This Is The New Way To Wear A Dress For Spring

The trend youโ€™re about to see everywhere

You know the scene: โ€œFlorals? For Spring?โ€ deadpans Meryl Streep as Miranda Priestly, the editor of Runway, in 2006โ€™s The Devil Wears Prada.

โ€œGroundbreaking.โ€

So what keeps Myerโ€™s new crop of floral dresses feeling fresh? For starters, the below styles tick off two trends at once, mixing eye-catching waratah, orchid and rose prints with midi lengths.

Plus of-the-moment cuts give the look a contemporary kick. Think super-flattering wrap designs (the dress of choice for It girls like Margot Robbie), cut-outs and one-shouldered shapes that elegantly expose a little skin or asymmetric hemlines that add interest and visually lengthen legs.

11 Celebrities Who Have Spoken Out In Support Of Same-Sex Marriage

"If you like it you should be able to put a ring on it"

With the proposed same-sex marriage plebiscite just around the corner, weโ€™ve gathered some of our favourite Aussie and non-Aussie celebs who have previously spoken in favour of marriage equality.

โ€œCan you please explain to me why we are still talking about marriage equality in 2017? Can we just have an answer about why same sex marriage is still not legal? Knowing that other people donโ€™t have the same rights makes me feel angry, powerless and very disappointedโ€ โ€“ Jessica Marais

โ€œThe other thing I want to say about Jersey is they need to get on the New York bandwagon and legalise gay marriage. But I think everybody should do that. Itโ€™s not a specifically Jersey thing.โ€ โ€“ Anne Hathaway

โ€œThe reason weโ€™re not rushing to get married is because I donโ€™t feel appropriate taking advantage of a right thatโ€™s denied to my best friends. Thatโ€™s why weโ€™ve been so hesitant. Dax and I have talked about it a lot, and this issue is very important to both of us. Weโ€™re just standing up for what we believe in. Period.โ€ โ€“ Kristen Bell

โ€œTo be honest, as an Australian who travels a lot, it makes me feel ashamed of my country. People are always saying โ€˜I canโ€™t believe you donโ€™t allow gay marriageโ€™ and all I can do is agree. Itโ€™s embarrassing.โ€ โ€“ Jesinta Franklin

I feel great embarassment that our federal law recognises heterosexual marriage as a basic human right, yet regards same-sex partnerships as inferiorโ€ โ€“ Asher Keddie

โ€œI was stoked. I mean, I was stoked that that happened. I think itโ€™s just . . . weโ€™re people and weโ€™re different, all of us. And we should be using our differences to bring ourselves closer together . . . it was a great, great victory for equality. Iโ€™m proud that New York has balls to stand up for whatโ€™s right.โ€ โ€“ Justin Timberlake

โ€œBut everybody in hip-hop discriminates against gay people. Matter of fact, the exact opposite word of โ€˜hip-hop,โ€™ I think, is โ€˜gay.โ€™ Like yo, you play a record and if itโ€™s wack [sic], โ€˜Thatโ€™s gay, dog!โ€™ And I wanna just come on TV and just tell my rappers, just tell my friends, โ€˜Yo, stop it fam.โ€ โ€“ Kanye West

โ€œThis is such a huge step forward in our countryโ€™s fight for civil rights and I hope that today this will give hope to so many young people across the country. Weโ€™ve never had a president so supportive of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community and today I am proud to be an American!! Iโ€™m so happy that our country is making history and moving forward.โ€ โ€“ Kim Kardashian

Mother Drowns In Tragic Boating Accident, Saves Daughter

Her boyfriend revealled he was planning to propose during the trip

Southern California mother Tasha Turner was one of seven people on travelling on a boat on the Colorado River on Saturday, for a day of tubing.

Tasha was joined by her boyfriendโ€”who had a ring in his pocket and was ready to propose that weekendโ€”and her eight-year-old daughter.

But tragedy struck when the boat lost power and begun to sink, NBC Los Angeles reports.

Deputy William Poe explained that while the other passengers managed to swim away from the sinking vessel, Tasha could not free herself from a rope attached the boat and was dragged under water.

Tashaโ€™s family said that when she realised she was going to drown, she handed her daughter, Genesis, to a jet-skiier who stopped to help.

โ€œBefore her mom threw her, she gave her a hug and said, โ€˜I love you. Goodbye,โ€ Tashaโ€™s sister, Myesha Turner said.

Tashaโ€™s boyfriend, Norris Salah, explained: โ€œThe boat was so heavy I believe it got tied up around her and pulled her inโ€.

Norris told the publications that he and Tasha had dated for four years, and that he was planning to propose to her during the trip. He described her as a selfless and incredibly friendly woman.

โ€œShe really loved people. She was a people person and had a lot of friends. It was insane,โ€ he said, Havasu News reports.

The motherโ€™s body was found by dive teams on Sunday.

A GoFundMe page was launched to raise funds for her 8-year-old daughter. You can donate here.

Why Do 8-Year-Old Girls Want New Vaginas?

More Australian women (and disturbingly, young girls) are seeking the procedure

Eloise* had hated her vagina since she was eight years old. She was in the bath with her step-sisters one summerโ€™s day when her step-mum pointed out she had an โ€œoutieโ€ while they all had โ€œinniesโ€. Her sisters began teasing her incessantly. โ€œI realise now that itโ€™s not such an irregular occurrence, but back then I only wanted to look like my sisters,โ€ says Eloise, now 23. โ€œI was so unhappy and broken about it, from that point onwards I literally didnโ€™t let anyone see me naked.โ€

High school was a constant battle to avoid change rooms and intimate encounters. After puberty, it became uncomfortable to wear a swimsuit and participate in sports because of chafing. Sex education classes only made things worse when they showed labelled diagrams of supposedly perfect neat vulvas that looked nothing like her own. Eloise thought she must be so abnormal that she was too scared to even tell girlfriends or her mum about it. โ€œI thought if I talked to my mum about the problem sheโ€™d take me to doctors to get poked and prodded like a freak,โ€ she says. When Eloise was around 15 she discovered that her โ€œproblemโ€ might have a solution. Labiaplasty โ€“ surgery to alter or remove part of the labia minora (the inner vaginal lips) so it more closely resembled textbook images of vaginas. She stored the information away.

Shortly after, Eloise fell in love for the first time and trusted her partner enough to let him see her naked, only to have him comment that her vagina looked โ€œweird.โ€

(Credit: Getty Images)

โ€œIt broke my heart and made me want the surgery even more,โ€ says Eloise.

โ€œIt wasnโ€™t until I finally broke up with him when I was 22 that I got it done.โ€ In the course of her research into labiaplasty, Eloise realised that her vagina wasnโ€™t actually abnormal. her GP also reassured her that there was nothing wrong with it. But still, the psychological damage wouldnโ€™t heal. Eloise booked in with a private cosmetic surgeon at the end of last year. A week later she was sore and swollen, but back at work. Within a month she was able to have sex again.

โ€œNothing has been affected, it looks so much better,โ€ she says. โ€œItโ€™s a bit of recovery time, but the pain was gone after a few weeks and, if anything, sex feels better now.โ€ Eloise is part of a growing number of women who are electing to undergo labiaplasty surgery, despite the fact that thereโ€™s no diagnosable medical issue with their genitalia. The procedure itself isnโ€™t new โ€“ itโ€™s been around since the 1970s. But between 2001 and 2013, the number of Australian women claiming the surgery on Medicare more than doubled from 640 to 1605 annually. One doctor in Sydney claims he performs the procedure 400 times a year. The trend is reflected throughout the developed world โ€“ in 2014, labiaplasty was the second-fastest-growing cosmetic procedure in the US, beaten only by buttock augmentation.

By the end of 2014, so many women were requesting the surgery that the Australian government stopped it being claimable on Medicare and private health funds unless it was deemed medically necessary by a doctor. Instead, women now have to pay anywhere between $3000 and $9000 โ€“ but even with this price tag, evidence suggests demand has only grown. Most women want the surgery for similar reasons to Eloise โ€“ their inner labia are large, uneven or hang down outside their outer vagina lips, and theyโ€™re un-happy with how this looks. Jennifer, a 47-year-old-mother-of-two, said she wanted the surgery ever since she had a Brazilian wax and noticed her shape more clearly.

WHAT IS โ€œNORMALโ€ ?

Labia come in a range of colours and shapes, and most arenโ€™t symmetrical. A 2005 study published in the International Journal of Gynecology & Obstetrics found that womenโ€™s inner vaginal lips could be anywhere between 2cm to 10cm long and have a width of 0.7cm to 5cm. The same paper showed that most labiaplasties are performed on perfectly normal tissue. According to Dr Gemma Sharp, a researcher from Flinders University who conducted her PhD on the rise of labiaplasty surgeries, most women go through their lives without seeing another un-retouched vagina.

The Australian classification board stipulates that magazines and films sold and distributed in the โ€œUnrestrictedโ€ category (not recommended for people under 15 and below are not allowed to feature labia minora. This means images of naked women are photoshopped to get that โ€œtucked inโ€ look โ€“ even if theyโ€™re to be used for health or education purposes. Similarly swimwear shoots and advertisements have to be trimmed and edited to leave no trace of a โ€œcamel toeโ€ if they want to make it through the classification process.

The rise in popularity of the Brazilian wax doesnโ€™t help, nor does the increased access to online porn meaning men are basing their expectations on unrealistic images. A 2014 study published in the journal Body Image showed that a third of women wanting labiaplasty were teased about their vaginas, often by their partners. โ€œIf you get negative comments from someone you love in an intimate situation, that stays with you,โ€ says Dr Sharp. Private clinics donโ€™t need to report data on the number of surgeries they perform, so itโ€™s impossible to obtain official numbers on how many women are getting labiaplasty.

But GP Dr Magdalena Simonis, who authored the guidelines for the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) about how doctors should respond to women requesting genital surgery, suspects itโ€™s far more common than people realise. โ€œItโ€™s something GPs are being flooded with,โ€ she says. A study conducted last year stated one in three GPs are now fielding requests for the procedure from girls under 18.โ€  Yet 50 per cent of the doctors said these girls had diagnosed or undiagnosed mental health issues. Since October 2016 the Medical Board of Australia has advised that girls under 18 who want labiaplasty should receive mandatory counselling, in addition to a cooling off period of three months.

โ€œI wish Iโ€™d had it done ages ago,โ€ she explains. โ€œItโ€™s definitely helped me feel more confident in the bedroom.โ€

But the reality is that an โ€œoutieโ€ vagina is completely normal โ€“ about half of all women have labia minora that are longer than their labia majora.

Plastic surgery
(Credit: Getty Images)

โ€œWomen seem to have this skewed perception of whatโ€™s โ€˜normalโ€™ and whatโ€™s acceptable,โ€ says Dr Simonis. โ€œWeโ€™re seeing girls and young women who have very little experience in the world, and presumably very little sexual experience, and theyโ€™re prepared to have this radical surgery thatโ€™s irreversible.โ€ Many plastic surgeons are equally concerned with how the surgery is sold to vulnerable women. One Sydney clinic told marie claire they get around 10 enquiries every week about labiaplasty and that they turn away at least two to three of these women based on suspicions they only want the surgery due to body dysmorphia, or because theyโ€™re under pressure from a partner.

The problem is that for every responsible clinic, thereโ€™s another willing to take someoneโ€™s money. And the reality is many women are now so concerned about how they look, theyโ€™re willing to try anything. Dr Simonis cites a colleague whose patient allegedly went to Thailand for the surgery and woke up with a complete clitoridectomy (removal of the clitoris). On a Reddit forum, someone claiming to be a 14-year-old girl wrote that she hates the look of her vagina so much sheโ€™s considering trying to cut off the โ€œexcessโ€ tissue herself, seeing as her parents wonโ€™t let her get the surgery.

RIGHT TO CHOOSE

The increased demand and spotlight on labiaplasty is causing some experts and politicians to question whether the surgery should be performed at all. In the UK, thereโ€™s a renewed push to ban the procedure, seeing as it technically falls under the definition of female genital mutilation (FGM) โ€“ the removal of some or all of the external features of a womanโ€™s vagina, often including the labia and clitoris. The World Health Organization defines it as โ€œprocedures that intentionally alter or  cause injury to the female genital organs for non-medical reasonsโ€. FGM is common practice in many African countries and the Middle East, but is illegal in Australia and the UK.

Unlike labiaplasty, FGM is frequently performed without anaesthetic and is forced upon girls by family members. โ€œWe cannot tell communities in Sierra Leone and Somalia to stop a practice which is freely permitted in Harley Street,โ€ MPs on the UK Home Affairs Select Committee wrote in a  report, referring to the London street famous for its cosmetic surgery clinics. โ€œLabiaplasty is culturally driven and one would have to ask whether itโ€™s also female genital [mutilation],โ€ associate professor Sonia Grover, director of the Department of Gynaecology at the Royal Childrenโ€™s Hospital in Melbourne, told SBS in 2012. In Australia, Victorian state legislation already stipulates the removal of the labia minora from girls under the age of 18 as FGM unless it is โ€œnecessary for the health of the personโ€. (As yet no cases of elective labiaplasty surgery on under-18s have been prosecuted.) While feminist writer and Guardian columnist Van Badham doesnโ€™t believe we should enact a total ban on labiaplasty, she is concerned that weโ€™ve reached a point where women are making decisions about their anatomy driven by cultural expectations.

โ€œWomen need to make their own choices about their bodies and the skin they feel confident in,โ€ she explains.

โ€œBut I wonder how much of it is really womenโ€™s choice when the media and culture is feeding them a constant diet of standardisation and telling women that they look abnormal when they donโ€™t.โ€ Eloise finds this viewpoint frustrating. She does admit it would have been nice to find out from a younger age that her vagina looked normal, and adds that education might have been reassuring, but insists only the surgery could make her feel confident. โ€œI think women should wait until theyโ€™re 18 and take the time to properly research the surgery,โ€ she says. โ€œBut if it will make them more comfortable and happier, why shouldnโ€™t [they] have it done?โ€ Dr Sharp agrees that the last thing women need is more people telling them what they can and canโ€™t do with their bodies. โ€œWe have this idea that doing something for appearanceโ€™s sake is not a valid reason โ€“ especially when it comes to womenโ€™s vaginas. Weโ€™re more accepting of boob jobs and nose jobs than we are of labiaplasty.โ€

Her research also shows that, like Eloise, most women are happy with the results of their surgery in terms of function and appearance. There are also positive shifts in educating young girls: resources such as LabiaLibrary.org.au, a website developed by Womenโ€™s Health Victoria which provides women with free access to unaltered images of real vaginas. โ€œThe big distinction between our culture and the cultures who are performing FGM is that women in Australia have the ability to make the choice for themselves,โ€ says Dr Simonis. โ€œWe just need to make sure women are empowered with the right information, so they know their own bodies and their decision is educated.โ€

US Mum To Sue Hospital After Newborn Suffocates

She alleges nurses placed her newborn in her bed so she could breastfeed him

In August 2012, US mother Monica Thompson gave birth to a beautiful baby boy at Portland Adventist Medical Center in Oregon.

