A six-year-old Melbourne schoolgirl has won the right to wear pants to school, after originally being told that she had to wear a tunic in winter.
Year one student Asha Cariss likes to play sport but finds it difficult while wearing a heavy winter dress and stockings. However, her request to wear trousers was rejected by her school, Our Lady of the Nativity in Aberdeldie.
Ashaโs mother, Simone, launched an online petition to overturn the decision.
As a result, the schoolโs principal Anne Doherty said there had been a miscommunication and it hadnโt been a blanket โnoโ.
The school has decided to review their uniform policy and Asha will be allowed to wear pants until a decision has been made.

Bella Hadid might have jetted out of Australian fashion week, taking her reported $260,000 pay cheque with her. But those fearing a lack of star power on the runway in her absence at the remaining shows have had their concerns assuaged today, with the announcement that not one, but two *major* models are on their way to walk the runway at MBFWA.
Homegrown Victoriaโs Secret Angel Shanina Shaik and Canadian supermodel Winnie Harlow are en route to Sydney, ready to add some A-list sparkle to the catwalk this week
Canadian model Winnie Harlow will also be appearing at MBFWA
Those seeking Shaik will be able to find her exclusively on the Oscar de la Renta runway on Friday. The 25-year-old is not only opening the show โ which will officially close MBFWA on Friday โ but will also be appearing at the brandโs after party that evening. Shaik is no stranger to the brand, having walked for Oscar de la Renta in 2012. Since then, sheโs dominated both the international show circuit โ think: Chanel, Tom Ford โ the Victoriaโs secret catwalk (four star turns and counting so far) as well as jetting back to Australia periodically to appear at events for brands like Myer.
Winnie Harlow, however, will appear as the guest of Bambi Northwood-Blyth and Dan Singleโs P.Jame. Sheโll be walking in the brandโs much-anticipated first runway show tomorrow night at The Ivy Boudoir.
Itโs the first trip to Australia for the 21-year-old, who made her name in 2011 when she was just 17 by appearing in a Youtube video entitled โVitiligo: A Skin Condition Not A Life Changerโ. โPeople have black skin, people have brown skin, I have both,โ she said proudly in the clip.
Since then, sheโs gone on to become one of the most popular contestants on Americaโs Next Top Model, fronted campaigns for Diesel and Desigual and staring in Beyonceโs Lemonade visual album alongside Serena Williams and Amanda Stenlberg, an opportunity she reveals she almost turned down. โI was actually contacted by their [Beyonceโs] team a couple weeks prior but my agent at the time didnโt get back to them because they wouldnโt tell us much about the project,โ she recalled recently in an interview with Billboard.
I've never been to Australia before guysโฆ What's UP down under??

Ballet has suffered from a diversity problem since its conception in the 15th and 16th centuries, and for a long time, there has only been a small range of โnudeโ colours of leotards and ballet shoes to suit primarily white performers. However, the good news is that designers are finally getting on board with diverse dance apparel. One dance apparel company has made a series of โnudeโ leotard colours to suit dancers of all different skin colours.
Designer Whitney Bracey, who has mainly dealt with swimwear in the past, has created a line of dance apparel aimed at dancers of colour, which sheโs named Mahogany Blues.
โWe are here to remind dancers of colour of their value in an industry that has been colour blind for too long,โ is the companyโs mantra.
Mahogany Blues sells leotards in four different shades of nude: Amina, Mulan, Jasmine and Tiana. But they arenโt stopping there! They will be releasing two more colours by the end of the year.
The demand for these colours has been a long time coming, following the trend of dyeing shoes and leotards to better suit peopleโs colour. Ballet dancer Eric Underwood has previously spoken about this to BBC, appealing to dance companies to make different colours of shoes.
โI have to โpancakeโ my shoes with makeup before I can go on stage,โ Underwood said. โItโs a messy process that can take as long as half an hour at a time, and I need to repeat it regularly because the colour rubs off during performances.โ
Since then, dance apparel company Bloch has expanded its range of shoe colours.
Hopefully Braceyโs bold move will inspire other companies to expand their ranges. As Bracey told BuzzFeed, โItโs so important for little girls and boys to see themselves represented in all career fields.โ

When scenes call for nudity, itโs not uncommon for actors to use body doubles. Emilia Clarke is not one of those actors.
The actress sent Game of Thrones fans into a frenzy Sunday night when her character, Daenerys Targaryen, escaped from the Dothraki leaders by setting their hut on fire, trapping them inside with her and emerging from it alone, completely nude and unburnt.
The nude body GOT fans saw on screen was actually Clarkeโsโnot a body doubleโand sheโs fine if everyone knows it. Clarke told Entertainment Weekly, โItโs so exciting, very tingly-making. Every season I get at least one spine-chilling moment.
โIโd like to remind people the last time I took my clothes off was season 3. That was awhile ago. Itโs now season 6. But this is all me, all proud, all strong. Iโm just feeling genuinely happy I said โYes.โ That ainโt no body double!โ

Itโs the scenario every parent dreads: that a young child will be diagnosed with cancer.
In the aftermath of such a tragic diagnosis, difficult decisions must be made, all while parents are dealing with a sick child โ and their own shock.
For one Australian family, these decisions are currently being made in a courtroom in Perth.
This week a family court judge will decide whether a six-year-old Perth boy must have radiotherapy against the wishes of his parents.
Oshin Kiszko was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumour in December, but his parents opposed chemotherapy and radiotherapy due to possible side effects, which can include reduced cognitive ability. Generally, experts say, the younger the child, the greater the side effects.
In March Oshinโs medical team at Princess Margaret Hospital went to court over his parents decision to withhold treatment. After a court order enforced treatment, Oshin underwent chemotherapy.
His parents have been back in court again this week, this time to prevent Oshin undergoing radiation therapy.
During eight hours of testimony, the barrister representing Oshinโs parents, Andrew Skerritt, told the court that his clients were willing to go ahead with more oral chemotherapy, noting there had been a response to the treatment.
However, they remained concerned by the possible side effect of radiation, reports news.com.au.
The court heard that Oshin would have a 30 to 40 per cent chance of survival in five yearsโ time if he received both chemotherapy and radiation. Without the radiotherapy, he would only live for another six to 12 months.
Family Court Chief Judge Stephen Thackray Thackray described the case as an โexceedingly difficult matterโ and โa matter of life and deathโ. His decision is due back this week.

Over the weekend, a horrifying case was reported to come out of the US in which a 40-year-old woman recorded her own murder at the hands of her partner on her mobile phone. The woman, Wesley Webb, was shot during a domestic argument with her 43-year-old partner, Keith Robert Smith, and activated an audio recording program on her phone just before it happened.
Police say that the recording includes the sound of a gunshot, and the shouts of Keith at Wesley. When Wesley activates the recording, Keith can be heard saying, โYou want to record it now, bitch?โ After firing the gun, he yells, โF*** you! Howโs that? Thatโs where we just wentโ.
Keith Robert Smith. Image: Chester County District Attorneyโs Office
The couple have three children, all under 14, and police arrived at the scene after one of the children called the emergency line.
In a statement released by the police, Chester County District Attorney Thomas Hogan said, โThis was a savage, selfish and cowardly murder.โ
Keith Robert Smith was found at the scene of the crime alive, and has since been hospitalised and charged with murder, homicide, child endangerment and a weapons crime.
This sickening case highlights one of the key issues surrounding domestic violence โ why it is so hard for women to leave a violent relationship. There is a stigma surrounding women who stay in abusive relationships, yet in America, women are 70 times more likely to be killed in the two weeks after leaving their partner than at any other time in the relationship. There are many complex factors at play, and this case represents a single example of a pleading cry for help from the inside.

How do you stand out amidst all the noise of fashion week? One way is to whisper not shout, as new Australian label Albus Lumen does with its understated, quietly beautiful clothes.
But it does help if everyone else is yelling about your gloriousness from the rooftops. Casting Lara Worthington as your โfaceโ will help with that.
โLara and I have been friends for a long time,โ says Marina Afonina, the stylist-turned-designer behind the label, which presented its collection via a photographic exhibition instead of a runway show at MBFA today.
โIt was a no-brainer to have Lara front the campaign โ obviously sheโs stunning, but she is also the perfect representation of the Albus Lumen woman: Lara has an innate sense of style and is the ultimate Australian girl. Her being a mum makes it even better โ my brand is for all women, not just the younger market.โ
So what on earth does Albus Lumen mean? โItโs Latin for โwhite lightโ,โ laughs Afonina. โThe aesthetic of the label is drawn from a sense of effortlessness, unifying simple shapes and classic modernity, using a combination of earthy tones and luxe fabrications, the Resort collection is a nod to the European summer and craftsmanship, epitomising minimal edge and relaxed style. Inspired by European summers, Albus Lumen, the brand is about confidence in simplicity.โ
And if white light were a woman right now, it would be Worthington.

If youโre concerned about the very real possibility that Donald Trump could be the next president of the US, then youโre not the only one. Amongst other public figures, Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Lawrence have both described their concern about Trump, for different reasons.
Angelina Jolie, who is the special envoy of the UNโs High Commissioner for Refugees, spoke at a migration event in London, coordinated by the BBC, to address issues concerning the worldโs refugee crisis.
When she was asked to comment on Donald Trumpโs call to temporarily ban Muslims from coming to the United States, she closed her eyes and shook her head solemnly, and gave her answer.
โTo me, America is built on people from around the world coming together for freedoms, especially freedom of religion. So itโs hard to hear this is coming from someone who is pressing to be an American president.โ
Meanwhile, Jennifer Lawrence recently appeared on the BBCโs Graham Norton Show and had two (slightly less eloquent) words to say about Donald Trump.
โI was at a concert where I heard he was attending, so I had my full security team, I was like โfind Donald Trump,'โ Jennifer said.
โI was adamant on finding him and making a video of me going, โHey Trump, fโ you!โ
You can watch the full interview (also featuring Johnny Depp) here:
Jennifer Lawrence has previously made it known that, though she was raised a Republican supporter, she has since stopped supporting the party because they do not generally advocate for womenโs rights.

