with television and film work, not to mention nightclub engagements and lucrative advertising contracts, Gaborโs popularity saw her raking in a generous income. However, she spent her money as fast as she earned it, filling the closet of her home with designer gowns and furs, once trilling, โElegance and fame are never cheap.โ
โZsa Zsa wants to be remembered in her prime,โ says her ninth husband, Prince Frederic von Anhalt
She collected jewellery as avidly as she did men- often both simultaneously.
โI want a man who is kind and understanding. Is that too much to ask of a millionaire?โ she once joked. While still with Sanders, she had a longstanding affair with legendary playboy Porfirio Rubirosa who showered her with gifts from Bvlgari and Cartier. The โ60s brought two more husbands: oil heir Joshua Cosden Jr and arts advisor Herbert Hutner, who proposed with a 23 carat diamond engagement ring.
By the mid โ70s, gabor had upsized to a palatial new Bel Air home that was originally built by Howard Hughes and once owned by Elvis Presley, and which she decked out in Moulin Rouge style with red carpets and glamorous photos of herself covering the walls. There were also two other homes- a pad in Palm beach and a Californian ranch where she kept her white Arabian horse, Silver Fox.
Gabor lived like a queen and often acted like one too. She once held up an episode of a TV show for 45 minutes after breaking a fingernail, and could be antagonistically magisterial. โShe demands to be treated like royalty,โ said one Hollywood executive. โZsa Zsa traumatised me. I escorted her to talk shows, and it was a nightmare. The day she had me up on a ladder fixing the air conditioning duct in her dressing room on The Merv Griffin Show is the day I decided to quit.โ
Gabor also believed in her own hype. When she was dismissed as โvainโ and โuntalentedโ by the British comic Peter Cook on a US talk show, an outraged Gabor snapped back, โYou cannot be very talented yourself otherwise you would recognise talent in othersโฆโ before storming out of the studio. Once, after a woman phoned into Larry King Live to declaim Gabor as a publicity-crazed has-been, Gabor screamed into the camera, โYou jealous bitch!โ
After dispensing with three more husbands โ Jack Ryan who designed the Barbie doll; divorce lawyer Michael OโHara; and Felipe de Alba, a lawyer she wed in โmomentary crazinessโ aboard a yacht before leaving the boat (and the marriage) a day later- Gabor married the dubiously appointed Prince Frederic von Anhalt, on August 14, 1986. So far the longest lasting of her nine husbands, Gaborโs star struck beau allegedly bought, rather than inherited his princely title. But for the newly titled Princess Zsa Zsa it was a dream come true, and she posed regally in sash and tiara for portraits.
Gaborโs manic private life- including the cop slapping incident โ ensured her fame never completely died, but, as she reached her 70s her behaviour became increasingly erratic. In 1993 she was sued for libelling Elke Sommer (after calling the German actress โwashed upโ) and in 2005, she and von Anhalt tried, unsuccessfully to sue Gaborโs daughter, claiming she had forged Gaborโs signature to procure money. Francesca countered that her ailing mother was the victim of โelder abuseโ by von Anhalt, and that she had refinanced the house with her motherโs permission in order to protect her asset.
By then, Gabor had retreated from public life. A road accident in November 2002 had left her partially paralysed and ever since a stroke in 2005, she has rarely been seen outside her mansion. โZsa Zsa wants to be remembered in her prime,โ Says von Anhalt, himself an obsessive self- publicist (in 2007 he claimed to have fathered Anna Nicole Smithโs daughter, and also alleged heโd been tied naked to the steering wheel of his Rolls Royce by lesbian robbers).
โShe wants people to remember her [as] she was years ago,โ asserts von Anhalt, who reportedly feeds his wife caviar and buys her gossip magazines.
โShe doesnโt want people to see her in a wheel chair. She doesnโt ever want to look at herself in a photo being pushed around,โ he recently explained, before ending on a flourish. โShe is Zsa Zsa Gabor for goodness sake!โ
TV star, stylist and author Louise Roe married her long-time love Mackenzie Hunkin back in October and now weโve finally had the first glimpse at all the gorgeous pics.

The ceremony took place in the chapel at Eton College before guests were transported to a 15th-century Tudor manor house, Dorney Court, for the reception.

Celebrating the little oneโs second birthday, the family headed to โThe Happiest Place On Earthโ a.k.a every kids dream birthday.
While sadly there a no pics of everyoneโs new favourite toddler, James, and her curly blonde locks, Ryan and Blake did pose for pics with Mickey himself in front of Sleeping Beautyโs Winter Castle.
The family were also spotted later in the day enjoying California Adventure Park next door.
Itโs been a big week for the family, who came out for the first time publicly to support Ryan as he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Asked whether he was concerned that daughter James stole the spotlight from him, he says heโs totally ok with it โ used to it in fact.
โI have no problem with that at all,โ the actor told E! News after the ceremony. โIt wouldnโt be the first time. Trust me.โ
Blake however was proud as punch of her hubby, taking to Instagram she shared a sweet snap of the family standing on his star.
โProud is a pitiful word to describe how I felt today.@vancityreynolds The permanence of your impact is undeniable โฆAlways has been, but now we have a fancy ๐to show for it. ๐โ

It was a rainy Monday morning in Sydney when two police officers arrived at a home in Davidson on the Northern Beaches for what they believed to be a routine house call.
A concerned friend and co-worker, Nichole Brimble, had contacted police after Maria Claudia Lutz failed to drop her two children off at their school, St Lucyโs in Wahroonga, and for her shift at the school canteen.
The officers arrived at around 10:30am, they knock at the door and there is no answer, and call out but there is no movement inside the house. The officers note that both Maria, and husband, Fernando Manriqueโs cars are both parked in the street and no sign of the familyโs pet dog.
Ms Brimble, still concerned, urged officers to investigate further, reports The Sydney Morning Herald.

The officers head around the back through a gate and immediately through French doors at the side of the house they see a man slumped over and appearing to be unconscious. They break into the house where they are immediately confronted with the horror of not only Manriqueโs body, but that of Maria, and the coupleโs children, Elisa, 11, and Martin, 10, as well as the dog, Tequila.
The officers noted that ceiling fans were on in all the rooms, which they would later discover was circulating poisonous carbon monoxoide gas throughout the home.
Within moments back up arrived and the house and street was cordoned off and turned into a crime scene.
โItโs a horrific thing that has happened to this suburb,โ police superintendent Dave Darcy said at a press conference held int he street that same day. โThe mother in particular is held in very high regard in the community. Since coming to Australia they have made a significant contribution to how we live.โ
Police later discovered a network of pipes and gas bottles throughout the home, believed to have been installed by Manrique..
Neighbours reported seeing the technology executive working on the roof with power tools over the weekend before the familyโs deaths.
โHe was right up on the roof replacing tiles and using power tools of sorts,โ Neighbour Ofik Thomassian told News.com.au.
โHe was cutting and banging and making all sorts of noise and pulling up tiles but I donโt really know what he was doing.โ
A number of other neighbours also confirmed seeing the father working on the roof over the weekend.

As the investigation continued speculation mounted as to whether Manrique acted alone or with the help of his wife, with reports saying the family, originally from Columbia with no other family in Australiaa, were struggling to cope with raising their two severely autistic children.
Police however have stated they believe Manrique worked alone and those closest to the family say that Maria was an โamazing motherโ who worked tirelessly to give her children the best possible future.
โMaria was so loved here and it was like a family for her,โ friend Peta Rostirola one of a number of women who knew Ms Lutz through St Lucyโs tells SMH. โShe got so much back from all the kids. The more she gave, the more she got back.โ
โShe was always caring about everyone else, it didnโt matter what was happening in her life, she was always most worried about everyone else,โ Karen Hickmott, another friend told ABCโs 7.30 back in October.
Investigations into the deaths are still ongoing, with an inquest likely to take place in 2017.

William Tyrellโs parents have released a heartbreaking letter to their son as they face their third Christmas without him.
The letter, which was published on the website WheresWilliam.org, pleads for his return and recalls the familyโs favourite memories of William, who would now be five years old.
William went missing from his grandmotherโs house in Kendall on the mid-north coast in September 2014. On the second anniversary of his disappearance, police announced they were offering a $1 million reward for information about the disappearance.
The letter reads:
Itโs Christmas time. Itโs a time when stockings are hung by shimmering trees and happy little ones make their wishes. Itโs a time when mummyโs and daddyโs tuck children into bed with love and kisses only to be awakened by squeals of excitement because Santa has visited.
Christmas is a time for happiness. Itโs a time when families come together and hold each other tight, but not our family and not this Christmas night while our beautiful little boy William is still missing, absent from our sight.
We love you, our darling boy.
You are never far from our thoughts.
We remember everything about you.
Your amazing laugh,
Your kindness and the love you share with your sister,
Your complete adoration of your Daddy,
Your funny faces for Mummy,
Your kisses,
Your hugs and your tearsโฆ
We remember your first words, your first steps, your first fears.
We miss everything about you our beautiful little boy.
We miss your laughter,
Your smell.
Your giggles,
Your singing, and your little cry.
We miss you running through the house.
We miss you playing with your sister and your friends.
We miss you running up to Daddy when he comes home from work.
We miss you jumping into our bed when youโd wake us up for cuddles and kisses.
We miss you cuddling Little Tara and Monkey and playing with Fireman Sam,
You racing Daddy on your bike and the big smile on your face when youโd look up at us while we held your little hand.
We miss you every single minute of every single day, our special little man.
Itโs Christmas time again, our second Christmas without you. But wherever you may be;
We wish that you are safe,
That you are happy,
That you are being loved,
But most of all, we wish that you were here with usโฆ
We will love you forever and keep hope in our hearts that soon someone will come forward, that someone will say something so you will find your way home to usโฆ
All our love and hugs,
Daddy, Mummy, your sister, Jetty Spaghetti and Chrissy and all your loving family.

Lady Gaga has well and truly dropped her โBad Romanceโ days with her video for latest single, โMillion Reasonsโ.
In the new clip, we see her break down in tears in a makeup chair before channelling her inner country girl.
There is even a sweet little moment that highlights the bond she shares with her sister.
The video serves as a continuation to the first high-energy single, โPerfect Illusionโ from her latest album Joanne.