But just four days after Jacob was born, the new mother accidentally smothered the child in her hospital bed, 7 News reports.

Ms Thompson is now suing the Portland hospital for $US 8.6 million ($10.9m AUD), claiming that it is at fault for the death of the infant.

Ms Thompson alleges nurses put Jacob in bed with her in the middle of the night to be fed. She says she was heavily medicated with painkillers and sleep aids and fell asleep, OregonLive reports.

The lawsuit filed by Ms Thomspon alleges that when she woke up, she found her son was not breathing.

Doctors found the little boy had suffered severe hypoxia and that his brain was โ€œseverely and permanently damagedโ€. Six days later, he was removed from life support and sadly passed away when doctors advised his state was irreversible.

Ms Thompson claims the hospital has โ€œdirectly caused her severe emotional distress, severe depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, severe anxiety and prolonged grief disorderโ€.

According to TIME, Portland Adventist Medical Center spokeswoman Kristi Spurgeon Johnson said she could not comment on the allegations or lawsuit until the hospital had reviewed to matter. The spokesperson also did not comment about the hospitalโ€™s policy on newborns and bed sharing.

SIDS and Kids Australia recommend that babies should sleep in their own safe sleeping environment next to a parentโ€™s bed for the first 6โ€“12 months of life, to help prevent infant deaths.

Shock Email Goes Viral As Boss Accidentally Hits โ€˜Reply Allโ€™

"Someone should sew her vagina shut"

A horrifically sexist email has gone viral after the boss of a Hollywood talent agency accidentally hit โ€˜reply all.โ€™

The unintended recipient, Rosette Laursen, shared screenshots of the email thread to Facebook, writing: โ€œYou know when someone accidentally gets CCโ€™d on an email and itโ€™s awkward for everyone?โ€

Before going on to explain that she had emailed her boss, Michael Einfeld, and asked for the day off on International Womanโ€™s Day for the โ€˜A Day Without A Womanโ€™ movement โ€“ which encouraged females to take a day off work to demonstrate the value they bring to the workplace in protest of the gender pay gap.

Rosette recieved this response, which she notes was meant to only go to two (male) coworkers:

โ€œAre you f****ng kidding me. At the end of pilot season. Someone should sew her vagina shut. Iโ€™m never hiring a girl ever again.

No bonus for anyone that strikes or leaves early in pilot season. No one is striking in show business we are all against Trump. And women are considered diverse and being shoved in as writer and directors. Zach who is a Jewish male is being pushed out.

Uppity Selfish C***. Heather went to work. Iโ€™m sure anyone at a casting office or agency would be fired.โ€

sexist reply

She then received the following apology โ€“ if it can even be classed that way: โ€œI apologize for venting like a misogynistic fa***t. I was letting off steam I didnโ€™t mean to hit reply all. Iโ€™m an a**hole. If you come back we can play Nazi death camp. You can beat me and put me in the oven. Or feed me cabbage and lock me in the shower. I am truly sorry.โ€

Rosette replied with a simple: โ€œI quit.โ€

She then went to a lawyer who specialises in workplace harassment, and her boss decided to, very maturely, ignore all communication.

โ€œHe tried calling my bluff by completely ignoring every letter, phone call and email from the lawyer, essentially refusing to settle privately,โ€ Rosette wrote. โ€œMy lawyer said this had never happened in all his years practising as a specialist in hostile work environments.โ€

Because the next step was to take the case to court โ€“ where the emails would become public, anyway โ€“ Rosette decided to, instead, drop the case and share the emails to social media in hopes that the story would be shared.

โ€œI donโ€™t want people like [him] to get away with whatever behavior they want because they know no one is going to do anything about it.โ€

Second Born Children Are More Likely To Have This Controversial Personality Trait

Does the research ring true in your family?

Second-born kids (who often end up being the long-suffering middle child) donโ€™t get quite the same level of attention paid to precious first borns. And it seems like theyโ€™re making the most of it.

A new study has found that second-born kids are more likely to be rebellious. Their data looked at thousands of sets of brothers in the US and Europe, and showed that second in line were 20 to 40 percent more likely to get in serious trouble at school or with the law.

In many circumstances, little brothers have have substantially higher rates of juvenile crime, particularly severe violent crime, and imprisonment than do their older siblings.

rachel ross

The study suggests that this might relate to changes in parenting styles from the first to second child.

โ€œIn addition to the fact that first-borns experience undivided attention until the arrival of the second-born, we discovered that the arrival of the second-born child has the potential to extend the early-childhood parental investment in the first-born child.โ€

Co-author of the report, Joseph Doyle, told NPR that changes in the family dynamic also play a role.

โ€œThe firstborn has role models, who are adults. And the second, later-born children have role models who are slightly irrational 2-year-olds, you know, their older siblings,โ€ Doyle told NPR.

โ€œBoth the parental investments are different, and the sibling influences probably contribute to these differences we see in the labor market and what we find in delinquency. Itโ€™s just very difficult to separate those two things because they happen at the same time.โ€

Princess Dianaโ€™s Driver Breaks His Silence 20 Years After Fatal Crash

โ€œItโ€™s very difficultโ€

Two decades since the fatal car crash that killed Princess Diana, one of her most trusted aides, chauffeur Colin Tebbutt, has spoken out about the days that followed.

RELATED: Princess Dianaโ€™s Most Memorable Style Moments

Breaking his 20-year silence on the car accident, Colin Tebbutt, a retired royalty protection squad police officer, has revealed his regret that he wasnโ€™t the one driving that night, saying, โ€œI think they went in too fastโ€ฆ Iโ€™ve driven through the tunnel myself.โ€

Speaking to Good Morning Britain, Tebbutt also explained how he, together with Paul Burrell, took care of practicalities in Pitie-Salpetriere, the Paris hospital Princess Diana was taken to. The pair set up a โ€œmake-shift morgueโ€, the Daily Mail reports, sourcing fans to keep the hot room cool and boarding up the windows with blankets to keep out the prying eyes of the public and press.

โ€œItโ€™s very difficult and emotional to see a person lying in a bed and not in a mortuary,โ€ Tebbutt told the program. โ€œI went and got some fans to cool the room down. As I turned around, the eyelashes and hair of the Princess were moving, caused by the fan, and that just struck me.โ€

โ€œI had to turn away, think about it and then grip myself back and get on with what I was doing.โ€

Kate Middletonโ€™s Secret Tribute To Princess Diana

This is too sweet

Being the Duchess of Cambridge has its upsides, one of those being: borrowing tiaras and crowns from the queen.

Considering she has spent a crazy amount of money on clothes this year (the Duchess refuses to let designers dress her for free), Kateโ€™s jewellery collection must be pretty damn impressive.

But what we didnโ€™t know was that for years the mother-of-two has silently been paying homage to the mother-in-law she never knew, Princess Diana.

According to The Mirror, When Kate gave birth to Prince George in 2013, her sister, Pippa Middleton, gifted her a simple Merci Maman gold pendant with her firstborn sonโ€™s name engraved.

The thoughtful gift echoes a Merci Maman necklace that Princess Diana was given by husband Prince Charles after the birth of their son Prince William in 1982.

Fans Question Selena Gomezโ€™s Decision To Join Woody Allen Film

She's joined an untitled project from the director

Selena Gomez has joined the ranks of Emma Stone, Kristen Stewart, Blake Lively and Cate Blanchett, who have all worked with controversial American director Woody Allen.

And many fans are not happy.

Gomez will star in an untitled Allen project, alongside Elle Fanning and Timothรฉe Chalamet, EW reports.

A dark shadow was cast over Allenโ€™s illustrious career following allegations that he molested his adopted stepdaughter, Dylan Farrow, in 1992.

In 2014, Farrow wrote a heartbreaking open letter that said Allen abused her when she was seven years old at Mia Farrowโ€™s Connecticut home. She also called out actress Cate Blanchett for starring in Allenโ€™s Blue Jasmine, which won her an Oscar.

โ€œWhat if it had been your child, Cate Blanchett? Louis CK? Alec Baldwin? What if it had been you, Emma Stone? Or you, Scarlett Johansson? You knew me when I was a little girl, Diane Keaton. Have you forgotten me?,โ€ Farrow wrote.

This year, Gomez was a driving force behind the Netflix series 13 Reasons Why, which tackled the repercussions of sexual assault.

The actressโ€™s decision to join Allenโ€™s filmโ€”in light of the abuse allegationsโ€”was called out on Twitter:

The claims against Allen were investigated in 1993, but prosecutors did not press charges. The director denies the abuse ever took place.

Matty J Will Be The First Australian Bachelor To Have An โ€˜Overnightโ€™ Date

Which girl will he bring to the ultimate romantic spot?

Matty J is reportedly set to become the first Australian Bachelor contestant to use the infamous ~fantasy suite~.

The Bachelor will be bringing one lucky lady to a romantic overnight retreat in next weekโ€™s episode, reports OK! Magazine. And if thatโ€™s not exciting enough for you, it will apparently be the second date for this contestant.

In the US version (and most other versions around the globe) the Bachelor or Bachelorette has the opportunity to bring the top three contestants for a romantic and intimate evening in the fantasy suite, where there are no cameras.

The room has a history of being used for hookups and, of course, speaking candidly without a team of producers and cameramen all up in your business.

While Mattyโ€™s retreat doesnโ€™t follow the traditional โ€˜fantasy suiteโ€™ format, weโ€™re still very interested to see how this one pans out.

Tim Robards famously declined the option for a fantasy suite in Australiaโ€™s first ever season, and the option was never offered on-screen again.

โ€œI think I did the guys in because I was the first one to say โ€˜no overnight datesโ€™ and they followed suit so I think Iโ€™ve screwed it up for everyone,โ€ he told The Daily Telegraph last year.

Hopefully, producers introduce the option from now on, as whatever contestants choose to do โ€“ or not do โ€“ behind closed doors is up to them, but letโ€™s be honest: the aftermath would make for far better TV than the faux feuds and manufactured drama.

Taylor Swift Testifies In Court Over DJ Who Allegedly Touched Her Inappropriately

โ€œIt was horrifying and shocking"
Tyalor SwiftGetty

Taylor Swift has taken the stand in court to testify against the radio host who allegedly groped her during a meet and greet in 2013.

Swift was posing for photos with fans, when David Mueller allegedly put his hand behind her back, โ€œlifted her skirt and groped her.โ€ Immediately, Taylor had the 55-year-old escorted from the premises, with the singerโ€™s management alerting his employer of what had happened.

Mueller was fired two days later. He then sued the star, her mother and his former employer, claiming he was โ€œfalsely accusedโ€, seeking $3.8 million (AUD) in damages.

Swift is counter-suing for assault and battery, taking the stand overnight to relive the โ€œhorrifying and shockingโ€ moment.

The 27-year-old told the jury that Muellerโ€™s act was โ€œvery intentional,โ€ before going on to say that she had never experienced anything like it.

During questioning, Muellerโ€™s lawyer, M. Gabriel McFarland, suggested that Swift could have taken a break from the meet and greet after the alleged grope, and asked whether she was critical of her bodyguard for not stepping in to stop what was allegedly happening.

โ€œNo, I am critical of your client for sticking his hand under my skirt and grabbing my bare ass,โ€ she replied, as reported by CNN.

Taylor Swift
Swift with her mum, who said the incident โ€œmade her want to vomitโ€.

โ€œIโ€™m not going to allow you or your client to make me feel in anyway that this is my fault because it isnโ€™t,โ€ the singer continued, before saying, โ€œI am being blamed for the unfortunate events of his life that are a product of his decisions and not mine.โ€

She was also asked why, in the photo that shows her posing with Mueller, the front of her skirt is not ruffled.

โ€œBecause my ass is located on the back of my body,โ€ the singer shot back.

โ€œIt happened to me. He had a handful of my ass. It happened to me. I know it was him,โ€ she added when asked if she was sure that it was Mueller who had groped her.

โ€œI didnโ€™t need a picture. I could have picked him out of a line of a thousand.โ€

โ€œYou can ask me a million questions about it and Iโ€™m never going to say something different. I never have said anything different.โ€

Swift is suing for just $1, and has said she will donate any potential monetary awards from the trial to organisations โ€œdedicated to protecting women from similar acts of sexual assault and personal disregard.โ€

3 Ways To De-Stress Right Now

Taking it from โ€˜arghโ€™ to โ€˜ahhhhhhโ€™
Kamalaya

marie claire will be hosting a two-hour Wellness Workshop on Wednesday, August 30 at 6:00pm at Sydneyโ€™s QT Hotel and we invite you to join us! This is your opportunity to learn invaluable tips on how to destress, reboot, and recharge your life. Click here to register your attendance. Tickets are $39 + booking fee and there are only 50 tickets available.

With stress and burnout becoming a modern-day plague, marie claire has teamed-up with Koh Samuiโ€™s Kamalaya Wellness Sanctuary & Holistic Spa, to bring you expert tips on how to take your headspace from crazed to calm.

Kamalayaโ€™s Co-founder & Concept Director and Master of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Karina Stewart, shares some tops tips that can be practiced anywhere, anytime.

  1. Spend time in nature. Even if itโ€™s just a five-minute walk through the park or sitting by a tree, without your phone or a book, it works.
  2. Slow down. Taking 10, long, deep breaths shuts down the fight-or-flight stress response.
  3. Reduce caffeine. โ€œI do drink very light caffeine: Iโ€™ll make one pot of Chinese tea, and get eight washes out of that pot, which delivers micro-doses of caffeine as the day goes on. It doesnโ€™t jolt the nervous system the way coffee does.โ€

Karina is no stranger to the effects of burnout, having survived a near-fatal car accident years ago. She now describes the accident as โ€œthe best wake-up callโ€ and is grateful for the deep understanding of stress, and its horrific effects, that she gained from it so she can help her clients work towards a balanced and happier life.