Kate Middleton has done a lot of things in high heels โ for instance, sheโs done archery, played soccer and run around with perfect balance on her recent royal trip to India. But most recently, sheโs done boxing for charity in a most elegant shirt, skirt and high heel ensemble.
Kate has joined forces with her husband, Prince William, and his brother, Prince Harry to attend the inaugural Heads Together event, which brings together charities that provide services for people with mental illnesses to seek help.
So why was she boxing? World champion boxer Duke McKenzie MBE was there with the team from mental health charity Mind, and helped the royals to de-stress by encouraging them to throw a few punches at the mat with some boxing gloves on!
Kate Middleton was keen to get involved, and Duke even said she had a โmean right jabโ afterwards.
She looked elegant in a white Goat blouse, a geometric print skirt from Banana Republic and Rupert Sanderson heels. As always with the Kate Middleton effect, the skirt is now sold out!
Kate Middletonโs beautiful style never fails! We wonder what sheโll wear nextโฆ

File this under: finally! An all-female superhero movie has just been announced, and who better to head up the film than our very own Margot Robbie?
The 25-year-old Australian actress will take top billing in the untitled ensemble piece, reprising her forthcoming, much-anticipated role as Harley Quinn, the sassy, slightly zany, baseball-bat wielding bad girl in Suicide Squad, one of the many films slated for release in the coming years featuring roles from the DC comic universe (think: iconic characters like Batman and Superman).
Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad (Credit: Warner Bros)
And if that isnโt enough, The Hollywood Reporter reports that Robbie will not only star but produce this epic blockbuster after pitching the concept to Hollywood bigwigs herself, stressing the importance of kickass female anti-heroines onscreen.
Robbie and an unnamed female screenwriter have worked on the script together. News about who will co-star in the ensemble piece is yet to surface, but the rumour mill hints that some of the other characters that will feature alongside Robbieโs Harley Quinn include Batgirl, Poison Ivy (once immortalised onscreen by Uma Thurman in Batman Forever) and Birds of Prey.
And, letโs not forget the undisputed queen of the DC universe: Wonder Woman. Next year, Israeli actress Gal Gadot will star in the first in what is expected to be a long line of Wonder Woman films. Can we expect to see an epic battle of good vs. evil โ with Robbie and Gadot squaring up against each other a la Batman vs. Superman โ in Robbieโs all-female superhero movie? Weโre keeping our fingers crossed.

A holiday feel infused many of the day's shows - though a couple of designers (we're looking at you Georgia Alice and Misha) opted for more of a nightclub mood
With MBFWA newly re-branded Resort Collections, designers are asking themselves what, exactly, that should look like on the runway. Is it about high summer? Or introducing Swim? More prints? More white?
Sometimes referred to as Cruise, Resort is a โshoulderโ or โpreโ season that picks up where Spring /Summer left off before Autumn/Winter is ready to drop.
Traditionally, it was about selling holiday gear to the jet-setting elite, because these collections land in stores in November, when northern Europe and much of the US is freezing. The only customers there in need of white palazzo pants were those who habitually wintered in tropical playgrounds.
But in todayโs global fashion world, Resort has wider appeal. These clothes suit sunnier climes, so sell well in Asia and South America. Plus they have a longer shelf life than the other seasons โ from November to March.
All this suits Australian designers looking to sell internationally. Hot weather fashion in November? Well, dur โ weโre on that.
Ginger and Smart, who showed on Monday morning, say that for them Resort โ16 means โlighter, more fluid silhouettes with a definite holiday feel.โ
To underline that statement, their first look โ a white โlace long-sleeved swimsuitโ from their new swimwear capsule โ was accessorised with a sunhat so big the model could have pitched it as a tent. And indeed the designersโ ideas were on a similar grand scale โ no local jaunt to the beach for them; they were inspired by โthe earthโs reflection from spaceโ.

Newcomer Albus Lumen was in vacation mode, showing loose and lovely dresses, playsuits, wide-leg pants and what can best be described as robes in airy silks, linens and butter-soft suedes. If Misha Collection was going anywhere, it was a nightclub โ her sassy girl gang led by Bella Hadid wore only black, nude and gold. New Zealander Georgia Alice was out all night too โ starting her show with a laser light effect and models in almost total darkness. When we finally did get to see what they were wearing, it was fabulous โ sheโs one to watch.
Others played with summery, sherbet colours and holiday prints. Yeojin Baeโs were candy brights. At Aje, there was a standout leaf print in swimming pool blues.
Yellow (alas notoriously difficult to wear) was everywhere. Maticevksi tempered his on Sunday with ice blue and white, but Rebecca Vallance was unequivocal โ it was pineapple hues top-to-toe. Easier to pull off, but equally evocative of a days in the sun, were her striped dresses. The best example was off-the-shoulder, with a festive little ruffled skirt.
There was yellow at Dion Lee too โ an icy lemon satin edged with clear crystals. Lee ended the day on a major trip โ rocketing guests up to a rooftop garden on the 28th floor of the Bloomberg Building. His collection was beautiful โ dancing with light, and building on the new ease heโs been displaying the last couple of seasons. Lee doesnโt have anything to prove anymore โ heโs just brilliant.

Gigi Hadidโs little sister Bella Hadid made waves in Australia last night when she dropped in from Cannes to walk the runway at the Misha Collection Resort 17 show for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia.
Some outlets have estimated that she would have been paid several hundred thousands of dollars, with one believing she may have received up to $USD291,760!
Bella loved walking in show, saying: โI want to literally wear everything from this collection,โ she said. โI literally wore an evening dress today with tennis shoes and it still looked cool.โ

Kate Moss made her first Cannes Film Festival red carpet appearance since 2001, and after 15 years, she stills know how to turn heads. The model wore a red, flowing Halston gown, paired with jewellery by Chopard to the premiere of Loving.
In crimson, the shade of the dress almost edges between red and orange, and certainly made a statement.
She wore her hair in a sophisticated bun to complement the look.
Kate Mossโ half-sister, Lottie Moss, also rocked red for the red carpet, wearing a stunning Dior gown.

A 20-something woman was approved to go ahead with euthanasia because she couldnโt live with the suffering of having been abused any longer.
The woman, a former victim of child sex abuse, suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), according to the Dutch Euthanasia Commission.
She also suffered from anorexia, chronic depression and hallucinations as a result of the abuse.
Under law in The Netherlands, doctors may perform euthanasia on anyone with โunbearable sufferingโ. Doctors judged the woman to be โtotally competentโ but said her suffering was incurable.
The case has sparked global controversy, and prompted debate among ethicists. In recent years there has been a rise in the number of euthanasia deaths in The Netherlands due to mental health problems, from two people in 2010 to 56 people last year.
The woman, who was not named but suffered abuse between the ages of five and 15, was given a lethal injection.
Australian psychiatrist and mental health campaigner Professor Ian Hickie told news.com.au that the girlโs euthanasia was โentirely inappropriateโ.
He told news.com.au: โIt makes all sorts of poorly substantiated assumptions about causation, available treatments, supportive care and prognosis. It really demonstrates how the current concepts around euthanasia cannot be applied to mental illnessโ.
The idea of assisted suicide for people with mental illness will be debated later this year in Australia at a conference in Melbourne.
If you would like to speak to someone about depression or mental health call Lifeline (131 114) or Beyond Blue (1300 22 4636).

Remember Nancy Drew? Of course you do: that series of detective novels you used to binge read as a teenager revolving around a plucky teenage heroine and her two best friends solving crimes and besting the local police. The books are some of the most popular young adult crime novels every produced, and have since been turned into a film starring Emma Roberts in the title role.
This year, a much-hyped television show was set to be released on major American network CBS, starring half Iranian, half Spanish actress Sarah Shahi as a grown-up Drew, making good use of her uncanny observational skills at the NYPD.
The showโs pilot filmed earlier in the year from a script penned by two former screenwriters of Greyโs Anatomy, and tested well with audiences both male and female.
But youโre never going to get to see a kickass Nancy Drew narrative for adults on the small screen. Why? Because CBS cancelled the show before it even made it to air, deeming the series โtoo femaleโ for its programming schedule, The Hollywood Reporter reports.
Yes, really. Fans took to Twitter to vent their outrage, petitioning CBS to reconsider, with the hashtags #NancyDrew and #TooFemale soon trending. โWhy is too female an acceptable criticism?โ one wrote, while comedian Jen Kirkman joked that โIt skewed too โ51% of the populationโ.
Shahi thanked the fans for โall the loveโ she received in the wake of todayโs announcement, adding that โI believe we need strong female role models. She def could have been one.โ

Women have thrown their support behind a British receptionist who was sent home from work after showing up without high heels.
Last week 27-year-old Londoner Nicola Thorpe was told she needed to change into two-inch heels after turning up for her first day at professional accountancy firm PricewaterhouseCoopers in flats.
After refusing to buy a pair of heels, she was sent home without pay.
The backlash was swift, with politicians and feminist groups leaping to Thorpeโs defence.
On Friday morning, womenโs rights charity The Fawcett Society launched the hashtag #FawcettFlatsFriday, and encouraged women to post photos of their flats at work.
Hundreds of women duly posted pictures of their flat shoes on social media, including UK Labor MP Stella Creasy and Womenโs Equality party founder Catherine Mayer.

An online petition calling for the law to be changed to prevent companies from requiring women to wear high heels has already attracted over 135,000 signatures.
Meanwhile, PricewaterhouseCoopers has insisted it does not require women to wear high heels โ even tweeting its support of The Fawcett Societyโs social media campaign.

Itโs been hard to avoid how Donald Trump speaks about women in the public sphere โ heโs called Hillary Clinton an โenablerโ of Bill Clintonโs affairs, said that heโd fire Rosie OโDonnell for her โfat, ugly faceโ, and even suggested that if Ivanka Trump werenโt his daughter, heโd probably be dating her (yes, really).
But The New York Timeshas recently exposed how Trump treats women in his private life โ whatโs said behind closed doors, and when the cameras arenโt around โ in a series of 50 in-depth interviews with dozens of women who have known him personally.
The result? Letโs just say that your view of Donald Trump will probably not improve.
The article makes its way through his life at boarding school, in the work place, at parties, and in politics, showing how Trump exploited his power to take advantage of often vulnerable women.
Some of the more shocking moments include a borderline rape incident with his ex-wife Ivana, telling some of his employees that they were fat, and kissing some of the Miss Universe contestants without their permission.
One of the particularly disturbing stories was that of Alicia Machado, who was a former Miss Universe. After winning the pageant she put on a bit of weight and Trump publicly shamed her for the incident.
She said: โI told the president of Miss Universe, a very sweet woman, I said I need some time to recuperate, to rest, to exercise, to eat right. I asked them to bring me a doctor to help me โ to have a special diet and get exercise, and they said yes. They took me to New York, installed me in a hotel. The next day, they took me to the gym, and Iโm exposed to 90 media outlets. Donald Trump was there. I had no idea that would happen.
โI was about to cry in that moment with all the cameras there. I said, โI donโt want to do this, Mr. Trump.โ He said, โI donโt care.โ
Interviews with Trump are also included in the expose, where Trump defends and denies the claims some of the women made.
โA lot of things get made up over the years,โ Trump told the Times. โI have always treated women with great respect.โ

Following the governmentโs planned restructuring of mental health services, The Butterfly Foundation has been told that they only have 12 months left of funding for their helpline dedicated to helping people with eating disorders. Instead, the government will be creating a centralised online gateway for mental health services.
With more than 1 million Australians suffering from eating disorders, and anorexia having the highest death rate of any mental illness, itโs more important than ever that people suffering from an eating disorder are provided with a specialised avenue to seek help.
The CEO of The Butterfly Foundation, Christine Morgan, told ABC News that she was not impressed by the cuts. She said that the service helped 1000 people every month.
โTo be honest, it fills me with horror because at the moment, this is the only national dedicated service for people with eating disorders.โ
Since the announcement, various users of the helpline have also come forward to protect the service.
Kath Courts, 26, who has been using the Butterfly Foundationโs helpline when she needs it through tough times, told ABC that it was one of the most important safe spaces she had come across. She even said that other mental health lines had told friends of hers to โgo for a walkโ or โhave an icecreamโ, which she explained was extremely unhelpful.
โTo be told to eat something pleasant, itโs like you have absolutely no idea what Iโm going through, I really need help and Iโm not getting it.โ
Brynn Davis, 22, has also come forward, writing a pleading piece for The Huffington Post to protect the Butterfly Foundationโs specialised eating disorder services, which helped her get through her struggle with anorexia.
โMy heart broke for every single person with an eating disorder in this country โ past, present and future โ who will be left without a lifeline.โ
She reiterated what Kath said about the importance of a specialised service.
โGiving life-saving advice to an eating disorder patient requires specialised training and an in-depth understanding of the intricacies of a patientโs mentality. This is not available on a regular helpline. One wrong piece of advice can have catastrophic consequences.โ
As the current plan stands, the new centralised service will direct people to more specialised services after some initial screening services.