Fans have speculated as to whether on not the song is an ode to her ex, Taylor Kinney after recently discussing details of their breakup.
Gaga opened up about the relationship in an emotional interview with CBS, โI think women love very hard,โ she said. โWe love men. We just love with everything we have. And sometimes I donโt know that that love is met with the type of dignity that we wish it would be met withโ.
Watch the touching music video below.
Aries (March 21- April 20): Youโre speedy, spontaneous and playful
2017 AND YOU
Life is still a rollercoaster, with chaos planet Uranus in your sign all year, keeping things โinterestingโ. Highlights: The best personal and professional relationship prospects youโve had in over a decade. Good relationships can get better. Bad ones will be easier to move on from. What to work on: Note when chaos overtakes you โ work on alleviating it.
WORK & MONEY
You can be a power player professionally: Donโt be a bully at work and donโt allow yourself to be manipulated. With maniacal Pluto in your career zone throughout 2017, you can be a real power player. But you do need to play nice โ integrity will lead to greater success than being underhanded. You can rise to the top of your field โ and get the money that goes with it.
LOVE LIFE
Your love life is on the up and up: April and May should be good for romance, assuming youโre not involved in a relationship that is messing with your head. If youโre open to love, or with someone you can rely on, 2017 could be wonderful. This is because happy and adventurous Jupiter is back in your love zone for the time since 2005. This creates serious romantic potential. Single? Your love options open up. Attached? Life with your partner should be more fun. Miserable in love? 2017 may see you make a bid for freedom.
Taurus (April 21- May 20): Youโre sensual, money-minded and persistent
2017 AND YOU
Overall you should enjoy your daily life more. However, you may still have fears about money to work through. Highlights: Health improvements. Lucky Jupiter in your 6th house of health nearly all of 2017 means you will be more motivated towards better self-care. What to work on: Find out where those money fears came from.
WORK & MONEY
How hard are you willing to work? 2017 is the year when you get to decide how hard you want to work to achieve your goals. There are eclipses lighting up your home and work zones, urging you to find a balance between the personal and the professional. With fun planet Jupiter in your daily life zone, you could decide that having fun is actually more important than working yourself into the ground for the sake of a buck. Wise decision, Taurus.
LOVE LIFE
Time to let people under your skin โฆ for most of the year, youโre biggest challenge will be learning how to let people get closer to you. Itโs too easy for you to put up barriers (e.g. you work so hard you barely see them). That way you donโt have to let anyone really close. However, by October, everything changes with the arrival of happy Jupiter in your love zone. The last three months of 2017 could be the best you have had love-wise in more than a decade. You will realise you deserve to be happy in love.
Gemini (May 21-June 21): Youโre witty, flirty and flexible
2017 AND YOU
You have one more year of serious lessons to get through, nearly all of which will come from your personal and professional relationships. Highlights: A bit of respite, in as much as you still need to work really hard this year, but you will also have a lot more fun and romance than youโve had lately. What to work on: Donโt get mad, learn from upsets with others.
WORK & MONEY
Donโt give up now! The truth is that 2017 is another year of hard work for you โ but itโs the last such heavy-duty one you will have for a while. Donโt cut corners at work, donโt be over-sensitive and do treat lifeโs upsets as lessons, whether you feel like learning them or not. Put in the hard work and hard emotional yards now, and you wonโt have to go through this kind of challenge for at least another seven years.
LOVE LIFE
Learn from annoying people โฆ Whether youโre single or attached, remember this in 2017; the people who annoy or upset you the most are your best teachers. Every time someone proves difficult, look within. This is not about blaming yourself, but realizing that problematic people are your mirrors, showing you where you need to work harder to relate to others. Itโs time to get very real in all your important relationships, personal or professional.
Cancer (June 22- July 22): Youโre sensitive, dynamic and self-starting
2017 AND YOU
You still have to work hard and be organized. The upside is you should start to get financial rewards for your efforts. Highlights: A much happier family home life โ this should come as very good news to you, oh domesticated and family/ home-loving Cancerian. What to work on: Take care of yourself before caring for others.
WORK & MONEY
Leave the past behind: The eclipses in your two cash zones in 2017 suggest itโs a turnaround year for you. This goes triple if youโve been working really hard for the past few years while Saturn has cruised your daily work zone. The rewards that come now could be rather surprising! However, if youโve been slacking off at work, it could be time to up your game, or risk financial dramas. Forget about any past financial upsets โ the eclipses can change everything.
LOVE LIFE
Let love work magic in your life โฆ That might sound like something on a cutesy greeting card, but with magical Pluto in your love zone again in 2017, you will have the chance to feel loveโs power. The good news is youโre way less argumentative, jealous and controlling than you have been. Singles can find love that really transforms their life. Avoid bullies! Couples can go deeper and deeper into the relationship.
Leo (July 23- August 22): Youโre magnanimous, generous and confident
2017 AND YOU
There are eclipses in your love zone and your sign, which mean that 2017 is a massive year for you โ get clear on them and then chase your goals. Highlights: This will be a busy year with lots to do and see, and an innately cheerful and optimistic outlook, which attracts good things to you. What to work on: Detox your home, your relationships, your job, your life!
WORK & MONEY
Inspiration equals cash in 2017: If you allow petty power struggles, jealousies or battles for control to rule your daily working life, it will be very hard for you to enjoy 2017. The best way for you to make good money now is to do work, which inspires you. Work on healing fears you have around money. See a therapist if need be. The more you can stand on your own two feet the better. This is not the time for you to be too dependent on anyone financially.
LOVE LIFE
Hereโs the thing โฆ Your biggest enemy when it comes to love is that you could work too hard and not leave enough time for romance. There is an eclipse in your love zone in August, which could bring love issues to a head. If youโre single and looking, make sure you let go of the past. Forgive all your exes and you will be energetically more able to find someone new. Attached? Your love life could take some unexpected twists this year.
Virgo (August 23-September 22):Youโre modest, practical and analytical
2017 AND YOU
There is a lot going on, including in your love life. Overall though, 2017 is about you finding some inner Zen. Highlights: Better times financially than you have enjoyed recently. The more you believe in yourself, the more you earn. What to work on: Believe that soulmates do exist.
WORK & MONEY
A potentially bumper year financially: With lucky Jupiter in your cash zone, you are more or less set financially. That is, unless youโre breaking the Virgo habits of a lifetime and overspending, in which case watch out. Jupiter in your cash zone will boost your bank accounts if you believe in yourself. However, Jupiter can also send bills out of control. As much as hard work is the most reliable way of making money, you do have luck on your side this year, if you fancy a small flutter.
LOVE LIFE
Believe in loveโs young dream โฆ You still have Neptune in your love zone. That means that if you havenโt already done so, you can connect with someone who is a soulmate (we all have more than one). Do tune into dreamy Neptune in your love zone and see people though โthe eyes of loveโ. Itโll soften your Virgo tendency to nit-pick! Be careful if youโre involved with someone who you feel is not quite on the level. They might be as untrustworthy as you fear.
Libra (September 23- October 22): Youโre charming, diplomatic and artistic
2017 AND YOU
This year, itโs partly about the fact that youโre extra lucky and partly itโs about the fact your dreams can come true. Win/win. Highlights: Having the universe on your side. With Jupiter in your sign for the first time in more than 10 years, youโll find good fortune flowing to you. What to work on: Expecting everything to magically work out without any effort on your part.
WORK & MONEY
A year of growth and expansion: Of course, there is more to your year ahead than the fact that the big planet Jupiter is in your sign. More wonderful? Possibly not! To have lucky and adventurous Jupiter in your sign is a massive deal. It only happens once every 12 years and it puts Lady Luck on your side. Workwise, think of what you want to achieve and go for it. Yes, you will still have to work hard, but you have a gust of celestial wind beneath your wings, so to speak. Things that can go your way, will.
LOVE LIFE
Youโre even more appealing โฆ Librans are renowned for being attractive. Reason being, youโre ruled by the planet of beauty, Venus, and youโre all about relating and harmonising. Whatโs not to like? When you turn on the charm, there is no resisting you. Now with cheerful Jupiter in your sign, youโll be in even more demand.
Scorpio (October 23-November 12): Youโre deep, mysterious and intense
2017 AND YOU
Itโs a year for you to have as much time-out time as you can, while you work on your self-esteem. Highlights: Dreams coming true related to a child, romance or creative project. What to work on: Develop your intuition at home and work.
WORK & MONEY
Money could be an issue for you this coming year: Perhaps youโre worried about your earning potential or you donโt feel you have job security. Whatever the issue, itโs crucial that you worry less about cash and think more about how to achieve financial stability. If youโre doing well you are undoubtedly working hard for your money. Strategise about money this year. Get some financial advice, be it from a trusted friend, your bank manager or an adviser.
LOVE LIFE
If you love yourself, others will too โฆThe biggest obstacle standing between you and happy relationships right now is that you can be too hard on yourself. Obviously, if you donโt believe youโre worthy of loving, you will diminish your chances of being loved for who you are. Use Pluto in your mind zone to overcome any negative feelings you have about yourself. Work on detoxing your mind of negative thoughts by connecting with the universe through yoga, prayer, chanting, meditation or any spiritual path.
Sagittarius (November 23 โ December 21): Youโre funny, adventurous and knowledgeable
2017 AND YOU
You will have Saturn โ the gruelling taskmaster of the zodiac โ in your sign throughout the year, so itโs all about hard work, experience and karma. Highlights: One more year of intense life lessons, which will stand you in good stead for the next 30 years. What to work on: Pay attention to whatโs going on and look for the wisdom within.
WORK & MONEY
You deserve a medal and a pay rise: You have another 12 months of hard work ahead of you. But after that, guess what? You wonโt be in such a tight spot for the next 30 years. Yes, you have the zodiacโs overseer, aka Saturn, in your sign. Thatโs as tough as carrying a six-tonne elephant on your back, while wading through mud. But honestly, if you can keep working for just 12 more months, the rewards will last a lifetime.
LOVE LIFE
You want love as well? With all the hard work and pressure on you this year, you could be forgiven for wanting to be alone. But life isnโt always that easy. Sometimes we have to keep all the balls in the air. If youโre already attached as 2017 dawns, chances are you will be asking your partner for support this year. If they are there for you, it could be the permanent making of the relationship. And if youโre single, 2017 may not be the most romantic year of your life.
Capricorn (December 22-January 19): Youโre practical, ambitious and strategic
2017 AND YOU
You have the lucky planet Jupiter making a rare appearance in your career zone. This means you can fulfill your ambitions and enjoy the process. Highlights: The headiest heights of success that youโve achieved in over a decade. What to work on: Understand that youโre a very intense person โ avoid steamrolling others.
WORK & MONEY
A 12-year professional high: As a Capricorn, youโre almost certainly innately ambitious, so pay attention this year as expansive and lucky Jupiter makes his once-every-12-years visit to your career zone. Whether youโre just starting out or youโre having a midlife surge (itโs a thing), use Jupiter. You will be more popular at work too, but donโt over extend yourself, especially if you are self-employed.
LOVE LIFE
No better, no worse โฆ The bottom line for you astrologically right now is that you have combustible planet Pluto in your sign. This means youโre on free; youโre being transformed by life and you can transform your life. Itโs one of the most intense astrological events possible. When it comes to your love life, you need to remember that Pluto makes you passionate, which is a good thing. But you can also make you controlling and manipulative. Plus, it can affect your temper โ watch out you donโt alienate a lover, would-be lover or an ex with your ire!
Aquarius January (20- February 18): Youโre quirky, original and humanitarian
2017 AND YOU
This can be a year of adventure, mind-expanding activities and life changing developments and events. Highlights: Better than usual chances to teach, study, take adventures and even get published. What to work on: Be more selective about who you spend your time with; cull your list of friends wisely.
WORK & MONEY
Major changes possible: The two full moon eclipses in 2017 occur in your sign and money zones, so itโs a big year for you. If you want to change your financial circumstances, redouble your efforts. If you put in the work in January to October, the end of the year could bring some major, positive developments. Note that working with someone else collaboratively could have issues to do with money, which stem from your past, work through them by looking at where they came from.
LOVE LIFE
Love changes ahead โฆ There are two eclipses affecting you and your love life this year. They take place in February and August and suggest that you have to let something from your love life go. However, equally, it could be youโre moving to a new level or to a new way of being with your current partner. If youโre single, this is the year to well and truly draw a line under the past and open up to new love.
Pisces (February 19-March 20): Youโre imaginative, dreamy and intuitive
2017 AND YOU
2017 brings a major chance to change your life โ one that wonโt come around again for a while. Stop talking or thinking about it and just do it! Highlights: The end of February eclipse brings a chance to turn your life around howsoever you would like to โ so grab the opportunity! What to work on: Understand that the pressure youโre under is actually making you a stronger and better person who knows what theyโre capable of.
WORK & MONEY
With Saturn in your 10th house and bearing down on you all year, 2017 could be another grueling year for you professionally. However, if youโre working really hard and with integrity, you could be finally recognized as something of an expert in your field or somehow feted for your experience. Plus, you could get some kind of financial bonus this year.
LOVE LIFE
Make time for romance: With the alignments in your chart right now, it may feel like itโs easier for you to be single or, if youโre attached, to be very independent within your relationship. But you will find more happiness and fulfillment now when you throw yourself into your partnerships, romantic or otherwise. The thing about relationships is that they push all our buttons. While that might feel annoying in oh-so many ways, in fact it also helps us to grow as people.
Thereโs nothing worse than doing your make-up, only to have the whole effect ruined by dry, flaky skin. No amount of foundation is going to cover that up โ in fact, applying make-up usually only serves to make it worse.
But help is at hand โ and if youโre reading this at work, itโs probably within armโs reach. According to make-up artist Robin Black (she of @beautyisboring fame), all you need is some sticky tape.
โScotch tape is the best for dealing with dry skin,โ Black told Stylecaster. โIt sounds odd, but you can use Scotch tape to remove skin flakes by tapping it gently over dry patches without messing up your make-up.โ
This beauty writer gave it a go (yes, even we suffer from dry patches from time to timeโฆ especially during end-of-year madness), and weโre happy to confirm: sticky tape does the job. It might have taken a tiny bit of foundation off with it, but not enough to be noticeable on the face (just on the tape).
Black also recommends Daiso Japan Sticky Cotton Pieces for the job. โThey look like Q-tips, but on one side of the tip is a skin-safe adhesive thatโs just sticky enough to lift off skin flakes โ or glitter and smoky eyeshadow bits โ without ruining your foundation,โ she says.
But remember, prevention is always better than a cure (especially one involving office supplies). Even oily skin types should moisturise or apply a hydrating serum daily (just look for oil-free), exfoliate regularly and set aside time for a weekly sheet mask sesh to keep skin in tip top, flake-free condition.
JACKIE FRANK: Tell me about the early days. How did you break into the industry?
RACHEL GRIFFITHS: Well, I got shot out of a cannon, really, with Murielโs Wedding. My beginning in Los Angeles was really unusual because Murielโs Wedding was such a phenomenon. It was my first film and it made $60 million in the US. So I had a real following there. Having said that, anything I auditioned for pretty much five years afterwards I didnโt get.
JF: When you were living in Sydney, moving to Hollywood wasnโt really something that was on your radar, was it? You were quoted as saying, โI get spun out in LA. I was like well, yeah, Iโm not beautiful. And now I just look back and go oh, you stupid idiot. It was probably a chat-up line. So it takes a while to tune in.
RG: [Laughs] Or maybe I just have a shopping problem and Iโm blaming LA. I donโt know, itโs funny. As an Australian, I always felt very at home in the UK โ it just felt like our people. Americans are very different to Australians and I had to adjust. I remember I went to this very highfalutin dinner party, right after Murielโs Wedding and I was like the person of honour. And this writer, who apparently was like one of the top writers on a sitcom, said to me, โWell, youโre doing very well for an ugly person.โ I was devastated.
I went to the toilet and I was trying not to cry and it just ruined my whole night. And now I look back and just think, he was joking. He didnโt actually think I was ugly. He thought I was 26 and gorgeous and, you know, it was that American humour. I took it literally because in LA I was like well, yeah, Iโm not beautiful.
And now I just look back and go oh, you stupid idiot. It was probably a chat-up line. So it takes a while to tune in.
JF: But youโre also a bit self-effacing, and have been very frank about where you rank yourself in terms of looks. Youโve said you are โgood looking but not beautifulโ, and that having that outlook has worked in your favour.
RG: I read this great study about women executives. You have to be attractive, handsome, but not so pretty that anyone thinks you donโt have brains. I donโt want to say I feel sorry for really, really beautiful women, but I think it is hard to be taken seriously if you look like Charlize Theron. Like, she wasnโt taken seriously as an actress until she did Monster. Even I was like, God, sheโs a model, how many bloody movies are they going to give her! And then you see Monster and youโre like, shame on me. Because I was totally doing the intelligent brunette/dumb blonde [stereotyping].
I donโt want to say I feel sorry for really, really beautiful women, but I think it is hard to be taken seriously if you look like Charlize Theron.
JF: Are women hard on each other?
RG: We can be. I remember recently I was trawling for some reason on the Daily Mail website and there was this comment about Nicole Kidman as a โstarletโ. I was so angry. It was so debasing of her achievement. And I can just remember thinking about that journalist โฆ you should be ashamed of yourself. This woman writing about one of the great actresses of the past 50 years. And thereโs no male equivalent of that, is there? They wouldnโt be calling [Chris] Hemsworth a โstar boyโ โฆ I find it so offensive. But I think men donโt take very beautiful women seriously, for sure.
JF: Youโve got three children โ Banjo, Adelaide and Clementine. Your youngest, Clementine, is your โmiracle babyโ. You had a difficult birth โฆ
RG: I think we both could have died, actually. She was born in 2009, and I had a spontaneous uterine rupture as I was delivering. Everything was great; Iโd seen my obstetrician the day before. He was this fabulous OB โ he even does the Kardashians โ and he didnโt think anything was happening for a week or two. And then that night I went into labor. I knew it was going to be quick because Adelaide [my second child] had been an hour and a half โ and thatโs from ooh to hello, the whole thing.
Andrew [my husband] had jumped in the shower and I said, โNo, I think we should go.โ When we got to the hospital, I was already almost crowning and we went straight into the delivery room. Then I just had this insane amount of pain and suddenly I couldnโt push. Finally, we got her out and she wasnโt breathing. I remember it in slow motion, like the team kind of running over and pushing this huge red button [for emergency help], all the sirens going. Then I just crashed and it was clear I was bleeding. I was in surgery for 24 hours, but when I came out and my husband was there I just thought everything was going to be all right. I sent Andrew off to get my favourite meal. I hadnโt met Clementine, but everybody had told me she was OK.
So Andy is five blocks away, waiting for my veal in white wine and potatoes. I had a doctor standing there and we were chatting and then I looked down and I saw my stomach go up and I said to the doctor, โIโm bleeding again, arenโt I?โ She was watching my blood pressure and she said, โYeah, weโre going to have to take you backโ and then I just remember all the alarms going. I was like, โOh god, this is serious now.โ
So I call Andy on the doctorโs phone and say, โI love you and Iโm going back inโ and he just drops the veal and runs back to the hospital. Then I was in continuous surgery for 48 hours.
JF: Oh my god!
RG: It was nine days later that I met Clementine. My best friend, Kate, somehow got the matron from intensive care to smuggle her through the laundry tunnels to see me. Iโd kind of hit that wall and gone, โWhat happened? What happened?โ And Kate had said, โShe has to see her baby. Itโs got to happen today. She canโt get better until she knows what it was for.โ And then Clementine comes in on, like, this tray. It was worth it.
JF: Do you believe that things happen for a reason?
RG: No, I just think I was unbelievably lucky. I donโt think God chose me and my child to live any more than God chose some other woman to be trafficked into slavery, but the fact that I did live makes you just go, donโt sweat the small stuff, get on and do something worthwhile.
JF: You are known as an advocate for women. How do you see yourself contributing in that area?
RG: Smart women โ and I do put myself in that box โ think as we go through our journeys as women there is a time we move into โsenior ladies of the tribeโ roles. I feel like Iโm just at the beginning of that journey. We have to have prominent women who can speak for others. There is something that happens when youโre โpost-fuckableโ, a time when we just donโt care anymore about what other people may think of us. In my 20s I probably tempered thoughts I had, feelings I had. I donโt think I was nearly as loud a feminist as I should have been.
JF: Except, hang on, in 1997 you protested about Melbourneโs Crown Casino by turning up at the opening topless.
RG: Thatโs true. But I wasnโt really advocating for women.
JF: How did that come about?
RG: Iโm easily captivated, I guess, by an idea. Iโm not anti-gambling and I donโt mind casinos, but for that moment when Crown first came to Melbourne, it was a huge change in our cityโs culture. It just felt like this crazy concentration of public space for this enterprise.
JF: Youโre a patron of Hagar, a charity committed to helping the victims of human trafficking. Why did you get involved?
RG: Well, initially, I thought slavery was a thing of the past. In a limited way I knew of female sex trafficking, but I thought it was a very kind of niche, small problem. And then you realise the level of criminal engagement and what the numbers are [an estimated 30 million people trapped in slavery] and how much money is being made.
It has overtaken arms dealing and is closing on drugs as being the main source of Cash flow for criminal networks. But how to do something about such an overwhelming issue? So I was drawn to Hagar because their mission is so specific: to take one person who has been rescued from domestic or sexual enslavement. Itโs case by case. And itโs medical, legal. Itโs working with local authorities. Itโs deep-trauma processing because thereโs so much shame, especially in trafficking.
They take your dignity. The final thing is to provide education in some kind of trade because if you have the ability to make a living, youโre worth more than being a trafficked person. We do a Style For Life day through the hair salons of Australia, and part of it is training women to be hairdressers. If you can work in a salon and do a great blowdry, youโre going to make more money than being forced to work in a brothel.
JF: Whatโs the most frustrating thing about acting and whatโs the most fabulous?
RG: The most fabulous thing is being able to step into other lives. I just did this miniseries about the history of the civil rights movement through gay, lesbian, transgender eyes. I play a nurse who worked at the coalface of AIDS nursing [in the โ70s and โ80s]. These boys were dying, theyโd been rejected by their families, the orderlies wouldnโt even come into the room with food because they thought they might get AIDS.
I had lunch with a male nurse who had been on that ward and clearly theyโve all still got post-traumatic stress. He started weeping when he talked about that time. Itโs like their war.
JF: How do you deal with that?
RG: Iโm not really a method actor. Itโs all very well to empathise, but in the end I wasnโt holding the heads of 19-year-olds who were begging you to tell them they werenโt going to die. So I donโt really blur those boundaries. I try to be respectful.
JF: What demands does success make on you, both professionally and personally?
RG: Iโm one of those people that success has made a nicer, more graceful, more thankful person. I was quite pushy when I was young because I needed a certain degree of success to fill whatever hole I had inside myself. My father left when I was 11, we had a real kind of struggletown childhood. It was middle class from the outside, but behind closed doors, not a lot of excess. So I think I used to push hard to get somewhere. So Iโm nicer now, I think.
Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds are fiercely private when it comes to their family, which is why the internet went into meltdown when they made first public appearance as a family on December 15.
While our hearts exploded with the cuteness of the situation, a photo of Blake as a child has since surfaced, showing her eldest daughter James, two, is the spitting image of her famous mum.