After canapes and refreshments upon arrival, our General Manager, Jackie Frank will lead a Q&A with Karina on best practices for stress management in our โ€˜coping economyโ€™.

Karina says โ€œCoping, to me, means that people are trying to find strategies to just get by, which is not the best approach. In the end, coping is a stop-gap measure, a way of reacting to your environment. Itโ€™s short-term thinking, versus putting ourselves in the driverโ€™s seat.โ€

Our Wellness Workshop will conclude with an exclusive meditation led by Karina. You will also take home a beautiful gift courtesy of Kamalaya.

Research Finds Vitamin B3 Supplements May Help Prevent Miscarriages

Yep, vitamin B3 is found in Vegemite

Groundbreaking Australian research has found vitamin B3 supplements may significantly prevent miscarriages and birth defects.

Scientists at the Victor Chang Institute in Sydney reported that having low levels of the molecule nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) can damage embryos in the first weeks of pregnancy, the ABC reports.

The instituteโ€™s researchโ€”based on experiments with miceโ€” found that boosting vitamin B3 intake could help avoid miscarriages and birth defects caused by NAD deficiency.

โ€œWe gave pregnant mice with the NAD gene knocked out a regular dose of vitamin B3 and we found it prevented miscarriages and birth defects, over-riding the genetic block,โ€ Professor Dunwoodie told the ABC.

On Wednesday night, The Project addressed the significance of the Australian research for women world-wide.

Co-host Ryan Fitzgerald spoke about the traumatic experience of losing his first child, and the power of vitamin B3 for pregnant women.

โ€œI think the importance thing about this, guys, is awareness of B3,โ€ he said. โ€œMy wife and I, we unfortunately lost a child, we had a miscarriage, our first child Cayley Jay around about nine years ago, with spina bifida, which can be associated with low levels of B3.โ€

โ€œWe didnโ€™t really know about it, [my wife] started taking it after that and we had two healthy boys after that,โ€ Fiztgerald continued.

โ€œThis is great for awareness now for women to take it while they are pregnant.โ€

B3 can be found in everything from Vegemite, red meat, vegetables and supplements.

Your Weekly Horoscopes Are Here: August 11th โ€“ August 18th

See what the stars have in store for you this week...

If you celebrate your birthday this week:

Your Year Ahead

Some Leos have a tryst with destiny this year: to become a leader against cruelty.  Whether youโ€™re fighting against domestic violence, the harming of animals or the environment โ€“ for you now, might makes right.  Sure, the Leo nature is usually more playful โ€“ but your inner Rescuer breaks through. Tremendous satisfaction comes with the experience of battling for a cause. Many will benefit from your active involvement.

Aries (March 21 โ€“ April 20)

Best Day: Friday 11th

Something feels wrong, Aries.  For starters, your financial judgment is โ€œoffโ€.  Stay open and honest in all your dealings, and assume everyone else to be the opposite.  Check documents for unnoticed errors and keep credit cards under control.  Donโ€™t overspend.

Taurus (April 21 โ€“ May 20)

Best Day: Monday 14th

There are times when we experience loss or significant change in our lives. If this is your current situation, try to see this as just one more of lifeโ€™s experiences.  Thereโ€™s no need for fear.  This too, shall pass.  Remember, without endings, there can be no new beginnings.

Gemini (May 21 to June 21)

Best Day:  Thursday 17th

It may be hard to keep your feet on the ground when all of your senses are flying sky high.    Right now, many Geminis seem preoccupied with anything but the here-and-now.  The most likely culprit?  That crazy little thing called love.

Cancer (June 22 โ€“ July 22)

Best Day: Tuesday 15th

The cosmos is fully aware of your professional merits and now helps to promote them. Donโ€™t waste this chance โ€“ take advantage of new opportunities. Thereโ€™s nothing more satisfying than seeing hard work pay off, and winning the respect of bosses and colleagues alike.

Leo (July 23 โ€“ August 23)

Best Day: Friday 11th

Youโ€™re quick to learn, Leo โ€“ so this week should suit you well. The planets promote an atmosphere of open chat, and thereโ€™s so much new to learn. At the same time, discard outworn attitudes and embrace the new.  Then stand by for the unexpected.

Virgo (August 24 โ€“ September 22)

Best Day:  Wednesday 16th

A crises can force a change of mind โ€“ and this week brings such a time.  Along with altering the way you think and react to others, you develop a deep need to strengthen your inner power.  Just donโ€™t forget to recharge your batteries every few days.

Libra (September 23 โ€“ October 23)

Best Day:  Saturday 12th

Apart from the occasional moment of uncertainty, a delightful week awaits.  On the whole, you feel energetic and confident.  Better still, both friendships and finances feature highly; and if you come across as being a tad over exuberant, youโ€™ll be forgiven.

Scorpio (October 24 โ€“ November 22)

Best Day: Friday 11th

Well, hereโ€™s one for the books. Scorpios can be resistant to change.  But this week, if anyoneโ€™s going to search for excitement, itโ€™ll be you. Somethingโ€™s caught your imagination.  Fun takes priority โ€“ a happier you breaks through.  Enjoy your special moments.

Sagittarius (November 23 โ€“ December 21)

Best Day: Tuesday 15th

This week is well-suited for deep thought. Your mind is ready to come up with new plans, but it needs some quiet time to piece the puzzles together.  Others may try to distract you โ€“ but donโ€™t let them.  You donโ€™t need their company right now.  You need to concentrate.

Capricorn (December 22 โ€“ January 20)

Best Day: Wednesday 16th

Knowledge is power.  Itโ€™s also the key to a successful and satisfying future, so make new studies a priority this week.  Travel could also expand horizons.  If these options arenโ€™t possible, then simply pick up a new book.  Youโ€™ll be amazed at what you could learn.

Aquarius (January 21 โ€“ February 18)

Best Day:  Saturday 12th

Seems youโ€™ve stepped into the right week, Aquarius.  Youโ€™re positively dripping with charisma, and cheeky enough to flaunt it.  Words roll smoothly off your tongue, and that fierce jungle that we know as business is practically eating out of your hand.  Lure in the prey.

Pisces (February 19 โ€“ March 20)

Best Day: Monday 14th

We all move on and leave things and people behind. Itโ€™s the way this old world of ours turns. But before starting on lifeโ€™s next chapter, bring unresolved issues to an end. If you donโ€™t, the cosmos will do it for you.  And Iโ€™m sure youโ€™d prefer to be the one in control.

How To Do Your Make-Up Before A Big Event

Your black tie beauty guide

In an ideal world, weโ€™d all be equipped with a glam squad โ€“ better yet, a glam room, Kardashian-style โ€“ to get us primped and preened for big events.

But the harsh reality is, sometimes (read: most times) we have to do our own hair and make-up. Sigh.

If youโ€™ve got your day-to-day routine down pat but need a little extra help in the after-dark department, keep reading: follow the steps below for selfie-ready success.

1/ Prep your skin

Prepping your skin is just as important as the make-up application to follow. Do as celebrity make-up artist Charlotte Tilbury does and apply a face mask to freshly cleansed skin: we love the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Concentrated Recovery Powerfoil Mask (a Victoria Beckham favourite) and the SK-II Signs Eye Mask to nix signs of fatigue.

Follow with your usual skincare but be sure to include a primer to help your look stay in place all night: the Giorgio Armani Prima Skin Perfector is an office favourite.

2/ Combat shine

When it comes to red carpet make-up, thereโ€™s good shine, and thereโ€™s bad shine. Good shine: anything that makes the high points of your face (think cheekbones and brow bones) pop; bad shine: the grease you get on your T-zone. Boost your natural glow by dabbing highlighter cream along cheekbones, brow bone and just above your cupidโ€™s bow and nix shine along your T-zone with a light dusting of translucent powder (try M.A.C Prep + Prime Transparent Finishing Powder). And always pack blotting papers in your clutch for touch-ups.

3/ Fix your lips

The key to pulling off a statement lip is all in laying the groundwork. Use a gentle lip exfoliating scrub the day of your event to buff away dead skin, then follow with a moisturising balm. Pre-lipstick application, use a dedicated lip primer (try Napoleon Perdis Auto Pilot Lip Service) to provide a smooth base for your product, then frame the lip with a pencil close to your natural colour to prevent feathering. Pro make-up artists like to apply the lipstick colour with a brush, rather than directly with the bullet, for an even finish โ€“ blot once then reapply to boost your lookโ€™s staying power.

4/ Master eye-make-up

Make-up artists agree: blending at least two eyeshadow colours will give the eyes dimension and a subtle smoky effect without looking overdone. Blend outwards to elongate the eye area, and always precede mascara with an eyelash curler to open up your peepers to full effect. For eyes that look come-hither-big even when the cameras are flashing, rim your lower inner lash line with a nude pencil (white will look too harsh). You can even try a touch of shimmer powder in the inner corners for added brightness.

Jennifer Lawrence Opens Up About Boyfriend Darren Aronofsky

Following rumours of her causing Chris Pratt and Anna Faris' split

Jennifer Lawrence usually stays pretty quiet about her personal life. Though the 26-year-old Oscar-winning actress has been linked to director Darren Aronofsky over the past year, neither party has ever confirmed their romance.

However, over the past week, Lawrence has unwittingly been thrown into the middle of a media storm, following the announcement of Chris Pratt and Anna Farisโ€™ separation.

Immediately, people started blaming her for the beloved Hollywood coupleโ€™s marriage breakdown, saying it must be due to affair rumours that surrounded Lawrence and Pratt during filming for their movie Passengers

โ€˜โ€We had energy,โ€ Lawrence tells Vogue US of meeting Aronofsky on the set of mother!, before adding: โ€œI had energy for him. I donโ€™t know how he felt about me.โ€

โ€œWhen I saw the movie, I was reminded all over again how brilliant he is,โ€ she says of watching mother! for the first time. โ€œFor the past year, Iโ€™ve been dealing with him as just a human.โ€ Lawrence then praised her boyfriend as an โ€œamazing fatherโ€, before saying: โ€œIโ€™ve been in relationships before where I am just confused. Baby Miraculously Found Alive After Being Abandoned 3 Days Earlier

The infant was discovered by neighbours

An 8-month-old child spent three horrific days alone after being abandoned by its motherโ€”but miraculously survived the ordeal.

As Time reports, the infant was found in a plastic bag alive outside a home in update New York on Tuesday.

The babyโ€™s mother, 17-year-old Pennsylvania woman Harriette Hoyt, has been charged with attempted murder.

Court documents allege that Ms Hoyt left the young child in the backyard of a home near some bushes.

โ€œMy sister came out off the porch and went to the side to the backyard of my neighbourโ€™s house with a stick, thinking it was a dog,โ€ local resident Karen Seals told WENY.

โ€œHer legs were just dangling in the bag, her head was in the bag, her whole head was covered all the way down,โ€ Karenโ€™s sister, Kayla, added.

The baby was found dirty and dehydrated and was taken to hospital. The infant is now in a stable condition.

Elmira police Sgt. William Solt said the sisters were โ€œtruly heroes in this incidentโ€.

Weโ€™ve grown accustomed to reporting on the It-Brit foundation with a 25,000 waiting list or the Korean watermelon face mask taking the world by storm, but this week, a multi-purpose product made right here in Australia is the source of all the hype.

Maybe itโ€™s because itโ€™s millennial pink, or maybe itโ€™s because they have a very savvy Instagram strategy, but the Sand & Sky Brilliant Skin Purifying Pink Clay Mask sold over 50,000 units in its first eight weeks alone, and, as InStyle reports, attracted a waitlist of 2000+ people at one point.

UK Schoolgirl Jailed For โ€œWickedโ€ Acid Attack

She has been sentenced to 21 months in prison

A UK schoolgirl has been jailed over an โ€œutterly wickedโ€ acid attack on a peer, after the other girl started dating her ex-boyfriend.

As The Telegraph reports, Emily Bowen, now 18, poured drain cleaner into a viola case owned by Molly Young in September 2016. Both girls were 17 at the time.

Young pulled her viola case off a shelf from a music room at Knox Academy, in East Lothian, and the liquid spilt over her legs.

A court heard the acid burned through the victimโ€™s clothes and onto her skin, leaving her โ€œscreaming in painโ€.  They also were told the young woman suffers from โ€œshooting pain and nerve damageโ€.

As news.com.au reports, Bowen had researched acid attacks online after she heard that Molly had started seeing her former boyfriend.

Sheriff Michael Oโ€™Grady QC sentenced Bowen to 21 months imprisonment, describing the attack as โ€œutterly wickedโ€.

โ€œYou researched this topic and should have been aware of the potentially horrendous consequences for any young woman maimed by this,โ€ he told Bowen.

โ€œYou have left a young woman to suffer a terrifying ordeal and she will be both physically and mentally scarred for the rest of her life.โ€

Bowenโ€™s defence solicitor, Jim Stephenson, had argued Ms Bowen had been diagnosed with autism and depression.

This Twitter Thread Proves Rachel And Joey Were The Perfect โ€˜Friendsโ€™ Couple

RIP Ross and Rachel

When #relationshipgoals couples come up in conversation, somehow Ross and Rachel always make the list.

I mean, it makes sense. We watched them on our screens every night for 10 whole seasons, rooted for them every time they broke up โ€“ or were on โ€˜a breakโ€™ โ€“ and endured every one of Rossโ€™ other marriages only to hope heโ€™d realise Rachel was the one for him.

But Twitter user Claire Willett is here to shake things up, saying that Rachel shouldnโ€™t have ever ended up with Ross โ€“ wait for it โ€“ and that instead, she belongs with Joey.

In a long thread, titled โ€˜In defence of Rachel and Joeyโ€™, Claire points out some seriously good facts.

Firstly, she notes that Joey and Rachel had years of friendship behind them before they started a romantic relationship, whereas Ross never saw Rachel as anything other than a romantic interest.

She also says that Ross was more concerned by being the kind of guy his hot high school crush Rachel would go for, than actually being with her.

Check out some of the best points below.

These Friends Turned Their Love Of Shopping Into A Business Empire

The founders of Sabo Skirt reveal their secret to success

Thereโ€™s nothing more satisfying than clicking โ€˜add to cartโ€™ and buying a brand new outfit โ€“ with matching heels and accessories. Thessy and Yiota Kouzoukas, who are friends and sisters-in-law, took their passion for shopping to the next level in 2010, when they started a fashion blog.