Five years ago Kate Sanderson was in hospital after suffering horrific burns in the Kimberley ultra marathon fire. Today she has proudly finished one of the toughest endurance races on the planet.
The 41-year-old suffered burns to 60 per cent of her body and lost part of her foot, after being caught up in the bushfire that also injured Turia Pitt in 2011.
Last night she spoke to current affairs show Sunday Night about her experience, saying: โI got into a crevice and the fire lit my shoulder and I thought, โThis is what itโs like to die in a fireโ,โ she said. โI jumped up without thinking and just covered my face, hence my fingers and tendons are gone in my fingers, but I saved my faceโ.
She said she was devastated at the prospect of never running again. โI never thought Iโd get through it.โ
However just a few weeks ago she proudly completed the six-day, 257km Marathon des Sables through the Sahara Desert. Although she canโt run, she walked the entire way.
The race was particularly gruelling for Sanderson as her extensive skin grafts mean she cannot sweat like an athlete should.
โ[It was] absolutely the hardest experience of my life, the hardest challenge Iโve ever done.โ
According to Sunday Night, temperatures reached 50 degrees Celcius during the race, and by day four Kate was unable to keep food down and had diarrhoea. By day six, 135 other competitors had pulled out of the race โ but Kate was determined to finish.
โTo see maybe 300 people out there clapping and cheering you on it was just amazing,โ she told Sunday Night at the finish line.

Woody Allenโs latest film, Cafรฉ Society, opened the Cannes Film Festival last week, to lukewarm reviews. But it is accusations of the directorโs alleged sexual abuse that have dominated coverage of Allenโs appearance at the festival.
Now, actress Susan Sarandon has weighed in on the issue, with comments at a panel discussion on women in film. โI have nothing good to say about Woody Allen,โ she replied at yesterdayโs conference, when the topic of the director came up. โI think he sexually abused a child and I donโt think thatโs right.โ
Sarandonโs comments follow a column in The Hollywood Reporter, written by Allenโs son Ronan Farrow, who accused the media of failing to ask hard questions about Allenโs alleged abuse of daughter Dylan Farrow.
Allen has long been dogged by abuse allegations, including a piece written two years ago by Dylan in The New York Times, which outlined her fatherโs alleged abuse โ something he has repeatedly denied and rejected as โludicrousโ.
When the topic was again raised at a press lunch, during the festival last week, the director was equally dismissive. โIโve said all I can say about it,โ he replied to a reporterโs questions. โI have so move on that I never think about it. I work, I do my movies and hope that people like them.โ

WARNING: Spoilers from Episode 2 of Game of Thrones Season 6 ahead!
Kit Harington did a pretty good job of keeping his secret about Jon Snowโs fate until Season 6 arrived. He may have just told his parents and his girlfriend Rose Leslie that Jon Snow is alive, but there is one other person who got lucky enough to find out!
On The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallonthe other night, Kit Harington explained that he may have used Jon Snowโs secret to his advantage. One time when he was driving too fast, he got pulled over by a cheeky cop who gave him an ultimatum:
โLook, thereโs two ways we could do this. You can either follow me back to the police station now and I book you inโฆ or you can tell me if you live on the next season of Game of Thrones.โ

We didnโt think it was possible but Blake Lively has stepped out in yet another phenomenal red carpet gown at the Cannes 2016 Film Festival.
Her latest red carpet appearance featured a cascading blue gown, which showed off her growing baby bump and glowing complexion.
The Atelier Versace gown has been likened to a cascading waterfall and also to Princess Elsaโs dress in Disneyโs Frozen. There is still 6 days left of the festival and we cannot wait to see what Blake will step out in next.

What to wear to a fashion show on a Sunday afternoon? The answer, according to more than a few attendees of Toni Maticevskiโs event yesterday arvo, was a full sculptural ballgown with black suede peep-toe boots. Or your Balmain blazer, tossed insouciantly over your shoulders (the first rule of fashion in 2016: never, EVER put your arms in your sleeves, ladies) with an ivory backless ruffled bustier and cropped cigarette pants.
Roxy Jacenko and her four-year-old daughter Pixie Curtis wore Dolce & Gabbana. Jennifer Hawkins was in a draped white mini dress and thigh-high suede boots. Delta Goodrem, a one-shouldered body con black cocktail dress. Blogger Elle Ferguson, from They All Hate Us, arrived laced into stiletto gladiator boots to rival Kendal Jennerโs from the MTV Movie Awards. It was officially: A Scene.
Any newbie Australian fashion week delegates from overseas expecting to see our famous laid back lifestyle in evidence were in for a shock. There were 900 fashionable types at Maticevskiโs show, the first to use a dramatic new venue The Cutaway at Bangaroo, and they were all dressed to the absolute nines.

Thatโs testament to the designerโs status, said Eva Galambos. โToni is someone you get dressed up for. He is one of our most important, original and exciting designers.โ The post-show dinner to honour him was held in Galambosโs Parlour X boutique in a converted Paddington church.
โFashion is our religion,โ quipped Paris-based stylist Catherine Baba. Alas even the gods canโt fix jet lag โ she slept through her alarm and missed the show.
So what exactly did she miss? Known for his romantic draping and skill with volume, for Resort โ17 Maticevski offered a darker vision playing with ideas of restraint. And so models wore elaborate Swarovski crystal handcuffs by jewellery designer Ryan Storer, locked behind their backs. Their sandals were so high that perhaps inevitably one model fell down the high-gloss white and gold runway. A couple of seasons ago, Maticevski sent his girls out with orchids in their mouths โ this time, the flowers were metal.
He tied up his bustiers, often layered over deconstructed shirting, with straps; and cut jackets back to front and upside down. But if all this looked uncomfortable, albeit exquisitely so, there was also a freedom evident in the sunshine yellow accents, crystal-strewn sweatshirting, and bouncing ballgowns (a standout appeared woven from spun gold). We got the idea these girls had tied themselves up, and were quite capable of throwing off those handcuffs whenever they felt like it.

Facebookโs Sheryl Sandberg has spoken about her husbandโs death โ and the lessons she learned from it โ for the first time at a university commencement speech in the US.
In a speech at UC Berkley, Sandberg said: โDaveโs death changed me in very profound ways. I learned about the depths of sadness and the brutality of loss,โ she said. โBut I also learned that when life sucks you under, you can kick against the bottom, break the surface, and breathe again.โ
Sandberg told the audience that they, too, will face setbacks and challenges that will be tougher than they can imagine. โThe question is not if some of these things will happen to you. They will,โ Sandberg said.
โIt is the hard days โ the times that challenge you to your very core โ that will determine who you are,โ she said. โYou will be defined not just by what you achieve, but by how you survive,โ
However, she said that we are all stronger than we realise. โWhen the challenges come, I hope you remember that anchored deep within you is the ability to learn and grow,โ Sandberg said. โYou are not born with a fixed amount of resilience. Like a muscle, you can build it up, draw on it when you need it.โ
Sandberg said that the key to overcoming grief was recognising and overcoming the 3 Ps: Personalisation, Pervasiveness and Permanence.
She said that personalisation is โthe belief that we are at fault,โ and she counselled against believing that everything that happens to us happens because of us; pervasiveness is the belief that an event impacts all parts of life; and permanence is the belief that the sorrow will last forever โ when it will not.
The speech comes a week after Sandberg wrote an impassioned paean to single mothers and the challenges of raising children (and balancing a career) while being a single mother.

If there is one thing Kendall Jenner knows by now, itโs how to turn heads! The 20-year-old model arrived on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet leaving little to the imagination.
She wore a โnaked dressโ, which Kim Kardashian, Beyoncรฉ and Rihanna have also been known to wear, with a twisting black and gold pattern from head to toe. The dress is a stunning Cavalli Couture design.
Check it out the intricate front of the dress:
But the back also shows Kendallโs incredible figure off:
She also wore long chandelier earrings by Chopard that are set with 43 carats of diamonds.

She lives in an apartment in the 10th arrondissement of Paris. She flits from fashion week to fashion week, making a living snapping street style and taking photos for her blog We The People Style, and she shoots for brands such as Jimmy Choo, Net-A-Porter, TopShop and Calvin Klein. In between fashion shows, she spends one week every year on a yacht in the Mediterranean taking photos for her Instagram accountโฆ and getting paid for it.
Yes, even Jessie Bush admits she leads a charmed life. โI get to do exactly what I want, and thatโs kind of my careerโฆ. I meanโฆ the pure ridiculousness of how great my job can beโฆโ she laughs before trailing off.
That job started five years ago back in Wellington, New Zealand, where Bush โ who endearingly still has a strong Kiwi accent โ studied journalism. โIโd been reading so many style blogs my boyfriend said why donโt you write one? So I went out and shot street style.โ
Back then, there were hardly any other style bloggers in New Zealand, and soon afterwards Bush and her boyfriend (now fiance) decided to move to Sydney โ a move that quickly proved precipitous. Within a few months, Bush had landed an ongoing gig shooting street style with Westfield, and was contributing regularly to a fashion website. From there, things snowballed, and within no time sheโd joined the global fashion caravan, travelling between New York, London, Milan and Paris twice a year.
Bush, who is likeable and funny, is at pains to point out that her job isnโt non-stop glamour. โMy day involves a hefty amount of emailsโฆ the planning and organising of shoots.โ And she says fashion week can be tougher than it looks. โParis is just truly chaotic โ 50 people chasing one person for a picture, cameras getting smashed on the ground, grown men cryingโฆitโs very dramatic! And itโs very serious business!โ
But overall, she feels lucky. โMy day-to-day to life is driven by my own creative goals and desires and nothing else. Itโs quite freeing to have that realisation on a daily basis so thatโs what Iโm really thankful for.โ
Here, Jessie Bush shares her tips for nailing the perfect Instagram shot:
Look for the light
โI shoot mostly on my iphone. For me, itโs all about natural light. I am definitely all about finding nice, clean, minimal locations. Keep an eye out for clean white surfaces to reflect off. When you go to restaurants donโt be shy to ask for the table near the window!โ
Use editing tools
โThese days I mostly use the editing tools within Instagram rather than editing apps. So mostly traditional editing tools like contract, sharpening, saturation.
โIf I do use a filter, just 5-10 per cent so you can barely tell.โ
Try a different angle
โAlways try to go for the unexpected. If you have a certain shot in mind, take it that way but then go from a different perspective, a different angle. Often the shots you donโtโ anticipate are the ones that are the most interesting and get the most engagement.โ
This week Jessie is shooting for marie claire at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia.