Those curls though!
While the family were there to celebrate Ryanโs star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, fans couldnโt get past the coupleโs adorable children.
That said, while we have now seen the kids, we are still yet to be formally introduced, with the couple still remaining tight-lipped on the little two-month-old bubโs name.
And if thatโs not enough, if you can handle just a little more, you have to hear what doting dad Ryan said during his speech.
โI want to thank my wife, Blake, who is sitting right there, who is everything to me. You are the best thing that has ever happened to me,โ Reynolds said and officially returned our faith in love.
โYou make everything better. You make everything in my life better. Youโve given me two of the most incredible children Iโve ever hoped to have.โ
Oliver Curtis โ father to Pixie and Hunter and wife of PR queen Roxy Jacenko โ has had his 1 year jail sentence for insider trading upheld.
This week, Roxy Jacenko said her two children, Hunger aPixie and Hunter, would face a bleak Christmas if her husband Oliver Curtisโs insider trading conviction and one year jail sentence was not overturned.
Today, the 31-year-old learned he would be spending Christmas, and well into next year, behind bars.
Curtis was sentenced in June for his part in a scheme that netted him and his c-oaccused almost $1.5 million.
This week, Jacenko told WHO magazine that she had to stop her mother buying a Christmas tree this year as it would remind her two children โ Pixie, 5, and Hunter, 2 โ that daddy wasnโt there.
โMy mum said to me the other day โI think Iโm going to get a Christmas treeโ,โ she told the magazine.
โI said, โYou canโt, because I told Pixie and Hunter their father would be home by Christmas. I was so far away then โฆ Now here we are.โ
In August, she told 60 Minutes: โPixieโs very upset,โ Roxy revealed in an interview with 60 Minutes. โEvery dayโs hard with her now and she cries for her dad.โ.
Yet there was no sign of the outgoing blonde at the courthouse today as her husbandโs fate was decided. Instead she posted one of her trademark elevator selfies wearing Louis Vuitton.
Who said white tulle has to be reserved for brides? Not Jennifer Lawrence thatโs for sure.
The actress stepped out in a strapless white Dior gown with sheer tulle shirt with a small heart-shaped embellishment on the bodice.

Itโs not the first time Jen has worn tulle on the Passengerโs promotional circuit, rocking a tulle skirt with a sweater which was also from Dior.

After being advised by doctors to abort her baby in order to begin cancer treatment, journalist Elle Halliwell has given birth to a healthy baby boy.
Tor Felix Biasotto was born on Tuesday night, weighing 3.1-kilograms and measuring 48-centimetres, at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, news.com.au reports.
Elle was diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukaemia in May 2016, just two days before finding out she was pregnant. Despite the risks, the 31-year-old chose to keep the baby and prolong treatment.
Now, she will begin taking chemotherapy drugs almost immediately. โIt will be in the next couple of days, sooner than we thought,โ Elle told The Daily Telegraph. โWe were going to have a bit of time before [I started] but my levels have gone up a bit so they are a bit more concerned than they were and that is why we had to have him at 36 weeks on the dot and not 37 so that I could start the treatment as soon as possible.โ
The babyโs name, Tor, is of Swedish origin and means God of Thunder. Felix derives from the Latin word for lucky. โHe is a strong little boy. He has survived a lot so we think it is a fitting name for him โฆ and it is easy to spell,โ Elle told The Daily Telegraph.
โNow the next challenge begins, I start my TKI [tyrosine kinase inhibitor] drugs and we donโt know how that is going to make me feel but I am feeling pretty positive and I have got a lot to be happy and healthy for,โ she says.
So weโre all about wearing a ring on whatever finger you want no matter what your relationship status โ the blingier the better we say.
And thatโs just what model Irina Shayk just did, rocking a giant, well, rock, on that finger, you know, the one most commonly associated with being engaged.

And the internet has officially gone into meltdown with engagement rumours running wild in light of recent revelations that the model and her beau Bradley Cooper are expecting their first child together and all.
And while neither party is yet to confirm or deny the reports, we can still focus on how beautiful the ring โ engagement or otherwise โ is.
Itโs an oval shaped emerald with diamond halo โ that looks remarkably similar to the Duchess of Cambridgeโs iconic sapphire engagement ring that once belonged to Princess Diana.

An Indonesian beauty blogger has died after reportedly being electrocuted by a faulty shower in her luxury hotel.
Rini Cesillia had been holidaying in the popular tourist spot but friends became concerned when she didnโt answer her phone.
Her friend Maria Istella Bambang reportedly found water spilling out from under the door and went in to find her friend unconscious and still clutching the shower hose, reports The Daily Mail.
According to The Sun, police found Cesilliaโs body with burn marks on her chest, and they believe she died after being electrocuted in the shower however they are yet to officially confirm the cause of death.
โWe suspect Cesillia died from electric shock. The body has been evacuated to Sanglah Hospital,โ said Inspector Bangkit Dananjaya, from the South Denpasar Police Criminal Investigation Unit in Bali.
โWe are waiting for the post-mortem examination to ascertain whether the cause of death was electrocution or not.โ
Weโre really trying to keep calm right now but Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds just appeared, in public, WITH THEIR TWO DAUGHTERS!
The couple, who have managed to keep daughter James out of the spotlight for almost two years now, brought her AND her new little sister (who we still donโt know the name of) along for Ryan to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The little tots are every bit as adorable as weโd imagined they would be! James with her curly blonde hair showed off her little personality, grabbing the microphone at one point and seemed to be loving the attention โ perhaps a little star in the making?
And if thatโs not enough, if you can handle just a little more, you have to hear what doting dad Ryan said during his speech.
โI want to thank my wife, Blake, who is sitting right there, who is everything to me. You are the best thing that has ever happened to me,โ Reynolds said and officially returned our faith in love.
โYou make everything better. You make everything in my life better. Youโve given me two of the most incredible children Iโve ever hoped to have.โ
Melbourne-based Rhiannon Stevens already has three children of her own, but that didnโt stop her offering to become a surrogate to her brother, Clinton, and his partner Callum, after they tied the knot in 2012.
โIโve always said that when the time came, Iโd help Clinton to have a child,โ Rhiannon told news.com.au. โIt felt like the most natural thing in the world to offer to be his and Callumโs surrogate.โ
Clinton and Callum initially explored adoption and international surrogacy but both processes proved too difficult.
Rhiannon became pregnant with their first daughter, Zara, in 2014 after a successful embryo transfer involving a donor egg and the coupleโs sperm.
โAfter Zara was born, it only took me three months to offer to go again,โ Rhiannon says. โPeople always ask me how I knew Iโd be able to hand over the baby Iโd carried for nine months at the end. I always tell them that itโs because I always knew I was carrying my brotherโs baby. Not mine.โ
Just three weeks ago Rhiannon gave birth to Clinton and Callumโs second child, a daughter named Aiden.
โZara and Aiden are both beautiful girls, but I am very happy in my role as their aunt,โ she says. โClinton and Callum are absolutely wonderful with kids and helping them to become parents was a dream come true for me. Iโd do it again in a heartbeat.โ
Before becoming Clinton and Callumโs surrogate, Rhiannon was required to have multiple counselling sessions and the trio spent a year finalising legalities and signing a contract.
If you had to sum up the mood in interiors for 2016, โwarm minimalismโ is probably the best way to accurately capture the soft, sophisticated and oh-so-slightly restrained wash of palettes that got the comfort treatment with lush textures and copper highlights this year.
Hereโs some of our favourite looks that nailed this yearโs best interior trends.
1. Indoor plants
Green thumbs stand proud, this was the biggest trend we saw this year, and we liked it. Thereโs nothing easier than adding a pot plant to your home, and add them we did, because in 2016 the more plant life your home boasted, the better. Sure, it can be a challenge to keep them alive, but if you do, youโll be rewarded with cleaner air and a more colourful home.
2. Marble managed to shake off its heavy and overly ornate image and became a centrepiece for contemporary cool in 2016.
3. Pink got all grown up and showed up in the most sophisticated of settings. Paired with copper, brass and a dash of marble, the look is sure to keep growing in 2017.
4. Subway style continues to be the tile of choice for kitchen splashbacks. Itโs a timeless look that adds graphic pattern to a space.
5. Greys remained the go-to choice for luxe loveliness. Layer different tones for a softer look.
Roxy Jacenko has been open about her own struggles since her husband, Oliver Curtis, was sentenced to one year in jail for insider trading.
Now she has revealed the toll it is taking on the coupleโs young children, Hunter, two, and Pixie, five, who she says has โterrible daysโ.
โWe just try to make sure sheโs busy all the time because an idle mind, whether youโre five or 50, is a disaster, but Iโm proud of her,โ Roxy tells WHO magazine.