Little did they know that same blog would turn into one of Australiaโ€™s most successful online storesโ€ฆ

After receiving an overwhelming amount of traffic and followers on their blog, the friends decided to start their own online store, selling the clothes they were wearing. After planning and saving up for a year, Sabo Skirt launched in 2011.

โ€œThe early days were exciting, scary and very long,โ€ says Thessy. โ€œWe were working off a kitchen table and turned our spare room into a studio for photo shoots.โ€

Sabo Skirt
Thessy and Yiota created a DIY photo studio in their spare room.

By 2012, the pair had moved from the kitchen table and into an actual office, where they launched their own exclusive label, Sabo Skirt. โ€œIt was both exciting and nerve wracking to grow so quickly. Trying to manage the logistics, processes and systems was chaotic,โ€ says Yiota.

And to do it required all of their time and energy. โ€œBeing in our very early 20s, it was difficult to sacrifice our social lives completely,โ€ says Thessy, who also mentions how hard it was for them to pour their savings into the business instead of spending their dollars shopping.

Looking back now, they both agree the sacrifices were worth it. Today, Sabo Skirt has a following of over two million on social media, is stocked in David Jones and has a staff of 14.

The pair made the Forbes 30 Under 30 list last year, Yiota is currently shooting their new campaign in Greece and theyโ€™re both preparing to show at New York Fashion Week next month โ€“ for the third time.

As if that wasnโ€™t enoughโ€ฆ Emily Ratajkowski, Kylie Jenner, Ariana Grande and the Hadid sisters are all fans of Sabo Skirt. โ€œI definitely pinch myself every time I see a photo of a celebrity wearing one of our pieces,โ€ says Yiota.

The friends credit their success to being early in the game, garnering a massive Instagram following and having unique content with personality. Their advice for other shopping-loving businesswomen? โ€œBe passionate from the beginning, stay focused on your goals and remember that everything big starts from something small.โ€ Hereโ€™s some more sage adviceโ€ฆ.

THESSY

Secret to success: Love what you do. I know this sounds clichรฉ but truly, if you love what you do youโ€™ll never have to โ€œworkโ€ a day in your life!

Breakfast of champions: Rolled oats with frozen raspberries. And a green tea, of course.

Best advice: Donโ€™t sweat the small stuff! I can often find myself stressing over small issues. I tell myself โ€œwill this matter in 5 years?โ€ If the answer is no, I donโ€™t bother stressing about it.
Hardest lesson: You can never please everyone. I have learnt this over time, from juggling friends and business, to trying to keep customers and followers happy.

Best job interview tip: Be yourself. Try to inject your personality into the interview as much as possible. You and the employer will get a good idea if your personality is a fit for the environment.

Coffee order: Iโ€™m more of a tea girl! Coffee isnโ€™t good for my disease, endometriosis.

Wind down: I escape to the Gold Coast most weekends and take long walks on the beach. I love to fall asleep listening to the ocean.

YIOTA

Secret to success: Passion and hard work. The more you put in, the more youโ€™ll get out, always.

Breakfast of champions: Avo on toast.

Best advice: Stay humble and be appreciative of every achievement, big or small. Focus on the good and treat others how you would like to be treated.

Hardest lesson: To focus on your own goals and success instead of other peopleโ€™s.

Best job interview tip: Be prepared! Anticipate about 10 questions that you might be asked and rehearse your responses before you get there. Confident responses are always impressive in an interview.

Coffee order: A banana, milk and honey smoothie.

Wind down: Brunch with my friends and family on the weekend.

Prince Harryโ€™s Ex-Girlfriend Dishes On Their Relationship

โ€œPeople are very quick to put you in a boxโ€

While Prince Harry holidays in Africa with girlfriend Meghan Markle, his ex, Cressida Bonas, has spoken out about their relationship woes.

The professionally trained dancer-turned-actress and Prince Harry were together for two years, between 2012 to 2014, when they split up due to the pressures of being in the public eye.

The 28-year-old Brit It-girl, who is currently starring in the West End stage production Mrs Orwell, spoke to BBC Radio 4 about the parallels between her character, George Orwellโ€™s overlooked wife Sonia, and her experience as Prince Harryโ€™s girlfriend.

โ€œI think itโ€™s that thing of being pigeonholed, especially in this country, I find people are very quick to put you in a box or put you in a corner and think, โ€˜oh well youโ€™re that, so you must be this,โ€ Bonas said.

โ€œItโ€™s incredibly frustrating, especially in the industry Iโ€™m in,โ€ she says. โ€œBut, you know, it is the way it is. Itโ€™s about making a stand and saying no, this is who I am and this is what I want to do.โ€

Bonas has struggled to shed her โ€˜Prince Harryโ€™s exโ€™ label and be taken seriously as an actress. She was named a Mulberry ambassador in 2015 and danced in a campaign film for the luxury label, and will star alongside Alicia Vikander in the upcoming Tulip Fever.

Australia Reacts To Same-Sex Marriage Postal Vote Decision

"If you value mutual respect: vote yes. If you want all Australians to be equal: vote yes"

Following on from the Senateโ€™s rejection of a same-sex marriage plebiscite, the Turnbull government will move to conduct a postal vote.

Politicians and same-sex marriage advocates have argued the voluntary, non-binding vote disrespects LGBTQ citizens and is a sham. Did we mention it will cost Australians an $122 million?

Speaking in the Senate on Wednesday, Senator Penny Wong said a public vote would expose the children of same-sex parents to โ€œhatredโ€.

Hundreds of other Australians weighed in on the current marriage equality in the country. Hereโ€™s our round up of some (of many) powerful takes on the matter.

A Colombian Judge Has Not Accepted Cassie Sainsburyโ€™s Plea Deal

The 22-year-old Adelaide woman appeared in court

A Colombian judge has rejected to accept Cassie Sainsburyโ€™s plea deal. The alleged drug smuggler is now facing 30 years behind bars if she is proven guilty.

According to The Nine Network, the Judge who made the call, Sergio Leon, revealed he was not interested in the 22-year-old Adelaide womanโ€™s deal which would involve a reduced jail term of six years in return for naming people behind a drug smuggling ring.

This decision comes after Sainsbury made claims that she has only agreed to smuggle 5.8kg of cocaine due to threats which were aimed at her family members.

Fans Are Losing It Over The Cliffhanger Ending On โ€˜The Bachelorโ€™

"How many of you feel personally victimised by the way the Bachelor ended tonight"

If you caught The Bachelor on Wednesday night, you can be forgiven for thinking it was an episode of reality show drama UnReal.

Fans were equal parts shocked and stoked to see an ACTUAL producer on screen soothing Sian when she wanted to leave the show (โ€œIf he knew that you were in here upset, he would absolutely give a shitโ€).

But what really got Twitter in a tizzy? The show ended on a cliffhanger mid-rose ceremony with the title card โ€˜โ€to be continuedโ€ flashing up on the screen. Yes, that really just happened.

Florida Mother Charged After Allegedly Driving With Daughterโ€™s Body For More Than A Day

Motorists watched as a woman allegedly pulled a child's body out of her car

A US woman has been charged after allegedly concealing the body of her 11-year-old daughter in her car.

On Sunday, two motorists discovered a car in rural West Virginia that had slammed into a guardrail.

According to police, motorists said that they saw a female pull a childโ€™s body, wrapped in a blanket, from inside the car and drag it into the woods, The Washington Post reports.

Attending to the scene, police identified the woman as 37-year-old Florida woman Erica Newsome, with the body of her 11-year-old daughter, Kaye-lea Plummer.

State Police Sgt. Herby Barlow told local media that Kaye-lea has died in Jacksonville at least 24 hours earlier and that foul play was suspected in her death.

โ€œIt was obvious that the 11-year-old did not die from injuries from the accident,โ€ Barlow told the Pocahontas Times. โ€œHer injuries were non-motor vehicle injuries.โ€

โ€œAt this time, foul play is suspected in the childโ€™s death and we believe the death occurred in Jacksonville, Florida,โ€ the sheriffโ€™s office there said.

As news.com.au reports, Ms Newsome has been arrested on charges of concealing the body of her daughter.

The girlโ€™s father, Donath Plummer, said his estranged wife had texted him on Sunday morning with the news she was bringing Kaye-lea to Buffalo, New York, where he lived.

โ€œWe didnโ€™t always agree on everything, but she was a great mother. I donโ€™t know how this could have happened,โ€ Plummer said. โ€œSomething is very, very wrong. She needs help. She really needs help.โ€

Politicians Slam Postal Vote On Same-Sex Marriage

โ€œIt's exposing our children to that kind of hatredโ€

A host of politicians slammed the Turnbull governmentโ€™s plan to go ahead with a postal ballot on same-sex marriage, following the Senateโ€™s rejection of a compulsory plebiscite.

City of Sydney Councillor Christine Forsterโ€”who is also the sister of Tony Abbottโ€”appeared on The Project on Wednesday night to point out the flaws in the postal vote.

The councillor explained that marriage equality was an issue that should never have been politicised in Australia. Forster said her brother was just โ€œplain wrongโ€ in his negative stance on same-sex marriage.

โ€œAs a gay woman, whoโ€™s in a relationship, who wants to get marriedโ€”and Tonyโ€™s well aware of our plans to get marriedโ€”itโ€™s not a really nice thing to hear somebody belittling our plans to get married,โ€ she explained.

โ€œAt the end of the day, this is simply about all Australians being equal before the law, itโ€™s about mutual respect.

โ€œItโ€™s about my right to be able to stand in front of my family and friends and say โ€˜I doโ€™ to [my partner] Virginia.โ€

Earlier in the day, Senator Penny Wong condemned the decision to hold a public vote on same-sex marriage, claiming it would expose children to more hatred and harm.

In a powerful speech in the Senate, Senator Wong urged the Turnbull government to forgo an expensive and divisive public vote.

โ€œThis ainโ€™t a respectful debate,โ€ she said.

โ€œThis is a vote because some in the Coalition can never countenance equality, and theyโ€™re never going to change their minds.โ€

Senator Wong has two children with her partner Sophie. She rejected claims that a public vote could be a โ€œunifying momentโ€ for Australia.

โ€œThe Australian Christian Lobby described our children as the stolen generation,โ€ she declared .

โ€œWe love our children and I object, as do every person who cares about children, and as do all those couples in this country, same-sex couples who have kids, to be told our children are a stolen generation.

โ€œYou talk about unifying moments? It is not a unifying moment. It is exposing our children to that kind of hatred.โ€

Her speech comes in the wake of former prime minister Tony Abbottโ€™s heartless attempt to encourage Australians to vote โ€œnoโ€ against the same-sex marriage.

As SBS reports, ballot papers for the vote are expected to be posted from September 12, with a return date of November 15. We could learn the results by November 15.

A High Court challenge to the proposed postal vote on same-sex marriage will be lodged this week.

Jesinta Franklin On The One Facial Treatment She Canโ€™t Get Enough Of

The secret to a model-worthy glow

Spare a thought for Jesinta Franklin (nee Campbell): while most of us only exercise intensely and try to say no to chocolate in the lead-up to our wedding day (if at all), sheโ€™s had to keep it up long after saying โ€˜I do.โ€™

But then, it comes with the territory. As one of Australiaโ€™s top models, sheโ€™s got her David Jones ambassador hat on today to walk in their SS17 show alongside Jessica Gomes, Shanina Shaik and Briget Malcolm. We caught up with the rising star backstage as she had her hair and make-up done by M.A.C and Aveda to find out just what it takes to look so good โ€“ and were surprised by what we found out.

Whatโ€™s your best backstage beauty secret?

It always starts with skin prep for me. I always come with my face fully cleansed and moisturised. The trick is not to apply too much foundation. A make-up artist once told me she only applies foundation around the sides of the face and then keeps the t-zone quite clean because thatโ€™s where the skin is the clearest, so it gives the illusion that the skin is perfect and fresh.

Youโ€™ve got a great new fringe โ€“ whatโ€™s your advice for anyone contemplating getting one cut?

Itโ€™s a long fringe, so I can wear it forward, or I can push it back, which weโ€™ve done for tonightโ€™s show. My advice to girls, if they want to get a fringe, is to start with a long fringe, so you can push it back and push it forward if you want to. I think getting a blunt fringe straight up is quite difficult.

Do you change your skincare regime in the lead-up to a show?

My skincare regime is really simple. I cleanse and moisturise every single night, I always remove my make-up before going to bed. I use a foam cleanser at night and a cream cleanser in the morning. I think a foam cleanser really gets in there and gets all the make-up off.

RELATED: Jessica Gomesโ€™ 2-Second Trick To Always Looking Amazing

Do you get facials or treatments regularly?

Maybe once every couple of months. I think if you over-cleanse or over-exfoliate you risk over-stimulating your skin, which can cause more problems. But I do like to have a facial before a show- last week I had a Hydra Facial at All Saints Clinic in Double Bay, itโ€™s like microdermabrasion but done with water. My skin felt so hydrated afterwards. Itโ€™s not as harsh as microdermabrasion, which I love, especially because I wear so much make-up for work, but before a show like this, and if you had a wedding or an event coming up, you donโ€™t want to run the risk of breaking out.

And I swear by the Healite II LED therapy. Itโ€™s the best thing ever, I think theyโ€™ve just introduced it to NSW hospitals for patients whoโ€™ve had major surgery because itโ€™s so anti-inflammatory. Itโ€™s like Omnilux but a million times better.

What skincare do you swear by?

I keep it so simple at home, and the big thing Iโ€™ve learnt is that expensive products donโ€™t always equal results. Itโ€™s often the cheaper, simpler products that give results. Iโ€™m the face of Olay and since Iโ€™ve been using them Iโ€™ve experienced such a change in my skin. I used to have the most expensive creams and potions and serums and masks, but since using Olay you can actually see a difference. I went to a dermatologist before I signed on and he said Olay was one of two brands he would ever recommend to his clients.

How do you physically prepare for a big show or shoot?

I definitely up the ante with my training regime and my healthy eating plan. I eat really balanced for a good two months and then in the last two weeks I hone in on eating super healthily. A day on my plate would look like an egg white omelette in the morning with chilli flakes because that helps boost your metabolism, with some brown onion and mushrooms, a handful of baby spinach and half an avocado โ€“ good fats are so good for your hair, skin and brain function. I think a lot of women cut out fats when theyโ€™re trying to eat healthily, but theyโ€™re so good for you! Then for lunch I have chicken with asparagus or a salad and a bit of brown rice, and dinner is barramundi with greens and sweet potato. Iโ€™ll snack on almonds and have a banana before training.