Youโll be hearing a lot about Misha Collection, because itโs the womenswear brand that brought the starriest model to Australian fashion week. American it girl Bella Hadid (edgier sister of Gigi) walked for Misha in Australia, and this week โ in the brandโs New York Fashion Week debut โ Jourdan Dunn will take to the runway for the Australian brand.
But just who is designer Michelle Aznavorian of Misha Collection, and how do they keep booking this mega A-list models?
Hadid may have 4.3 million Instragram followers, but Aznavorian is not too shabby herself in that department, with nearly 250,000 (follow her @mishacollection). To put that in perspective, thatโs more than Toni Maticevski, Sass and Bide or Camilla and Marc โ all household names that have been in business more than a decade.
Misha Collection is less than three years old, and has already won fans in the Kardashians, Miranda Kerr and Jennifer Lopez. Eva Longoria wore a Misha bodysuit in Cannes last week, and E! News presenters are all over it.
In her official company portrait 26-year-old newly wed Michelle Aznavorian looks like a cross between Kim Kardashian and Neytiri from from Avatar, but she insists she is just a simple girl from Melbourne made good.
Her father โis a watch and clock repair manโ, while her mother worked from home โwriting CVsโ and now manages the Misha warehouse. Aznavorianโs older sister is in banking. โDad was always really strict. He pushed us, taught us: if you want something you have to work for it. Heโs a very meticulous person, I get a lot of traits from him.โ
When we meet in a Sydney cafรฉ, in between fittings for her show, Aznavorian is in all black, bar nude Valentino Rockstud flats. No one turns and stares โ although it surely wonโt be long before they do, because her fresh-faced prettiness belies a steely determination. Sheโs a girl boss, with major ambitions.
โIโve always loved fashion and designer brands, anything aspirational, and Iโve always been entrepreneurial. I want to be internationally recognised,โ says the girl who started out selling second-hand designer gear on eBay to pay her way to fashion school. โIt was a private college; you want to be there, youโve got to pay. My parents werenโt going to give me any money, so I saved $7,000 โ not bad for a 17-year-old.โ
While studying, she worked as an assistant fashion buyer (including a stint at Forever New), and selling imported jewellery through Facebook. โI would buy from China and mark up the prices. I was very particular with what I bought, Iโd look for things that werenโt in the market already, that looked expensive. I didnโt start off with any money, or loans, I just reinvested all my profits back into stock.โ
Importing dresses was the logical next step. โAt first I wasnโt designing, I didnโt have any factories, it was just buying and reselling dresses that were on trend.โ She cleaned up. โIโd found a gap in the market, there were no classic simple elegant dresses that didnโt have crazy prints on them, or have big pouffy skirts, that were just really classy, and not too expensive.โ
By the time she launched Misha in 2013, Aznavorian had experience as a buyer and e-retailer, had taught herself about digital marketing, and had a clear vision: minimal, sexy but classy dresses and separates, mostly in black and white, and worn by very famous people.
โIt was focused on creating the brand from the start. Everything was considered and consistent, from the product to the website branding to the packaging.โ
Even so, she insists didnโt have a business plan. โI still donโt,โ she says, although she admits to โwriting a list of names I wanted to wear Misha. That was a project โ how am I going to take this onto the international scale? I knew which celebrities would suit the product really well. The next step was: well, who is going to help me?โ
The answer was a Hollywood PR agency. Brands pay to have their collections in showrooms in LA and New York โ itโs pricey, but if the product is right, it works. โIt was risky, because itโs expensive,โ says Aznavorian, โbut it paid off. Now Monica Rose [the Hollywood stylist who helped transform Kim Kardashian into a fashion influencer] insists on having a rack of Misha at every one of her showings.โ
Pics of Misha-clad Kardashians and Jenners all over Insta gave Aznavorian an in when it came to appointments with international buyers.
โOf course weโre working with sales agents, but I absolutely went over there with a suitcase full of samples. I am still doing that,โ she says, โI did it on my honeymoon in New York. We called it a businessmoon.โ She smiles, but sheโs not joking.
While many in the Aussie fashion industry worry about retail doom and gloom, Misha is basically killing it. Here sheโs a hit on The Iconic, and will stock Myer from July.
In the US, Misha is in Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus and the Dash stores in Miami and New York. It is stocked in the UK, the UAE, Taiwan and Israel โ as well as less obvious locations like Portugal and the Dominican Republic.
โIf you want to be a success, you have to portray yourself as one,โ says Aznavorian, โthatโs the first step.โ Fake it till you make it? โI wouldnโt say that.โ Sheโs right; she wouldnโt โ because Aznavorian has always believed in her own success. Self-doubt is not a phrase in her vocabulary.

It might be a clever promotional trick. Or it might be a loved-up couple having some fun. Either way, we love it.
Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban have posted a video of themselves lip synching along to Urbanโs new single, The Fighter.
In the video, apparently filmed from the coupleโs dash and later posted to Facebook, Nicole looks make-up-free and has her hair tied back, and laughs throughout.

Nicola Thorp โ a receptionist for PricewaterhouseCoopers in the UK โ was sent home earlier this week because her footwear didnโt comply with the companyโs โfemale grooming policyโ.
Why?
Well, she wasnโt wearing heels.
As it turns out, PricewaterhouseCoopers dictates that female employees should wear 2 โ 4 inch heels while on the job.
Understandably, Thorp wasnโt impressed about being sent home without pay. She told the BBC, โI said: โIf you can give me a reason as to why wearing flats would impair me to do my job today, then fair enoughโ. But they couldnโt.โ
Thorp also remarked that male employees didnโt have to comply with the rule. However, under British employment law, companies can legally set separate dress codes for male and female employees.
On Monday, a petition was started in support of Thorp, which now has in excess of 120 000 signatures.

Designers, buyers, models, media, hair and makeup teams are descending on the Harbour city for fashion week. What will they eat? Where will they sleep? Shop? Find their morning caffeine fix? WHAT WILL THEY EAT? Never fear, the marie claire insiderโs guide to Sydney is here.

โWant a carb-laden treat on the go? Churr Burger canโt be beaten โ order the pulled pork and slaw. It will take you five minutes: in, order, gone. For something lovely, I recommend Nomad.โ

โIโd suggest taking a walk around Mrs. Macquarieโs Chair to the Art Gallery of New South Wales, because the views are fabulous. See the collection, then having worked up an appetite, Matt Moranโs new Chiswick At The Gallery is excellent.โ
Chiswick At The Gallery, 1 Art Gallery Rd, Sydney NSW
โSydney is all about the beach, and Iโm all about Bondi, I might burn some energy with a soft sand run, but my secret weapon is the Romans Resistance Session at F45 Training Bondi Beach. All weights, all amazing.โ
F45 Training, 147 Curlewis St, Bondi Beach NSW

โYou have to take a hot yoga class at One Hot Yoga in Potts Point (34 Kellett St), itโs amazing, like being in a 5-star penthouse basically. In fact the space is so great Christopher Esber is having his Resort show there โ although it wonโt be hot for that obviously!โ
โMy recommendation for a facial is Melanie Grant โ sheโs the first Australian Chanel skincare specialist, and counts Linda Evangelista as a client. If you are feeling the effects of jet lag or are just in need of bit of TLC, head to the Shangri-La Hotel. The Chi Spa here offers a full body treatment, using Sodashi products โ organic, cruelty free and Australian made.

โOn Oxford Street, Parlour X is a real destination for designer brands, while a little further up the road, William Street is a favourite โ with Poepke, The Corner Shop, Clare Aristedes, By Charlotte, and Sweet William for chocolates. Off the beaten track Blood Orange in Potts Point is a beautifully curated boutique with a mix of No. 21, APC, Araks lingerie and Alexander Wang. Crown Street in Surry Hills is a hub for vintage finds, and Koskela in Rosebery is great inspiration for interiors.โ
Clare Press, fashion editor-at-large, marie claire
โFor Australian designers, The Intersection (cnr. Glenmore Road and Oxford Street, Paddington) is a must. Here you will find the Ellery, Scanlan and Theodore, Bassike and more.โ
โClub 77 in Darlinghurst used to be a fun dive, but has just been refurbished so now itโs fun and chic. Thursday nights are for martinis.
Fredaโs in Chippendale is close to MBFWA, which means itโs an easy choice after the doors close. The club often has live music with a different event every evening โ Friday night is party night but if you donโt have a friend to party with โ the club has been known to hold a speed dating night every now and then.
Low 302 in Crown Street is a secret gem for excellent cocktails and a fun vibe. Go on Friday night to dance to great DJs, or head over on Sunday for live jazz.โ
Tara Morris, Market Editor, marie claire
โSalaryMan in Surry Hills is a cool new place to go for ramen and cocktails โ two things that are normally hard to come by in the one joint.โ
Tessa and Beth McGraw, designers, McGraw
โFor a low-key dinner with a client we love a glass of prosecco and the pasta special at 10 William Street. For a drink, Hotel Palisade at Millerโs Point is awesome, it looks like this derelict old pub, but you go up top the top in an elevator, itโs plus with pink sofas and this gold bar and the view is spectacular. Donโt tell everyone.โ