โI told Pixie and Hunter their father would be home by Christmasโฆit was so far away, now here we are,โ she added.
Back in August the PR maven also revealed Pixieโs struggles with not having her dad around.
โPixieโs very upset,โ Roxy revealed in an interview with 60 Minutes. โEvery dayโs hard with her now and she cries for her dad.โ.
โMaking a happy birthday video for him last night was horrible. Absolutely awful. She cried and slept in bed with me.โ

The first photos of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle together are here and everyone is freaking out.
The Sun reports the photos were taken after the Prince took the Suitsstar, 35, on a โromantic dateโ at a theatre in central London.

Tony Abbott has called out people suffering with depression who rely on the disability support pension.
Talking to 2GB, Abbott voiced his opinion on what the Turnbull government needs to do for the next national budget.
โIf people are doing the best they can for themselves and for their families and it is literally impossible for them to find work, fair enough. We were far too ready to put people on the DSP [disability support pension], with bad backs, a bit of depression and so onโ he said.
He continued โThese are not permanent conditions.โ
Disability pensioners were not the only ones though with Abbott also calling out individuals for not taking the first job they see, โWe have to wake up to ourselves. This idea that you can be unemployed on benefits in a town where you canโt get fruit pickersโฆitโs just wrong,โ he said.
โThese might not be the jobs you want to do for the rest of your life but a job is a jobโฆYou have to take it, you just have to take it.โ
The controversial comments caused quite the backlash with many taking to social media, slamming his comments for trivializing mental illness by calling it โa bit of depressionโ.
Kevin Ruddโs daughter, Jessica Rudd also voiced her thoughts on the former Prime Ministerโs comments.
An 18-year-old student is behind a striking photography series depicting some of President-Elect Donald Trumpโs most derogatory comments, painted on the bodies of real women.
Aria Watson, who studies at Clatsop Community College in Oregon, USA, created #SignedByTrump as a project for her Intro to Photography class and shared the photos on social media in the hope that more people โwould realise what kind of man he is,โ she explains in a video on YouTube.
While weโre used to sound bites of Trumpโs most outrageous statements โ โgrab โem by the pussyโ stands out in particular โ seeing them branded on womenโs bodies highlights just how offensive and damaging they are.
Instagram and Facebook have both taken the images down in line with their nudity policies, but they remain on Twitter and Tumblr.
Watson hopes the images inspire people to make their voices heard.
This morning Australians woke to discover that the fragile Syrian ceasefire had collapsed overnight.
The deal, struck on Tuesday, was supposed to allow tens of thousands of civilians to be evacuated from the besieged city of Aleppo. Instead, buses meant to ferry people to safety were turned back amid heavy shelling, according to the ABC.
Just hours ago, it was announced that a second ceasefire may begin on Thursday, but meanwhile, the messages coming from the besieged city have grown increasingly bleak.
The White Helmets โ the Nobel-Prize-nominated Syrian Civil Defence Force โ posted this devastating tweet yesterday. โWe hear children crying, we hear calls for help, but we just canโt do anything. Weโre being bombed continuously.โ
It is the latest, tragic episode in a five-year war that has claimed the lives of a quarter of a million people including many children.
There are 14,000 kilometres between Sydney and Aleppo, and on a day like today โ when the most serious problem many Australians are facing is pre-Christmas stress โ that distance can seem very far indeed.
Yet, there is a way to help. And it doesnโt involve โlikingโ a Facebook post or donating to a charity.
Veteran war journalist Janine di Giovanni, the Middle East editor of Newsweek and a contributing editor for Vanity Fair, says that โMoney is not the answer. [The charities] have tons of money. What is more important is [that people] understand what is happening so far from their homes but to people just like them.
โThis is the first step, because when people are aware they can make a louder noise,โ says Di Giovanni, who wrote The Morning They Came For Us, Dispatches from Syria. โThey will be angry and sad and they will feel the need to do something โ like writing a letter. These things add up.โ
Di Giovanni, who has reported from some of the most dangerous places on earth โ from Iraq to Libya and Syria, says that only public pressure will put a stop to the Syrian conflict. โThis is how we helped to end the war in Bosnia โ by public awareness and pressure.โ
ABC journalist Sophie McNeil agrees, saying that aid agencies and the UN have the food and equipment to help the besieged Syrians. โWe did a story about the town Madayaโฆ The UN had the food โ it was in warehouses in Damascus 40 kilometres away. It wasnโt delivered because the Syrian government didnโt give them permission to go to those areas.โ
โThis is not an issue of funding. This is an issue of the world turning its back on the Syrian people,โ says McNeil, a Walkley-Award-winning journalist who is based in Lebanon and has been reporting on the Middle East for 10 years.
โWe havenโt seen the political pressure exerted on the players [in the war].โ
McNeil emphasizes that the Syrian conflict has violated international law in ways that have never been seen before.
โThe rules of conflict and the rules of war have been erased. Youโre not meant to bomb hospitals, youโre not meant to target doctors, youโre not meant to starve children to death as a tactic of war. But this has been normalised in this conflict.โ
McNeilโs comments echo those of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Raโad al Hussein who yesterday said that the Government of Syria is obliged under international law to provide medical assistance to all sick and wounded people โ and that it is โpalpably failing to do soโ.
McNeil warns that ignoring the fate of Syrians will have far-reaching consequences. โWe can sit here and think [the Syrian war] doesnโt affect usโฆ but the world is going to pay a price for turning its back on Syria โ with the rise of extremismโฆ the group ISISโฆ the instability of the Middle Eastโฆ the refugee crisis. All of this has come out of the world not giving a shit about whatโs happening in Syria.
โYou may think [the Syrian crisis] doesnโt directly affect you, but what kind of world do you want to live in? If you have kids, what kind of world do you want them to live in? People need to think: is this the kind of world I want to live in?
โIf you are disturbed by what youโve seen in Syria, and you wish that it had never happened, and that things would get better, do something. As a reporter who spends all my time trying to tell people [whatโs happening]โฆ I canโt do anymore to tell you how bad things are, how horrific it is.

Uber employees have been accused of using the companyโs vehicle-tracking technology to obtain the whereabouts of celebrities and ex-lovers โ and helping others do so to.
Former Uber forensic investigator Ward Spangenberg, who was fired from the company earlier this year, is suing the company for age discrimination as well as โwhistle-blower retaliationโ after raising concerns over security breaches.
Spangenberg made the allegations in a court-signed declaration which claims the company failed to protect sensitive information on both customers and employees.
RELATED: Uber Driver Sacked Following Homophobic Behaviour
โUberโs lack of security regarding its customer data was resulting in Uber employees being able to track high profile politicians, celebrities, and even personal acquaintances of Uber employees, including ex-boyfriends/girlfriends, and ex-spouses,โ Spangenberg wrote in a court declaration, signed in October under penalty of perjury obtained by The Centre for Investigative Reporting.
Spangenberg says he frequently objected to what he believed were โreckless and illegal practicesโ, he was fired after only 11 months.
โI also reported that Uberโs lack of security, and allowing all employees to access this information (as opposed to a small security team) was resulting in a violation of governmental regulations regarding data protection and consumer privacy rights,โ he stated in the declaration.
RELATED: Meet The Grandma Uber Driver You Never Knew You Needed
The Centre for Investigative Reporting adds that another former Uber employee, Michael Sierchio, agreed that Uber had particularly weak privacy protections in place.
โWhen I was at the company, you could stalk an ex or look up anyoneโs ride with the flimsiest of justifications,โ he said. โIt didnโt require anyoneโs approval.โ
An Uber spokesperson says the claims are โabsolutely untrueโ and that there are strict policies and controls around who could access user data.
โWe have hundreds of security and privacy experts working around the clock to protect our data,โ Uber said in a statement.
โThis includes enforcing strict policies and technical controls to limit access to user data to authorized employees solely for purposes of their job responsibilities, and all potential violations are quickly and thoroughly investigated.โ
The case is ongoing.
Gigi Hadid has returned as the face of Stuart Weitzman for the Spring โ17 collection.
After posing nude alongside supermodels, Joan Smalls and Lily Aldridge last season, she takes the reigns solo this time around.
Gigi also recently collaborated on an exclusive shoe with the iconic footwear designer, a lace-up bootie aptly named, The Gigi Boot.

Explaining the decision to use nude models in the Spring 2016 campaign, Weitzman said he wanted to convey โthe intimate relationship between a woman and her shoes.โ

As 2016 draws to a close (ugh no complaints from us) itโs time to take a look back and reflect on the year that was.
Google have released their top search lists for 2016 with some surprising, and some not so surprising results.
The most googled woman in Australia this wasnโt a Bachelorette star or Lara Worthington but rather journalist Tara Brown, the 60 minutes presenter who was detained in Lebanon after the now-infamous failed child rescue attempt.
However Tara was actually third on the list of Aussies after NRL star Mitchell Pearce โ who went on an alcohol-fueled bender earlier this year and was filmed in an inappropriate position with a poodle.. And while Molly Meldrum came in at number two thereโs a definite theme in this yearโs list with sporting stars taking out five of the top 10 spots, and politicians Pauline Hanson and Malcolm Turnbull making an appearance following this yearโs federal election.
Hereโs the full list of Aussies:
As for global searches, this year is was all about the US election with Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton taking out the top two spots.
Following that thereโs a Irish mixed martial arts star, Making a Murderer subject Steven Avery, and then Melania Trump and Meghan Markle โ who was also subsequently โ and unsurprisingly โ the most googled actress of 2016.
Hereโs the full list:
And finally hereโs the overall list of topics Aussieโs were googling in 2016:
Hereโs to a brighter 2017!
Just like her big sister Gigi, Bella Hadid is taking the fashion world by storm โ from all angles.
The 20-year-old model has just announced a new collaboration with Chrome Hearts which will see her design her first clothing line for the US clothing and jewellery retailer.
โSo damn excited! You have no idea whatโs coming,โ she wrote on Isntagram alongside a picof her wearing a cropped t-shirt emblazoned with โChrome Heartsโ and the letter โBโ.