What training do you do?

I started Muay Thai this year, itโ€™s amazing. Itโ€™s really full on! I have three people on my fitness team: Dan Adair, who does all my conditioning and strength work โ€“ weights, butt, abs, all that kind of thing, and then I train with a world champion boxer in Melbourne, Will Tomlinson. I flew down there for a week with him before I had to shoot all the lingerie and swimwear for this season! And then I have Brendan McDonnell for the Muay Thai. For me the key is staying motivated and changing it up helps me with that.

That said, I never work out for more than an hour a day. Any more than that is way too much. You can get a great workout in 45 minutes, you donโ€™t need to do anymore than that.

Finally, what are your favourite pieces for SS17?

I love all the Aje pieces, my finale dress is so beautiful! I love how romantic and feminine it is. I also love all the new athleisure from PE Nation and The Upside. And thereโ€™s some great new pieces from Ellery as well.

Jessica Gomesโ€™ 2-Second Trick To Looking Amazing Every Day

When the model speaks, we listen

Jessica Gomes is one of those women who always has an envy-inducing glow. No matter how hectic her schedule, or how many long-haul flights sheโ€™s packed into one week, the Australian model, who now calls LA home, is always impossibly radiant.

The David Jones ambassador has recently bottled her beauty secrets, launching her very own skincare range, Equal Beauty. So of course, when she touched down in Sydney to walk in tonightโ€™s David Jones SS17 show, we set out to get the goss on exactly what she does (and eats!) to look so damn good.

1/ What are your go-to skincare products?
Equal Beauty Moisture Veil. I also love Chanel La Solution 10 because itโ€™s easy and smells really nice!

2/ What make-up donโ€™t you leave the house without?
Tinted moisturiser, bronzer and mascara โ€“ they are the absolute basics.

3/ Whatโ€™s the best ever backstage make-up tip youโ€™ve ever heard?
The difference an eyelash curler can make! I always curl my lashes before applying mascara to give them that extra lift.

4/ Whatโ€™s the secret to keeping your hair looking so good?
I always ensure I use a quality shampoo and conditioner that focuses on whatever my hair is needing. Something with hydrating properties is great for ensuring I eliminate dryness. I also love to use coconut oil in my hair when I feel it needs some extra love.

5/ Do you have hair products you canโ€™t live without?
I love Avedaโ€™s Pure Abundance Style Prep Spray, it adds great texture to my hair when I want to blow dry it.

I see Fumi Yamamoto for a Zen Facial. Itโ€™s Lymphatic Drainage. I go to the Last Resort Bondi for colonics and also Melanie Grant for Omni Lux. I try to jump in an infrared sauna as well for a nice little detox.

8/ What else does your pre-show skincare or hair care prep involve?
Lots of water and hydration! I also love a treatment for my skin with Jocelyn Petroni and she does the best mani and pedi.

9/ How do you tweak your diet/exercise regime before a big show?
I usually just eat very healthily! Lots of greens, fish, brown rice and oats. No drinking alcohol and I really try to cut out all sugars.

This Is How A Significant Age Gap Can Affect Your Marriage

Age is more than just a number

The classic rule of โ€˜half your age plus sevenโ€™ is often thrown around when determining the ideal age of your partner.

But a new study published in the Journal of Population Economics offers a surprising new insight into the magic age for marital bliss.

According to the study, couples with a significant age gap were likely to be less satisfied with their marriage over the years than pairs who were a similar age.

โ€œWe find that men who are married to younger wives are the most satisfied, and men who are married to older wives are the least satisfied,โ€ Terra McKinnish, of the University of Colorado Boulder said in a statement.

โ€œWomen are also particularly dissatisfied when theyโ€™re married to older husbands and particularly satisfied if theyโ€™re married to younger husbands.โ€

Catherine Zeta Jones

She added that satisfaction erodes quickly after 6-10 years of marriage for couples with a big age gap.

โ€œOver time, the people who are married to a much older or younger spouse tend to have larger declines in marital satisfaction over time compared to those who are married to spouses who are similar in age,โ€ McKinnish said.

Deakin Universityโ€™s Wang-Sheng Lee, who co-authored the report, told ABC Radio Melbourne that couples with a greater age gap were more likely to be living on a single income.

โ€œThis also could contribute to them being more financially vulnerable if something bad happens,โ€ he said.

The research looked at 13 yearsโ€™ worth of data from the Melbourne Instituteโ€™s HILDA survey.

Of course, the study only offers observations about the Australian population and is not an indictment on couples with large age gaps.

โ€œItโ€™s not making a statement about the French president, Donald Trump, George Clooney or any of the other Hollywood celebrities โ€” weโ€™re just saying something more about the typical Australian couple,โ€ Dr Lee said.

The Royal Family Is Banned From Eating This One Food When Dining Out

Foodies will not like this

If you have always wanted to marry Prince Harry, this may change your mind: according to certain sources, the British royal family are banned from consuming shellfish.

That means no sautรฉed mussels with an Aperol spritz when in Italy, no oysters and champagne in New York, and definitely no pippis at yum cha. In other words: a life barely worth living.

Those with blue blood coursing through their veins are warned to stay away from shellfish because of the higher-than-usual risk of food poising the seafood represents.

Senator Wong Slams Marriage Plebiscite In Powerful Senate Speech

โ€œIt's exposing our children to that kind of hatredโ€

Senator Penny Wong has slammed the decision to hold a public vote on same-sex marriage, claiming it will expose children to more hatred and harm.

Following on from the Senateโ€™s rejection of a same-sex marriage plebiscite, the Turnbull government will move to conduct a postal vote, The Australian reports.

Women Get Revenge On Man Who Booked SIX Dates In One Night

โ€œDonโ€™t f**k with us.โ€
Getty

This could go down in history as the worst date ever. A woman from Washington DC was shocked when she realised her blind date had scheduled another date on the same night.

Lisette Pylant was even more shocked when she found out he had booked to meet six (yes, SIX) women in one night at the same restaurant.

When the third woman showed up, Pylant decided it was time to team up and โ€œJT Must Die this shit.โ€

Luckily for us, she live tweeted the entire nightโ€ฆ

https://twitter.com/LisettePylant/status/894695461289963520

Hilariously, she said one of the women asked if there was going to be a rose ceremony.

https://twitter.com/LisettePylant/status/894701126859272193

After making a joke of the situation (and their date), the three women โ€œdecided to be best friends, left together to go get drinks at another bar and left homeboy with the bill.โ€

But it doesnโ€™t end there. As the other women showed up to meet โ€œhomeboy,โ€ Pylant enlisted her friend to retrieve them.

https://twitter.com/LisettePylant/status/894711077216407552

โ€œIโ€™m stealing his dates and making them my friends and Iโ€™m SO HERE FOR IT,โ€ she wrote on Twitter, adding, โ€œMRS. STEAL YOUR GIRL OVER.โ€

Pylant posted photos of her and her new found friends enjoying their night together, and theyโ€™ve now been retweeted thousands of times.

https://twitter.com/LisettePylant/status/894746299571949569

In one her last tweets, she said, โ€œYou win some, you lose some โ€“ but hopefully you make three new best friends in the process, cheers ladies, donโ€™t f**k with us.โ€

A lesson for everyone: donโ€™t f**k with women because weโ€™ll take revenge on you and live tweet it.

Sinead Oโ€™Connor Reveals Mental Health Battle In Viral Video

"People who suffer from mental illness are the most vulnerable people on Earth"

Singer Sinead Oโ€™Connor has spoken candidly about her battles with mental health in an emotional 12-minute video posted to Facebook.

In the footage, the teary Irish singer explains that she is currently living in a motel and was abandoned by her family as a result of her mental health struggles, CNN reports.

โ€œPeople who suffer from mental illness are the most vulnerable people on Earth,โ€ she said.  โ€œYouโ€™ve got to take care of us. Weโ€™re not like everybody.โ€

In the video, the โ€œNothing Compares 2 Uโ€ singer explained she had struggled with suicidal thoughts.

โ€œI have been wanting to go for two f***ing years. Iโ€™m a 5โ€™4โ€ little f***ing woman wandering the world for two years by myself,โ€ she said.

โ€œIโ€™m now living in a Travelodge motel in the arse-end of New Jersey.

โ€œ[No one] except my doctor, my psychiatrist โ€” who is the sweetest man on earth who says Iโ€™m his hero โ€” and thatโ€™s about the only f**king thing keeping me alive at the moment. The fact that Iโ€™m his bloody hero โ€ฆ and thatโ€™s kind of pathetic.โ€

The 50-year-old singer shared the video along with the hashtag #OneOfMillions in the hope of shining a spotlight on the countless others with mental health issues who did not have access to appropriate care.

โ€œI know that Iโ€™m one of millions of millions of millions of people who are just like me actually who donโ€™t have necessarily the resources that I have in my heart โ€“ or my purse for that matter,โ€ she explained.

The post has since gone viral with more than 1.4 million views and 8300 shares.

Eurythmics singer Annie Lennox shared her concern for Oโ€™Connor in a Facebook post.

โ€œI realise that Sinead has some serious mental health issues, but she appears to be completely out on a limb and Iโ€™m concerned for her safety,โ€ she wrote.

โ€œAre there no close friends or family who could be with her to give her some loving support?โ€

A representative of Oโ€™Connor later posted an update on her Facebook page reassuring fans that the singer was currently in good care.

โ€œHi everybody, I am posting at Sineadโ€™s request, to let everyone who loves her know she is safe, and she is not suicidal,โ€ the post reads.

โ€œShe is surrounded by love and receiving the best of care. She asked for this to be posted knowing you are concerned for her.โ€

The Internet Is Going Crazy Over This Regina George Doppelgรคnger

That is SO fetch

Last week, everyone lost their minds over Gigi Hadidโ€™s Instagram twin, and before that, two Dubai bloggers broke the internet after being compared to Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner.

Now, in our favourite doppelgรคnger moment yet, a high school student is going viral after Twitter users noticed her uncanny resemblance to Mean Girlsโ€™, Regina George.

Over the weekend, April, a high school student in the US, tweeted two photos from her yearbook.

Quickly, the internet noticed her uncanny resemblance to the Queen of Plastics, Regina George and the photos were shared thousands of times.

https://twitter.com/April_ONELOVE/status/893342091593490432?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw&ref_url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.elleuk.com%2Flife-and-culture%2Fculture%2Fnews%2Fa37611%2Fmean-girls-regina-george-doppelganger-twin-twitter%2F

Twitter being Twitter, users took the opportunity to comment their favourite Mean Girlsโ€™ lines under the images.

โ€œI heard your hair is insured for $10,000 dollars,โ€ one person wrote.

โ€œWell, I heard she met John Stamos on a plane, and he told her she was pretty,โ€ another replied.

April, however, canโ€™t see the likeness. โ€œIโ€™m surprised because I still donโ€™t really see the resemblance but I guess it resonated with a lot of people. Itโ€™s kind of amusing actually,โ€ she told E! News

Horrifying CCTV Footage Shows Woman โ€˜Pushedโ€™ In Front Of Bus By A Jogger

Police are appealing for information about the jogger

London police hope that horrifying CCTV footage released will help track down a jogger who โ€˜pushedโ€™ a woman into the path of a bus.

The 35-year-old woman was walking on Putney Bridge on the morning of May 5, The Guardian reports.

The footage shows the dramatic moment a male jogger, who was travelling in the opposite direction, knocked her to the ground.

The woman fell into the gutter and was narrowly missed by a double decker bus, which swerved just in time to avoid a collision.

Sergeant Mat Knowles, the investigating officer from the Putney Safer Neighbourhood Team, said they were searching for the jogger in the CCTV footage.

โ€œThe victim was put in extreme danger when she was knocked into the road,โ€ he said, ABC reports.

โ€œIt was only due to the superb quick reactions of the bus driver that she was not hit by the vehicle.โ€

According to police, the man retuned to the bridge 15 minutes later and was seen jogging on the other side of the road. The female victim attempted to speak to him, but the man kept jogging.

โ€œWe are keen to speak to the jogger in the CCTV about what happened that morning,โ€ Sergeant Knowles said.

โ€œWe would urge him or anyone who recognises him to get in touch with us as soon as possible.โ€

Amber Heard And Elon Musk Confirm Break Up With Instagram Posts

"Being in the public eye means having to explain yourself"

Following a week of speculation, actress Amber Heard and her billionaire boyfriend Elon Musk have confirmed their break up.

The pair, who went Instagram official in April, cited work commitments and long distance for the split, with both saying they still care about each other.

First, Elon commented โ€œCuteโ€ one one of Amberโ€™s recent posts, before writing a longer statement in the comments about their relationship status.

โ€œBtw, just to clear up some of the press storm this weekend, although Amber and I did break up, we are still friends, remain close and love one another,โ€ he wrote.

Amber then followed up with a statement of her own, writing: โ€œBeing in the public eye means having to explain yourself to so many people, so much of the time,โ€ the actress started underneath a picture of the words โ€˜Giveโ€™, โ€˜Loveโ€™, and โ€˜Joy.โ€™

โ€œIn this case, Iโ€™d like to remain more quiet. Although we have broken up, Elon and I care deeply for one another and remain close. Thank you for the continued support, respect, and privacy during these difficult, very human times.โ€

Takeaway Shop Jokes Its Pizza Crusts Are Thinner Than Victoria Beckham

Not. Okay.

An eatery in North East England is under fire for its outrageous piece of advertising that claims its pizza crusts are thinner than Victoria Beckham.

As The Telegraph reports, Sidhu Golden Fish and Chips in Battle Hill has a slogan on the back of a delivery van that boasts, โ€œOur new Victoria Beckham Thin Crust only 2mm thin!!โ€

The message is accompanied by a cartoon depiction of Victoria Beckham wearing as sash that reads: โ€œAnorexic fashion iconโ€.

A spokesperson for Beckham revealed that she is seeking legal advice about the ad that uses her likeness and trivialises eating disorders.

โ€œIt is highly inappropriate to trivialise such a disorder, and defamatory to be so thoughtless with a personโ€™s reputation in this way, therefore we are taking legal advice,โ€ a spokesperson for Beckham said.