Getty. Daphne Guinness at the opening of Isabella Blow: A Fashionable Life at the Powerhouse Museum, Sydney
On Wednesday, an otherworldly vision with Cruella de Vil hair and towering glittery platforms boots on, appeared in Sydney to open an extraordinary exhibition at the Powerhouse Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences.
It was Daphne Guinness and the show, Isabella Blow: A Fashionable Life, paints a vivid portrait in clothes of her friend, the late British fashion editor and front row fixture Isabella Blow.
Neither of these women are quite are household names Australia, but both cause fashionistasโ hearts to flutter.
(Credit: Getty. Isabella Blow: A Fashionable Life at Powerhouse Museum โ looks from Alexander McQueenโs Highland Rape collection)
Isabella Blow worked for many years as a fashion editor for both the Sunday Times and Tatler magazine in the UK, having landed her fashion break as Anna Wintourโs assistant during a brief stint in New York.
Blow was properly posh and intriguing โ she grew up in a castle, and her grandfather was Sir Jock Delves Broughton, who was implicated in the Happy Valley society murder in Kenya. A flamboyant dresser, Blow thought nothing of tottering into the office in giant Vivienne Westwood platforms, a low-cut brocade bustier and serious jewels, and had been known to purposefully smear her red lippie in order to distract attention away from her teeth.
She experienced great creative highs but perhaps even greater depressive lows. In her final years she struggled with the breakdown of her marriage and an ovarian cancer diagnosis. She died by her own hand. After several failed suicide attempts including jumping from a motorway flyover bridge, Blow finally succeeded in poisoning herself in 2007.
Until then Blow was a tireless champion of young designers, most famously โdiscoveringโ Alexander McQueen. In 1992, she was so taken with his student graduate collection that she bought the entire thing.
(Credit: Alexander McQueen: Burning Down The House , 1996 Chromogenic Print ยฉDavid LaChapelle)
Blow was the first fashion insider to encourage the brilliant milliner Philip Treacy, and she subsequently became his muse, inspiring โ and wearing โ many of his braver hats, including the neon plastic disc that features in the promos for the Powerhouse exhibition. Others were shaped like horns and a giant lobster, with one featuring her own name floating in mid-air.
The sight of Blow at fashion events sporting such things was one of the industryโs more joyful aspects. Guinness, one of Karl Lagerfeldโs favourite dressers, is no less flamboyant.
Guinness too is a fan of hats, and has said that she sees fashion as armour against the world. The dazzling sequins by local duo Romance Was Born that she wore to the exhibitionโs afterparty on Wednesday night could well have been about that. Guinnessโs jewellery was by Melbourne designer Emma Abrahams โ her Heart of Bone silver rings with gothic overtones have also been worn by Jean Paul Gaultier.
I asked Guinness about all this, and she told me, โCreativity, design talent, thatโs what I love about the fashion industry, the rest of it not so much.โ
On May 27, Guinness will officially cross over into music โ sheโs releasing her first album, Optimist in Black, produced by Tony Visconti, who worked with David Bowie.
Until then, itโs all about the promoting the exhibition. Blow was one of her best friends and after she died, Guinness, who isnโt short of a bob (one of the beer heirs, used to be married to a Greek shipping magnate) stepped in to buy Blowโs fashion archive in its entirety to prevent it being sold at auction.
Weโre lucky enough to have in Australia thanks to a partnership with Westfield and the Woolmark company โ Blow was a great fan of the fibre, and several important pieces in the collection are made of wool.
(Credit: Getty. Isabella Blow: A Fashionable Life at Powerhouse Museum, Philip Treacyโs Disc hat from 2001)
โItโs the stories behind the clothes give an exhibition life,โ says curator Shonagh Marshall. โI think because of Isabellaโs tragic end, there was potential for it to feel sad or even macabre, so we wanted to begin with the opposite, to speak of her wit and sense of fun โ which was enormous.โ
Hence the first outfit we see is couture by Alexander McQueen for Givenchy, which Blow bought for close to 35,000 French francs, then attempted to expense to the Sunday Times. โShe wasnโt foolish,โ says Marshall, โshe knew she probably wouldnโt get that money but she gave it a go! For me, that really sums her up โ the gung go attitude.โ
โMy favourite piece are always the odd ones, not the shiny popular ones,โ she says. In the first section of the show, there are three right-foot shoes, all in different sizes: 37, 37.5 and 38. I donโt know and we will never know. For the person who comes to see the show, and perhaps doesnโt know much about Isabella, itโs a really nice way to understand the magnitude of what was left. Isabella wasnโt like, โIโm going to bequeath this dress or this hat to a museum because I think they best represent meโ โ and that does happen โ but this was something quite different. This was couture dresses and important archival pieces by McQueen, but it was also false eyelashes fluttering loose in the bottom of a box, handbags filled with receipts, the real stuff of life that she had amassed.โ
Isabella Blow: A Fashionable Life shows at Powerhouse Museum, Sydney, until August 28

The first trailer for Queen Of Katwe has arrived, and it is guaranteed to move you.
Produced by Walt Disney Pictures and ESPN Films, Queen Of Katwe depicts the life of Phiona Mutesi, a Ugandan chess prodigy who becomes a Woman Candidate Master after her performance at World Chess Olympiads.
Based on a true story, the film follows the uplifting journey of Phiona from the slums of Katwe to the international chess circuit. Phionaโs life is changed dramatically when she meets missionary and chess instructor, Robert Katende (played by David Oyelowo), but her mother Harriet (played by Academy Award winner Lupita Nyongโo) fears what will happen if her dreams donโt come true.
โIโd be curious to know how many times you cry in the film!โ Nyongโo told Vulture, โThe trailer gives me chills โ it reinforces how excited I am to be a part of this incredible cast and to help bring this story to the world.โ
Vanity Fair has already tipped the biographical film for 2017 Oscarโs nominations. Check out the trailer belowโฆ

A sea of red rose petals; a lovelorn farmer staring pensively over the land; a make-up-smudged bachelorette weeping in the back of a limousine.
Turn on the TV during prime time, and youโre likely to see at least one of the above. In fact, these days our screens are swarming with more sparkling rings and suitors than ever before โ and theyโre fast closing in on the saucepans and screwdrivers.
Television programming has always been a cyclical beast: one minute weโre crazy for croquembouche-filled cooking comps, the next weโre going gaga over home renovation challenges. And right now โ with shows like The Bachelor, Married At First Sight andThe Farmer Wants A Wife dominating the TV guide โ it seems weโre all in love with love.
Of course, dating shows have been around for a while. The original reality-romance show โ Perfect Match โ launched back in 1984. For those too young to remember, It was a bit like The Voice for singletons, only with poodle perms and cringey double entendres; contestants were hidden behind a screen and quizzed by their prospective date.
It was a hit in its day, but its popularity was nothing compared to todayโs reality shows โ the most successful of which is undoubtedly The Bachelor/Bachelorette. The US series has notched up 31 seasons, 800+ contestants, 23 on-screen engagements, a couple of televised wedding spectaculars and up to 10 million viewers per episode. And thatโs not counting the 22 international offshoots.
In Australia, itโs been a smash hit. Nearly 2 million people tuned into the season final last year, and when bachelor Blake Garvey pulled the old switcheroo on Sam Frost just weeks after his proposal in 2014, it became the scandal that stopped the nation.
Which probably helps explain why other networks have quickly followed suit with their own dating shows.
Last year, Married At First Sight โ a โsocial experimentโ which threw eight terrified individuals into blind, arranged marriages (ok, they werenโt legally binding) โ served as coffee-break fodder in offices across the country, and chalked up 1 million viewers every episode.
A refreshed The Farmer Wants A Wife recently returned after a three-year hiatus, and weโve seen the launch of First Dates, The Seven Year Switch, Dating Naked โฆ Next, look out for the provocatively titled Kiss Bang Love, which will see participants, um, kiss their way to love. Apparently itโs backed by science.
Married At First Sight (Credit: Facebook)
So why are we so fascinated by dating shows?
Voyeurism for a start. These shows have more drama than Shakespeare โ slightly unhinged, love-hungry women; slightly unhinged, love-hungry men; cocktail-fuelled feuds; raunchy moments; distraught break-ups.
But social researcher Dr Rebecca Huntley believes it goes further than that; she thinks that dating shows have become more popular since the rise of dating apps like Tinder.
โOnce upon a time, if you used a dating service, you were considered a bit of a loser. Now theyโre mainstream and have lost that stigma,โ she says. โAs such, I think weโre interested in seeing what happens when two people are forced into intimacy really quickly.โ
From the comfort of our couch, we can relate to the men and women โ hopeful, assertive, nervous, desperate โ on these shows, observing their behaviours and values, and subconsciously assessing our own.
Furthermore, she says, in todayโs social media-obsessed world, dating has become a spectator sport. We broadcast our hook-ups, break-ups and make-ups online for all to see. So it seems only natural to watch another coupleโs relationship play out on the box.
In our social media-obsessed world, dating has become a spectator sport
Besides technology, there are social influences too, says Huntley. โWomen today have grown up with enormous pressure [via the media] to get married and have children by a certain age โ or they might not be able to conceive,โ she explains. โThereโs this anxiety around relationships and fertility โ even in young girls โ and I think these shows tap into that.โ
Veteran host of The Bachelor US Chris Harrison has a more romantic view, claiming the genre has captivated viewers because โlove is the universal currencyโ.
If truth be told, once the cameras switch off and the seaplanes and super yachts disappear, the success rate of these reality TV relationships isnโt great (just six out of 31 US The Bachelor/Bachelorette couples are still together today; the Australian alumni fare much better with three out of four, though itโs still early days). But thatโs not the point. Because while the roses may wither and the relationships may crumble, weโve already eagerly tuned in to a brand new season.

He might have just welcomed his second daughter with Eva Mendes, but Ryan Gosling is already out and about promoting his new movie The Nice Guys, starring alongside Russell Crowe.
On Thursday he appeared on ABCโs Good Morning America and host Amy Robach didnโt shy away from asking the million-dollar question โ whatโs life like with Eva Mendes?
โItโs heaven,โ he said jokingly. โItโs like walking through a field of flowers every day. I live with angelsโ.
But donโt think Evaโs the only one The Gos gushed about, he also talked about his friendship with co-star Russell Crowe. โItโs a ray of sunshine in a dark time, because with Russell, really, itโs sad,โ he added. โItโs sad that weโve turned out this way.โ

Blake Lively has spoken out against a controversial rape joke made by French comedian and master of ceremonies Laurent Lafitte at the Cannes opening screening of her latest film, Cafรฉ Society. The joke is speculated to have been directed at Woody Allen, or another director, Roman Polanski. It came on the same day that Woody Allenโs son Ronan Farrowwrote a scathing article for The Hollywood Reporterabout the silence in Hollywood surrounding his fatherโs sex abuse allegations.
Laurent Lafitte said: โItโs very nice that youโve been shooting so many movies in Europe, even if you are not being convicted for rape in the U.S.โ The audienceโs reaction was complete shock โ there were audible gasps.
Blake Lively has since spoken to Variety about the incident, indicating that she felt sick about the whole thing.
โI think any jokes about rape, homophobia or Hitler is not a joke,โ she said. โI think that was a hard thing to swallow in 30 seconds. Film festivals are such beautiful, respectful festivals of film and artists and to have that, it felt like it wouldnโt have happened if it was in the 1940s. I canโt imagine Fred Astaire and Bing Crosby going out and doing that. It was more disappointing for the artists in the room that someone was going up there making jokes about something that wasnโt funny.โ
She went on to say that she wasnโt impressed by the comedianโs other material either.
โBut it wasnโt just Woody. He made three homophobic comments in a row. A Hitler joke. And a rape joke. It was all within 30 seconds โฆ What on Earth was happening? It was really confusing.โ

Over the years, weโve enjoyed watching Taylor Swift showing off her signature dance moves in the front row of almost every awards (cue the YouTube clip from the VMAs).
Now, we get to enjoy a solid minute of the pop star busting dramatic moves in Appleโs latest commercial titled โDance Like No Oneโs Watching.โ
The new ad plays out in a way similar to Taylorโs previous ad, which saw her lip-syncing to Jimmy Eat World as she prepared for a night out. This time, however, she dances around her living room alone to the tune of The Darknessโ โI Believe In A Thing Called Love.โ
While Taylor is well aware sheโs known for her awkward moves, she clearly doesnโt care, because, well, sheโs Taylor Swiftโฆand we wouldnโt have it any other way.