Chrome Hearts was established by Richard Stark in the 80s and Bella and sister Gigi are close friends with his daughter Jesse Jo.
Bellaโs collection will hope to emulate the success fir sister Gigiโs collaboration with Tommy Hilfiger. While Gigiโs collection was all-American peppiness at itโs best, going off Bellaโs edgier sense of style, weโre expecting something a little different from the younger Hadid.
โIโve always had a โstyleโ at heart, and Iโve always known my vibe, and how I like to dress, but I think definitely this past year and a half it is more put together,โ Bella told Vogue of her style back in October.
โBefore, Iโd put a plaid skirt with a leather jacket and a mesh top and it would look crazy but it was still my style. Now it is more refined.โ
The ways of the Kardashians have never made much sense, but their latest antics are even more bizarre than usual. Hot on the heels of Kanyeโs very public meltdown (and subsequent Trump coffee date), Kim Kardashian has launched a new Instagram account โ and itโs truly NSFW.
The @kimoji account so far contains only two images, each repeated three times. One depicts slow-motion (and, it has to be said, strangely mesmerising), near-naked twerking; the other, more Kardashian-level nudity.
Itโs so bizarre โ even for Kim โ that at first glance, we assumed it was a hoax. But the powers that be at Instagram have already bestowed their blue tick of approval (signifying that itโs verified) and Kim Kardashian has liked some of the pics from her own account. Guys, itโs legit.
Kimmy K has been quiet on Instagram since her Parisian hotel suite was broken into in October. Her return appears to be financially driven โ each image is captioned simply with, โDECEMBER 16โ and the link in bio takes you to her online store, where you can already buy such treasures as a โKimoji Buttโ air freshener and โButt Collageโ wrapping paper.
Prepare yourselves: more Kardashian merch is coming. And we have a feeling the world is far from ready for it.
Lena Headeyโs enormous Game Of Thrones salary may have just been exposed in a custody battle with her ex-husband over their son.
Peter Loughran has asked Headey to pay for his $52,000 legal fees, arguing that she is better placed to pay for it given her high earnings.
RELATED: Lena Headey Predicts Cerseiโs Future On Game Of Thrones
The Hollywood Reporter has reported that the main cast (Peter Dinklage, Kit Harington, Emilia Clarke, Lena Headey and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) earn upwards of $1 million (USD) for each episode of the show. This is even higher than the previously estimated amount ($500,000).
TMZ is reporting that according to court documents, he thinks Headey should pay because he doesnโt have a steady job.
Headey is arguing that she should get custody of their son Wylie as she has to move to the UK for work. However Loughran argues that he doesnโt believe she still has work in the UK and she shouldnโt need to take him there.
Lena Headey and Peter Loughran were married in 2007 and Wylie was born in 2010. They broke up in 2011 and finalised their divorce in 2013.
A 10-year-old boy has tragically died from pneumonia after his aunt, who was a nurse, and her partner allegedly failed to get him medical attention for six years.
Senior private hospital nurse Jodie Maree Powell and her partner James Colin Burnham currently face charges of manslaughter for the death of 10-year-old Curtis Powell.
The Courier Mail reports that Ms Powell was appointed as carer for Curtis in 2008, and she allegedly failed to take him to a doctor for more than six years. Curtis had been living with them since he was a toddler, and was supposed to have regular visits from a caseworker, but it is unknown how often these occurred.
Ms Powellโs application for bail on manslaughter, cruelty and interfering with a corpse charges was rejected. Mr Burnham faces the same charges for the boyโs death.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Josh Kelly said that the boy was eventually taken to hospital after family members saw him vomiting and being sick in bed that morning. He said that from looking at Medicare records, โthe deceased child had not received any medical treatment for any illness or injury since September 2010.โ
Sergeant Kelly said that the child had injuries on his back, groin and legs, possibly as a result of blunt-force trauma, but there was no known cause for the injuries.
Police also found a fork with the boyโs blood on it in the house.
Magistrate Penelope Hay said that the case against Ms Powell was particularly strong given her nursing qualifications.
Ms Powell and Mr Burnham were arrested yesterday after an investigation linked the couple to his death.

It may surprise you that Meghan Markle topped the list, but from the announcement that she is dating Prince Harry it makes total sense. The other ones may intrigue you thoughโฆ
1. Meghan Markle
2. Marion Cotillard
3. Jodie Sweetin
4. Daisy Ridley
5. Brie Larson
6. Jenna Dewan Tatum
7. Leslie Jones
8. Kate McKinnon
9. Alicia Vikander
10. Millie Bobby Brown
In the wake of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolieโs split, it makes sense that Marion Cotillard came in second place after cheating rumours arose (and were dismissed). The release of Star Wars last year was a ground-breaking event for newcomer Daisy Ridley, so itโs great that she made the list. Same goes for little Millie Bobby Brown, who played Eleven in a breakout role in Netflixโs critically acclaimed series Stranger Things.
Itโs also been an enormous year of movies for Alicia Vikander, and who could forget Kate McKinnonโs excellent portrayal of Hillary Clinton alongside Alec Baldwin as Donald Trump?
Interestingly, this list does not overlap much with the list of highest paid actresses. So itโs been a great year for newcomers!
Botox might be good for relaxing your muscles to smoothen wrinkles, but who would have thought it would be linked to fighting depression?
Researchers from the University of Texas conducted a study that investigated a theory that Botox injected into the face eased depression.
The study tried to test four theories for why this could be the case. They investigated whether looking younger made people feel better, less frowning led to more positive social interactions with others, whether less use of frown muscles sends signals to the brain to be happier and if botox injections could possibly make their way to the brain.
RELATED: Thinking Of Cosmetic Surgery? Read This First
All four of these theories were disproved. But interestingly, they still found that nine out of ten participants saw reductions in symptoms of depression when treated with Botox.
Scientists are now investigating what the possible cause could be, so it seems that Botox could actually have some positive effects. Pretty interesting!

A father who sexually assaulted and exploited his daughter for the benefit of other paedophiles has been jailed for 14 years, with the court hearing his behavior was the โgrossest thing any parent could do to their own childโ.
The West Australian father, now in his 50s, recorded and shared the abusive treatment of his daughter, which he inflicted upon her for nine years between 2002 and 2011.
In addition to admitting to grooming the girl from a young age while her mother was at work, the man also downloaded porn showing children as young as 12 months being โsadistically tortured,โ reports The West Australian.
In sentencing the father, District Court Judge Christopher Stevenson said the man took away his daughterโs innocence and robbed her of a normal development in a secure and loving home.
โIt is difficult to imagine a more degrading and perverse course of action by a father to a daughter,โ he said. โThe victim suffered chronic escalating incestuous abuse at the hands of her father, who was older, physically bigger and much stronger and held a position of trust and power. In the many years that the abuse took place, the victim was never able to disclose it to anyone in her family, so there was no protection or effective intervention.โ
He described the pornography that was found on the manโs computer as vile, particularly depraved and beyond human comprehension.
โIt is not the behaviour or conduct that can be seen anywhere else in the animal kingdom,โ he said. โThat material is baseless and it is difficult to comprehend how you could possess it.โ
The man pleaded guilty to 51 child sex charges, including 19 counts of sexually penetrating his daughter and 24 counts of indecently recording her.

Itโs official, the war-torn city of Aleppo has become the closest place to hell on Earth with reports coming out that this morning 20 women committed suicide in order not to be raped by the Assadists (troops loyal to Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad) and foreign militias under Iranian command who have stormed through eastern Aleppo on Monday recapturing almost all of the opposition-held areas.
The U.N. has credible reports that civilians have been killed either by intense bombardment or summary executions by pro-government forces.
Zeid Raโad al Hussein, the High Commissioner for Human Rights, said in a statement. โDozens of bodies litter the streets of a number of east Aleppo neighborhoods, with residents unable to retrieve them due to the intense bombardment and fear of being shot,โ Hussein said. โWe are nowhere near the end of this cruel conflict.โ
Appalling news follows on from Reuters that more than 100 unaccompanied children are trapped in a building under heavy bombardment in eastern Aleppo, according to UNICEF.
And any civilian left who can no longer can find refuge in crammed and crumbling buildings in besieged neighbourhoods are being โcooked aliveโ on the streets by barrel bombs.
The only hope left for the civilians trapped in the tortuous circumstances are The White Helmets, an incredible group of volunteers who risk their lives to rescue the from bombings, wounds and try to help get them safely out of the city.
Internationally, the US and supporters are arguing for the right to establish free passage out of harmโs way, under the United Nations oversight, for civilians trapped, but so far Moscow is rejecting and reneging on any promises.
As any light begins to fade for the people of Aleppo, they are turning to social media to highlight their plight, signing off as troops take control of their neighbourhoods
Darren Byrne, 40, has been found guilty of dousing his wife Maria in alcohol and setting fire to her body on February 13 this year.
The former futures trader attempted to cover his tracks by switching the gas on in their Essex home and alleging that Maria, 34 had accidentally killed herself while making him a bacon sandwich, The Guardian reports.
He then called the emergency services, saying โMy wife is dead she is dead. Sheโs burnt badly.โ When the paramedics arrived at their house, he told them that he had been out of the house, walking the dog, when his wife died.
The attack occurred after Maria confronted her husband about his affair with an osteopath in London.
The couple had two young children who were not present at the time of the murder. They were staying with their grandparents.
โEight years ago we entrusted Maria, the most precious thing we had, to Darren Byrne. We loved him and treated him like our own son,โ Mariaโs mother Linda Biggs said in a statement after her son-in-lawโs verdict was handed down.
โThis person, instead of loving and protecting her, took her life in the most degrading way.โ
A Sydney man who lured an aspiring model to his home for a photoshoot before sexually assaulting her has avoided jail time.
Phillip Lopes invited the woman to attend a photo shoot on Boxing Day 2013 at Shepparton, the woman arrived alone and surprised to find the shoot was at his house.
According to The Sydney Morning Herald Lopes then asked the women to strip down to her underwear before asking to her to remove all items so she was completely naked. The then preceded to take photos of her, spread her legs and touched her breasts and vagina.
Judge Barbara Cotterell said during a hearing on Tuesday that the woman felt pressured to undress, and was โfrozen in shockโ while naked.
Afterwards, Lopes reportedly told the woman: โWe have one rule here: what happens on a photo shoot stays on a photo shoot.โ
The woman has since left her job due to depression, has engaged in self-harm and become estranged from her family.
The 45-year-old man pleaded guilty to two charges of indecent assault but the judge found that despite the womanโs shock and distress afterwards, there was no evidence to show it was not consensual.
โYou were an older man in a position of influence over a young and inexperienced woman โฆ you took advantage of the situation to the detriment of the complainant.โ
Aviding the maximum 10-year jail term, Lopes was handed a two-year community corrections order and must serve 180 hours of unpaid work.

Amber Heard has had a difficult year. After coming forward with domestic abuse allegations against Johnny Depp, she was accused of lying to get money out of the divorce.
Whilst she donated the financial proceeds of her divorce to charity, she still faced skepticism and online trolling over speaking out about domestic violence.
RELATED: Video Shows Johnny Depp Fighting With Amber Heard
But now, she has written a letter in the December issue of Porter magazine to her โsilent sisters everywhereโ who are afraid to speak about about abuse.
โLetโs start with the truth โ the cold, hard truth. When a woman comes forward to speak out about injustice or her suffering, instead of aid, respect and support, she will be met with hostility, skepticism and shame,โ she wrote. โHer motives will be questioned and her truth ignored.โ
She added that she has always hated the label โvictimโ, and she resented being called one when she brought forward her allegations against Depp.
โI was raised to be independent and self-reliant. I was never given nor wanted the burden of dependency,โ she said. โI never felt like anyone would or could rescue me, so naturally I resented the label of โvictim.โ โ
She then spoke out to others who had suffered abuse, and encouraged them to speak out and stand strong.
โYou, like me, see yourself not as a victim but rather as a member of a growing class of women, daughters of a generation of equality. We have inherited far too much to be resigned to accept injustice and together we are much too strong to excuse it any longer.โ
Australiaโs golden couple of Instagram Hamish Blake and Zoe Foster Blake celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary over the weekend and in true Hamish and Zoe fashion they documented it on Instagram in the most Hamish and Zoe way.
Somehow these two manage to perfectly balance their loved-up gushiness with the right amount of humour to make green with envy about the extent of their #couplegoals.
Returniung to the scene of the crime, The Emirates One&Only Wolgan Valley in the Blue Mountains, the couple posted a series of sweet snaps marking the milestone โ which also happened to be Hamishโs 35th birthday.

A father in the UK drowned his daughter in the bath before wrapping her lifeless body around her pet dogs, before sending his ex wife of 12 years a chilling text message and taking his own life back in June, an inquest has heard.
โYou have left me with nothing. Iโll leave you with only memories,โ Darren Flux-Edmonds, 44, wrote to his estranged wife Nikki Flux-Edmonds before drowning daughter Keziah, six, along with the familyโs two pet dogs.
Mrs Flux-Edmonds called police after receiving the chilling text, before returning home to find the horror scene.
Keziah was found lying on her bed in her favourite pyjamas, with her arms wrapped around the dogs, she was rushed to hospital but they were unable to revive her.
โI would never have left Keziah alone with Darren had I thought he would hurt her. My world is over, I have nothing left,โ Mrs Flux-Edmonds said in a statement read to the hearing.
The Isle of Wight coronerโs court also heard how Mr Flux-Edmonds was taking antidepressant medicine and had been seeing a therapist before the tragedy occurred where he had reportedly revealed nightmares her experienced in which he murdered his wife and daughter, reports The Sun.
A month before the deaths, Mr Flux-Edmonds had attempted to take his own life and was assessed by his GP as a โpriorityโ patient just two weeks before, according to the BBC.
Coroner Caroline Sumeray described the โnightmareโ which unfolded as โtotally unforeseeableโ and ruled the deaths as unlawful.
โHe took everything that was precious to you. He knew what he was going to do,โ Summeray told Keziahโs mother during the hearing.
โThis is the most awful case. You have conducted yourself with great dignity and courage. You must not blame yourself for what happened, it was totally unforeseeable.โ