Speaking to ITV, the shopโ€™s manager, Soni Sidhu, said people should consider the ad was intended as a bit of โ€œfunโ€ and issued a classic non-apology.

โ€œWe would like our customers and all people in general to take our advertising in context. We are not a fly by night business trying to make a quick buck,โ€ he said.

โ€œAnorexia and any mental illness are very serious.โ€

Mr Sidhu added: โ€œIt is offered as a fun way to make people smile, and to escape from the daily hustle and bustle of life. We would be genuinely horrified if anyone was genuinely offended.โ€

IMDB Just Accidentally Spoiled This โ€˜Game Of Thronesโ€™ Characterโ€™s Return

Well, this is awkward...

Game of Thrones season seven is well underway, with HBO fighting to keep the remaining episodes spoiler โ€“ and hacker โ€“ free, but unfortunately for them, today another clue dropped, this time on movie website IMDB.

IMBD, a site any film fanatic has bookmarked, included a familiar face on its listing for next weekโ€™s episode, โ€˜Eastwatchโ€™.

Though theyโ€™ve now realised their mistake and deleted the credit, the good people of the internet quickly screengrabbed proof.

game ofthrones

Right there, between Davos Seaworth and Tyrion Lannister, is Robert Baratheonโ€™s bastard son, Gendry, who hasnโ€™t been on the show since season three was released back in 2013.

Though the credit has now been removed from IMDB, this isnโ€™t the first time Gendryโ€™s return has been rumoured. Back in October 2016, The Independent reported that actor Joe Dempsie was spotted on the GoT set, even providing video evidence as proof.

The last time we saw Gendry, he was rowing away on a boat, after being released from Melisandre by Ser Davos. Prior to that, he was travelling with our girl, Arya Stark.

Fingers crossed for yet another sweet season seven reunion next week.

Chris Brown Just Commented On Rihannaโ€™s Instagram Photo And The World *Cannot* Handle It

Seriously?

When images of Rihannaโ€™s severely beaten face leaked online in 2009, the world was sent into a frenzy.

Her then boyfriend, Chris Brown, plead guilty to the singerโ€™s assault and was sentenced to five years of probation.

Rihanna went on to continue her reign as one of the worldโ€™s biggest pop stars, telling Vanity Fair that though the pair didnโ€™t really keep in touch, she (somehow) didnโ€™t hate him for his actions: โ€œI donโ€™t hate him. I will care about him until the day I die. Weโ€™re not friends, but itโ€™s not like weโ€™re enemies,โ€ she said in 2015.

However, today fans have been sent into a frenzy when Brown commented on one of Rihannaโ€™s latest Instagram photos.

RiRi was just trying to enjoy her time at Crop Over festival when her thirsty, loser ex commented googly eyes on her photo.

Seriously? That emoji?

Needless to say, fans quickly shut Brown down with epic Twitter responses.

It Turns Out The Men Of The Nightโ€™s Watch Are Literally Wearing IKEA Rugs

Brilliant
jon snow

Haute Couture is hard to come by at The Wall, we assume, which is why weโ€˜ve long admired the rugged sartorial achievements of the Nightโ€™s Watch on Game Of Thrones.

They manage to protect and serve while draped in fine winter coats, and with no stores in sight! How do they achieve this certified lewk? By draping themselves in rugs from IKEA, apparently.

Michele Clapton, the costume designer for the first five seasons, made the humorous revelation during a lecture at the Getty Museum in Los Angeles. While the speech was given in May last year, it wasnโ€™t until Buzzfeed pointed it out that fans began freaking out.

jon

โ€œThese capes are actually IKEA rugs,โ€ she revealed. โ€œWe take anything we can. We cut, and then we shaved them, and then we added strong leather straps, and breakdown which is like a religion on Game of Thrones.โ€

She also revealed that the rugs are waxed and frosted to fit in with the wintry landscape of the North.

So, which fabulous rug has been thrown over the shoulders over of our favourite Jon Snow all this time? We think the SKOLD Sheepskin Rug in black looks like a pretty decent contender, and itโ€™s only $79.

โ€˜Bachelorโ€™ Contestants Left Shocked As Matty J Admits Heโ€™s Made A โ€œTough Decisionโ€

"What the hell is going on?"

Tonightโ€™s episode of The Bachelor looks like itโ€™s going to be a *very* emotional ride, with Matty J shocking the contestants by abruptly stopping the Rose Ceremony.

The 30-second preview clip begins by saying: โ€œAll Matty wants is to fall in love but this is the episode that will push him over the edge,โ€ before cutting to show Matty and a blonde contestant hand-in-hand on a single date.

Though the womanโ€™s face isnโ€™t shown, weโ€™re guessing itโ€™s Tara Pavlovic, Simone Ormesher, Leah Costa or Elise Stacy.

The clip then cuts to Matty telling an unidentified woman that he has โ€œhad to make a very difficult decision.โ€

As Matty walks into the Rose Ceremony, Simone notes: โ€œMatty doesnโ€™t look like his normal self,โ€ with another girl saying, โ€œheโ€™s taking a quite some time between the last rose and this rose.โ€

The Bachelor is then seen taking a deep breath, before placing the rose back down.

The camera then captures the reactions from the ladies, showing Leah with tears in her eyes, Simone looking at the ceiling, and Tara with her mouth open in shock.

The trailer comes to an end with a woman saying: โ€œWhat the hell is going on?โ€

Thankfully, all will be revealed on tonightโ€™s episode!

NSW Man Denies Murdering 18-Year-Old Wife In 1997

The body of Jodie Fesus was found in a shallow grave on Seven Mile Beach

A New South Wales court has heard that a bouncer accused of murdering his wife ticked a โ€˜noโ€™ box on a form when asked if she was still living.

Shellharbour man Steve Fesus is currently on trial for the murder of his wife, Jodie Fesus in August 1997, The Sydney Morning Herald reports.

Mr Fesus is accused of burying the body of his 18-year-old wife in a shallow grave in Seven Mile Beach. Mr Fesus claims his wife was strangled by a security guard and has pleaded not guilty.

The NSW court heard that Mr Fesus was filling out a pension application form on August 25, less than a month after his wife disappeared.

Crown Prosecutor Greg Smith said a public servant had asked Mr Fesus: โ€œIs the other parent still living?โ€

โ€œ[The public servant said] the accused ticked the โ€˜noโ€™ box indicating the other parent was deceased and when [the public servant] questioned him the accused said โ€˜ohโ€™ and then ticked the yes box,โ€ Mr Smith said.

โ€œAt this point the accused became flustered and didnโ€™t know what to do next.โ€

According to news.com.au, a jury also heard that Mr Fesus had told friends Ms Fesus had gone missing, and two days later, spoke about donating her clothes to charity.

โ€œHis intention to give her clothes away within two days indicates he knew she would not be returning or would not need her clothes or other belongings,โ€ Mr Smith said.

The crown prosecutor told the court that Mr Fesusโ€™s marriage was unhappy and violent at times, ABC reports.

The jury heard that the pair has a loud argument on August 11, 1997. The incident marked the last day Ms Fesus was seen alive by anyone but her husband.

The trial continues.

10-Year-Old Rape Victim In India Gives Birth

She had been told she had a large stone in her stomach

A 10-year-old Indian girl who fell pregnant after allegedly being raped by a relative has given birth to a baby girl.

As the BBC reports, the baby was delivered via Caesarean section in Chandigarh.

The infant, born prematurely, has been placed in neonatal ICU in hospital. The 10-year-old is also expected to remain in hospital for around 10 days.

โ€œBoth the girl and her baby are doing fine,โ€ doctor Dasari Harish, told AFP.

An official explained the child will be looked after by a welfare committee and then put up for adoption.

Indiaโ€™s Supreme Court rejected a petition to allow the young girl to have an abortion in July. A panel of doctors had declared that terminating the fetus would be โ€œtoo riskyโ€ for the girl, who was 32 weeks pregnant at the time.

The 10-year-old was allegedly rapedโ€”repeatedlyโ€”by a relative who is currently waiting for a trial.

In India, abortions are not permitted beyond 20 weeks under the 1971 Medical Termination of Pregnancy Act, although extreme allowances are made, The Sydney Morning Herald reports.

(Credit: Getty)

In a BBC investigation, reporter Geeta Pandey, learned that the young girl had not been told about her pregnancy.

The little girl had been informed that her pregnant belly was actually due to a big stone in her stomach.

โ€œSheโ€™s very innocent and has no idea whatโ€™s happened to her,โ€ a person close to the 10-year-old explained.

A senior police official said while the girl might not understand her pregnancy โ€œI think she has some idea nowโ€.

Mahavir Singh, of the Chandigarh State Legal Services Authority, told the BBC: โ€œWe have seen lots of cases of teenage pregnancies involving 14 to 15-year-olds, but this is the first ever case that I have seen of a 10-year-old.โ€

The news comes amidst public outcry in India about the governmentโ€™s poor response to rape and violence against women.

Thief Pickpockets Tampon From Womanโ€™s Pocket

Recoils in horror

An Irish woman has taken to Twitter to send โ€œprayers and good wishesโ€ to the pickpocket who tried to rob her on public transport, only to find a shabbily-wrapped tampon in her pocket which he swiftly returned.

โ€œSend prayers & good wishes for the guy who tried to pick my pocket on the luas, took out a tampon, got mortified & tried to put it back,โ€ Lisa Coen from Dublin tweeted, describing her startling encounter on the cityโ€™s light rail system, the Luas.

https://twitter.com/lbcoen/status/894172532747710464

Itโ€™s difficult to imagine what the thief thought he was stealing when he grabbed hold of the sanitary item in the first place. A pen lid? An insectโ€™s cocoon? Or as one Twitter user suggested, a very fat joint?

Whatever he expected, it was clear from his obvious terror that a ladiesโ€™ sanitary item was not high on his wish list.

The tweet has been shared thousands of times since it was posted and prompted Twitter users to share their own stories of regretted robberies.

โ€œMy backpack was stolen while I was getting the baby out of the taxi,โ€ wrote one commenter. โ€œWe were on our way home. Bag full of used cloth nappies. Very used.โ€

โ€œFriendโ€™s old dog died while he was away. Kind neighbour put dog in bag to take corpse to vet, by bus. Bag stolen,โ€ laughed another.

Others pondered the virtues of filling their pockets or bags with tampons in the future, as a way to thwart squeamish thieves. Another commenter even said that when she lived in a pickpocketing hotspot sheโ€™d fill her bags with notes that read โ€œCongratulations, you have stolen a piece of paper,โ€ to disrupt their game.

But the true lesson for all of us is the discovery that tampons, while innately hilarious, are largely harmless. Itโ€™s okay, mortified thief guy. A tampon canโ€™t hurt you, especially not in its wrapper. It wonโ€™t curse your family, nor will your crops fail for generations.

But nonetheless, we join Lisa in sending our thoughts and prayers for your swift psychological recovery.

Thoughts and prayers, mortified thief guy. Thoughts and prayers.

Three Men Found Guilty Of Rape Of Teenager Filmed On GoPro

The attack occurred at a house in western Sydney

Three men have been found guilty of raping a 16-year-old Sydney girl and filming the attack on a GoPro camera.

As The Sydney Morning Herald reports, Tristan Carlyle-Watson, 26, Kurt Stevenson, 26, and Andrew Waters, 25, were convicted of aggravated sexual assault in company by a jury at Downing Centre District Court on Tuesday.

The assault took place in a house in the western Sydney suburb in St Claire in 2015.

During the trial, the jury heard the girl only found out she was sexually assaulted after police discovered the footage on a GoPro.

The girl had been invited to a house party after befriending Carlyle-Watson on Facebook, The Daily Telegraph reports.

The court heard that the girl had smoked cannabis and drank alcohol to the point where she was unable to consent to sexual intercourse.

Court

Crown Prosecutor Sharon Harris said a 16-minute-long video showed the men assaulting the young victim.

Ms Harris said the video depicted the men having sex with her โ€œsometimes โ€ฆ simultaneously, sometimes taking turnsโ€. One man is heard saying โ€œone by one we will all get a f***.โ€

News.com.au reports the 16-year-old told the court she had no memory of the rape, but remembered waking up naked in a room on the night of the attack.

โ€œI was sick, my belly was sore, I was bleeding everywhere,โ€ she said.

The GoPro footage was only found as a result of a police crackdown on graffiti. The camera was seized as part of the police enquiries.

The three men are due to be sentenced in October.

Fans Are Blaming Jennifer Lawrence For Chris Pratt And Anna Farisโ€™ Divorce

Stop. Just stop.

Yesterday, Hollywoodโ€™s golden couple Chris Pratt and Anna Faris announced their joint decision to end their eight-year marriage with a statement shared to their social media accounts.

โ€œAnna and I are sad to announce we are legally separating. We tried hard for a long time, and weโ€™re really disappointed,โ€ Chris shared to Facebook.

โ€œOur son has two parents who love him very much and for his sake we want to keep this situation as private as possible moving forward. We still have love for each other, will always cherish our time together and continue to have the deepest respect for one another,โ€ the actor continued.

chris pratt anna faris

Fans quickly began speculating as to the reason for the coupleโ€™s marital breakdown, with many pointing the finger straight at Prattโ€™s Passengers co-star Jennifer Lawrence.

Back in 2015, while Lawrence and Pratt were filming the movie, persistent cheating rumours surrounded the pair.

โ€œ[That] stung a little bit harder than I thought it would,โ€ Faris told Us Weekly of the gossip at the time.

โ€œItโ€™s been a little devastating because for us, itโ€™s like, โ€˜What the heck?โ€™. This has been blindsiding to us. We have an incredible relationship. It has been weirdly stinging,โ€ she continued.

jennifer lawrence chris pratt

Now, with the announcement of their separation, the internet is immediately turning on Lawrence, blaming her โ€“ with, may we point out, not a shred of evidence โ€“ for wrecking a family.

ICYMI, Lawrence has been dating her director boyfriend, Darren Aronofsky, for well over a year now. Pining over Chris? Doesnโ€™t look like it.

And not that it matters to Twitter, but there is no proof, nor has there ever been, that Lawrence and Pratt were ever more than co-workers.

Side note: Thereโ€™s a four-year-old boy to think of here, people.

Melbourne man Marcus Rowley, 24, has been named as the victim of a fatal stabbing in West Footscray on Saturday night.

As the Herald Sun reports, Marcus was a father of two children.