To prepare you (and your newsfeed) for the influx of Australian and international designers about to be talked about everywhere, we have compiled a list of 9 important things to know about MBFWA 2016.
1. Itโs got a new name
Next week Australian fashion week enters a new era. Rebranded as โResort Collectionsโ, itโs been shifted forward a few weeks later in order to attract more international buyers and media.
2. Itโs a month later than it used to be
The event used to happen in early April, and many felt that it came too soon after the end of Paris fashion week for internationals to justify making the trip down under.
Organisers IMG are hoping the new date and branding turns that around, and so far so good. On Thursday, they released an impressive list of retail names said to be on their way, including buyers from Net-A-Porter, Matches, Shopbop, Bergdorf Goodman and Lane Crawford.
3. Bridget Malcolm is gorgeous
Expat Aussie model Bridget Malcolm is coming home for the week, dipped in Victoriaโs Secret glitter. Yep, the Perth girl walked in their show last year. Bikini body envy at the readyโฆ

4. Oscar de le Renta is coming! (Except heโs not)
Iconic American brand Oscar de la Renta and New York indie Cynthia Rowley will be showing for the first time, in a move geared to cement the idea of Australia as a Resort season leader internationally. Designer Oscar de la Renta passed away in 2014, aged 82. He was replaced by Peter Copping, who carries on his legacy. Copping is not coming to Sydney either. But his clothes are โ yay!

Taking to Twitter on Tuesday to defend his wife Chrissy Teigen against โmum-shamingโ Internet trolls, the 37-year-old expressed his distaste for the relentless criticism through one, single tweet.
โFunny thereโs no dad-shaming,โ he posted. โWhen both of us go to dinner, shame both of us so Chrissy doesnโt have to take it all. Weโll split it.โ
He definitely makes a point, right? It seems that no matter what Chrissy does, she seems to get some sort of backlash on social media. She goes out for dinner a few days after giving birth to beautiful baby Luna, she gets slammed. She shares pics of herself at home celebrating her first Motherโs Day, and she gets accused of of being insensitive.
Fortunately, we think Chrissyโs get enough sass to take it all in her strideโฆ(but her adorable husbandโs support would definitely be helping).

Hayden Panettiere, 26, has recently opened up on Twitter about her struggle with postnatal depression. The Nashville star admitted that she was taking โtime to reflectโ, and she sent out a Tweet explaining her situation.
She said โThe postpartum depression I have been experiencing has impacted every aspect of my life. Rather than stay stuck due to unhealthy coping mechanisms I have chosen to take time to reflect holistically on my health and life. Wish me luck!โ
โ Hayden Panettiere (@haydenpanettier) May 12, 2016
She gave birth to her daughter Kaya Evdokia in December 2014, however attended rehab in October last year for her postpartum depression.
She has previously opened up to People about breaking down the stigma surrounding postpartum depression.
โThe biggest message that Iโve been trying to promote for women is that itโs okay to ask for help,โ Hayden said earlier this year. โYou feel mommy guilt โ itโs for real.โ
Even earlier in the year, Hayden opened up at the Criticsโ Choice Awards about how people getting behind her has been so helpful.
โ Iโm 26 years old. Iโm a mom. I donโt need to be afraid of what people are going to think. I saw how much people rallied behind me when I was honest, and I didnโt know that honesty could be such a gift.โ
We wish Hayden all the best on her journey, and hope she feels better soon.

Maminydjama Maymuru, known by her model name โMagnoliaโ, will be the first Aboriginal woman to represent the Northern Territory at Miss World Australia.
Growing up in Yirrkala in east Arnhem Land, the 19 year old was in Darwin when the director of NT Fashion Week (Mehali Tsangaris) spotted her two years ago. She declined her offer to try modelling to focus on her studies and finish school, but now that she is done, she has decided to give it a try.
โThe main reason why I agreed to do it is that I donโt want to do it just for myself, I want to do it for young people all over Australia. That means black or white. I grew up both ways, the Yolngu way, and the balanda way, which is the white manโs way, the western way,โ said Magnolia.
โI want to do this for all the young kids. To instill in them the belief and inspiration that anything is possible if you continue to do it and you work hard.โ
Facebook
Mehali Tsangaris also described the moment she spotted Magnolia as very striking to ABC News.
โI stopped dead in my tracks. I think I scared the life out of her,โ said Mehali. โFirst and foremost there was her height. Thatโs obviously model material. She also has this elegance about her.โ
Facebook
Mehali also went on to describe her disbelief that Australian models do not come from more diverse communities in Australia.
โIโm quite surprised that nobodyโs worked with girls from community and girls as culturally sound as her. I think Australia needs to see girls like Magnolia.โ

The National Final for the Miss World Australia pageant will take place later this year, and the winner will represent Australia in the international Miss World event in London in September.

After keeping their real-life romance secret for so long, Kit Harington, who plays Jon Snow, and Rose Leslie, who plays Ygritte, went public with their relationship in April with their first public appearance at the Olivier Awards in London.
Since then, Kit hasnโt been afraid to wear his heart on his sleeve either. When asked about one of his best memories from the show, Kit gushed. โBecause the country is beautiful, because the Northern Lights are magical, and because it was there that I fell in love,โ he said. โIf youโre already attracted to someone, and then they play your love interest in the show, it becomes very easy to fall in love.โ
While Ygritte may think Jon Snow knows nothing, Kit Harington definitely knows a thing or two about romanceโฆ. And weโre very jealous!

In a powerhouse merge of social media, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and Instagramโs biggest star, Selena Gomez, met up for a casual, yet intimate, business meeting at Facebookโs headquarters in LA.
We say intimate, as the power-packed pair met up for a quick chat and pic opp in a very tiny room.
What were they discussing? Why were they in a miniature room? Were all the other meeting rooms booked? Hopefully, we get answers to these questions soon.
Mark then posted a pic of the pair to his personal FB account, saying: โMeeting with Instagramโs biggest star in our smallest room. Thanks for stopping by Selena Gomez!โ
Weโd love to be a fly on the wall of this conversation.

Lustrous, voluminous and devil-may-care disheveled, this is The Dapper Patz after three margaritas. The Hair accompanies Pattinson to the 2015 Vanity Fair Oscar Party where it no doubt proceeded to charm its way through the throngs of A-listers.
The Wolverine
The Hair embraced its inner X-Men at the Berlin premiere of Life, in which it stars alongside the hair of Sir Ben Kingsley and Aussie Joel Edgerton.
The Pattinson Patch (front)
The internet went into meltdown when The Hair debuted this avant-garde look at the GO GO Gala in Beverly Hills in 2014. While masquerading as an ordinary cut from the frontโฆ
The Pattinson Patch (back)
the style revealed a radical, bald undercut with a rectangular patch at the back that would put many a bikini waxer to shame.
The Envy of Every Man Everywhere
In town to promote The Rover at the Cannes Film Festival, The Hair was revealed to adoring onlookers as a textbook short back and sides so perfect that it brought a tear to the eye of even the most cynical of men around the globe.
Private Patz (First Class)
When the actor stepped on to the red carpet for the German premiere of Bel Ami, The Hair was noticeably absent due to Pattinsonโs severe military style buzz cut.
The Fifty-Fifty
At Comic-Con to chat with fans about Twilight: Breaking Dawn, The Hair proceeded to instead break the internet due to the fact that half of it seemed to be missing. It was soon revealed that this unhappy turn of events was for Pattinsonโs role in David Cronenbergโs Cosmopolis. Never desert us again, half the Hair, never desert us again.
The Skyscraper
While the British heartthrob took home the highly esteemed and much coveted Choice Male Hottie at the 2009 Teen Choice Awards, The Hair once again stole the show thanks to sheer height alone. Twilight co-star Kellan Lutz even went so far as to attribute the vampire franchiseโs massive success to the lure of the starโs impressive locks.
The Parisian Patz
Feeling coy, The Hair accessorised with this delightful little beanie-beret hybrid at the MTV studios in Times Square for a television appearance in 2008.
Moda Grunge
We are going to blame the fact the The Hair was on Italian time for this particular incarnation when it appeared at the Rome Film Festival in back 2008. While it does look as though it was scraped off the floor along with a collection of Nirvana and Pearl Jam records, it remains invitingly mussed.
The Vintage Vampire
Classic Edward Cullen, this is The Hair that started it all. Positively buoyant, artfully rumpled and irresistibly strokable, legions of teens around the world fell to their knees, worshipping at the altar of The Hair.
The Potter Patz
Also known as The Baby Patz, The Hair first fluttered on to the mainstream silver screen as the dreamy but doomed Cedric Diggory in 2005โs Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

Now weโve all likely felt the pinch of high heels and longed to kick them off, but is there more than sore feet to Juliaโs barefoot look?
In 2015, Cannes Film Festival organisers faced scrutiny after allegedly turning away a handful of women in their 50s from the screening of Carol after being told their flat footwear wasnโt appropriate.
โScreen Daily reported multiple guests, some older with medical conditions, were denied access to the anticipated world-premiere screening for wearing rhinestone flats.
Festival organisers have confirmed that it is obligatory for all women to wear high-heels to red-carpet screenings.
While she did initially arrive at the event wearing black peep toe heels they were soon nowhere to be seen. Whether the look was in rebellion against the strict dress code, or a mere matter of sore soles the actress still looked stunning and to be quite honest, a lot more comfy!

Whatโs cuter than mums and daughters matching? Not much! Usually it might be matching pyjamas, a matching tee, or even a matching bracelet, but when your parents have a combined net worth of over $1 billion like Beyoncรฉ and Jay Z, you go all out.
So Beyoncรฉ decided to take things up a notch and get both her and her daughter Blue Ivy custom-made Gucci jackets! And well, they look nothing short of adorable:
Blue Ivyโs jacket says โLโAveugle Par Amourโ, which is French for โBlind for loveโ. They were designed by Alessandro Michele at the Italian fashion house.

Students at a University of Sydney college published a journal last year that has caused controversy after referring to women as โhoesโ and โb***hesโ, and shaming women for their sexual relationships.
The journal, titled the Wesley CollegeJournal, included awards for women based on their appearance, and a page called The Rackweb with a diagram of all the sexual relationships that were known about, even including an award for โMrs Rackwebโ for sleeping with the most people.
Aparna Balakumar, the editor of University of Sydney Union publication Pulp, spoke to many female residents about the effect this journal had had on them, with one woman saying it had โruined her life at the Universityโ.
In a statement released to The Sydney Morning Herald on Wednesday May 11, the Master of Wesley College, Lisa Sutherland, responded to the controversy by disassociating the college from the studentsโ behaviour, saying the college itself had โabsolutely no involvementโ in the publication of the journal.
As a result of the backlash against the journal, Lisa Sutherland has stated:
โThe Studentโs Club has apologised for the content of the 2014 journal and has agreed that the journal will no longer be published. There will instead be a Wesley College Students Club Yearbook that will not contain any material outside the academic, cultural and sporting pursuits of the students.โ

As we all know, Donald Trump has made a sport out of mocking other people, particularly women. But now, a Portland Pizzeria has given Trump a taste of his own medicine.
Vinnieโs Pizzeria just debuted a new pizza with tiny slices so Trump can wrap his tiny little fingers around them with ease.
Flavour-wise, itโs not for the faintheartedโฆ the pizza has three toppings and triple cheese.
Trump was first accused of having short, stumpy fingers by Spy magazine back in the โ80s and heโs been similarly mocked by publications including Vanity Fair, Gawker and the New Yorker (amongst others).
Itโs fair to say that he hasnโt taken the ridicule lying down, so we wonder how โ or if โ heโll respond to this one.