In an era of reality TV stars and Insta-famous wannabes, itโs easy to lose sight of lifeโs real heroes.
One such hero is Lizzie Velasquez, who has taken on online trolls after finding herself featured in a cruel meme that targeted her disability.
Lizzie has a rare genetic illness that means that she cannot gain weight, and has never weighed more than 29 kilograms. She is also partially blind.
In 2006 โ when the Texan was just 16 โ a Youtube video dubbed her the worldโs ugliest woman. But Lizzie turned the publicity to her advantage and spoke out against the bullying.
She has since become a motivational speaker who is known for her TedX talk โHow do you define yourself?โ and her Youtube videos have amassed more than 50 million views. She also starred in the documentary A Brave Heart: The Lizzie Velasquez Story.
This week, Lizzie once again spoke out in the face of bullying after a meme was circulated poking fun of her appearance.
She wrote:
Iโve seen a ton of memes like this all over @facebook recently. Iโm writing this post not as someone who is a victim but as someone who is using their voice.
Yes, itโs very late at night as I type this but I do so as a reminder that the innocent people that are being put in these memes are probably up just as late scrolling through Facebook and feeling something that I wouldnโt wish on my worst enemy. No matter what we look like or what size we are, at the end of the day we are all human.
I ask that you keep that in mind the next time you see a viral meme of a random stranger. At the time you might find it hilarious but the human in the photo is probably feeling the exact opposite. Spread love not hurtful words via a screen. Xoxo Lizzie
When I was 10 years old my cousin took me to a screening of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi at the IMAX theatre in Darling Harbour. The lights went down, the scrolling crawl kicked in โ โA long time ago, in a galaxy far, far awayโ โ and that booming, unmistakeable orchestral chord blasted out signalling that here was a film that was larger than life and fuelled by imagination, that told the tale of other worlds and strange cuddly Ewok creatures and swords fashioned from beams of pure, incandescent light. I was amazed. I was thrilled. I was hooked.
Over the years the force with which Star Wars has gripped my imagination has ebbed and flowed. In the dark days of the prequels I was less than enamoured with the bad plotting, the bad acting, and the bad character development. But I loved the thrilling graphics, the soaring pod racing sequences, Natalie Portmanโs outlandish hair and makeup. Star Wars was still the ne plus ultra of moviemaking: the kind of storytelling that elevates films from moving images on a screen to pure, unadulterated fantasy.
There was only one problem. Almost everyone in it was white.
Sure, there was the swagger of Lando Calrissian in The Empire Strikes Back and, later Samuel L. Jacksonโs Mace Windu, but for the most part non-anglosaxon faces in the franchise were few and far between. And yes, the series is studded with the multicultural hallmarks of a galaxy far, far away โ humans rub shoulders with different species in bars, spaceships and death stars โ but, those extra-terrestrial beings are treated mostly with disdain.
The sand people in Attack of the Clones? โ[They] walk like men, but theyโre vicious, mindless monsters,โ Cliegg Lars tells Anakin Skywalker. Nerf-herders are famously scruffy, half-witted and stuck-up. Jar Jar Binks โ poor, much maligned Jar Jar Binks โ is often named one of the more racist characterisations in cinema, with his childlike, simplified English vernacular.
And letโs not even get started on the women of Star Wars. Over the entire six episode franchise I can come up with only three significant female characters, and of those three, only one is depicted with any kind of agency (Leia, the original badass female action heroine, strikes again, so to speak). And none who accurately represented me, an Asian woman, on screen. This isnโt the woke, enlightened franchise that youโre looking for.
Star Wars might still take place in a galaxy far, far away, but since the franchise was rebooted last year its inhabitants have more closely resembled the diversity of the real world. Episode VII was not only led by a woman (Daisy Ridley, who took no prisoners and broached no romantic sublot), it was replete with non-white faces, from John Boyega, the worldโs first black Stormtrooper to Oscar Isaacโs Poe Dameron, a charismatic, Hispanic Resistance fighter pilot.
But itโs this monthโs Rogue One: A Star Wars Story that just might be the most meaningful of them all.
Thereโs a lot thatโs new in Rogue One. Thereโs no opening crawl, for one โ sob โ and itโs still unclear just how much of the franchiseโs rich, iconic and beloved symbolism and motifs will be carried over to this film. But one new thing that Iโm not complaining about is the incredibly diverse cast of rebels assembled to steal the top-secret plans for the Death Star.
Led by Felicity Jonesโ Jyn Erso โ another independent, fiery female character to stand proudly alongside Rey and Leia in the canon โ the film also stars British-Pakistani actor Riz Ahmed, Chinese actors Donnie Yen and Jiang Wen, Mexican actor Diego Luna and African American actor (and Academy Award Winner) Forest Whitaker. These five are joined by a host of supporting characters to form a ragtag band of rebels attempting to steal the top-secret plans for the Death Star. Itโs a fantastically diverse cast, cut from the same cloth as the trailblazing Fast & Furious series, which have always featured Asian and African American leads.
โThe films are changing because the audience is changing, and the audience wants to feel represented,โ Luna, who plays a plucky rebellion Captain, told People. โToday you go to the cinema, and if youโre not looking at the screen, and you turn, you see that diversity there, you know? And that has to be portrayed in the frame.โ
โWe wanted to represent new parts of the world,โ Gareth Edwards, the director, added to Vulture. โStar Wars is so rich and it seems crazy that everyoneโs, like, a white male guy. Thatโs due to the 1970s and the fact that it was shot in Britain, but I was very lucky: Iโm British, I grew up in England, and I got to see myself represented in a film. I think itโs about time that we represented the rest of the world.โ
Itโs not just a question of racial diversity. The new and improved Star Wars universe celebrates female heroes, as well. Thatโs in part because of the addition of LucasFilm producer Kathleen Kennedy, who has made it her mission to produce female-led narratives within the franchise.
โ[Rey and Jyn] are empowered women that are not necessarily just taking on male characteristics, theyโre genuinely female heroes. Thatโs really important to the way we tell stories,โ Kennedy has said.
โIn Rogue One the irony is, [Jynโs] not necessarily a female hero, sheโs just a very strong, wonderful character. To highlight that as being something specific to being a womanโฆ Thatโs what I hope disappears over time; that weโre not constantly highlighting this as though itโs something unusual and that it just becomes the vernacular of storytelling.โ
As some have pointed out, Felicity Jonesโ Jyn may be an enlightened, independent heroine, but sheโs also the only one. In the film she finds herself โ quite literally โ alone, surrounded by other men. (In fairness, Jyn more than proves her mettle, exerting her confidence and agency with aplomb on many an occasion in the film. Sheโs a very worthy inheritor to Sigourney Weaver and Carrie Fisherโs mantle).
Furthermore, in what is becoming a fist-pumping throughline in the series, Rogue One does not have a romantic subplot. Jyn is not defined by her need, desire or lack thereof of a partner.
โIโve always been a feminist, and what I love in my work is being able to explore a full-sided woman and not patronise her,โ Jones told Glamour this month. โParticularly with Jyn, itโs such a rare opportunity to be able to play a female whoโs not just thinking about [romantic] relationships.โ
The future โ hell, the force โ is female.
So you knew about the pay gap, but did you know about the Wikipedia gender gap?
In probably not surprising news given women remain under represented in politics and senior corporate business, the BBC discovered that only 17 per cent of notable Wikipedia pages are about women, and just 15 per cent of the websiteโs volunteer editors are female.
Which wasnโt going to do at all. So the BBC (yet another reason to love their work) ran a 12-hour edit-a-thon which encouraged users to add articles about inspirational women to help to close the gender gap online.
Launching in 13 countries, the #100womenwiki event saw editors and contributors around the world โ including actress and Prince Harryโs girlfriend Meghan Markle โ add unrepresented women to the site and editing articles to improve the coverage of women.
Some of the profiles created during the project include Fatuma Ali Saman, a teacher and important figure in the fight for the rights of women and their representation in Kenya; Laura Coryton, the woman who campaigned to get the tax on tampons overturned in the UK; and Ieshia Evan, the civil rights activist in the legendary protest photo in Louisiana.
Markle nominated Suhani Jalota, who has received recognition for improving the lives of young Indian women by reforming public health in slums.
โHer example is one of global positive change,โ Markle said. Jalotaโs start-up, the Myna Foundation, produces sanitary products to improve womenโs health and trains women to be entrepreneurs who can run franchise businesses.
According to Wikimedia UK, the edit-a-thon broke records for โthe highest number of entries about women added to Wikipedia in a single eventโ.
Mascara is one of those beauty products few women like to leave the house without โ and yet, the search for a good one can last a lifetime. Finding a formula that coats lashes evenly, doesnโt clump, volumises and lengthens, but still looks (at least a little) natural and wonโt leave little dots of black around the eyes? No easy task.
Weโre used to beauty brands making big claims, but this one, if recent research is correct, isnโt too far off the mark: the Too Faced Better Than Sex, $33, happens to be the best-selling mascara worldwide (as to whether itโs better than sex, wellโฆ weโll let you be the judge).
What sets it apart from the hundreds of other mascaras on the market? According to Too Faced, itโs all about the unusual hourglass-shaped brush (inspired by Marilyn Monroe, as it happens), which separates, coats and curls each lash to perfection.
The collagen-rich formula can be layered for dramatic effect โ try one coat for day, two coats for night and three coats for when you really want to make an impact.
In related Too Faced news, the brand is adding a brow product to their collection that smells like โ prepare to swoon โ freshly baked brownies. Yep โ theyโre launching Chocolate Brow-nie Pencils infused with real cocoa powder. This brand just gets us.
Erin McNaught has opened up about suffering a miscarriage.
The model, 34, appeared on The Morning Show on December 13 and revealed she miscarried last month after being pregnant with her second baby.
McNaught, whoโs married to rapper Example (Elliot John Gleave), described her loss as โheartbreakingโ, but said the couple still have plans to try for another child in the future.
โWe definitely want another baby,โโ she said.
โI sadly had a miscarriage last month, which is, weโre totally fine, itโs just one of those things thatโs unfortunately really, really common,โ she shared.
While the couple shared the sad experience, McNaught she hopes that speaking openly about her familyโs loss will encourage others to do the same.
โFor me, I found solace in knowing how common it was, because once I got talking, you realise just how many people are affected by it,โ she said.
โIf I could find solace in that and I think if more people spoke about it, then it might not be as tough for people to go through it.โ
The Australian model and rapper Example, also 34, share two-year-old son Evander Maxwell.

A Syrian refugee who fled his war-torn country has today received a 96.65 Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) just two years after learning English.
Saad Al-Kassab and his family fled Syria to Egypt via Lebanon before eventually seeking refuge in Australia in 2013.
Three years later he graduated as dux of Catholic Regional College Sydenham in Melbourneโs north-west.
โI felt really happy. I was just overwhelmed,โ Saad told ABC.
โIโm really grateful for being given the opportunity to be able to come to Australia and study here. Despite all the difficulties, I was given a new life.โ
In 2014 his lack of English-speaking skills made it difficult to get into a school in Australia and he took a job as a gardener at a school.
Saad taught himself English using his fatherโs dictionary and watching Question Time in Federal Parliament. โThe way they speak, they speak proper English. They speak slowly, so you can catch words,โ he said.
Saad has now been offered a scholarship at Monash Universty and hopes to study biomedicine or medicine.
Before fleeing Syria, Saadโs school had been turned into a refugee camp, and to continue his education, he and his brother Omar would have to travel through checkpoints to makeshift exam centres, reports Seven News.
The brothers are now a part of Scouts Victoria, and recently appeared in a video outlining the work they did as part of the Syrian Scouts which helped provide food and aide to those affected by the war.
โWe acted as distributors of the international aide and collected food for the displaced people in Syria,โ Omar said in a Scouts Victoria video.

Some of the worldโs most beautiful women have shared seriously enviable pictures from their vacation in the Bahamas. Bella Hadid, Emily Ratatowski, Alessandra Ambrosio plus a host of Victoriaโs Secret models and Hailey Baldwin have taken to Instagram to post from the tropical location.

When theyโre not soaking up the sun on the beach or flaunting their figures, the bikini-clad beauties are jet-skiing as seen in Emilyโs picture captioned, โBella the ripper.โ
Hadid, 19, shared a few stunning images wearing this black crochet bikini, taken by fellow VS model Elsa Hosk.
By the looks of things, the models are all there to help promote a new festival coming soon called โFyre Festivalโ. The festival will take place on Fyre Cay, an island about an hour from Miami. The lineup hasnโt been announced yet, but it all sounds very exclusive and fabulous.
When you think of Katie Holmes, surely you think of fresh-faced Joey Potter in Dawsonโs Creek, or the feisty Samantha Mackenzie in the severely underrated First Daughter (fun fact: Forest Whitaker directed that film!)
Maybe, in a pinch, you think of Tom Cruise jumping on couches.
But do you think of brands including Quaker Oats, Breyerโs Gelato Indulgences and Nabisco? Because these three brands โ and more! โ are just a few of the companies that have secured the 37-year-old as the face of their many and varied products.
First up, Quaker Oats, who named Katie Holmes as the ambassador for their porridge awareness campaign Oatober, โa nationwide movement to celebrate the goodness and versatility of the humble oat.โ
Katie was hand-picked to spearhead the campaign by Quaker Oatsโ Chief Creative Oatmeal Officer (CCOO) Samantha Stephens, because she was โan oatmeal fanโ.
โOatmeal is one of my favourite breakfast choices because itโs delicious and packed with nutrition,โ Katie said in a statement at the time. โFor me, and I think for most families in America, Quaker is oatmeal.โ
As part of her ambassadorship, Katie nominated her favourite way to eat oatmeal. In case youโre wondering, itโs either in sweet form, with cashew milk and berries, or a more savoury variety, with truffle oil, sriracha and handfuls of seeds. โIt tastes like risotto,โ Holmes has said.
Next up for Katie was a fun activation on behalf of American snack food brand Nabisco. The company โ which sells products including Ritz crackers and Oreos โ celebrated its 115th anniversary in September, and who better to headline those festivities than Katie?
As part of her ambassadorship, Katie โsurprisedโ unsuspecting shoppers with Nabisco products in their baskets in supermarkets in Calabasas โ the breezy Californian neighbourhood best known as the home of the Kardashian matriarch Kris Jenner โ with $115. ($1 for every year Nabisco has been in business).
The campaign was all about bringing a moment of joy โ 115 of them, to be precise โ to shoppers, rewarding them for their support of the brand. And Katie, on her part, was very happy to be involved. โLove that happy face,โ she wrote on her Instagram, when presenting a shopper with Ritz crackers in her basket with a cheque for $115.
The next endorsement deal just might be the strangest yet. Breyerโs gelato indulgences is a boutique ice cream brand in America, and they definitely want to get on that Katie Holmes gravy train.
The brand set up a backstage area at the Independent Spirit Awards earlier this year for winners and presenters including Brie Larson, Marion Cotillard and Amy Adams, and they roped in Katie to pose with their sweet treats for a set of promotional images.
Just how much Katie pocketed for the Breyerโs deal is unclear, but just six months ago her net worth was estimated at $25 million US. Thatโs a lot of ice cream, oats and Ritz crackers, thatโs for sure.
Everyone has photos that make them cringe buried deep, deep within their Facebook profiles โ be it an unfortunate snap from schoolies or a pic from that brief period when Suprรฉ was LIFE.
But what if we told you Facebook was dredging up said photos at random and making it look like you were posting them today? Thatโs whatโs happening to unlucky Facebook users across the globe, along with old status updates (yes, it gets worse).
According to Gizmodo, the glitch has something to do with the Facebook Year in Review video option thatโs doing the rounds. And people are not happy โ not surprisingly given how humiliating this glitch could be.
Facebook is currently working to fix the problem, telling PCMag, โWe are aware of this and are investigating.โ In the meantime, it might just be safest to purge your account of anything you donโt want resurfacing any time soon.
Following Kim Kardashianโs terrifying ordeal in her Paris apartment, the reality star went on total lock-down. She has not posted on social media since the robbery, and posts on her website have been made via her assistant.
Sources were saying she was reevaluating her situation, her values and doing a complete overhaul of her life, but as she slowly creeps back into the social ether, weโre not so sure.
Last month, we had our first glimpse of the star in a racy shoot for German magazine 032c with sister Khloe. And it was peak-Kim Kardashian to say the least.