He was stabbed in the back near Tottenham train station, and a 35-year-old has been charged with murder.

Just four days earlier, Marcus had attended the funeral of his cousin Natasha, Nine News reports.

Ms Rowley was found dead in the shower in a hotel room rented by 11 men at The Oaks on Market on July 16.

The Perth woman, who was known to her friends as โ€œTashโ€, had become a soldier in the Australian Army just four months before her tragic death.

โ€œIโ€™ll never forget your sweet smile, my beautiful sister. I love you, Natasha,โ€ her older sister Alannah posted on Instagram, news.com.au reports.

Did Miley Cyrus And Liam Hemsworth Tie The Knot In Secret?

New photos have sent fans into a frenzy

Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth rekindled their iconic romance in December 2015, though they havenโ€™t exactly confirmed the nature of their relationship.

The couple regularly switch between referring to one another as โ€œboyfriend and girlfriendโ€ and โ€œfiancรฉ.โ€ Miley has even been spotted wearing two different engagement rings on her finger on many occasions.

Itโ€™s been an emotional and confusing ride for fans, and things have gotten more out of hand thanks to a series of photos that emerged this weekend.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BWWolfGFMsR/?taken-by=liamhemsworth

Liam has been spotted wearing a thick gold band on his ring finger and the photos have sent fans into meltdown mode. In the new pics, the actor could be seen grasping a red cup with his left ring-wearing hand as he chatted with his (potential) mother-in-law Tish Cyrus in Kentucky over the weekend.

Representatives for the actors have not returned PEOPLE magazines request for commentโ€ฆ which has added to the speculation. While TMZ say friends of the pair are denying the secret nuptials.

At the moment, it seems thereโ€™s a 50/50 chance Miley has officially become part of the Hemsworth clan. Confirmation, please!

A Third Of People Think *This* Is Worse Than Cheating

And you probably do it
Getty

What could possibly be worse than finding your partner in bed with the next-door neighbour/your boss/pizza delivery person? Them lying about money.

A survey by LendEDU found that 32 per cent of Americans feel that their partners being dishonest about finances would be worse than infidelity.

Lying about how much money you have in your savings account or how much you spent on those heels is considered worse than cheating by a third of people.

While we value honesty about personal finances, the survey found that not everyone practices it. Ten per cent of people have a secret credit card or bank account that they use to spend money without their partner knowing, reports Bustle

And 37 per cent of people withheld information from their partner about how much they spent on clothes, accessories and entertainment. (โ€œOf course they were on sale, babe. No, I wouldnโ€™t spend a weekโ€™s worth of rent on one pair of shoes.โ€)

Why are so many of us lying about money? The survey found that money is the biggest relationship stressor for many couples, and suggested people might be hiding expenditure to avoid fighting.

But before you run to your partner and confess your spending sins, Nate Matherson of LendEDU first suggests talking about your financial goals with your partner, being open about the purchases you make going forward and seeing a financial advisor.

โ€œBeing open and honest is better than hiding things,โ€ he says, especially with end of season sales coming upโ€ฆ

She Thought She Was Flying To A Photoshoot. She Was Then Kidnapped And Almost Sold

"I woke up with wrists and ankles handcuffed, tape on my mouth"

20-year-old British model Chloe Ayling thought she was flying to Milan for a photoshoot. Instead, she was allegedly drugged, stuffed into a bag and kept for six days, while her kidnappers tried to auction her as a sex slave on the dark web.

UPDATE: Now, details have emerged about Chloeโ€™s alleged captor. Italian police have described Lukasz Pawel Herba, the man accused of kidnapping British model, as a โ€˜fantasistโ€™.

As The Guardian reports, Herba was arrested and charged over the alleged kidnapping after he took the model to the British consulate in Milan.

It is alleged Chloeโ€™s captor allegedly planned to sell her on the dark web for ยฃ230,000, and also made demands that her agent pay a ransom fee.

Local media described Herba as a โ€œdangerous person with traces of mythomaniaโ€. The Polish national lives in the West Midlands in England.

โ€œFantasist or not, what is clear is that he is a very dangerous man who drugged his victim as soon as she was kidnapped and put her inside a large travel bag in the boot of a car,โ€ Milan deputy prosecutor Paolo Storari said, news.com.au reports.

Details about a shopping trip Chloeโ€™s kidnappers took her on have also emerged.

Her lawyer, Francesco Pesce, said Chloe was of the belief she would be harmed if she tried to run during the trip.

โ€œChloe told me that she was very scared and wanted to do everything she could to go along with everything in order to make [her captor] release her,โ€ he said. โ€œItโ€™s understandable, she was scared. I believe she was being brave, she was with a captor and didnโ€™t know what to do. She stayed calm. And now she is safe and with her family.โ€

ORIGINAL:

Chloe described the harrowing ordeal of her alleged kidnapping in a police statement, obtained by The Daily Mail.

โ€œA person wearing black gloves came from behind and put one hand on my neck and one on my mouth to stop me from screaming,โ€ she recounted.

โ€œA second person wearing a black balaclava gave me an injection in my right forearm. I think I lost consciousness. When I woke up I was wearing a pink bodysuit and the socks I am wearing now,โ€ she continued.

โ€œI realised I was in the boot of a car with my wrists and ankles handcuffed, adhesive tape on my mouth. I was inside a bag and was only able to breathe through a small hole.โ€

Chloe said she was driven for three-hours to a house, where she was taken inside and handcuffed to a set of drawers.

It was then that she was told she would be auctioned off on the dark web on โ€˜Black Deathโ€™ โ€“ a site associated with people trafficking and kidnapping.

However, Chloe said that, thankfully, once her kidnappers found out she was a mother to a two-year-old boy, they started to get cold feet.

โ€œThe boss had seen my Instagram profile which clearly showed that I was a mum with a young boy and this went against the rules of the organisation,โ€ she told police.

chloe ayling

Eventually, one of the men dropped her at the British Consulate in Milan. He was quickly arrested, and, after a four-week-long nightmare, Chloe is finally back in the U.K. and reunited with her family.

โ€œIโ€™ve been through a terrifying experience. Iโ€™ve feared for my life, second by second, minute by minute, hour by hour,โ€ she told The Sun. โ€œIโ€™m incredibly grateful to the Italian and UK authorities for all they have done to secure my safe release.โ€

Police are now working to find the other men involved with Chloeโ€™s kidnapping.

Anna Faris Details Her Loneliness In Last Interview Before Divorce Announcement

"It never feels like me"
chris pratt anna faris

Yesterday, Hollywoodโ€™s golden couple Chris Pratt and Anna Faris announced their joint decision to end their eight-year marriage, saying: โ€œwe tried hard for a long time, and [are] really disappointed.โ€

The news shocked the world, with fans quickly looking for something โ€“ and someone โ€“ to blame.

anna faris chris pratt

Anna, who currently works on the US TV show Mom, also hosts a podcast, Anna Faris is Unqualified, and just last week the actress opened up about the loneliness she feels in keeping up her โ€œpublic character.โ€

โ€œI play a character on Mom, I play a character in movies, but I also play a public character. Thereโ€™s definitely a loneliness and, like, an internal element to being a performer. I feel like I have to laugh,โ€ she said while talking to guest musician Josh Ostrander.

โ€œI play a public character. I laugh loud sometimes โ€“ maybe too loud but it is a public character sometimes,โ€ she continued. โ€œLike, if I have a red carpet thing or whatever, which Iโ€™m never comfortable, but Iโ€™m always like, โ€˜Iโ€™m fine!โ€™ And it never feels like me.โ€

https://www.instagram.com/p/BSt11S8jitx/?hl=en&taken-by=prattprattpratt

The couple, who share a son Jack, have dealt with their fair share of Hollywood gossip, with persistent cheating rumours plaguing their relationship while Pratt was filming Passengers with co-star Jennifer Lawrence.

โ€œ[That] stung a little bit harder than I thought it would,โ€ Faris told Us Weekly at the time.

โ€œI had always kind of believed that part of the rumours of celebrity couples were sort of true because they had never been part of my life. I was like, โ€˜Oh, maybe thereโ€™s a kernel of truth to that.โ€™โ€

โ€œItโ€™s been a little devastating because for us, itโ€™s like, โ€˜What the heck?โ€™. This has been blindsiding to us. We have an incredible relationship. It has been weirdly stinging.โ€

Spoilers: These Photos Apparently Reveal The โ€˜Bachelorโ€™ Winner

Spotted!

Another day, another questionable spoiler for this season of The Bachelor.

The Daily Mail claims to have proof that the hilarious Tara Pavlovic will be the one to steal Matty Jโ€™s heart.

The publication obtained photos of Tara walking the streets of Bondi in active wear on Monday, and they report she was โ€œjust metres away from his apartment.โ€

Tara โ€“ who lives in Castle Hill โ€“ was seen walking and texting in the streets near the Bachelorโ€™s apartment, and seemed to be caught off guard as she made a disgusted (and kind of funny) face when she appeared to spot the paparazzi. You can check out the snaps for yourself here.

Her appearance in Bondi came just hours after Matty J was accused of photoshopping the winner out of this suspicious Instagram post, so itโ€™s safe to say there are plenty of spoiler theories floating around right now.

Only time will tell which theory pans out to be true!

Australian Actress Yasmin Kassim Dishes On Working With Daniel Radcliffe

And being discovered by Michael Jackson

Yasmin Kassim was just six-years-old when one of the worldโ€™s biggest popstars, Michael Jackson, picked her face out of a crowd.

The Perth-born beauty knew then and there โ€“ with a bit of prompting from MJ โ€“ that performing was for her and began acting, singing and dancing lessons.

Now, the former-Neighbours star lives permanently in L.A., starring in the new film Jungle, alongside Daniel Radcliffe.

How are you finding living in L.A?

I find it really exciting being over here, I love how much opportunity there is for me here โ€“ especially being a multicultural actress. Iโ€™m so busy going out on auditions, call backs and meetings. Itโ€™s very exciting getting to audition for roles when you already love the show or are a fan of people in the movie. There are a lot of opportunities that you may not get when youโ€™re back in Australia.

Are there a lot of Australian actors over there, do you have a lot of friends that you spend time with from back home?

There are so many Australian actors over here! People always talk about the โ€˜Koala Mafiaโ€™ but I donโ€™t think thereโ€™s just one mafia, thereโ€™s really a lot of us, everywhere I go, whenever you hear that accent it really is so warming to hear โ€“ and honestly most of the time theyโ€™re probably an actor. Itโ€™s nice because youโ€™re all kind of going through the same thing and you can relate to one another, the ups and downs of being in the industry and being so far away from home.

I read that you were discovered by Michael Jackson at six years old, how did that come about?

I was waiting for an autograph with my mum and lots of fans, and he picked me out of the crowd and asked if I could be in his History Tour. I ended being an orphan girl in โ€˜Earth Songโ€™ and โ€˜Heal the Worldโ€™, which I guess, technically, was my first ever gig.

I mean, who isnโ€™t a fan of Michael Jackson? I used to watch his music videos and I remember my scariest moment ever was when the Thriller number was on just before one of my numbers and all these zombies, real life zombies, were coming out and I was like โ€˜Oh my gosh, this is real.โ€™

https://www.instagram.com/p/BU7aQpcBonm/?taken-by=yasminjkassim

Did you decide from a really young age that you wanted to be an actor?

For me it was more singing, dancing and acting. My grandma plays the piano and sings, so from a very young age she was teaching me music. When I was doing the History Tour, Michael told my parents I should be a performer and that they should put me into classes, so I started doing ballet, singing classes and acting classes. My parents were so supportive and Iโ€™m forever grateful.

In your new film Jungle, you star along Daniel Radcliffe, which is pretty incredible, what was he like to work with?

Daniel was so amazing to work with. We really connected, I feel and we got on really, really well. Just before we started shooting our first scene, I only spoke to him in the language that I speak in the movie โ€“ I didnโ€™t really speak to him in English โ€“ because I wanted to keep that kind of energy there, and then when we shot our first scene together there was just this really magical air on set, there was a real shift and we knew that we were going to work well together after that.

Did you watch Harry Potter growing up, were you star struck at all?

You know whatโ€™s so weird, I was nervous, I was trying not to syke myself out because I thought if I think about this too much, itโ€™s not going to serve me, I just need to think about the work and my job and what I need to bring to the table. And then when I met him, he was in an American accent, because he had to transfer into the Israeli accent for work, and I think that helped me not click that he was Harry Potter. Even though we would chat about our lives, we both were very much in the energy of our characters, so it wasnโ€™t until the wrap party where he had an English accent and I didnโ€™t have all my prosthetics on my face that we were both like, โ€˜oh my gosh, hi, this is weird, nice to meet you properly.โ€™

https://www.instagram.com/p/BWhIqX5hqco/?taken-by=yasminjkassim

I grew up watching Harry Potter and I canโ€™t imagine what it would be like meeting either him or someone else from the films, like Emma Watson

Well obviously, itโ€™s our generation, who doesnโ€™t know who Harry Potter is? Honestly, from an acting perspective, the choices heโ€™s made since that franchise, I just really admire him as an actor and not once during the shoot did I think, โ€˜oh my god, Hogwarts.โ€™ Actually you know what, there was one time where we were talking about his family and he was talking about his missing school and I asked if his family travelled for work. He was like โ€˜no, I was shooting the moviesโ€™, and I was like โ€˜oh, thatโ€™s right!โ€™

Can you tell me a bit about the movie and your characterโ€™s role in it?

The movie follows Yossi Ghinsberg and some of his friends going into the jungle. Itโ€™s based on a true story, and what happens while theyโ€™re in there. My character Kina is a native Amazon girl and she happens to be a part of their journey.

Is it actually scary working on a thriller when youโ€™re on the set?

Well, I was scared because if I was out in the jungle I would probably be a little scared! But honestly for me, one of the scariest things was all the critters because Iโ€™m barefoot and there are a lot of different things crawling around. I have a bit of a phobia of creepy crawlies so for me that was pretty scary.

Aside from that movie, what have you got coming up for the rest of the year?

Nothing that I can talk about just yet but I feel really, extremely fortunate here in the US, Iโ€™m feeling a lot of love over here and Iโ€™m feeling like I can do what I love to do. Of course, if anything came up in Australia I would be home in a flash, I miss home terribly! But at the moment Iโ€™m really busy over here which is exciting.