On the day of his new film opening at Cannes, Cafรฉ Society, Woody Allenโs son (Ronan Farrow) published a guest column for The Hollywood Reporter. He wrote about the culture in Hollywood of ignoring โdamningโ sex allegations, such as the allegations his sister (Dylan Farrow) made against Woody Allen in 1992 that he abused her as a child.
Ronan described how The New York Times ran a piece on his sisterโs story online, giving her 936 words and adding cautious notes around it. But he said the way the media told his fatherโs story was completely different.
โSoon afterward, the Times gave her alleged attacker twice the space โ and prime position in the print edition, with no caveats or surrounding context. It was a stark reminder of how differently our press treats vulnerable accusers and powerful men who stand accused.โ

When The New York Times ran Woody Allenโs story in 2014, he denied the allegations: โOf course, I did not molest Dylan.โ A year earlier, the prosecutor of the case dropped the charges against Woody Allen on account of Dylan being โtoo fragileโ for a trial.
Kristen Stewart even opened up in a recent interview with Variety about the fact that she and Jesse Eisenberg had hesitated before accepting the roles in Cafรฉ Society.
โAt the end of the day, Jesse and I talked about this. If we were persecuted for the amount of sโ thatโs been said about us thatโs not true, our lives would be over,โ she said. โThe experience of making the movie was so outside of that, it was fruitful for the two of us to go on with it.โ

Ronan Farrowโs column explained that his sister has been hurt every time someone comes forward to work with Woody Allen, and he ended it by begging more reporters to โask some hard questionsโ of these people.
โThat kind of silence isnโt just wrong. Itโs dangerous. It sends a message to victims that itโs not worth the anguish of coming forward. It sends a message about who we are as a society, what weโll overlook, who weโll ignore, who matters and who doesnโt.โ

When was the last time you went for a jog at night? Or walked through a park by yourself after dark?
Our guess is not recently. Or, perhaps, never.
A new survey from Our Watch and Plan International has found that almost a third of young Australian women believe itโs not safe to be in public places after dark.
To which we reply: ONLY a third?
A straw poll in the marie claire office found that we tend to avoid public places after dark if weโre alone. We schedule jogs during daylight hours, and if we ever do exercise at night, we donโt wear headphones. We tend to get Ubers home rather than walk even short distances through dodgy areas.
And weโre much older than the girls surveyed in this latest report (who were 15-19).
It shouldnโt be this way of course โ in a country like Australia we should, as the report is titled, have a โRight To The Nightโ.
But in fact the survey โ which was also conducted overseas โ found that even women in Nicaragua feel safer than those in Australia (with only 23 per cent feeling they shouldnโt be outside after dark).
โWomen and girls should not have to modify their behaviour to avoid being targets of harassment and abuse,โ said Our Watch Chief Executive Officer, Mary Barry. โPerpetrators must learn that aggressive and disrespectful behaviour and harassment against women is unacceptable.โ
But perhaps the most disturbing finding from the report is that 17 per cent of respondents (women) believed that the way women dress makes them at least partly responsible for unwanted attention or harassment.
โThe data tells us girls think the responsibility for violence or sexual harassment towards women and girls rests with them and not the perpetrators of the crimes. Itโs disheartening that so many girls think theyโre better off staying at home than doing things as simple as catching public transport on their own,โ said Plan International Australia Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Susanne Legena.
The irony, of course, is that our fears are most probably misplaced โ that the danger is not on the street, but at home, where one woman dies every week at their hands of their partner.
And the solution? Plan and Our Watch believe the answer lies with men โ and teaching them to respect women โ rather than telling women to keep safe.
Until then, weโll stick to jogging during daylight hours.

Ricky Gervais is the latest in a long line of celebrities to come out against Donald Trumpโฆ and he did it in his signature comedic style.
In a piece for The Hollywood Reporter, Gevais noted that somehow Trump gets away with saying terrible things, without any consequences.
โItโs funny, comedians tell a joke and they get in trouble; Donald Trump says a terrible thing and means it, and he gets elected,โ Gervais said.
Gervais puts Trumpโs political success down to being in the right place at the right time.
โHe hit the peak of political correctness, and heโs an antidote to all that. People are tired of being told they canโt say things, so heโs suddenly this poster boy for saying whatโs on your mind, however terrible it is.โ
Thereโs no doubt that Trump has gotten away with saying some outrageous things. This is the man that once implied Hillary Clinton isnโt fit for president because of her husbandโs actions by Tweeting, โIf Hillary Clinton canโt satisfy her husband what makes her think she can satisfy America?โ
Gervais is worried about the reality of Trump becoming president. And you know what? So are we.

Khloe Kardashian has joined the string of celebs trading in their honeyed blonde locks for an edgier, white-hot shade: icy platinum blonde.
The 32-year-old Kardashian debuted her fresh dye job with a mirror selfie on Instagram overnight. Unlike the icy blondes before her (see below), Khloeโs is a more user-friendly look, with darker roots fading from pale gold to platinum.
With blunt cut ends and S-bend waves, her new cut is equally fresh โ and all the better for flaunting a backless dress.
Kardashian joins a growing number of A-listers trying the white blonde shade, including Taylor Swift, who made the switch just in time for the 2016 Met Gala.

Jennifer Lawrence and Poppy Delevingne have also made the switch, and of course thereโs the original icy it girl, Gwen Stefani.

Thinking of trying the colour? Be prepared to put in the hard yards: youโll need to commit to regular salon appointments (this is not a DIY home hair colour situation) and, as bleach can leave strands dry, brittle and prone to breakage, a dedicated at-home strengthening and hydrating routine is essential.

Like a good girlfriend, Jennifer Aniston just wants you to look your best.
The brains over at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) have created a product that tightens under-eye skin, and licensed the resulting technology to just two companies โ including Living Proof, which counts Aniston as an investor.
Eight years in the making, the โsecond skinโ is a super sticky, strong and stretchy polymer that MIT scientist Robert Langer likened to โinvisible Spanxโ (we like the sound of that).
Itโs basically two creams that, when layered, form an invisible film that immediately smooths and firms the skin. It can be applied daily and lasts up to 16 hours.
Living Proof expects to launch the product once they receive approval from the US Food and Drug Administration Agency.

Instagram has finally rolled out its new design, and letโs just say people arenโt really sure about it! After all, humans are creatures of habits and even a change of logo can make people feel outraged.
Ian Spalter, Instagramโs head of design, wrote on Medium,
โThe Instagram icon and design was beginning to feel, wellโฆ not reflective of the community, and frankly we thought we could make it better.โ
โMake it betterโ? As you might expect, the Twitter community has had something to say about that โ in fact, they thought quite the opposite. Some people see the new logo as changing from its much-loved clunky camera to a rainbow blob inspired by Microsoft PowerPoint backgrounds that you used to use for all your projects in primary school.
But this isnโt the only change theyโve made recently. Not only have Instagram turned the logo rainbow, but they also redesigned the app to moody black and white, which they say โputs more focus on your photos and videosโ. This way, everything will look like a fashion shoot aimed for the cover of a magazine! So say goodbye Gen Y to blurry โartisticโ shots and hello to high end photography.
Perhaps people are so outraged by the change because thereโs so much change in our world nowadays, so people hold on to what they know best โ even if itโs something as simple as the design of an app.
But there is always a silver lining through the hatred and confusion. As with all change, eventually we will embrace it and learn to love new logo!

Drew Barrymore has opened up in her first talk-show interview since her split with Will Kopelman earlier this year, and said that she felt like a โfailureโ. The interview aired on Chelsea, Chelsea Handlerโs new Netflix series talk show.
โWhen you break up with somebody, youโre like, โYeah, that didnโt work.'โ said Drew. But when you get divorced, youโre like, โIโm the biggest failure. This is the biggest failure. Itโs so shameful and hard to actually go through that, even privately.โ
After four years of marriage, the couple decided to call it quits, and Drew released a statement eloquently describing her feelings afterwards, and how she had eventually come to โfind graceโ and happiness afterwards.
โItโs a tough time. Itโs a hard thing to go through. Itโs like youโre being put on a cheese-grater and every second, going, โAh! This wasnโt the plan!'โ

However what has really got her through it all of it is her support network of friends and family.
โThere has been this really nice feeling of something very fluid and positive and the opposite of how I felt inside,โ she said, โEveryone has just been so cool and chill and nice about everything that it quelled my own fears and demons about how we sort of have to go through things in life.โ
The couple have two children together, three-year-old Olive and two-year-old Frankie. Drew explained she is taking this time to spend with her family, and her friends.
โWhat I do want is girlfriend time,โ she said, and fortunately sheโs got no shortage of friends! The actress has been leaning on friends like Cameron Diaz during this time.
We love you Drew! And hope you start to feel better soon!

Independent lawyers will review a decision not to prosecute two men over the death of a young woman left to bled to death on a beach in Northern NSW.
The announcement comes after almost 60,000 people signed a petition urging a review of the case.
Lynette Daley, 33, died in January 2011 from serious injuries after violence sex acts were performed on her on Ten Mile Beach.
Daley was with two men, Paul Maris and Adrian Atwater. They called an ambulance that night saying Daley had lost consciousness after a night of drinking.
When ambulance officers arrived, Daley, a mother of seven, was bruised, naked and bloodied. She had been dead โfor some timeโ.
An autopsy would later discover that she had died from blunt force trauma to her genital tract, and had horrific internal and external injuries.
Maris and Atwater claimed they had had consensual sex with Daley.
However, experts say that Daleyโs blood alcohol level was so high that she would not have been able to consent to sex. She may not have been conscious.
On Monday night the ABCโs Four Corners program interviewed Daleyโs family, who are incredulous that no action has been taken against the men.
A Change.org.au petition was launched calling for a review of the case. So far โ in just three days โ 60,000 people have signed the petition, and thousands have emailed the NSW DPP in protest.