And now she has followed that up with another raunchy shoot, this one for LOVE magazine as part of the magazineโs famed advent calendar.
The 36-year-old stars in a video wearing nothing but Agent Provocateur lingerie and a fur coat as she pouts longingly at the camera in outer space, obviously. Classic Kim.
While weโre glad sheโs feeling better and getting back to work, we just kind of wish it was different.
Congratulations are in order for Sally Obermeder and husband, Marcus Obermeder, who welcomed the arrival of their second child via a surrogate on Monday.
The Daily Edition co-host shared the exciting news on Instagram today with a photo cradling new daughter, Elyssa Rose.
The couple and their 5-year-old daughter, Annabelle, left for the U.S. three weeks ago ahead of the birth.
Their decision for surrogacy came after it was deemed โfar too dangerousโ for Obermeder to become pregnant again due to her battle with breast cancer in 2011.
The 42-year-old was diagnosed with the illness at 41 weeks pregnant and given a clean bill of health after eight months of chemotherapy.
โIโve been told in no uncertain terms that itโs far too dangerous for me to be pregnant again, in terms of the cancer returning,โ she told New Idea prior to announcing their decision.
In July, the TV personality and her family shared they were expecting a second child via surrogacy on Instagram.
In the family photo, their daughter held a sign reading โIโm going to be a big sisterโ, alongside the caption: โYes itโs true. Thrilled to bits to share that @marcusobermeder and I are adding to our family thanks to the most incredible surrogate.โ

As much as weโd like to, weโre not usually in a position to steal the style of our favourite stars on the red carpet โ sadly, the budget doesnโt quite stretch to couture gowns costing upwards of $200,000.
So kudos to Bryce Dallas Howard for wearing a divine Topshop dress that she bought herself to the Criticsโ Choice Awards. The floor-length chartreuse design with black trim looked completely in step amid a sea of red carpet couture, but cost Howard just $US240 ($AUD320).
The star is making a habit of shopping for her own red carpet gowns, eschewing the services of a stylist in favour of forking out herself. She bought her own Jenny Packham dress for the 2016 Golden Globes and a Balmain Dress for last yearโs Criticsโ Choice Awards.
This year, however, she chose to buy a more budget-friendly option for the occasion. โItโs great, itโs comfortable,โ she told Entertainment Tonight. โItโs flowy, which is good for this time of year โ the holiday season.โ
Howard explained her unconventional approach to red carpet dressing to People earlier in the year, attributing it to her figure. โWhen youโre not โsampleโ size, or when you donโt have a direct relationship with a designer, or if you donโt have a lot of notice, those types of size six dresses just arenโt that available that much,โ she says.
Meghan Markle has opened up about the racism and online bullying she has received since her rise to fame on the hit show Suits.
The actress has penned a powerful essay for Elle UK about the online abuse she received after the showโs producers cast a black actor as her on-screen father.
โI remember the tweets when that first episode of the Zane family aired, then ran the gamut from: โWhy would they make her dad black? Sheโs not blackโ to โEw, sheโs black? I used to think she was hot.โโ
โThe reaction was unexpected, but speaks of the undercurrent of racism that is so prevalent, especially within America,โ she continued.
Meghan also opened up about a question she receives almost every day of her life: โWhat are you?โ
RELATED: Five Things You Need To Know About Meghan Markle
โโWell,โ I say, as I begin the verbal dance I know all too well. โIโm an actor, a writer, the Editor-in-Chief of my lifestyle brand The Tig, a pretty good cook and a firm believer in handwritten notes.โ A mouthful, yes, but one that I feel paints a pretty solid picture of who I am,โ she explained.
โBut hereโs what happens: they smile and nod politely, maybe even chuckle, before getting to their point, โRight, but what are you? Where are your parents from?โ I knew it was coming, I always do โฆ I give them what theyโre after: โMy dad is caucasian and my mom is African-American. Iโm half black and half white.โโ
Despite already being an established actress, entrepreneur and humanitarian in her own right, thereโs no doubt Meghan Markleโs relationship with Prince Harry has catapulted her into the global spotlight.
The racism was clearly something the actress had endured long before the high-profile relationship, but the situation became so serious that the Prince felt the need to release an unprecedented statement condemning the abuse.

The statement slammed the racist, sexist attitudes of the media and warned the media that โthis is not a gameโ and that a line has been โcrossedโ.
โSome of this has been very public โ the smear on the front page of a national newspaper; the racial undertones of comment pieces; and the outright sexism and racism of social media trolls and web article comments.
โSome of it has been hidden from the public โ the nightly legal battles to keep defamatory stories out of papers; her mother having to struggle past photographers in order to get to her front door; the attempts of reporters and photographers to gain illegal entry to her home and the calls to police that followed; the substantial bribes offered by papers to her ex-boyfriend; the bombardment of nearly every friend, co-worker, and loved one in her life.โ
A British backpacker has been rescued after reportedly being held captive in a car after she managed to text her location to her father back home in the UK.
Mary Kate Heys says she feared for the safety of a man she had met a few days before at the Backpacker hostel where she was staying.
When he woke her up in the middle of the night by the 22-year-old Swedish man, she says he was in a โmanic stateโ and wanted her to โgo on an adventureโ. Fearing for his safety she agreed to go with him but soon realised it was a mistake.
โHe said we were going to Brisbane on an adventure and I was really concerned, his eyes were all wide and I couldnโt tell if he was on drugs or not,โ she told The Courier Mail.
โHe kept talking about how โtheyโ were coming to get us and we had to get to Cairns to escape, I was so scared and I thought I was going to die.โโ
Ms Heys eventually convinced the man to stop at a petrol station so she could get a drink, where she asked the woman behind the counter to call police because the man she was with would not let her leave.
They continued to drive and when the police didnโt arrive she decided to try and text message her dad back home in the UK to call police.
She texted him a screen shot of her location in google maps.
โWhen the police car finally put its lights on I have never been so relieved in my life,โ she said. Ms Heys said as soon as her kidnapper slowed she leapt out of the car and ran.
โI didnโt even wait for it to stop moving, I just ran out because I was so terrified,โ she said.
A QPS spokesperson tells The Mirror that the man was then taken to the mental health unit of a hospital.
โBasically what happened was they have gotten in a car down at the Sunshine Coast and they have driven up to Gympie,โ the spokesman told The Mirror.
โShe has said that she was being held against her will. So it was a deprivation of liberty job. Police have then pulled the car over in Gympie.
โThey have spoken to both parties involved. He was then taken to the hospital but I believe he did go to the mental health unit there.
โThen the woman has told police she did not want any further action taken on it. Basically, not press any charges.
โThere is no further action from our end.โ
Teresa Palmer has welcomed her second child with husband Mark Webber, a baby boy named Forest Sage Palmer.
The Aussie actress took to Instagram to announce the news, writing โOur sweet littlest love is here ๐ Forest Sage Palmer was born yesterday in Adelaide on 12/12 at 12:18pm weighing 8lb 4oz and 20 inches long! Our hearts are so full and blessed.โ
The 30-year-old, who is already mother to two-year-old son Bodhi, kept fans up to date with her pregnancy via Instagram and her blog, Your Zen Mama.
Back in October, she opened up about complications she experienced during her first labour in which she underwent a home birth.
โI had a slight complication post birth with my placenta after Bodhi was born which is why I chose a hospital birth over a home birth this time round,โ she wrote.
โIt gives me the confidence to know that if anything at all goes wrong or the same issue arises then Iโm right there in a hospital setting and a doctor is only a floor away!โ
โIโm feeling calm and prepared as the weeks fly by,โ she says. โIโm truly open to whatever way this baby wants to come Earth side so I will welcome with open arms whatever experience we end up having.โ
An inquest into the death of a nine-year-old girl who died two-days after falling from a swing has heard that the child developed the injuries after her release from hospital.
Leila Baartse-Harkin was discharged from hospital hours after she fell from a swing and landed on her stomach at her East Fleurieu School in Strathalbyn, Adelaide. She died two days later on October 1, 2015 from a perforated small bowel as a result of abdominal trauma.
Womenโs and Childrenโs Hospital registrar Dr Amy McMellon appeared at the inquest to give evidence into the childโs death, telling Deputy State Coroner Anthony Schapel that she believed Leilaโs fatal bowel perforation developed after she was discharged, reports News.com.au.
โShe didnโt have that when I saw her,โ she said. โI know that she did not have it from my examination.โ
Leila was sent for X-rays and sought the advice of a senior doctor and they could not find a reason for the pain in her abdomen. They asked her to perform a jumpng test, which Dr McMellon says Leila โlaughed and giggled the whole way throughโ.
The court heard that Leila should have underwent a CT scan to check for a perforated bowel.
After Leila appeared to be improving, Dr McMellon said she โwas reporting that she had no more painโ, after being given two doses of pain medication.
She added that Leilaโs family were advised to seek further medical help if Leilaโs condition worsened, a claim the childโs mother, Edith Harkin, disputes.
The following day Leila was again vomiting, appeared weak and pale and continued to complain of abdominal pain and she was assessed by a GP on September 30.
The GP did doctor did not examine her abdomen, the inquest has been told.
Leilaโs condition worsened and the following morning her parents found her unresponsive and rushed her to hospital where they found the emergency department unattended.
โ(There were) no doctors thereโฆ I called triple-0 while we were there (and) two nurses came out (and started CPR),โ Leilaโs father, Ricky Harkin, said during the inquest last year.
Leila was pronounced dead at 8am.
โI feel like they [the health system] failed her,โ Mrs Harkin told the Sunday Mail last year.
โThe people that were working were under pressure, overworked โ there is such a strain on the health system. I feel like my daughter was a victim of that.โ
The inquest continues.
Blame it on the rise of neoprene as a fashion-forward fabric or our growing awareness of skin cancer, but one thingโs for sure: cover-ups are cool now.
Sleek, โ60s-style one-pieces have been gaining traction for a few summers now, but this new iteration takes things one step further. Presentingโฆ the rashie-style one-piece.
โThe style is on the rise for two reasons: one is the obvious that it has great sun protection and secondly โ they are super flattering,โ says marie claire fashion director Jana Pokorny. โWeโve seen plenty of rashie vest two-pieces but a one-piece makes more of a fashion statement.โ
Case in point: Une Piece, the Australian-made swimwear label by Brisbane-based mum-to-be Carly Brown. Une Pieceโs โoriginal sexy rashieโ, $195, attracted a 500-strong wait list of women wanting to preorder it over the weekend, according to news.com.au reports.
Need one now? Head to our sister site Styled By marie claire, where weโve rounded up seven similar styles you can shop now. And if you prefer a two-piece version, Jana recommends hitting up Seafollyโs stylish designs.
Right now, itโs all about a sparkling smile โ and Iโm not referring to your pearly whites (although give this a go and they will appear brighter).
If scrolling Instagram has required sunglasses lately, youโll know what I mean: models and celebs alike are parading glitter-coated pouts โ the lip equivalent of Dorothyโs ruby shoes in Wizard of Oz.
Itโs all thanks to make-up maestro Pat McGrath (see her dazzling creations here), whose Lust 004 lip kits, complete with pots of micro-fine glitter, sold out in seconds in the US.
Never one to say no to a dash (read: LOT) of sparkle, I turned to Carol Mackie, M.A.C Australia senior make-up artist, for a high-voltage how-to. Armed with Mackieโs instructions (see below), a pot of M.A.C Fuchsia glitter pigment (that may or may not now cover the floor of the marie claire beauty cupboardโฆ) and lip pencil, lipstick and gloss, I turned from this:
To this:
The finished product turned out to be more gleam than glitter, which has the advantage of being more wearable, but the disadvantage of being less, well, glittery. Also: I couldnโt eat anything for fear of imbibing half a pot of glitter pigment. Fine when youโre a model; not so fine when youโre accustomed to regular meals.
I wanted a ruby red glitter lip รก la Taylor Hill on the Atelier Versace runway, so Mackie suggested lining my lips first using the M.A.C Cherry Lip pencil, before filling in with M.A.C Russian Red Lipstick. Next, I was to dab on a little Lip Glass in Clear before pressing Fuchsia Glitter Pigment onto my lips with my finger (I ended up using the 316 Lip Brush for more control).
If you wanted a more plum/pink look, try the M.A.C Heroin Lipstick and Lip Pencil with the same Fuchsia glitter on top. But maybe have lunch first.