Attacker Of Sydney Student Lauren Huxley Expected To Appeal Sentence

Robert Farmer was convicted of the horrific attack from 2005

In 2005, Sydney TAFE student Lauren Huxley was brutally bashed and doused in petrol. She was just 18 at the time.

Her attacker, 39-year-old Robert Farmer, attempted to set her Northmead house alight.

Ms Huxley was left with permanent brain damage and spent six months in hospital recovering from the senseless attack.

In 2008, Farmer was sentenced to at least 20 years in jail for the crime.

Now, Farmer is expected to mount an appeal, The Daily Telegraph reports.

The publication obtained letters Farmer wrote last year from his cell in Wellington Correctional Centre to a pen pal in which he explains: โ€œI cannot wait for my day in courtโ€.

The letters detail his desire to appeal his sentence through Queenslandโ€™s Griffith University Innocence Project.

Ms Huxleyโ€™s mother, Christine, told 9NEWS that Farmerโ€™s possible plans to appeal was a blow for the family.

โ€œWeโ€™re just so appalledโ€ฆ that he can actually appeal this sentence. Itโ€™s not right. He has no remorse for Lauren,โ€ she said.

โ€œWeโ€™ve had to relive this many times, and we donโ€™t want to have to relive it again.

Although Farmer asserted his innocence, DNA linked and a footprint matching his shoe were found at Huxleyโ€™s home.

Do You Really Need To Wash Your Face Twice A Day?

Skincare experts weigh in

If Iโ€™m honest, my inner lazy girl pitched this story because I was sure the answer from skincare experts would be a validating โ€˜no.โ€™ Donโ€™t get me wrong โ€“ without a splash of water on my face (closely followed by a strong skim cap), I would probably never wake up. But does one actually need to bother with cleanser every morning โ€“ especially if one diligently double cleansed the night before? Thatโ€™s what I wanted to know.

RELATED: The 10 Best Cleansers As Rated By Marie Claire Editors

Unfortunately for anyone hoping to push back their alarm by a precious minute or two, the answer, as it turns out, is a resounding YES.

โ€œDust and pollution do not go away at night, so cleansing is essential in the morning,โ€ says Anna Field, director of The Paddington Beauty Room. โ€œYou also need to cleanse to remove your night cream.โ€

Kaye Scott, co-director of The Clinic in Bondi Junction, agrees. โ€œIn the morning, a good cleanse balances the skin, setting it up correctly for other products,โ€ she says.

RELATED: This Award-Winning Cleanser Sells Every 20 Seconds

Fieldโ€™s approach is to double cleanse at night (โ€œI personally prefer a pre-cleanse product to wash my make-up off then follow with cleanser to actually clean my skin,โ€ she says) then use the same cleanser morning and night. So. Much. Cleansing.

Scot even recommends extra cleansing throughout the day between activities like gym sessions. โ€œCleanse before the gym to take make-up off and after the gym to remove the sweat that can lead to pimples along the hairline,โ€ she guides. Sigh.

Now that you know itโ€™s mandatory, what kind of cleanser do you choose? Oily skin types should look to cleansers containing chemical exfoliants like lactic acid to keep congestion at bay, while โ€œfor dry skin, we recommend calming, hydrating ingredients such as sandalwood or chamomile,โ€ suggests Scott.

Australian Designer Kym Ellery Reveals The Fashion Items Every Woman Should Own

Tick these off your list, ASAP

Australiaโ€™s hottest export Kym Ellery, designer of world renowned fashion label Ellery, popped back to Sydney from her new home in Paris to celebrate her second eyewear collection with Specsavers.

And what do you ask when you get five minutes with one of the countryโ€™s best fashion designers to date? How to dress well, of course.

Pen and paper at the readyโ€ฆ

Fashion wise, what do you think are the staple pieces that every woman should own?

Black ankle boots, a cashmere sweater, a three quarter crop flare and a well-cut blazer, maybe with a point of difference such as interesting button detail or sleeve detail.

What is your tip for a woman wanting to look effortlessly stylish?

Keep it simple and wear a cool pair of glasses.

Do you have any celebrity style inspirations?

Rei Kawakubo (founder and designer of Comme des Garรงons), more as a creative inspiration but also as a woman of extreme talent and success in her lifetime.

Whatโ€™s your favourite thing you own?

Itโ€™s hard to say one thing but probably my music collection โ€“ my vinyl, Spotify and iTunes collections.

Whatโ€™s been your career highlight so far?

Many in the recent years โ€“ showing on schedule as part of Paris fashion week and being named as part of the BOF 500 people influencing the global fashion industry were both amazing moments. Also, winning earlier this year the Emerging Brand of the Year at the ELLE UK Style Awards, because I had no idea that we were big in England.

You wear spectacles quite a lot, what shapes and frames are you drawn to?

I love an aviator โ€“ whether itโ€™s acetate, like what Iโ€™m wearing tonight (pictured below), inspired by an aviator shape, or a wire frame. And I also love a square cats-eye, something thatโ€™s a bit modern but almost with a โ€™90s twist.

Do you find designing spectates a lot different to designing fashion?

Different in some ways and similar in many others. It was easy thanks to the team at Specsavers, who are incredible at their job. Their technical prowess is amazing โ€“ you tell them an idea and they all come back with this amazing technical drawing, so for me it was a really interesting learning experience and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

kym2
Kym wears the ELLERY 17 spectacles

What are your favourite frames from this new collection?

I love the ones Iโ€™m wearing, theyโ€™re inspired by a young Annie Lee Ritz. I also love the ELLERY 06 sunglasses.

Where did you draw inspiration from for these new frames?

I was inspired by the iconic cultural and artistic figures that had a unique persona of their own, such as Jerry Garcia, Truman Capote, Peggy Guggenheim and Haris Abdul.

I love how theyโ€™re all inspired by famous creatives, the first range as well, right?

Yes, so that one was looking into famous characters and this one is looking into real people who have really influenced their area of work.

New Study Sheds Light On Pregnancy Risks For Women Over 35

Researchers analysed 117,357 pregnancies

A new study has shed light on the level of risk for Australian women who fall pregnant and give birth over the age of 35.

The findings? The presence of chronic medical conditions such as diabetes or heart disease carried a higher health risk for women over 35, compared to the risks associated with their age, news.com.au reports.

The study was published in the Australian and New Zealand Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

Researchers found that age constituted only a minimal risk factor for the women or their babies dying, or their children developing a severe health condition. But mothers over 35 with pre-existing medical conditions who fell pregnant had higher risk levels.

The study concluded: โ€œFor women aged โ‰ฅ35 years, presence of medical conditions conferred a greater risk for morbidity/mortality than age itself.โ€

Baby
(Credit: Getty)

As The Sydney Morning Herald reports, a 35-year-old giving birth for the first time had an estimated 5 percent chance of perinatal death or serious complications, while this increased to 5.7 percent for 40-year-old mothers.

But the results significantly increased to 12.4 percent risk for a first time mum at 35 who had diabetes.

Lead author University of Sydney Professor Jonathan Morris explained the importance of the study to the SMH.

โ€œWhat this work has done for the first time is looked at things other than age,โ€ he said.

โ€œWhen you examine the contribution of age compared with medical conditions or whatโ€™s happened in your pregnancies before โ€“ those characteristics are far more important than age.โ€

Researchers looked at 17,357 pregnancies among 99,375 women by studying NSW birth records from 2006-2012.

You can read the full study here.

With over 80,000 pins to its name, the tousled lob is defined by shaggy, haphazard layers, a soft, not-too perfect wave and as much oomph as volumising mousse, texturising spray and dry shampoo combined can give.

According to Glamour, the key to getting this look right is to ask your hairdresser for a โ€œshattered lobโ€, not layered per se. โ€œAsk for lots of texture with light, airy, razor-cut ends,โ€ Kerastase celebrity hair stylist Matt Fugate tells the US publication.

Balayage highlights on the ends complete the look.

To perfect this style youโ€™ll be in need of a good dry texturising spray โ€“ the global beauty ed fave is Oribeโ€™s version, but we also like this one by MoroccanOil, which weโ€™ll let ambassador Rosie Huntingon-Whitely demonstrate:

So shaggy, so chic.

The barely there golden tint on her ends has the effect of warming up her entire look, giving it extra depth and dimension. While Hale is celebrity hair stylist Kristin Essโ€™ most high-profile client, the new colour comes courtesy of Vancouver talent Chris Weber.

โ€œMy @kristin_ess of Vancouver is @chrisweberhair,โ€ Hale captioned the photo. โ€œThank you for being so sweet and warming up my locks.โ€

Weber also posted a photo of Haleโ€™s new hair on his Instagram, revealing that Ess actually recommended him for the job.

Plane Passenger Spots Man Allegedly Texting About Child Molestation, Leads To Arrests

She reported the man's texts to the cabin crew

A woman made a disturbing discovery when she spotted the text messages of a fellow passenger on a flight to San Jose, California.

San Jose police say the woman allegedly saw a man texting about sexually molesting children.

โ€œThe conversations were very particular in regards to sex acts that were to be performed on โ€ฆ children,โ€ a San Jose police spokesman said, news.com.au reports.

The female passenger photographed the manโ€™s texts and informed the cabin crew. The man has been named as 56-year-old Michael Kellar.

Kellar told police that the texts were just a sexual fantasy game.

As CNN reports, detectives later inspected the manโ€™s phone and found he had allegedly texted Gail Burnworth, in Tacoma, Washington.

Seattle police said the messaged contained โ€œinformation that the woman had access to the children either as a caregiver or a babysitterโ€.

A five-year-old and seven-year-old were found in the womanโ€™s care.

As The New York Times reports, Kellar has been booked with two counts of attempted child molestation and two counts of solicitation of a sex crime.

Burnworth was arrested, not formally charged, and then released in Tacoma. She was arrested on Friday for conspiracy to produce child pornography.

San Jose Police Sgt. Brian Spears told CNN that the actions of the female passenger were incredible heroic.

โ€œIโ€™d like to highlight that if it wasnโ€™t for this particular passenger taking action to alert the staff and alert the police, this catastrophic event would have been horrific,โ€ he said.

โ€œNotes from the real world โ€“ yesterday and today we were jam-packed with customers showing their support.โ€

While some upset men expressed their contempt for the extra chargeโ€”which is optionalโ€”others praised the idea.

Hilary Duff Shuts Down Body-Shamers With 1 Perfect Instagram Post

๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

Hilary Duff has endured her fair share of negative media attention since her Lizzie McGuire days, and now the Younger star has had enough.

Currently on holidays in Hawaii with her five-year-old son Luca, Duff posted the below beach snap with one of the best body positivity messages weโ€™ve read from a celebrity in a long time.

Here it is in full:

โ€œI am posting this on behalf of young girls, women, and mothers of all ages. Iโ€™m enjoying a vacation with my son after a long season of shooting and being away from him for weeks at a time over those months. Since websites and magazines love to share โ€˜celeb flawsโ€™ โ€“ well I have them!โ€ she writes.

It goes on: โ€œMy body has given me the greatest gift of my life: Luca, 5 years ago. Iโ€™m turning 30 in September and my body is healthy and gets me where I need to go. Ladies, letโ€™s be proud of what weโ€™ve got and stop wasting precious time in the day wishing we were different, better, and unflawed. You guys (you know who you are!) already know how to ruin a good time, and now you are body shamers as well. #kissmyassโ€

Did Matty J Awkwardly Crop The Winner Out Of This Photo?

Fans certainly seem to think so

Ever since The Bachelor aired itโ€™s first drama-filled episode two weeks ago, speculation has been rife about which lucky lady will steal Matty J away from the nation. He is โ€œourโ€ internet boyfriend, after all.

Daily Mail is yet to produce their standard spoiler photos that have ruined several finales โ€“ including Richie and Alex last season โ€“ so for now fans are taking literally anything they can get.

The most recent ~spoiler~ floating around? A suspicious Instagram crop. Yes, really.

Matty spent Sunday hanging out with his mother at Cremorne Reserve, where he took to social media with a sweet photo.

โ€œSunday spent hanging out with my biggest fan,โ€ he captioned the snap.

Fans are super suss on the editing of the post, because his feed is typically littered with perfectly edited pics.

โ€œI think the winner is cropped out on the left,โ€ one commented. Another one wrote, โ€œI feel like you cropped out your girl.โ€

โ€œHis girl is defs on the other side of this photo,โ€ said another confident detective.

Scroll through the whopping 200 comments, and youโ€™ll notice plenty of similar statements about how this seasonโ€™s Bachie has โ€œclearlyโ€ cut someone from the photo.

Some alternative theories we would like to put forward for thirsty fans to consider include:

A) Heโ€™s working on a new Instagram aesthetic featuring artsy crops

B) He wanted to prominently include that subtle Harbour View

C) The person who took the photo is really bad at framing

All valid, in our honest opinion.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are celebrating their one-year anniversary, and Markleโ€™s 36th birthday, with a trip to Africa.

The loved-up couple was spotted leaving the tarmac in Botswana with big smiles on their face, with The Sun reporting that they went straight to a surprise BBQ at one of Harryโ€™s close friendโ€™s houses.

While on holiday, Meghan and Harry are expected to go on safari, take a boat trip and go camping. Though Meghan has visited the country before, this will be her first safari, with a friend telling the publication: โ€œShe is super excited about their holiday together and to see Africa though Harryโ€™s eyes. Of course, sheโ€™s visited the continent before through her charity work, but this is her first ever safari.โ€

โ€œShe adores animals, particularly ยญelephants, and was just over the moon,โ€ they continued.

Harry has made it no secret that he loves Africa, saying on numerous occasions that the country feels like his second home.

โ€œIโ€™ve been lucky enough to visit Botswana for more than 20 years and am incredibly fortunate to be able to call it my second home,โ€ Prince Harry said in January while visiting the area.

Embarrassante
Kim KardashianGetty

Regrets, we have a few โ€“ but we would have thought that Kim Kardashian, who rose to fame via one of the worldโ€™s most notorious sex tape scandals, might have more regrets than most.

So we were surprised to learn that her biggest regret, in social media terms at least, is actually the post she shared when she and Kanye got engaged.

Just try to spot the problem with this photo:

Does she feel that, in hindsight, it was a tad ostentatious? Good lord no.

โ€œOne of my biggest photo regrets is when I got engaged and I had the shortest nails when I showed my picture,โ€ Kardashian told beauty vlogger Patrick Starrrโ€™s in a YouTube clip. โ€œIt would have looked so much better with long nails.โ€