Australia must help a young woman who was raped on Nauru, a court has ruled โ and last night Immigration Minister Peter Dutton said he would not appeal the decision.
The news comes as the woman enters her second trimester โ and it means that the Australian government must arrange for an abortion.
The case is a victory for the woman, who was living on Nauru as a refugee and was raped while in the midst of a epileptic seizure.
Afterwards, the woman โ known only as S99 โ begged to be transferred to Australia for an abortion. But the government argued that the woman wasnโt Australiaโs responsibility.
Instead, she was flown to Papua New Guinea for an abortion.
However, abortions are illegal in PNG, and the young woman refused to undergo a termination there on the grounds that she could be arrested, and that there werenโt adequate medical facilities to cope with her epilepsy.
There was never any dispute that the woman was raped.
Since being transferred to PNG, S99 has been living under guard, and pregnant, awaiting a judgeโs decision.
Lawyer George Newhouse said, โIt is imperative that the Turnbull Government immediately brings her to Australia โ or to another country where she can receive the highest standard of neurological and gynecological care.
โThe Prime Minster has said that it is unAustralian to disrespect women and that he wants a โcultural shiftโ in our society to ensure that women are respected โ well, he can start with this poor soul.โ

Itโs been 25 years since we watched Susan Sarandon and Geena Davis drive off the cliff in that Ford Thunderbird convertible. To celebrate, we revisit Thelma & Louise and the lessons we learned from the feisty heroines.
1. How to take the selfie Thelma and Louise actually invented the selfieโฆ and the result was nothing short of fabulous. How did they do it? With an old school Polaroid camera and some killer grins.
2. You get what you settle for In the movie, Louise tells Thelma, โYou get what you settle for.โ Ainโt that the truth!

3. Brad Pitt Yep, we can all thank Thelma & Louise for bringing Brad Pitt to the big screen. It was one of his breakout roles and he was reportedly paid just $6000. Brad definitely captured our attention (and our hearts).

4. Mum jeans are cool Especially if you wear them like Thelma and Louise โ with cowboy boots and badass cutoff tees.

5. Letโs hear it for the girls Often hailed as a seminal feminist film, Thelma & Louise showed us that men arenโt the only outspoken heroes of Hollywood. Hear, here!

Ryan Gosling appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live just hours after he and Eve Mendes announced the birth of their 2nd child, Amada Lee Gosling.
However, he didnโt mention his new daughter on the show. We think itโs fair to say Ryan was somewhat distracted with a slight wardrobe malfunction.
โI have to admit something,โ said Gosling as he sat down.
โI didnโt try this suit on before I came out, and I realise that itโs so tight.โ
โItโs wildly inappropriate. I feel like Iโm going steady with these pants,โ he added. โI canโt feel my calves. I donโt know if thatโs good. I asked for it because Iโm dressed this way.โ
Watch the interview here:
Ryan Gosling didnโt let the suit restrain him too much though. Will Ferrell joined him later on the show for the hilarious return of โKnife Guysโ!

Since Prince sadly passed away a couple of weeks ago, his Caribbean holiday home has been put on the market for a whopping $17 million. Featuring 10 bedrooms, two beaches and even a purple-coloured driveway, the property is an idyllic escape that embraces its natural environment. Away from Princeโs permanent home in Minneapolis, it is located in the Turks and Caicos, with 10,000 square feet of living space.

After giving birth just three weeks ago, Chrissy Teigen looks incredible and the supermodel is already back in action. The 30-year-old, who just celebrated her first Motherโs Day, shared a snap from the set of a photo shoot on Monday, with one new addition to her work life: baby Luna!
Image: Snapchat
On her Snapchat, Teigen shared a glam shot of her photo shoot look (above) before giving her fans a peek behind the scenes, where she breastfed 3-week-old Luna Simone. This star may be getting back in the modelling game, but she isnโt putting her mummy duties to the side.

But this isnโt the first time sheโs gotten real about motherhood โ Chrissy has recently described her struggles with spray tanning while using a breast pump as a hilarious experience.
Teigen and her husband, John Legend, havenโt hesitated to share their adorable newborn with the world. Just last weekend, the singer took to Instagram to wish his wife a happy Motherโs Day with the sweetest photos of their baby girl.

Big surprise: after clogging our Instagram feed with overly-sculpted, Kardashian-levels of contouring, the beauty world has decided to go in the complete opposite direction and embrace non-touring.
So what, exactly, is non-touring?
Just like strobing is another fancy name for highlighting, non-touring is the latest buzzy, social-media way to describe that dewy, no make-up make-up youโve been doing forever (with a side of highlighting).
There are only three steps to this dewy, you-but-slightly-better look:
1. Start with a colour-correcting or brightening primer all over (weโre currently loving Hourglass Ambient Light Correcting Primer).
2. Dab on a little tinted moisturizer or alphabet cream (ie a BB or CC cream). If you have really excellent skin (weโre jealous!), skip this step and just go over any trouble spots with concealer.
3. Hit the high points of your face with a cream or powder highlighter. So thatโs your cheekbones, brow bone and bridge of the nose. Extra brownie points if you apply a little over the cupidโs bow.

Just hours after the music video was released for her new single โMe Tooโ, Meghan Trainor took down the video due to her body being Photoshopped without her permission.
The singer famously sung about loving her curves and fighting back against Photoshop in her song โAll About That Bassโ, so as can be expected, she did not take this issue lightly. She took to Snapchat to explain the situation and apologised to her fans.
โHey guys, I took down the โMe Tooโ video because they Photoshopped the crap out of me,โ she said in a series of videos. โIโm so sick of it and Iโm over it, so I took it down until they fix it.
Image: YouTubeImage: YouTube
โMy waist is not that teeny; I had a bomb waist that night! I donโt know why they didnโt like my waist, but I didnโt approve that video and it went out for the world, so Iโm embarrassed.โ
While Meghan Trainor has asked the video team to fix the video as soon as possible, in the meantime she will be going to Times Square and playing the song for her fans anyway.
โThe video is still one of my favourite videos Iโve ever done, Iโm very proud of it, Iโm just pissed off that they broke my ribs!โ

What do Meryl Streep, Jennifer Lawrence and Mariska Hargitay have in common?
They all met last week to celebrate the premiere of a new docu-series, Woman.
Hosted and co-produced by feminist icon Gloria Steinem โ and aired on Viceland โ Woman documents the ways in which violence against women drives global instability.
Even the seriesโ trailer is inspiring. It opens with the words: โI only want to remind you and me tonight what what weโre talking aboutโฆ is a revolution.โ
โIโve travelled the world as a writer and an activist my entire life, and I can tell you that by confronting the problems once marginalized as womenโs issues, we can tackle the greatest dangers of the 21st centuryโฆBehind every major crisis, thereโs an unseen factor at play, thereโs a story youโve never been told. The greatest indicator of the worldโs stability, wealth and safety is the status of women.โ
The eight-episode season travels to a range of regions around the globe, from Colombia, where it speaks to women involved in FARC, Canada, where it looks at the hundreds of women who have gone missing and been murdered.
Viceland is not currently available on Australian television.

Her JโAton Couture dress was one of the most instagrammed at the Logies. But as soon as Rebecca Judd arrived home, it was just another item in her childrenโs dress-up box.
Judd, who is pregnant with twins, posted a video to her Instagram account showing her two children, Oscar, 4, and Billie, 2, jumping on the dress and burying themselves in it.
JโAton gowns can retail for $10,000 (and even up to $30,000).

On her website, www.rebeccajuddloves.com, the television presenter described her dress โ which was custom-designed โ as a โfull princess gownโ.
โIt is a look and silhouette I have never done before and so I thought the time was right. I like to take risks, push the boundaries and do something different every time I hit the red carpet. You will never see me in black and you will never see me in a style Iโve done before.โ

After bringing us films like Iron Man, Spiderman, X-Men and Ant-man (have you spotted the common denominator yet?), Marvel has now all but confirmed that it will release a movie based on the female character of Black Widow.
Marvel boss Kevin Feige yesterday told Deadline,
โWe think [The Black Widow] is an amazing character. We think Scarlett Johanssonโs portrayal of her is amazing. Sheโs a lead Avenger and has amazing stories in her own right to tell that we think would be fun to turn into a stand-alone franchise.โ
โOf the characters that youโve just mentioned I would say certainly the one creatively and emotionally that we are most committing to doing is Black Widow.โ
A new female-superhero movie is long overdue. Last year fans even launched an international flash mob campaign calling for the Black Widow to get her own movie.
And the Black Widow (aka Natasha Romanoff) is an interesting character. Played by Scarlett Johansson, she has appeared in multiple Marvel movies. Sheโs been in films like Iron Man 2, the Captain Americamovies, and The Avengers series, where audiences got a look at her controversial origin story: a killer ballerina who undergoes forced sterilization.
Will Johansson play her if the film materialises? We hope so.

Kristen Stewart recently parted ways with girlfriend Stephanie โSokoโ Sokolinski. Like all her other previous loves, (Robert Pattinson, Rupert Sanders), her relationship with the French musician has been talked about by practically everyone.
Stewart not only doesnโt care about the attention, she refuses conform to anyoneโs ideas of who she should be. Go K-Stew! She recently opened up to Variety about her sexuality, and the reality of dating in the public eye.
On acceptance and labelling: โThereโs acceptance thatโs become really rampant and cool. You donโt have to immediately know how to define yourselfโฆI had to have some answer about who I was. I felt this weird responsibility, because I didnโt want to seem fearful. But nothing seemed appropriate. So I was like,โ Fโk, how do I define that?โ Iโm not going to. Plus, I didnโt want to fโk with other people. I didnโt want to be this example: Itโs so easy. I donโt want it to seem like it was stupid for them to have a hard time.โ
On refusing to define herself: โMe not defining it right now is the whole basis of what Iโm about. If you donโt get it, I donโt have time for you.โ
On the Snow White & the Huntsman sequel: โI read a few scripts. None of them were good. None of them were greenlight-able. And I had a meeting with Universal about the places where the story could go. Maybe Chris was more into it. I actually donโt fโing knowโฆIt wasnโt a situation where I got kicked off a movie because I got in trouble. We had been in talks months after that about making something work, and it never came together.โ

Itโs about to get a whole lot easier to add a little Parisienne chic to your wardrobe.
One of our favourite French labels is opening an outpost in Melbourne.
Sandro โ which offers an understated yet feminine take on French style โ opens tomorrow, May 12, in the St Collins Lane precinct.
It will join The Kooples โ a contemporary rock โnโ roll French label โ and Zadig and Voltaire, which was founded by the grandson of Lacoste and offers luxurious basics, and edgy separates.
Weโre hoping that Maje โ the sister label of Sandro โ will follow suit.

Selena Gomez has been prepping for a long time for her Revival tour, and knowing that it would be very demanding, she decided she had to get fit. While the singer usually leads a healthy lifestyle, she got a personal trainer to help her get better at staying hydrated and to increase her stamina for the tour.
She revealed the steps she took in a recent interview, including Pilates, yoga and SoulCycle. She explained how these had helped with her strength, but also with her breathing โ which is important as a singer!
โBasically, I wanted to mix things up because I get bored easily. I just try to keep it fresh. I love how Pilates makes me feel, like it opens me up,โ says Selena. โItโs peaceful and it helps me relax. And Iโm doing two shows back to back, and thatโs cardio in itself.โ
Her personal trainer, Amy Rosoff Davis, also had an important role in teaching her techniques to stay hydrated. Selena even shared her juice recipe:
โI do two carrots, ginger, I do one piece of celeryโI know, thatโs lame, but oneโand then half of a beet. Those are the things I always keep around.โ
Before the tour, she said:
โAt the moment, Iโm training every day to build my stamina up for the tour. But donโt get me wrong โ it was not like this before the tour [laughs].โ
Now that sheโs kicked off the tour, clearly all her hard work has paid off. Go, Sel!