In the weeks since Donald Trump was elected President, racial hate crimes in the U.S have increased and the former leader of the Klu Klux Klan has applauded Trumpโs appointment of staffers who are examples of โwhite people taking back their governmentโ. Terrifyingly, new generations of white supremacists are feeling emboldened โ and high profile fashion models have been caught up in their hateful rhetoric, reports Racked.
Australian supermodel Gemma Ward is one of several beauties that has unknowingly become a poster girl in promotion of white supremacy, as hateful racists wage a social media campaign to illustrate that โwhites are superior to other races.โ
While some of the offensive accounts have since been shut down or blocked, Wardโs management have condemned the unauthorized usage of her image, with a spokesperson from IMG models telling Marie Claire that โthe images have definitely been used without her consentโ.
Swedish blogger Joana Grรถblinghoff was similarly outraged, telling Racked that the portrayal was โdisgusting โฆ. I was never asked for permission and this is not the way I want to see my face on the internet!โ
While there are no clear guidelines on what Twitter deems as hate speech, copy infringement is the only viable way to shut these sorts of accounts down.
โIf more people sued or threatened to sue for copyright infringement when their image is being re-appropriated by neo-Nazis, it could have a deterrent effect,โ Carrie Goldberg, a lawyer who deals with online harassment, told Racked.

Police have seized a mobile phone containing more than 100 photos and videos of women in the change room of a clothing store on the Sunshine Coast.
A 28-year-old British man has been arrested after he was allegedly caught filming a woman in the change room at the City Beach store located at Noosa Civic shopping centre.
Police allege that a shopper caught the man reaching his phone over the cubicle to take photos of a woman changing, the shopper then alerted other staff who called police, reports News Corp.
Police then seized his phone which contained more than 100 photos and videos โdepicting many different women in various stages of undressโ, according to Queensland Police.
โMany of the photographs appear to have been uploaded to a private Facebook account,โ a QPS spokesperson said.
Women who may have used the change rooms between November 18 and December 10 are being urged to contact police.
The man has been charged with 54 counts of recording in breach of privacy and is due to appear in court today.
Itโs one of the highest grossing โ and most epic films of all time โ buthere are some things you may not have known about James Cameronโs heart breaking masterpiece.
1. Beloved Leo and Kate werenโt the first picks for the lead roles.
Titanic could have looked very different with studios wanting Mathew McConaughey to play Jack, but James Cameron insisted on Leonardo Dicaprio. Other actresses considered to play Rose included Gwyneth Paltrow, Nicole Kidman, Madonna, Jodie Foster, Cameron Diaz and Sharon Stone.
2. Gloria Stuart, who played old Rose was the only person on set alive when the Titanic sunk in 1912.
She was also the oldest person, at 87, to be nominated for an Oscar.
3. Kate Winslet got pneumonia after filming the water scenes and almost quit production.
Kate was the only cast member to forgo a wet suit while filming the water scenes and almost quit production when she got pneumonia. Most of the scenes were filmed in pools with warmish water however the water used when Rose is looking for Jack in the flooded corridors of the ship was from the Pacific Ocean.
The scenes in the ocean after the ship has sunk also took place in a pool that was only 3 feet deep.
4. There actually was a J. Dawson on board the Titanic.
James Cameron discovered that there was a real J. Dawson who died on the Titanic after the script was finished. It was later revealed that the mystery Dawson was an Irishman who worked in the engine room. He is buried in Halifax with a gravestone, where multiple victims of the tragedy are buried and since he was discovered fans have been known to leave flowers and tributes.
5. James Cameron is the artist behind Jackโs drawings.
Although not surprising that Leonardo Dicaprio isnโt the one responsible for Jackโs drawings, you may be delighted to find that Director James Cameron is. Itโs his hands that are filmed sketching Rose and he is also the talent behind the rest of Jackโs sketches.
6. โI want you to draw me like one of your French girlsโฆโ
One of the most famous and memorable scenes in the film was also the first shot, way back when Kate and Leo werenโt the besties they are today and had just met. To break the ice and to dilute the awkwardness that comes with baring your hot bod to a stranger whilst being filmed, Kate flashed Leo on set prior to filming.
Leo was then so nervous during that scene that instead of saying โlie on that couch,โ he said โlie on that bed, I mean couchโ and it was adorable so James Cameron kept it.
7. The piece of wood that Rose floats on is based on an actual artefact.
If you find yourself screaming at the television for Rose to shove over every time you watch the movies tragic finale and want to speculate more as to whether 2 people could have fit on that piece of wood, you could check it out in person. The wood that Rose floats on is based on an actual artefact that survived the sinking and is on display at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Bonus: Other aspects of the film that were true IRL-
8. The cast and crew ended up high on the final day of shooting after a chowder spiking incident.
A few unknown people spiked the clam chowder served to the cast and crew with PCP, otherwise known as angeldust, symptoms of which include vivid hallucinations, landing 80 people in hospital.
9. โIโm the king of the world,โ was totally improvised.
Hats off to Leo for winging one of the most famous and memorable lines in cinematic history. The line was completely improvised, as were many others in the film as cameron was a big fan of ad-libbing. The scene where Rose thanks Jack for saving her and he teaches her to โspit like a man,โ was almost entirely improvised. Kate Winslet then took inspiration from this when Rose tries to escape from Cal while the ship is sinking. She spits in his face and Billy Zane (who plays Cal) was not informed of this spontaneous script change.
Still one of the best ever screen couples from an amazing movie.

Jennifer Lawrence has been on a serious style-streak during the promotional tour of her upcoming sci-fi thriller Passegners in which she stars alongside Chris Pratt.
The Oscar-winning actress has been mixing things up on the red carpet, with looks from her old favourite Dior, as well as throwing in some Proenza Schouler, Givenchy and Dolce and Gabbana for good measure.
Sheโs also been playing with styles: eg. a sweater with a tulle ball gown and prints from red leopard to black and white polka dots. Sheโs even been having fun with her beauty look โ popping in some blonde extensions.
And over the weekend Jen stepped out for a photocall in Hollywood and she threw yet another fashion curve ball at us.
Rocking a playful Altuzarra cherry-print cami with a dark floral midi, Jen shows us exactly how to pair clashing prints.
Jen also ditched the extensions and has gone back to the lob โ the perfect way to finish off this playful look.

Ever wondered what the Trump family children were like as tiny tots?
Excerpts from Ivanka Trumpโs 2009 self-help book The Trump Card (endorsed by Anna Wintour, no less) have come to light, thanks to an intrepid journalist at The New Yorker.
And they will make you see her in a completely new light.
For example, this, on opening a lemonade stand as a child: โWe had no such advantages,โ Ivanka Trump wrote in the book, referring to the fact that she was forbidden to set up her stand outside Trump Tower, then her childhood home. Ivanka and her brothers Eric and Donald Jr settled instead for stumping outside their summer home in Connecticut, but soon realised a grave error: the neighbourhood was so fancy nobody was walking around on the streets.
โAs good fortune would have it, we had a bodyguard that summer,โ Ivanka added. The New Yorker adds that the Trump children โpersuadedโ their bodyguard, driver and maids to โ[dig] deep for spare change,โ and buy their lemonade. All the kids learnt an important lesson that day, Ivanka noted. โ[To make] the best of a bad situation.โ
And then thereโs this, on attending the elite private school Choate in Connecticut: โ[It was an opportunity] to look at the world from a whole new angle. Even if it meant living in a building names for someone else!โ
The New Yorker goes deeper into the book, identifying the moment in the book when she says she decided she had to become financially independent (when her mother forced her to fly economy to the south of France for a holiday as a child). Ivanka also names Roger Aisles โ disgraced former Fox News executive fired for sexual harassment โ as a mentor. Andrew Cuomo, โNew Yorkโs great attorney generalโ apparently chillingly advised in the book that โe-mail is the key to prosecuting just about everyone these days.โ
The Trump Card was by no means the end of Ivankaโs career as an author. The First Daughter has a new book out next year โ Women Who Work: Rewriting The Rules For Success โ and we canโt wait to see what gems will be unearthed from its pagesโฆ
A toddler with a deadly condition was turned away from the hospital three times before finally getting treatment at a Wollongong hospital, according to his mother.
Channel 9 News reports that three-year-old Hamza is currently in a critical condition. His mother, Sheima Morsi eventually called an ambulance after he was refused treatment three times and her son stopped breathing after having a seizure.
When he was brought to hospital and admitted to emergency, he was placed on life support, then flown to Sydney Childrenโs Hospital. He was then diagnosed with sepsis, an infection that had spread throughout his body.
โHis whole body was just pale white,โ Ms Morsi told 9NEWS. โI was really desperate to see someone. My son was in my hands, he was just all floppy.โ
Ms Morsi was told, โIf you werenโt persistent that day, your son would have died that nightโ.
She told 9 News that she felt horrible about how long it had taken to get him treatment.
โKids at this age canโt talk, so weโre responsible for them,โ she said.
โI felt like Iโve let him down by not (being) able to get my voice heard.โ
News.com.au reached out to Wollongong Hospital for a statement about the incident, and a spokeswoman replied with the following:
โWollongong Hospital takes seriously any concerns raised by patients or their families.
โThe hospital is carrying out an investigation into the circumstances of this particular case and will continue to liaise directly with the family.โ
Hamza is showing some signs of improvement and is expected to stay in hospital over the coming weeks.
As a parent (or an aunty/uncle/friend) itโs always hard to know what toys to buy children. What toys will promote a healthy body image, provide an educational element, are socially acceptable โ while also being something the little one will actually enjoy and want to play with.
Itโs tough. And with Christmas approaching itโs a conundrum on many peopleโs to-do lists.
The Good Education Group is the latest in a long line of organisations joining the movement โNo Gender Decemberโ which was established in 2014 by advocacy group Play Unlimited, and is urging parents to avoid gender-stereotyping through toys and presents this year and to โBuy a boy a Barbieโ.
โEncourage parents to try and de-gender their presents โ the best present for your daughter this Christmas may not necessarily be a nerf gun, but rather a โJewelbot,โ a โRoominate setโ or โGoldiebloxโ,โ Chief executive officer of The Good Education Group, Chris Lester, tells the Herald Sun.
RELATED: The Latest Gender Pay Gap Figures Are In. And Theyโre Not Good.
The campaign hopes to stamp out gender stereotypes which extend from the segregated โboysโ and โgirlsโ sections of the toyshops to the workplaces of the Western world.
โAccording to those behind the No Gender December campaign, the movement correlates with the perception that STEM (Science, technology, engineering and maths) are fields dominated by men and avoided by women, and just as toy stores typically separate โgirlsโ from โboysโ toys, workplaces tend to be sharply divided between โpinkโ and โblueโ jobs,โ added Mr Lester.
โThereโs an exciting new wave of gender-neutral toys designed to encourage more girls to develop fundamental skills in maths and science beyond stereotypes. It might not be a quick fix but getting behind No Gender December is a good start to redressing this imbalance.โ
According to the latest Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) figures released in November, of 9,276 female graduates in 2014-15, most stuck to female-dominated industries including health care and social assistance.
โOur data shows that in the last 12 months male graduates still overwhelmingly entered male-dominated industries and female graduates entered female-dominated industries,โ WGEA director Libby Lyons told news.com.au.
โIf the gender balance of graduates entering an industry closely matches the existing gender dominance, it means existing patterns of segregation are unlikely to shift in the foreseeable future.
โThere is now overwhelming research showing gender diversity encourages innovation, different thinking and new approaches to problem-solving. Some industries recognise this and we are seeing great initiatives to attract more women into scientific and technical careers, but encouraging men into female-dominated jobs is equally important.โ
Ryan Reynolds captured the Internetโs hearts when this *clearly* set-up photo circulated of Taylor Swift cuddling with Tom Hiddleston and a bewildered looking Ryan Reynolds sitting with wife Blake Lively. And now we finally know the reason why his face looked soโฆunimpressed.
RELATED: The Story Behind Blake Lively And Taylor Swiftโs Friendship
People thought that he was every boyfriend whose girlfriend tries to take a cutesy photo of them, and the Internet exploded with reactions.
But now Ryan Reynolds has spoken out about the photo in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly. When asked what was going on in his head at the time, he said really he just didnโt know the photo was being taken.
โIf Iโm not aware a photo is being taken, my natural resting face is one of a man dying,โ he said. โI had no idea somebody was taking a photo. Therefore I was resting comfortably in my persona of a man whose soul is visibly exiting this earth.โ

An eighteen-month old baby girl has been found drowned in a backyard pool in Sydney.
7 News reports that the one-year-old was pulled from the water at Raby in Sydneyโs southwest on Sunday afternoon.
Though she was taken to Campbelltown hospital, she had gone into cardiac arrest, and she was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.
Police are currently investigating the incident, and preparing a report for the Coroner.
This is the second drowning in a pool in that area in the past couple of months. The last incident occurred when a six-year-old boy was pulled from the water of a backyard pool in Raby in October.
